    Chicken Jhol Momo
    Serena X.

First off, wonderful customer service - my food was a bit late and the owner kindly offered me some chai to drink while I waited. There's plenty of seating inside. I ordered the Jhool momo with goat, spicy chicken momo, and aloo Tama. I liked the spicy momos better, especially because I like the texture of the half fried half steamed momos. The aloo Tama was a wonderful surprise as I loved the flavor of the bamboo shoots with the black eyed peas, and it's a great portion. I will definitely be returning to try more dishes, especially because of the kind service.

Love everything about this place. The service is friendly and the dining room is huge. The dishes are both exotic and familiar so you can go in either direction. Every dish comes perfectly seasoned and it's consistently delicious. Definitely a local favorite

Located on Queens Boulevard, with the 7 train and buses nearby; also metered street parking. Spacious dining area, and was not busy that weekday lunchtime. Service is great from the two young ladies there who were attentive and helpful. One side of the menu had items that looked more familiar, so focused on the signature ones. Prices may vary depending on the protein. Got the chicken sekuwa and the Ktm Khaja Set non-veg. The sekuwa has grilled meat in herbs and spices- juicy pieces of chicken, mix of spices/flavor is mild. The Khaja set reminded me of a thali but all on one plate. An assortment of tastes and textures. I liked the soybeans (crunchy, little spicy - I did ask for mild, could be a good snack), the chicken chollia and the fried fish (wished there were more than 2 tiny pcs). The puffed and fried beaten rice as accompaniments were new to me, interesting and thought went ok with everything else.

Having lunch with friends here, we got Dal bhat with fish, chicken, also butter chicken with roti. It took awhile for our order to came out, but since everything looks freshly cooked. I won't say it's the best thali/ dal bhat in the area, but my friend said the butter chicken is very good. I would come back to try their tandoori, which i saw what everyone else ordering.

Everything we ordered was delicious -- the tandori chicken was perfectly seasoned, tender and moist. The naan with mozzarella was also very good. The chicken momo were excellent. All the sauces tasted good. The rice was well made. Overall a great experience, good food, good service and super affordable. We spent $53 for two people. Definitely recommend this local gem.

They do carry the legacy of Bajeko Sekuwa overseas but lack little bit in terms of authentic flavors. Having said that I thoroughly enjoy their chicken Lollypop, Tauko Fry , Mustange Alo, Bhatmas sadeko but I would not recommend the Ktm veg khana which was below par . The most exciting part was drinking the Barasinghe beer which is very hard to find in other part of states . Ambience is great and service is good too .

This was on my list of places to check out in the neighborhood since I live so close by and have never been here before. It was empty on Monday night, but as it got later on in the night, people started to come in, and it started to fill up. I'm wondering if it's normally like this on a weeknight. If it is, that's great! The service was great either way. Even though it got busy, they were still very attentive. My friend and I got the Cheese Naan, which was similar to a quesadilla (because it is filled with cheese and has the same texture). I enjoyed it a lot. We also ordered the jhool momo chicken dish. This is like a version of dumplings in this sauce, which made the entire dish salty. I wasn't too fond of it. We also tried the khaja set (non vegetarian). I couldn't eat all of it, but there was a mixture of nuts, vegetables, and meat. The one thing I really enjoyed was the cheese naan. I may have to try and explore other things off the menu to see what else I like at the restaurant.

As soon as you walk in you feel like you are in a village in Nepal with their clay stove display. Very typical. The service was good one of the girls in our party (name starts with an Nis...and ends with a ma) thought one of the servers was cute lol. Food was very authentic and tasted exactly as I've tasted it in Nepal. On top of that the items on the menu you don't just find at just any Nepali place.. they even had bhuttan and tauko. If your are from Nepal or been there you know what I'm talking about. If you're not, you have to go and find out(be open minded). I honestly have not found another nepali restaurant this close to home like this one. So glad we made it to Queens just for this. Vibes!!!!!

this place is busier the later it is at night so if its empty that may be why. ive never been to a nepalese restaurant before but it was one of the only places open 10pm and I hadnt eaten all day - im glad I tried this place though! I got the ktm khaja set which had a bit of everything but my favorite was the gizzard and cold chicken cubes (meat, shocking). I also got the bone soup which was warming and comforting on fall days like these where it starts to get cold at night. The staff were very kind and large groups of nepalese (it looked) ppl were drinking until 11. Definitely authentic nepalese food if you want a culinary adventure!

I went here tonight. It was okay, but I won't go again. It was early so there weren't many people. Service was kind of odd. Maybe one of the servers was new. Decor was also spartan and odd. There are illuminated display spots on the wall with nothing in them...just lighted cubby hole areas with blank wall. I ordered Timmure chicken and both servers kept asking me if that's all I wanted and were suggesting additional dishes. I couldn't tell why, but eventually I realized the chicken dish I ordered didn't come with rice or any vegetables so they were trying to say it wasn't a complete meal. I ordered some garlic naan which was okay. Rice or potatoes wouldn't have made the chicken better. Butter chicken or tandoori chicken would probably been better choices. The chicken came right away. The club soda I ordered came afterwards and the naan eventually came when I was about 1/2 done with the chicken. One of the servers asked me if the chicken was too spicy, which it wasn't for me. I just wasn't super hungry so I ate 1/2 and took the rest home. There are plenty of other places to try in the area that are probably better. It was close to where I'm staying which is the main reason I chose it.

