Khinkali House is a fantastic spot for authentic Georgian food. I ordered the charcuterie plate, boiled and fried khinkali with cheese, beef, and lamb, plus the sturgeon skewer, and everything was flavorful and very reasonably priced. The khinkali were easily the highlight of the meal. Service was incredibly quick. I was seated right away, the food came out fast, and the staff gave great recommendations on what to order. The atmosphere is warm and casual, with a cozy dining room that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy the meal. I would have loved some complimentary bread, but that's a very minor complaint. Overall, a great experience and a place I'd definitely return to.

We came for a light snack before dinner It was my first time trying Armenian-Georgian soup dumplings (the khinkali). We tried the lamb and the beef boiled ( traditional way) and then we tried the mushrooms fried. I would say traditional method is ok but those mushroom ones fries were excellent so I'm thinking them fried must be even better. The dumplings are quite big but they're mostly empty with a bit of ground meat and a thin broth. It's tasty but if you're expecting a soup dumpling like DTF (din tai fung) then this isn't it. It's heartier and less refined than the DTF version. The hummus is great and so was the khachapuri (Georgia egg and cheese bread boats). The staff was super nice and very accommodating to our family. We had a bunch of rambunctious kids and they're were super nice with them. The restaurant is nice and very spacious it can definitely have some big parties in there. They have a full bar and the prices are reasonable for their drinks. Would def come back

While the culinary world is currently obsessed with the delicate, bite-sized Xiao Long Bao--which didn't even show up until the 1870s in Shanghai--the Georgians have been perfecting this craft since the 13th-century Mongol invasions. Khinkali is the OG. It's the rugged, fist-sized ancestor that doesn't need a bamboo steamer basket or a delicate, nervous touch. It's a meal that requires soul, a bit of primitive technique, and a complete disregard for your clean shirt. Tucked away on Artsakh Avenue, Khinkali House is where you go to pay your respects to this ancient culinary titan. Atmosphere and the Art of the Rainy Day I happened to drop in on a rare, miserable rainy day in Glendale, and let me tell you, sitting out in their roomy, covered patio area while the water drummed against the roof was pure atmospheric gold. It's the kind of setting that demands heavy, unapologetic comfort food. The service here is sharp, warm, and attentive--the kind of old-school hospitality that makes you feel like a regular before you've even opened the menu. The Opening Act: Borscht with Soul You don't just jump into a pile of massive dumplings. You have to prepare the palate. I started with a bowl of their Borscht, and it was exquisite. It arrived as a deep, vibrant crimson pool of beet-infused soul, swimming with tender beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes. It was earthy, slightly sweet, and served at a temperature that could ward off any chill in your bones. It's the kind of bowl that tells you immediately that this kitchen isn't just following a recipe; they're honoring a bloodline. Khinkali House 8/10 Found this gem one Saturday when we were in town. Originally, we were going to this other place down the street but even on a Saturday at ~2 pm, the other place had almost an hour wait. Regardless, this place was amazing. No wait around 2 pm and really quick service. Famous for their dumplings, you can really see why. We grabbed the mushroom ones, both a steamed and fried. I do recommend the steamed. You're able to really taste and savory the soup. The cucumber salad and bread were highlights as well. Pro-tip: bring a group here so you can share things family style! First time here and I'll definitely be back. Our waitress was amazing.. Very welcoming, attentive, and helpful. Here's what we ordered: Cheese Plate & Charcuterie Board - Would absolutely order again. Great variety and perfect for sharing. Zhengalov Hatz - Loved it. Grilled Khachapuri - Solid and satisfying. Mediterranean Salad - Refreshing with a great mix of herbs that blended perfectly together. Khinkali (Fried Cheese, Beef, and Mushroom) - All were amazing. Definitely a must-order. Pork, Osetrina, Shrimp, and Lamb Skewers - Not bad at all, but probably wouldn't order them again. Overall, really enjoyed the experience, food, and service. Looking forward to coming back :)

