This wasn't my dish but this meal really was one of the best meals I've had out in New York. I got the fish curry Thali. It was free refills for the lentil and all vegetables. I don't know what they put in their lentil side dish but it brought tears to my eyes. They also played great music that added to the lovely and homely ambience. I would go back for this many times. Highly recommend.

Tried and trusted thali spot that I've been frequenting since I transplanted to NY. Food is tasty and they have the classic thali assortments. Small, no frills restaurant but the flavors hit the spot. Can't go wrong with a chicken thali and the portion is great- always lasts me two meals. They also accepted Zelle payments the last time I was there.

One of many Nepalese spots in the neighborhood that many locals frequent! The chicken chilly here is incredibly flavorful and one of my favorites. Beef in the thenthuk is a bit jerky like but the soup itself is warm and hearty. Cannot go wrong with the momos either An authentic spot with comforting and homey food

One of our favorite spots for lunch in the weekend. We have been frequenting this place for over a year. MoMo, tali, mango lassi and everything else.... Super duper yummy and most importantly the prices are really good with the amount of foods and taste. Can't wait to go there again.

Best veggie momo in Jackson Heights! It was recommended by an acquaintance and I'm so glad I tried it. I got the veggie momo twice during my trip and it was consistent. I tried steamed as well as jhol and both were good. If you're looking for veggie momo, look no further. I'm definitely coming back. The service was pleasant as well.

Been coming here for years - thalis are always delicious and their momos always hit the spot. The owners are super nice and even offered us a sample of new desserts from a nearby bakery!

Quality of their fish thali has gone down slightly but it's still a legit place to get Nepali food that keeps the simplicity at heart , try it and thank me later. Update, we just found out that Bikram is now gone, which is likely why the quality of the food has gone down. This is always a bummer, but understandable, still a legit Nepali restaurant.

It's definitely a hole in the wall Nepalese restaurant so if you EVER come around Jackson Heights, don't miss this little gem. Been here twice, and it didn't disappoint. The best part was the free refills of all the side dishes. The owner was very nice and patient with us in explaining what some dishes on the menu were, although limited in english. (Only downside the second time here was the chicken and be here was tough...but that's on us for ordering the pan fried chicken)

My friend and I came here for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon while in Queens. It was around 3-3:30pm when we came in. I picked this place as my friend had never tried Himalayan or Nepalese cuisine before, and I hadn't eaten this sort of food for a long time. The restaurant is small and no-frills, with some indoor seating available. The staff were happy for us to sit inside, but they also had a small outdoor seating area which we chose to sit at. There seemed to be only one man taking orders. He brought us menus and water right away and then came back soon after to take our food orders. They have a lot of options on the menu, especially vegetarian options. We ordered a plate of steamed vegetable momos to share, as well as a potato dish which I forgot the name of. My friend had the vegetable thali for her main dish, while I had the vegetarian samayabajee. The samayabajee was very interesting. It contained flattened rice, which seemed like uncooked rice had been flattened. It had no flavor and was very crunchy. The entire platter had a lot of crunchy textures, including some sort of pine nuts and chickpeas. I enjoyed it a lot. My friend's vegetable thali tasted more like something you could find in an Indian restaurant, although she said the flavors were very different. Her dish contained some steamed greens, and several different lentil dishes alongside rice. The momos were delicious. I've had momos on several different occasions and they are one of my favorite things to eat when it comes to Himalayan cuisine. The restaurant also had two different sauces placed on the table that we tried them with; one was very spicy, and one was nutty. Both were delicious. We ended up having a lot of food left over, while the price of everything was a bargain. We ended up paying only $30 altogether for everything we ate and had food to take home. I'd definitely come back to this restaurant if I'm craving Himalayan food in the future.

Kant spoke of the categorical imperative with regard to the philosophy of morals. I speak of the categorical imperative with regard to the food at Lali Guras, i.e. if you are (1) in Jackson Heights and (2) are hungry, then you MUST visit Lali Guras to gorge your wanting stomach with the riches of this restaurant. The staff here are friendly, the ambience is nice, but most importantly the food is delicious and the prices are excellent. We ended up ordering too much food, because the portions were larger than anticipated considering the prices: - Steamed beef momos ($5) were VOLUPTUOUS and TENDER. Extremely satisfying. - Pork thenthuk ($6) was MASSIVE and RICH. Very filling. - Beef choila thali ($9) was SUCCULENT and VARIED, as it included an assortment of little dishes of goodies. At one point I was even offered free refills on a few of the items! Not sure if this is standard, but this has never happened to me at a restaurant and was deeply appreciated. If you like Nepali/Himalayan food and are in Jackson Heights, Lali Guras is the natural choice.

