Gujaratis make wonderful vegetarian food, in India and right here in Orlando, Florida. It's just two blocks up Lancaster from the unbiquitous Orange Blossom Trail. Mr. Patel, who started the business, is a cheerful man who I've known, through the restaurant, for years now. He, his wife, his son, and others have managed to find a way to grow this business without sacrificing their home cooking identity. While personal taste is always the deciding factor, you will find 9 things in 10 suit you to a tee. This place is not fancy. It's one dining room, with chairs and tables, without metal utensils, tablecloths, cloth napkins, candles, soft music, and the rest of the stuff you have on a romantic date. No, it's a buffet lunch place with plastic utensils and disposable plates. But let the snobs have their cloth napkins... we come to eat! And if you think, "How good can a small, no frills, family-style Indian restaurant be?", I'll only say that this little restaurant is catering a four day Indian weddding celebration... in BALTIMORE! That's in Maryland, for the geographically challenged, not Florida! Call before you go to Khasiyat because sometimes they close to manage the catering work. Khasiyat is the go to place for Gujarati home style food in Orlando area. They have lunch buffet and small selection of pre packaged snacks including sweet and savory offerings. Perfect for visitors and locals alike. I have a few out of town friends who are always eager to visit Khasiyat every time they are in town. I love their food is all vegetarian and cooked in typical Gujarati style of spice levels. Their Gujarati dal reminds me of all the weddings I had attended while growing up. The ambiance is not the best but who is looking at ambiance when food is so good! Parking is usually full so prepare in advance for that. Recommend calling ahead because they frequently close for private events. It's mostly self service and with styrofoam plates and plastic cups. My favorite Indian lunch buffet, vegetarian or otherwise! As usual, I mostly have no idea what I'm eating, but I have some of every item offered, and as always, every bite is scrumptious! Omigod, so good! Cannot recommend highly enough! Always a great variety of flavors, some savory, some sweet, some bright, some hot (my sinuses are clearing nicely) but not too hot. This is unlike some I've been to, usually south Indian, where everything tastes sort of the same, and often rather muddy. They're never very busy at lunch, their unpretentious Lancaster/SOBT location could be better I suppose, but there's a reason for that: a lot of their business is catering and the bakery - and the bread is absolutely to die for! I've seen them doing cooking classes/demonstrations when the kitchen door swings open. The kitchen is HUGE, the dining room rather cozy. But the food! Omigod the food! I swear every time I'm going to keep it down to a reasonable amount, but it's so good, I always eat so much you need a wheelbarrow to get me outta there! Khasiyat is one of the most popular restaurants for catering of Indian food for Indian weddings. We were impressed with the food they served at a recent wedding and we decided to try out their restaurant. The restaurant itself is located in OBT (orange blossom trail) in a not so great area. There's limited parking and when walking inside, it's just a basic space no decorations or anything fancy. Simple chairs and tables as well. We went on a Saturday and they had a buffet from 11:30-2:30. The cost is $16.99 per person. Also, when you enter the restaurant you can seat yourself and then the attendant will ask you if you want roti or puri. After picking your selection, you can then go to the buffet. The plates are disposable paper plates as well as the utensils. Please note the buffet is not a huge spread but they have unique offerings of gujurati cuisine such as rice, daal, appetizer, 2 or 3 curries as well as 2 types of desserts. The food itself was excellent and fresh! The roti and puri were hot and seemed like it was just made. I enjoyed the paneer masala as well as the desserts (mango shrikhand) which is like a pudding. Their food isn't overly spicy and not oily. It's the right amount of flavor. When you are done with your meal, you will need to dispose of your trash and even water is self serve. You can also then head to register to pay for your meal. If you are looking for a fancy restaurant, this is not the spot to go but if you are looking for simple high quality gujurati or vegetarian cuisine, do come here but come around opening time since there is ample parking. read more

One of our favs for Indian Gujarati Vegetarian food in Orlando. First time going in for buffet. Located in a pretty shady shopping center. They also sell Gujarati sweets and snacks. The restaurant has a very basic setup with kind of dated furniture. Setup for fast casual service. The sole attendant stayed behind the counter 99% of the time. We chose a table and I went up to the attendant and told her we are going to go for buffet, she responds by asking if want roti or puri. The food on the buffet was average at best. A bit too oily for my taste. The desserts on the buffet was jelabi and rus malai both on point. Note for myself: stick to the snacks and a La carte menu items for next time. I am a fan. In a somewhat sketchy neighborhood, the restaurant is located at a small strip mall. The dining room seats about 55 and is quite ample. During the day, outside light floods the space. Decor is minimalist immigrant 90's, with vintage tables