The food was not what we expected. We had one of each Khinkali dumpling (boiled lamb, boiled beef, fried mushroom, friend cheese), the pickled veggies, borscht, and zhengyalov hatz. The salted chickpeas were a strange app, but could've be also we aren't regular connoisseurs of this cuisine. Maybe we incorrectly came in thinking this was comparable to Din tai fung which it definitely was not. Our experience here felt like every dish was an appetizer. The best dish we had was the zhengyalov hatz which is probably purchased from the place nearby that only does this and unlikely to be prepared in house. We left full but unsatisfied. Most of the food was heavy / greasy to us and no real main entree. The best Khinkali of the ones we got was the steamed beef. It didn't have a whole lot of flavor still. We likely won't be coming back because this type of food I guess just isn't for us, but clearly they have a lot of supporters who like it so it just comes down to personal presence for us. We came on a weekday late lunch hour and it was not too busy and service was great. The first water glass brought to me was chipped in two places but was replaced when I mentioned it. Definitely should be doing checks before putting it on the table. They could do much better on presentation. It's just - couple wet dumplings laying there on a white plate. It's what it would look like if I were to serve this at home"m. When you pay to eat out, you expect a little extra of an experience that you wouldn't be getting at home - for the preparation, plating, and presentation. Feedback is to add better presentation of your food, it could help it taste better for having the extra visual appeal.

Came here today for lunch. Never had Georgian food before. So I was quite excited to see what that's all about. I really like the interior. Its quiet. It looks elegant. I like the exposed ceiling with the chandeliers. There's also seating outside as well. They have a pretty good menu. With so many Eastern European dishes and drinks. We ordered the following: 1. Mashed red bean (Lobi Pashtet)- 4 little clumps of red beans. Reminded me of raw meat. It was a good appetizer. Good seasoning. Not over powering. But pleasing to the palate. 2. Khinkali- they have 4 different types of these large Georgian dumplings. And they have them either fried or traditional, which is boiled. Reminds me of Xiao Long Baos or Chinese soup dumplings. But just a lot larger. Good flavors. Good amount of filling. I prefer the fried ones better though in that it held its shape easier than the boiled ones. The beef and lamb ones are a lot better than the cheese and mushroom ones. There's definitely a technique to eating them!! 3. Quinoa salad- this was really good. I enjoyed the slices of green apples. Added some sweetness and tartness. It was light and refreshing. 4. Beef skewer- the beef was tough. Maybe because we ordered it medium well. It wasn't that great. 5. Khachapuri (regular)- it was small. Like a little loaf of cheesy bread. Bread was crunchy on the outside but very cheesy and warm on the inside. 6. Chicken wings- this was one of the bigger disappointments. $15 for 4 anemic tiny chicken wings. Not crunchy at all. Extremely salted. And they just looked really sad. They belong more in the dollar per wing sode of things. 7. Okroshka drink- a yogurt based Russian drink. Had lots of dill and cucumber in it. It was interesting and unique. 8. Honey cake- this was really good. Light, fluffy, not crazy sweet. It was just really small though. 9. Armenian coffee- little cups of coffee with the grounds on the bottom. It wasn't strong at all, like turkish coffee. It was kind of weak and anemic. 10. Chickpeas- they had a bowl of this on the table to begin thr meal with. They were really tasty! Cooked well, had a nice bite to them. And flavors were just popping! Overall the food was good. Is it authentic? I think so. I have nothing to compare it too. But it was new and unique to me. I love the vibes here. They use that ugly butcher paper for the tables like Raffis does. Food does come out quickly here. Its family style type of eating here and we did order a lot of food, but the bill does reflect that. They charge a non cash pay fee which I find to be upsetting, because who payd cash these days...... And they didn't tell me about it beforehand. Must try here that we ordered would be the quinoa salad and the honey cake. I would never order the chicken wings again. The okroshka I was glad to try but wouldn't order it again. Everything else was OK to pretty good. If you've never had Georgian food or Armenian food, I'd definitely recommend it.

We had several delicious variations of meat and cheese and dough that were very good. Wasn't really feeling the white tablecloth setting/vibe. We thought they would have a fun selection of Georgian wine including orange wine but that was not the case. The one Georgian dry white wine and one Georgian dry red wine we tried were not good, but I guess they were kind of cheap at $10/glass. The only issue is they accidentally poured us an extra glass of red, took it away from our table, and still charged us for it (and we didn't realize until after we'd paid and left). We also wanted to try a little baklava at the end and they made it sound like the pieces were really small so we ordered two not realizing they were massive and $10 each! It was a...fine restaurant but I do not think I will be coming back.

