    Yummy but small tenders
    Tracy B.

Don't laugh at a 4 Star review for KFC. Silly, right? I am not chicken to give them four stars. Lol. I was really hungry and did not want the same ole, same ole. I saw this KFC and thought "What the hey?" I could do worse (and often have) so there was nothing to lose. I put my car in drive-through gear and ordered up. Because I am who I am... I wanted substitutions. The customer service associate did not hesitate to give me substitutes and he even offered me other items at no charge. Usually it's such a hassle. I ordered a chicken tender box meal but I did not want a cookie so he offered me two biscuits instead. Way to go, KFC! He was very pleasant and friendly. He smiled- which you rarely get anymore! My visit was fast, friendly and yummy.... just the way it should be Now was this a knocked-it-out-of-the-park lunch? Best I've ever had? Trip over myself to go back? No, not hardly. The food was fresh, hot, tasty but the chicken strips were a bit anemic looking. They were very small, indeed. The macaroni was a bit bland, too. But it was still good food that satisfied my hunger and kept me happy. This is a small thing that is really a BIG thing but they remembered to put all the plasticware in the bag. The knife, fork and spoon were all in the bag. Cannot count the meals and frustration when you get to your destination and discover no utensils. If for nothing else, that alone deserves 3 stars. Thanks KFC for a very enjoyable lunch experience. Now work on getting bigger tenders!

Cold part of buffet. Two different puddings, some basic fruit, Cole slaw ECT. No salad

I can only review the buffet as that's what we came for. Its a small buffet but was stocked at 140pm on a Saturday. Its available 11am to 8pm. Two kinds of chicken, original and extra crispy. They stated no grilled chicken but I'm not sure that means for the buffet or they just were out of it that Saturday. I didn't try the dessert but it looked good. The chicken was fresh as it was refilled while we were there. The first batch of coke slaw was just okay. After it was refilled, it was much better. The potatoes were a bit old as if too long under the light but still decent after covered with KFC gravy. Biscuits were okay and fresh. I'm from Tennessee so I'm kind of picky about biscuits. Overall not bad at 8.49 for adults and 5.99 for kids. Not many KFC buffets around so its worth a return trip.

The "$5 fill up" (two pieces, side, biscuit, cookie, and drink) is a great value. The service was somewhat friendly, and my order was ready by the time I finished paying for it. The dining area was clean, and fairly new. A buffet is available for $8.49 (without drink).

Food and service was good but the cleanliness is questionable. No buffet anymore. Said they're going to be remodeling next year.

He seems to eat there once a week. He calls a chicken strip dive bar so it put an image into my head that might have skewed my initial judgment. First of all, the location is in a complete dive bar type of area, out there in industrial part of Sante Fe road, on the east side of Quivera, next to a railroad. I have been there a couple of times in the past because of a laundromat that I used to visit to wash my comforters. The outside also has a bit of a dive bar appearance, with an older look that feels a bit worn out. However, the interior seems quite different from what you get from the outside, sort of like going to a run down Motel 6 or Super8 whose guest rooms has been renovated. The interior is clean and looks like it has been updated recently, this is not a dive bar, it is a family friendly eatery with a bar. However, the bar was empty and was being used as an area for to-go pickups. The patrons were also not really bar types, but mostly families with small children, nearly all of them. So for me, the vibe was a bit off-putting, but I blame that on my expectations (I also blame my friend)... I ordered a 5 piece strip with fries (with cheese and jalapenos) and a coke. It came out to $25 with tax and appropriate tip. I once told the owner that I like Chicken Tenders and he was the first to correct me that these weren't tenders, but strips....the main difference being that the chicken piece were a uniform shape, not conical, like you see in a tender. Nonetheless, the strips were fairly small, but they were good. Certain restaurants, you know they get their food from either Sysco or US Foods, and they are heavily breaded with a rubbery type of chicken. These weren't those. The chicken was fresh and the breading was actually thin and didn't get in the way. The two sauces I got (Blue Cheese and a slightly spicy red sauce) were perfectly serviceable, but nothing to write home about. The fries seemed more of the frozen variety and with an industrial cheese sauce and bottled pickled jalapenos. Would I say this place is better than Slim Chickens, which is just down the road and a bit cheaper? I would say it's slightly better, but it doesn't necessarily justify the price difference (about $5). And I'm still confused with the vibe of the place.

