    Sweet Tea
    Fateha A.

Went here a few weeks ago for the 1st time, didn't really like the food as much as I wuda thought & the service cuda been better. The server was too busy, so she left us to attend to other customers while trying to explain the dishes to us. She also prolly had trouble explaining what the dishes are in English, which obviously isn't her fault. We got veggie fried rice, mushroom soup, cucumber salad, a bun, & sweet tea. The sweet tea was barely sweet. I would say it's a misnomer. It tasted like masala chai otherwise, just not as strong, a mellowed version. I wuda preferred stronger flavor, a bit sweeter as well wouldn't hurt. The cucumber salad was my fave. It's slightly spicy, comes in soy sauce, with sesame seeds on top. It reminds me of cucumber kimchi. The fried rice comes with onion, scallion, & carrot. It's either cooked in soy sauce or someone hurriedly poured soy sauce over parts of it, resulting in an inconsistent color & taste. Some of the rice was white, some brown. That did get on my nerves for some reason. I got weird pet peeves, ya feel me? Anyway, I'd appreciate properly mixing the rice after adding soy sauce to get a uniform color & taste. It was decent otherwise. The mushroom soup tastes like canned Campbells soup except the mushroom portion is generous & the bowl of soup is huge. I liked the soup. The bun is big & goes well with the soup. Idk what else to say abt it. Bread is bread.

I have been to a few Tibetan restaurants in Jackson Heights. The ones that I liked a lot have been Spicy Tibet and Phayul. I decided to give this place a try with some friends. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the high rating it has on Google. This place does have some positives. The place is very clean and appears to have been recently renovated. The prices are also very reasonable with most entrees going for $9.99 to $11.99. Now, on to the negatives. The food was simply not as good as we'd had at other Tibetan places. The fried beef ribs were old. The meat was hard and rubbery and was microwaved. The momos we ate were also a bit bland compared to others we'd had. We definitely won't be back.

My friend and i had a rendezvous at jackson heights . We decided to try a new restaurant and choose khampa. The food was very delicious and we had a hearty meal . The waitress were very sweet and attentive . The ambiance felt cozy enough to feel like home and we had a very good time .

Lovely venue for some Himalayan breakfast and momos! The fried bread was delicious in combination with the curry potatoes and the onions. The beef momos had a fluffy exterior; kind of like steam char siu baos or chicken baos. You can definitely taste the butter in the butter tea. It's not a very dark tea. The butter is very prominent. The breakfast also comes with some rice congee. Tastes great when you add some the other things on your plate like the momo and the curry potatoes. Would love to come here again and bring my Nepalese friends. Cheers

Absolutely loved this hole in the wall. We ordered a huge spread of beef tongue, I would highly recommend the beef tongue - incredibly tender and covered in a numbing spicy oil. I thought it went amazingly with the pickled radish and mantou. This was recommended by the waiter as well. I also really enjoyed the beef momos. They were like bigger and beefier xiao long baos. Goes really well with the spicy sauce. Servers were also really nice - explained everything we were ordering and commented on what goes well together. I've also never had butter tea before and it was an interesting order!

I have to say this was worth the trip...I wandered into this place after seeing crazy mass of hordes of people at the Momo Crawl. I really enjoyed the visit. The waiter approached me when I walked in and asked me if I wanted a menu. It was a huge menu with lots of different items that were traditionally Nepali/Tibetan, and it's right next to Aroma Brazilian and it's not easy to spot unless you take a good look around. He offered me a glass of water and even had squeezed a lemon into it. That was a nice touch. It was fantastic to walk in and order a couple of orders of chicken and beef momos. I loved the hot sauce. It was kind of bitter like, but spicy and mild at the same time. It was worth it. My favorite was the chicken...with all the spices and scallions and flavor poppin'. I would definitely return and try other things on the menu. There's options for a full meal (lunch and dinner). It's worth mentioning that the waiter and the people working were friendly and understanding. FYI: It is loud in here, and it's a combination between hole-in-the-wall and nice cafe, so it's not super fancy in ambience or decor. Another words, it's not the best restaurant for reading a book quietly or having a serious talk with let's say your boss. There are a couple of people who are on their cell phones on speaker, so it's like living in someone's grandmother's house with the whole family speaking at once. ***Kind of cozy, and feels oddly close knit at the same time.*** With all that stated, I still would recommend it, because those momos are so tasty and fresh. I could tell they know flavor. If I had to sum it up in one word: Yummy!