Im a fan. I've been here a few times and have enjoyed each experience. When I think Armenian food, this is the place I think of. Grilled Meats - it's all good. My favorite will always be the lamb with the salmon following as a close second. Dumplings - I like that you can order per unit so you can try a variety of different flavors. Honey Cake - my absolutely favorite. Say yes, every time. General Abiance - I prefer sitting outside. It's a bit bright inside. The outdoor area is more vibey and a bit more intimate.

Food was good but the service was absolutely abhorrent. We ordered beef shish kebab, it only came with one sad excuse layer of lavash that was already soaked. We asked for more lavash and they did not disclose that they would charge us for it. They charged us 4 dollars for a sad amount of lavash(see photo below). Genuinely baffling. It did not end there. We also ordered a Caesar's salad. They brought out fries instead, and at the time we thought they were just being nice so we didn't say anything about it. The salad never came out and the server made the poor excuse of saying that they heard us say "seasoned fries". (What is the "seasoned" portion I don't even know it was regular fries.). Do better khinkali house. Train your employees. Very disappointing.

First time having Armenian/Georgian food. My friend took us here so that we could finally try it. We ordered: Khachapuri- Georgian Cheese bread Mediterranean Salad - Tomatoes and cucumbers tossed with herbs, olive oil and spices Khinkali (Boiled) - Beef, Cheese and Mushroom Khinkali (Fried) - Beef, Cheese and Mushroom Napoleon Mikado Overall, everything is excellent. I loved the Khachapuri and the fried Khinkali. The Napoleon was also great. Would definitely come back and try other items - specially the skewers.

Their khinkalis are great! We tried boiled meat/mushroom/cheese flavors and were not disappointed! The only suggestion if you order khinkali is to get original meat OR mushroom ones. We did not like cheese flavor at all, it was a bit too oily and generic. It was good to try it for the first time but meat and mushroom flavors are the best:) read more

The mushroom and cheese khinkali were very nice, with the mushroom especially having a good nostalgic flavor. Along with the pileli soup, they were great for the cold and rainy weather outside when we came to the restaurant. I really liked the pileli soup, but if you don't like yogurt-based soups you might not enjoy it. The phyllo dough on top is a great touch. My sister ordered more khinkali, some salad, and a steak skewer. Her criticism was that for the price she would have preferred two skewers instead of one. To be fair, the waitress very upfront with us and said that the price was for a single skewer. It came on lavash, some thinly sliced onions, and a small dish of a tomato-based sauce that was pretty good. That being said I would also prefer two skewers instead of one for that price, and maybe for the khinkali to be a little bigger and to have more filling inside. Our waitress came to refill our water several times and asked how everything was. She was very polite and helpful. I actually wasn't expecting this sort of service at all, so it was a pleasant surprise. I would like to go back and try some other items. read more

Finally decided to take a break from my studies and treat myself to a solo brunch date. I ordered the regular boiled Khinkali with ground beef, sturgeon, beef steak, and potato skewer. Let me tell you this, I had Khinkali at a Georgian restaurant in Armenia and it was what I thought, the best Khinkali I ever had. Khinkali house is equal, or possibly better than the Khinkali I had in Armenia. I posted the picture on my Snapchat and got so many many replies lol. They also serve alcohol too. Do not come here without drinking Vodka. Otherwise you won't get the full experience. And lastly Giliana was super nice and sweet. Definitely coming back here with friends. read more

Had a craving for dumplings and no plans for the day, so I googled "best dumplings" and found Khinkali House on a list. SO GLAD I decided to go with something a "little different" (and closer than San Gabriel) because this place was amazing. I loved everything about it. Hidden a little bit off the street, it had a nice, shaded ambience I really appreciated. The waitress was extremely helpful and walked me through some advice on what to try, so I went with a Khinkali sampler of beef, mushroom, and cheese. I also ordered the dolmas, which is always a good choice, but the dumplings are the real star. Very fresh and vibrant flavors -- could really tell the difference after a few recent restaurant disappointments that the food was exceptionally high quality and nourishing, really hit the spot after swimming on a hot day. I did eat the top of the khinkali nobs (you're not supposed to, just the handle to grab and teabag yourself with the dumpling, I love foods that are theatrical to eat) but it's just "more dumpling" and to quote the waitress "we don't eat those but it's ok it won't hurt you." I was still hungry after all of that and also ordered the Pilmini mixed with CRAZY RICH FRESH sour cream (as recommended by the waitress) and LOVED IT. It's a big serving and a little $$$, but was more than worth it and took the rest home to go. "Siri, find me the Best Dumplings" outing = great success. I'll be back! read more

