I started eating Kentucky Fried Chicken when I was a kid.  Growing up my mom and brother both worked nights and most of the time I had leftovers.  Once in awhile I would get a 2 piece or 3 piece for dinner at Kentucky Fried Chicken.  As time passed corporate sidelined the Colonel and rebranded as KFC.  The prices went up and they added more menu items.  I don't visit that often as it's $24 for 8 pieces now.  They started a Tuesday 8 pieces for $10 deal and I gave it a try.  The 8 piece bucket is enough for 2 or 3 people.  I ordered the original recipe and the batter/skin was slightly crispy with tons of flavor from the 11 herbs and spices.  Chicken was tender and juicy.  Great tasting chicken. I also tried the apple pie poppers.  I liked the crispy outer layer.  Too much batter and not enough apple filling for me.  I liked the sweet apple flavor of the filling but it was hard to taste due to too much pastry part. On other visits I tried: Chicken pot pie had a crunchy crust with a nice pastry flavor.  Chicken was tender and had a delicious flavor.  Carrots and potatoes were tender and had a mild flavor.  Gravy was a bit saltier than I would have liked.  Good tasting pie overall and a good deal at $5 Wings were 6 for $5.  Not a very good deal as they count half a wing as a wing.  I tried the wings with honey bbq sauce.  Wings were crunchy except for the part covered in sauce.  Sauce had some sweetness and a bitter flavor.  Wings tasted very different from their original recipe chicken.  I wouldn't order them again.  Slush drink came in 3 different flavors.  I was hoping it would be like a Dole Whip but it turned out to be like a Slurpee.  Texture was icy just like a Slurpee.  Flavor had an artificial pineapple flavor like you would get in a Slurpee.  I would not order this again. Server was nice and efficient.  I'll be visiting more as they have some good promotions. read more

I just had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. I placed an order through the Taco Bell app, not realizing this Taco Bell/KFC doesn't even affiliate with it. When I went in, I found out my order went to another Taco Bell. I asked the guy at the counter what I should do and if there was a way to get a refund, and all he said was "Google" then turned around and walked away. No help, no effort, nothing. So I had to re-order my food. I also asked if they could honor the free medium drink I get from my Taco Bell rewards tier and he just said "no" -- didn't even bother to check with a manager or anything. While I waited, I watched two other customers order KFC and get their food before mine even came out. When I asked if I was ever going to get my food, he ignored me completely. Eventually, he put my food down on the table without a word. I said "thanks very much" with attitude because by then I was beyond frustrated. He just smiled and said "have a good day" like he was mocking me. I asked for his name and he refused to give it, just pointed at his hat and repeated "have a good day." I've worked in retail and customer service for over 20 years, and I have never seen such immaturity and unprofessionalism. This is a small little KFC on Miramar Road. Drive thru option available but the lot is tiny. It's a bit tricky as there is a intersection right where the drive thru is located and it's labeled with signs to keep the area clear. So in essence you're gonna be blocking some area off waiting to get into the drive thru. Anyway the drive thru was quick enough to get the food. The Miramar Road traffic is tricky to get back on so traffic seems to be the theme here. read more

I had a taste for chicken and my girlfriend had a taste for tacos. I went to the Miramar Road location where it's a KFC/ Taco Bell store. I ordered a 8 pieces mixed chicken original, 12 hot wings no sauce, and 3 Supreme Taco meal . The drive thru guy seemed nice and the order was correct, but the food was all old and dried out. Unfortunately I paid $47.54 for some dried over the heating lamp chicken. I really don't understand fast food places these days in how they can serve customers food that is inedible. It's easier to throw away old food,than to give it to a customer that works hard for his money and will complain later about your lousy food. I was not in a rush to wait for fresh chicken and there was no line in front of me or behind me. I feel that the manager needs to be more aware of what is going on so that old food can be thrown away on a timely basis . I was very surprised to see majority of the reviews were 1 to 2 maybe 3 stars, so my first instinct was that this place will disappoint me as well, but in the back my mind I never try to judge before I try. The first thing that I recognized was everything was very clean and very neat when I walk in. I have been to many KFC's that look a lot worse. After scanning through the menu I chose the smoky mountain barbecue chicken combo which comes with their steak fries and a drink. I will admit when opening my sandwich wrapper up it was a little sloppy, the sauce and spilled out and was all over the wrapper, but that is really not a huge issue to me, As I grab the sandwich I realized that it was extremely hot and cooked fresh, I'm talking about where it almost burn my mouth when I took my first bite, same thing with the steak fries so I immediately thought in my head I'm surprised, I would expect kind of like a McDonald's where they have a whole bunch of these sandwiches ready and raring to go, but that was not the case here. Is this location a KFC? A Taco Bell? Both? Seeing as I checked in here under the KFC listing, this review will rate it as such. I came here yesterday to try their new spicy chicken sandwich - the Zinger. Even though it was set to roll out on Monday, I guess this location was launching it early. At $5.49 (not counting tax) for the combo, this good sized fried chicken breast sandwich came with a side of potato wedges, a drink, and a cookie. The sandwich wasn't that bad - although fried to the consistency of their Extra Crispy chicken, one of the things that KFC is boasting about the Zinger is that it's battered and fried in house as opposed to the competition, and it definitely shows. While the bread was toasted just right, the lettuce and mayo were just... there. Maybe if sliced tomato was added would the sandwich stand out a bit more. The potato wedges were pretty good (although I forgot to ask about getting a side of FLG sauce - next time!), and the cookie hit the spot. Due to the proximity of this KFC/Taco Bell location to MCAS Miramar, this place does steady business, even on the weekends. So my wife and I have been driving 40 mins. out of our way going to this KFC on Miramar road for 7 years now and spending $50 on chicken at least once a month. Last night (11-21-20) at 6pm we got a bucket meal and when we got home half of the chicken was missing? We ate and returned the next day to ask the onsite manager about this and she said "I packed your bucket and everything was inside" My answer was if you packed it then why didn't you notice half the chicken was missing the mashed potatoes had no gravy and the biscuits were thrown in the bucket with the chicken? She offered to give us the missing chicken minus the Breasts I said we paid extra for breasts and her response "we don't have any" meanwhile I was looking at them from the counter. They didn't give us a receipt and luckily I paid with my debit card and could prove we were at this Miramar location last night because she didn't want to work with us until I produced my Wells Fargo bank statement. Wow. I get having hard days but even on my worst day I would never provide the service that I received today. I have not been to KFC in a really long time, I should have kept it that way! Arnold at the drive thru has ZERO regard for customer service. I hope that no one ever provides him with the service he gave today. I got to the window to pay for my order, he processed the transaction, gave me my card back, handed me the bag, slammed the window & walked away. Didn't say a word. I had also asked to make sure I ordered the potatoes correctly by asking "the potatoes I ordered is the side with gravy, right?" because I very rarely go to KFC & he seemed so bothered by this. One morning after 8 Jagerbombs, i had one of the worst hangovers ever. I gave this kfc a second chance and regretted it. First time my order was completely messed up and got charged extra and waisted my lunch fixing the issue. The second time the chicken was slightly undercook and i brought back even the peices that were bit. Instead of fixing the issue the worker decided to dispute with me and still showed her the uncooked chicken. I requested a refund and left it as that. I will no longer go to this KFC. read more