Raymond and I visited Jackson Heights to check out the Momo crawl, and we instantly decided not to do it. We didn't really want to pay $10 each for a passport and then wander around to different restaurants to wait half an hour and pay $1 for a momo each - so we decided to check out one of the many Tibetan restaurants in the area. I had no idea that there was such an abundance of Tibetan food here, and we stumbled upon Lali Guras. It is totally a hole in the wall restaurant - no frills, just simple, cheap, and authentic food. Okay, I can't say for sure that it's authentic, but all these reviews seem to indicate that it is and the flavors were really different from anything I've had. The servers were speaking in a language that I've never heard, and the food was bold and unapologetic. + Steamed pork momos ($5) - 5/5 - We got 8 large momos for $5! This completely validated our decision to not participate in the momo crawl because we got to enjoy our momos comfortably. Raymond and I have both had momos (him at another Tibetan restaurant, me at the World Fare) but have never liked them all that much. These were great - large soft dumplings with a firm skin that supported tasty, flavorful filling. I would highly recommend these momos. I didn't even need any of the accompanying sauce to enjoy them. + Fish thali ($10) - 5/5 - I'm giving this a 5/5 because I 100% recommend the vegetarian thali LOL. Turns out the fish thali is just the vegetarian thali + a bowl of fish curry. I am generally not a fan of fish curry for textural reasons, so disregard my thoughts on the fish. I think it was well-flavored; I just didn't wanna eat the fish. The daal was wonderfully smoky and flavorful, and we both loved it. The saag was sauteed simply with some light sauce (reminiscent of Chinese flavors, but a little different), and we also loved the way it complemented the daal. The other dish was a bit sour and not to our taste, but those other two were real hits. To our surprise, the server came around giving us refills of the vegetarian stuff! SUCH an amazing deal. I was thrilled. And also totally stuffed. + Beef chilli ($11) - 2/5 - I was really excited for this, especially after it came out because it looked SO GOOD. My mouth watered at the smell and appearance, and then I bit into the beef. Umm, what? It was really tough and I was confused and sad because this had so much potential. Raymond then told me that the yak that he had tried at the other Tibetan restaurant was also similarly tough and stringy, and mentioned that traditional Tibetan food is cooked in at a high altitude, which means it's hard for water to boil. This entree led us down on a rabbit hole in which we read articles and articles on Tibetan food, and we learned a lot culturally. So overall this was a good experience :p + Mango lassi ($2.50) - 5/5 - Very normal mango lassi (aka excellent as always) but for like half the price at most places I go. :D Overall, I would totally recommend Lali Guras as a painless introduction to Tibetan food, but probably avoid the beef chilli.

    Fried Fish Thali
    Goliath I.

It's small and not the fancy one but the food is delicious and great portions for their price. What's more, you can ask for extra portions of the items in Thali with no additional charge. Staff members are friendly. If you aren't into spicy food it might be a bit too spicy but I love spicy so it's just perfect. I wish the place would be more spacious and clean but overall I'd love to come back again.

The store was on the emptier side probably given the weather outside, with only about a third of their 30 or so seats taken. Seating is first come first serve, no formal waiter service, you order at the counter and they bring the food when it's ready. Staff were helpful in explaining what each item was, the protein options (a choice of chicken or beef for each), and level of spiciness (not too spicy though the accompanying sauces had a kick). We ordered-- - Kothey momo $9.99: selected the beef filling, this was a lightly pan-fried dumpling with a thin dough wrapper and savory minced beef filling. Served with a medium spicy dipping sauce. Good! - Thai soup momo $12.99: came in a curry broth with vegetables, my friend ordered the chicken momos and they came piping hot in the soup. Tasty and warm comfort food for a very cold evening. - Chili momo $11.99: deep fried and served with a tangy sweet and sour chili sauce, peppers and onions, my friend ordered the beef version. The spice level on the chili sauce was pretty mild. Yummy. - Samosa chaat momo $11.99: sprinkled with diced tomato, onion, cilantro doused with green chutney and sitting in a shallow bed of yogurt sauce, these deep fried momo were so flavorful. - Tandoori momo $11.99: I'm not sure if these were baked in a tandoori oven but they were sure seasoned with spices to taste like it , and delicious! Tender and juicy chicken filling. - Sandeko momo $11.99: another deep fried momo (this time I asked for beef) topped with a chunky sauce of soybeans, tomato and onion, filled with minced meat. This was another tasty plate! All the momos we ordered came with 8 pieces, while some of the basic flavors come with a couple more pieces. A single plate is a moderate amount of food for a meal though we ended up ordering six different types to share and try. Each stood out in a different way and I'd heartily recommend all. If there was just one critique it was since it was so cold that night (in the teens Fahrenheit) and no outside wind door that whenever a new customer or delivery pickup driver came in, a rush of freezing cold air also came in. It was quite chilly inside the restaurant for that reason and I had to eat with my jacket on. However that didn't detract from the tasty momos, and I'll certainly be back!