Went here to catch up with my friends . We loved loved the paoze . It was served hot and juicy and tasted extremely delicious. I wish I could say the same about chicken momo but I can't . It did taste good but was a little dry for my taste . But I'd definitely come back to this place for paoze. The servers were really nice . It was my friend birthday and she also provided us extra plates and spoons to share the birthday cake . So thank you so much .

Best Momos and delicious Tibetan sausage.

I was craving some authentic momos, (beef dumpling) so I stopped by khampa kitchen which was recommended to me by friend, I tried the beef dumpling and ordered some blood sausage which I heard were pretty good too. Anyways long story short this was the best recommendation I ever had , one of the best juicy beef dumplings , proper beef to dough ratio, blood sausage (gyuma) was also really good, with every bite there was a burst of flavor of 5 spices, pepper , ground beef. Amazing amazing option great food. Will definitely be back. Thank you

Usually I don't write bad review. But today I will. I stopped by this restaurant around 5pm on Saturday. No customers were eating there , only family or friends were hanging around. I had some doubt about this restaurant at first. I still gave a try. I ordered beef ping glass noodle, beef momo, Chilli beef to go. Beef momo was undercooked. Beef noodle was a disaster. Beef chili was just salty as hell. I couldn't chew even small piece of beef , just totally not edible. I would rather eat rubber band. I wonder what is all the good review. Foods were sucks. I regret not to go my go-to Tibetan restaurant two blocks away. Just total waste of money

    Beef, chicken and vegetable momos

Khampa Kitchen came highly recommended as one of the main restaurants I should visit during the Momo Crawl. My friend and I ordered beef, chicken and vegetarian momos. The momos were juicy. My friend said the vegetarian momo was good. The chicken momo was okay. The beef momo was the best one except we both had to spit out some fat or cartilage as we were chewing it. Overall though this place has good, authentic momos.

Tsering was our waiter and was very kind and helpful. Vaccination cards and IDs were promptly checked which made me feel safer eating indoors. No outdoor seating. The Spicy Dumpling Soup was delicious. We got veggie dumplings which were flavorful and packed with hot juice. Be careful when taking a big bite. The meat pasty Khampa Poethek was delicious with a mild flavor of fennel or something similar. We were warned it would take 45min to be ready so we ordered the soup to hold us over while we waited. Good hearty food perfect for the nyc winter chills.

Stopped in for soup on a really cold day and loved it! Got the spicy dumpling(veg) soup which was perfectly spicy and very flavorful. Had a nice Szechuan peppercorn flavor. Aloo in gravy was excellent especially when mixed with chili sauce. Will be back to try more of the menu.