and chairs from that decade. The foyer hides a warehousing area packed with boxes. Don't be discouraged, though, this food is spectacular and service is top notch. Ordered the Punjabi thali, with rice, two curries, a samosa, bread, chutneys and dessert. Oh, and dal, dal too. Hole in the wall with such amazing food! This place is kind of out of the way a little in an unassuming tiny plaza. Average plus ambiance. Clean though! We had Chole Puri, Undhiyu and Thali. Both were super awesome. Service was awesome. They modified items to our taste and spice level. To have distinctly different food items which are core specialty of those regions and to have finger licking food taste in all of them was a huge factor in this review. This is my all time favorite authentic Indian restaurant in Orlando! There is NO MEAT for you meat lovers be aware BUT honestly you won't miss it at all! The quality and taste of the food is amazing! Khayisat easily became one of my favorite Indian restaurants. They have a small buffet, but it's more diverse than other Indian buffets I have seen, and they are completely vegetarian. It's very simple, decoration is minimal. The only thing in the room is a large TV playing Bollywood movies on a loop. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The owner explained the menu and made recommendations. You order and pay at the counter. I chose the chana masala, which is my favorite Indian dish. It comes with two pieces of puffy bread. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food A variety of vegetarian dishes. Kadhi and dal, three varieties of different vegetables, Lilva Kachori, kadhi pakoda, Bagan Bhartu, Palak paneer, dum aloo, gulab jamun, salad, white rice, carrot pickle, raita, Rose milk Shake in the buffet. They served unlimited freshly made roti and Poori right at our table which were soft. Finger licking food taste in all of them was a huge factor in this review. Highly recommend this place! I've heard a lot about this restaurant's catering division from various of my Mum's friends. Apparently, its the go-to place in Orlando's Indian community for ordering catering, especially for weddings and graduation parties. So I was excited to find out they also had a sit down restaurant, but I was warned repeatedly to make sure to call the restaurant and confirm they were open, as some folks had turned up and the place was closed, hours of operation non-withstanding. Duly warned, I called and confirmed they were open one Saturday, as this restaurant is a bit of a trek for me, since this place is located in the Airport area, and I live in Apopka, a good hour away. Its located in a very unassuming plaza, and mum and I almost missed the turn-off into the parking lot. Once we entered the place, it felt like time-warp to a 1980s restaurant in Bombay (side note: the city will never be Mumbai to me). There was read vinyl seating, a massive TV showing a bollywood movie with SRK and Kajol and then to the fair side was 5-6 containers of Indian snacks like chivda, gathia, etc. Mum and I were a bit taken aback by the prices in the menu, and decided to get the Gujarati Thali ($18.98) to share. I'm glad we split it, because this was a massive plate of food! We got to choose x2 lentils and so for my choice I got (a) Dudhi Chana which is lentils with squash and then mum's choice was (b) Undhiyu which is Gujarati mixed veggie that takes ages to cook and mum said was very difficult to make for the Indian home cook. Along with these two lentils, we also got Daal, 4 rotli, rice, spicy pickle, raitu, papad, sweet (dessert), onion tomato salad and Kachori (so that's a total of 11 items!). The sweet we got was home made cardamon srikhand, which tasted amazing. I really enjoyed the food. I'm not a pickle-fancier, but I checked with the server and their's was made in-house and you can definitely taste the difference compared to a store bought pickle jar! I also liked that this restaurant showcased regional Indian cuisine and plan to come back to try the other two thalis. We also purchased 2 pounds of dokla and this also tasted wonderfully authentic. As per the server, everything is made in-house except for the paneer. However its a four star for me, because of the Indian snacks (also made in-store) that we purchased. After we got home, one bite confirmed that the chivda, gathia, and chakli that we had purchased was under-cooked. It tasted raw, as if the chickpea flour hadn't been baked/ fried for the correct time and gave us upset tummies. We really enjoyed our experience at khasiyat! Pure vegetarian- aunthetic Gujarati cuisine. They do serve chat, indo- Chinese and South Indian items as well. We tried the buffet as well as the Kathiyawadi thali. All the food was amazing! It was freshly made and reminded me of home!! Enjoyed the ringan no Oro, khaman dhokla and gota the most! We also tried the Yuka chips. They were delicious!! ( With a indo-chinese sauce/ coating) The sweets- Ladu, boondi and aam ka Ras were really good too! Enjoyed the hot rotis with all the food!! Our favorite Indian restaurant. I reviewed Khasiyat a couple years ago. Hadn't been here for a long, due to Covid restrictions, and just didn't go to Orlando much at all. But this summer they closed briefly to do a little remodel. Much nicer inside, but still not overwhelmed with Indian decor, it doesn't need it. Vegetarian lunch buffet was fantastic, but limited options, it's a small place. You can order off the menu, but since we have limited knowledge of Indian food, the buffet is best for us.