They provide complimentary popcorn, which is well seasoned and rich with ghee. I was seated in a chair that was very low to the ground. While outfitted with comfy cushions, I was not sure what the proper was to sit on this chair was and I was too embarrassed to ask. My best guess is that it's meant to be a criss cross applesauce type situation, but I had on wet snow boots and didn't particularly want to do that. This isn't a complaint, but just something to consider for anyone with mobility concerns who might be considering visiting. There are some normal style chairs in the front of the restaurant that I'm sure I would have been switched to had I requested as such. Anyway, onto the food. I ordered the "Lahana Ko Faarzi Bhoj" which arrived on a large round platter with a variety of different dishes. I am very new to this type of food, and most of it was completely unfamiliar to me, which was very exciting. The grain at the center of this platter is "chiura," a rice product which has been pounded flat and dried. It has a light and crunchy texture, and pairs well with the thinner, wet curries it was served with as it really soaks up the liquid and expands in size. I've never had this before and it was very interesting to try. The platter comes with two bowls of warm curry, one with black eyed peas and maybe some potato and the other was darker with meat which I preferred. Both were rich and deep in flavor, but the darker one (pictured on the right) was so savory and well balanced- definitely my favorite part of the meal. They both have some heat to them, the kind that builds at the back of the palette throughout the meal, but none of this food was excessively spicy. The main plate has a ring of various cold dishes around the edge, all of which were unfamiliar to me so I can't necessarily identify them. My favorites were the pieces of well seasoned dark meat chicken and the deep fried egg in the center, but it also included some pickled elements, some ground meat and a small skewer, which I found to be quite tough. I really enjoyed trying new, interesting food in such a beautiful space. The servers were kind and there are many other items on the menu that I'm interested to try. I feel lucky to have this place nearby.

I appreciated the creativity and the cuisine-specificity of the cocktails, and the bartenders are super friendly. The food is there as a nice accompaniment to the drinks, but if you're looking for a Himalayan meal experience and no drinks, I'd probably point you elsewhere in the Jackson Heights neighborhood up Broadway. Without being anything over the top I felt it was a very nice balance of dark, old, new and modern - where needed. I really liked the feel and the space. The food - finally my first momo platter. Again being a vegetarian it's hard to come by. It was insanely good. Nothing like ordering "dumplings" if U ask me. But so much more wholesome dough, filling, and fresh herbs. And the 2 sauces were intensely different from any other condiment I've ever had. We also ordered an amazing black tea with honey lemon ginger - my fav. And paneer chilli, and aloo timur. Both just as great with no oily, greasy, saltiness to it and fresh herbs and spices. At the end we caught up with some small talk with the young woman who served us and said bye til we come here again - debility for the jhol momo and the brunch platters next.

This was early afternoon so it was pretty empty the owner was very nice he suggested Kothey Momo Goat which was tender and very well seasoned, then we had Butter Chicken Marsala also delicious ! We got a Curry Lamb. & Samosa's too for a friend to try and Of course we ordered garlic naan ! The mango lassie is perfection ! So if you're in the area drop in Manoji May be there with kind attentive service !

Instead of being smoky or well-seasoned like a proper choila should be, it felt like an oil-heavy plate with minimal balance. It ended up being more greasy than flavorful. For the price, the portion and quality don't justify the cost. I expected bold, fresh spices and char-grilled flavor, but what I got was flat and oily. I actually enjoyed my homemade meal more than this takeout. A renowned establishment like Bajeko Sekuwa should honestly do better. The reputation sets a high expectation, and this dish didn't come close to meeting it. Unfortunately, I wouldn't order this again.