Yessss! Momos of every flavor, cooking style and filling…read morehere, yum! Met up with friends here for dinner on a freezing winter weekend evening. The store was on the emptier side probably given the weather outside, with only about a third of their 30 or so seats taken. Seating is first come first serve, no formal waiter service, you order at the counter and they bring the food when it's ready. Staff were helpful in explaining what each item was, the protein options (a choice of chicken or beef for each), and level of spiciness (not too spicy though the accompanying sauces had a kick). We ordered-- - Kothey momo $9.99: selected the beef filling, this was a lightly pan-fried dumpling with a thin dough wrapper and savory minced beef filling. Served with a medium spicy dipping sauce. Good! - Thai soup momo $12.99: came in a curry broth with vegetables, my friend ordered the chicken momos and they came piping hot in the soup. Tasty and warm comfort food for a very cold evening. - Chili momo $11.99: deep fried and served with a tangy sweet and sour chili sauce, peppers and onions, my friend ordered the beef version. The spice level on the chili sauce was pretty mild. Yummy. - Samosa chaat momo $11.99: sprinkled with diced tomato, onion, cilantro doused with green chutney and sitting in a shallow bed of yogurt sauce, these deep fried momo were so flavorful. - Tandoori momo $11.99: I'm not sure if these were baked in a tandoori oven but they were sure seasoned with spices to taste like it , and delicious! Tender and juicy chicken filling. - Sandeko momo $11.99: another deep fried momo (this time I asked for beef) topped with a chunky sauce of soybeans, tomato and onion, filled with minced meat. This was another tasty plate! All the momos we ordered came with 8 pieces, while some of the basic flavors come with a couple more pieces. A single plate is a moderate amount of food for a meal though we ended up ordering six different types to share and try. Each stood out in a different way and I'd heartily recommend all. If there was just one critique it was since it was so cold that night (in the teens Fahrenheit) and no outside wind door that whenever a new customer or delivery pickup driver came in, a rush of freezing cold air also came in. It was quite chilly inside the restaurant for that reason and I had to eat with my jacket on. However that didn't detract from the tasty momos, and I'll certainly be back!

I've walked past this place a few times and was intrigued so I decided to give it a try…read more It has a beautiful, well decorated interior and was kept warm and cozy on a snowy day. They provide complimentary popcorn, which is well seasoned and rich with ghee. I was seated in a chair that was very low to the ground. While outfitted with comfy cushions, I was not sure what the proper was to sit on this chair was and I was too embarrassed to ask. My best guess is that it's meant to be a criss cross applesauce type situation, but I had on wet snow boots and didn't particularly want to do that. This isn't a complaint, but just something to consider for anyone with mobility concerns who might be considering visiting. There are some normal style chairs in the front of the restaurant that I'm sure I would have been switched to had I requested as such. Anyway, onto the food. I ordered the "Lahana Ko Faarzi Bhoj" which arrived on a large round platter with a variety of different dishes. I am very new to this type of food, and most of it was completely unfamiliar to me, which was very exciting. The grain at the center of this platter is "chiura," a rice product which has been pounded flat and dried. It has a light and crunchy texture, and pairs well with the thinner, wet curries it was served with as it really soaks up the liquid and expands in size. I've never had this before and it was very interesting to try. The platter comes with two bowls of warm curry, one with black eyed peas and maybe some potato and the other was darker with meat which I preferred. Both were rich and deep in flavor, but the darker one (pictured on the right) was so savory and well balanced- definitely my favorite part of the meal. They both have some heat to them, the kind that builds at the back of the palette throughout the meal, but none of this food was excessively spicy. The main plate has a ring of various cold dishes around the edge, all of which were unfamiliar to me so I can't necessarily identify them. My favorites were the pieces of well seasoned dark meat chicken and the deep fried egg in the center, but it also included some pickled elements, some ground meat and a small skewer, which I found to be quite tough. I really enjoyed trying new, interesting food in such a beautiful space. The servers were kind and there are many other items on the menu that I'm interested to try. I feel lucky to have this place nearby.

I appreciated the creativity and the cuisine-specificity of the cocktails, and the bartenders are super friendly. The food is there as a nice accompaniment to the drinks, but if you're looking for a Himalayan meal experience and no drinks, I'd probably point you elsewhere in the Jackson Heights neighborhood up Broadway. So if you're in the area drop in Manoji May be there with kind attentive service !

I got a takeout and I was really disappointed with the chicken choila. The dish was extremely bland…read moreand tasted mostly like chili oil with very little depth of flavor. Instead of being smoky or well-seasoned like a proper choila should be, it felt like an oil-heavy plate with minimal balance. It ended up being more greasy than flavorful. For the price, the portion and quality don't justify the cost. I expected bold, fresh spices and char-grilled flavor, but what I got was flat and oily. The reputation sets a high expectation, and this dish didn't come close to meeting it. Unfortunately, I wouldn't order this again.