Keven greeted me and walked me through their spice levels - so on the side of using good judgement I went for a medium 2 strip dinner. Made fresh to order it took about 8 minutes to get my order but it was a lovely change from the slightly warm chicken generally found at a fast food restaurant. These chicken strips were huge! And they've been crusted with the flavor - not drenched in sauce. The chicken was moist and delicious as were the seasoned fries. This will become a go to spot for chicken - winning out over any of the more well known places for me!

Overall, it gives the restaurant a modern street style feel with the bold colors and graffiti around. We bought 2 - one tender and one slider combos $14 each along with buffalo style Mac and cheese with three small chicken pieces $7 and the final bill including tip was $42. The tenders were packed with flavor - crispy and juicy chicken. It was perfectly fried and had the right amount of medium level spice on it. However the buffalo style Mac and cheese was cold and underwhelming - three pieces of chicken with hardly any actual Mac and cheese and fries - it was not what I expected. I definitely expected more Mac and cheese haha. Another downside for me was the pricing of the combos/food- it was high because if you look at the combo it's just two tenders with some bread and sauce. Portion wise it didn't really match the pricing for more of a fast food restaurant setup. The restaurant was clean otherwise and the service was decent - nothing amazing as such. Overall, good fast food with high pricing for what you get.

So like Joe K said, it's great to see more Korean chicken places in the Kansas City area. (S)KFC is…read moreamazing - the crispness of the chicken, the fantastic sauces. It's special. I'm excited just thinking about it. But oh man was I hoping for better. And I think this place could get there, if they can change some things. Joyce and Brandy laid it out well, so I'll just echo some main points: - The food could be better. Apparently it has been before. What I saw felt pretty low effort, the crispiness wasn't there. (South) Korean Fried Chicken is amazing because even with those delicious sauces, the chicken stays crispy. Best of both worlds! These wings were soggy. I didn't feel great after eating the meal. It wasn't ideal. - The service was nonexistent. I came up to the human at the counter, who directed me not to talk to her but to put in my order on the screen to the side. I hate these. I hate them so much. The UX on the terminal was clunky, the navigation in particular was so bad that there were whole sections of the menu that seemed to be missing. I now know to swipe left on the headers to scroll right to a second page of root-level categories, but be honest, just reading that in a sentence is confusing and annoying. Some people may like kiosks. That's fine! But mandating them is awkward and obnoxious. - I'm still on the service. There's a big menu. There are paper menus. There are little signs advertising fun looking items. I already know what I want. It is so much easier and more enjoyable to order with a real human and get their help. Why put the added friction of learning a clunky interface? An employee would be fluent in the system even if it's bad. And if my case is any indication, it's not helping their sales. I would totally have ordered more dishes if I'd known that was an option. It just looked like they were out so it wasn't available. - After putting in the order, I was prompted for a tip for the service. Which just felt like a coup de grace to my psyche. - It felt like there was no heart here. That's probably an ownership issue. I'm sympathetic to a point, it's not easy in general and there's a lot of pressure to cut costs (especially with the tariff arsonist disrupting supply chains). But the vibe here was dismal, you could feel it in the food and the staff. The space itself seems set up well to have large groups and good times. Could be a fun spot. But right now, the impression I get is that aside from the wings the kitchen does a lot of prepackaged instant food. So I'm not sure what they're trying to be - a decent wing place, or more of a fast-food/gas station type of spot. A vending machine with a deep fryer. Like I said before, this place has potential to be great if they can change some things. They're just going to have to want to. I'm rooting for them.

I ordered the Homemade Chicken Pot Pie, and while it was okay, it really lacked flavor. It wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't memorable. She was hungry enough to eat it, but it definitely wasn't something she'd order again. As for the loaded fries, paying an extra $1.50 wasn't worth it. There were barely any toppings, so they were still dry and didn't really feel "loaded" at all. Overall, the meal was just mediocre. Nothing was terrible, but nothing stood out either, especially for the price. I might give Cheddar's another chance and try something different, but after this experience, it's not somewhere I'd go out of my way to eat or find myself craving. We didn't wait long before she took our order: 2 strawberry lemonades, 5 ox Bourbon Salmon & shrimp with broccoli casserole and baked potato; Single Fried Chicken on texas toast, mashed potatoes & country gravy and green beans. I did have to ask if the mashed potatoes were real or instant too. Now DO NOT SKIP the crescent rolls and that honey butter. OH MY GOODNESS... they came out warm with plenty of butter.