I've not had much Nepalese food before so I'm glad I came with large group of friends so we were able to try a number of items. Our server was very helpful at explaining the menu and giving us recommendations. Almost all the dishes we ordered were quite delicious. We were very surprised by the Sukuti Sandheko which was fried but cold and almost like a jerky. We liked all the momos except for the chilly (fried) momos. We also really liked the crispy rice that came with the Ktm Khaja set. One of my favorite dishes was the bandel (wild boar) which was a deliciously fatty pork belly.

Best food I've ever had!! 10/10

Delicious food! Tastes really fresh 10/10! Will come again. The lamb biryani is my go to now.

Can i give this place 20 stars? This place was suggested to me and i have become such a big fan. Talk about food that is just exotic and bursting with flavor at the same time. It is Nepalese food, so its sorta a little bit Indian, and a little bit asian fused together and voila! Masterpiece food. The chicken noodles and cheese nan are to DIE FOR! Sure, it goes straight to my hips, but i loveee having meat in my trunk! Also, try the chicken fried dumplings. There are no words to describe how amazing their food is. Just go and try it. You'll adore this place just like me.

Ask the Community - Bajeko Sekuwa

    Do they serve halal?

Despite the owner's answer about the food being halal, most Muslims would disagree because there is a wild boar (pig) dish labeled as bandel on the menu.

Does Bajeko Sekuwa serve alcohol? If so, is it a full bar or just beer and wine. If not, does it allow you to byob?

Alcohol was served to the 4 of us. We drank beer. They were out of KingFisher beer. Not sure if BYOB and I recall a bar. Hope this helps

The Chicken Chilly with Rice had tender chicken. I love the onions mixed in. It is not spicy, so you can ask for some house hot sauce (the waiter offered it) if you want more of a kick. The house hot sauce is has a spiciness that builds up! The rice was great for soaking up the sauce (I used it to soak up the johl as well). The Masala Tea had a great spice. I like adding some sugar to help balance the spices (I used ~1 packet, they give you 2, but I'm sure you can ask for more). i wanted to try the Lhaphing, but they don't make it anymore. Hopefully they update their menu to reflect that. Overall, a nice chill space for a small group or solo diner. A couple of the other diners were working on their laptops (like a cafe!)

The only downside in my opinion was that the brisket wasn't too tender and I didn't love the beef flavoring or preparation. The rest of the items were so delicious! Staff were helpful in explaining what each item was, the protein options (a choice of chicken or beef for each), and level of spiciness (not too spicy though the accompanying sauces had a kick). We ordered-- - Kothey momo $9.99: selected the beef filling, this was a lightly pan-fried dumpling with a thin dough wrapper and savory minced beef filling. Served with a medium spicy dipping sauce. Good! - Thai soup momo $12.99: came in a curry broth with vegetables, my friend ordered the chicken momos and they came piping hot in the soup. Tender and juicy chicken filling. - Sandeko momo $11.99: another deep fried momo (this time I asked for beef) topped with a chunky sauce of soybeans, tomato and onion, filled with minced meat. This was another tasty plate! All the momos we ordered came with 8 pieces, while some of the basic flavors come with a couple more pieces. A single plate is a moderate amount of food for a meal though we ended up ordering six different types to share and try. Each stood out in a different way and I'd heartily recommend all. If there was just one critique it was since it was so cold that night (in the teens Fahrenheit) and no outside wind door that whenever a new customer or delivery pickup driver came in, a rush of freezing cold air also came in. It was quite chilly inside the restaurant for that reason and I had to eat with my jacket on. However that didn't detract from the tasty momos, and I'll certainly be back!

They provide complimentary popcorn, which is well seasoned and rich with ghee. I was seated in a chair that was very low to the ground. While outfitted with comfy cushions, I was not sure what the proper was to sit on this chair was and I was too embarrassed to ask. My best guess is that it's meant to be a criss cross applesauce type situation, but I had on wet snow boots and didn't particularly want to do that. This isn't a complaint, but just something to consider for anyone with mobility concerns who might be considering visiting. There are some normal style chairs in the front of the restaurant that I'm sure I would have been switched to had I requested as such. Anyway, onto the food. I ordered the "Lahana Ko Faarzi Bhoj" which arrived on a large round platter with a variety of different dishes. I am very new to this type of food, and most of it was completely unfamiliar to me, which was very exciting. The grain at the center of this platter is "chiura," a rice product which has been pounded flat and dried. It has a light and crunchy texture, and pairs well with the thinner, wet curries it was served with as it really soaks up the liquid and expands in size. I've never had this before and it was very interesting to try. The platter comes with two bowls of warm curry, one with black eyed peas and maybe some potato and the other was darker with meat which I preferred. Both were rich and deep in flavor, but the darker one (pictured on the right) was so savory and well balanced- definitely my favorite part of the meal. They both have some heat to them, the kind that builds at the back of the palette throughout the meal, but none of this food was excessively spicy. The main plate has a ring of various cold dishes around the edge, all of which were unfamiliar to me so I can't necessarily identify them. My favorites were the pieces of well seasoned dark meat chicken and the deep fried egg in the center, but it also included some pickled elements, some ground meat and a small skewer, which I found to be quite tough. I really enjoyed trying new, interesting food in such a beautiful space. The servers were kind and there are many other items on the menu that I'm interested to try. I feel lucky to have this place nearby.

I appreciated the creativity and the cuisine-specificity of the cocktails, and the bartenders are super friendly. The food is there as a nice accompaniment to the drinks, but if you're looking for a Himalayan meal experience and no drinks, I'd probably point you elsewhere in the Jackson Heights neighborhood up Broadway. I prefer Faarzi to Kasthamandap or UpTop in Jackson Heights/Elmhurst, but all three can provide similar live music/fun vibes/cocktail experiences.