For as popular as this restaurant is, management does the customers a disservice by having only 2 servers for a busy Saturday night. From my experience based on the size of the restaurant there should have been at least 5 servers to provide adequate service. I don't think we saw our server unless we were able to somehow wave her down. In addition it appears the kitchen staff is also understaffed as it is unheard of to wait over 30-45 minutes for a kabob to arrive after ordering and to make it worse the kabobs were over cooked. While the food had great flavor, the dinning experience was subpar due to the poor service and long waiting times for your meal to arrive. read more

Update: Elite Family Restaurant? I should change my review, I had no idea that depressing display came with entertainment. Seriously who are you kidding? If you consider that fine dining you clearly need to get out more. That chicken skewer should be considered an embarrassment in both presentation and quality. You can lie to me, but really why lie to yourself? Way overpriced. Four small chunks of chicken on a skewer for $9 and 3 shrimp for $6 was a complete waste of my time and money. It was honestly a major disappointment eating here. I should have left when I saw the menu. read more

Great food. They have food you can't find at other places. It is freshly made. My boyfriend and I came here for our 10 year anniversary. We liked both fried and boiled dumplings (if you get cheese dumplings get it fried). The khachapuri has great texture. The satsivi is good too and if you have lavash bread you should use the sauce as a dip. read more

Mellow ambiance Don't understand the music but I can totally feel it. Service and food are super! Surprised after seeing the prices aren't too expensive after all in Los Angeles prices are through the roof. Galina is awesome she was very informative and polite. I love polite wait staff it just makes you feel like some old school European restaurant where waiters still used sir and miss! Truly great. The blinchik and lamb chops my favorite of course after the dumplings. Galina told us which ones to eat fried vs boiled. There's some extensive reasoning apparently how to eat it. The long and short of it is I've been to this restaurant before about a year ago and the food was great and now just better with apparently new management. The food is native to Georgia I believe very similar to Russian. I would definitely come back here again but boy is it delicious (but heavy :D) read more

Had dinner with an Armenian friend and she promised an incredible meal and she kept her promise! The food was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent. We sat on the heated patio and it was perfect. We had the Georgian cheese bread, a cheese veggie appetizer plate, and the dumplings were heaven! We had boiled beef, mushroom, and cheese dumplings and fried cheese dumplings. (Any meal that revolves around bread and cheese and I'm a very happy girl!) We finished with Armenian coffees and the honey cake. Somehow, I didn't even feel over-full. Everything was wonderful. I live 60 miles away and I can't wait to come back. read more

Downgrading my review after recent visits. All portions on their menu are definitely tiny. TOO TINY! I don't know what these guys are thinking but such small portions are generally not expected at Georgian or Armenian restaurants. If you intend to normally eat and drink and not just limit yourself to Khinkali/Dumplings, expect to spend about $50-$70 per person because you'll need to likely order 3-4 items for each hungry person. Dumplings also seem to have gotten worse. Anyone that knows what a real Khinkali is supposed to be like will know what I'm talking about. They're shaped wrong (falling over), dough is too chewy/stretchy, filling is overdone with greens, etc. I can buy some some frozen khinkali that are even better. read more

This was my first time experiencing this style of dumplings. It's called Khinkali, which also happens to be the name of the establishment. I'm giving them a five star for a couple reasons. 1- it really was delicious, and 2- from here on out all my future Khinkali experiences will be compared to this place. Most people will associate "dumpling" with Asian food. As did I. The dumplings here are Russian and Georgian in origin. They were offered in 3 or 4 different flavors, and steamed or fried. I ordered one of each flavor in steamed and fried style. They were all amazing. From the cheese, to the mushroom, to the beef. All were great. I wouldn't even pick a favorite. The flavors are mild but distinct. A great way for non adventurous people to step out of their norm. As with most russian food places, side dishes and appetizers are a must. I ordered the mixed pickle plate, and a plate of just garbanzo beans. I was not too hungry when I went, I mainly just wanted to try it. I had no idea how large the dumplings are. Excellent armenian restaurant. Oh boy! Where do I start, the atmosphere, the welcoming and warm feeling one gets when entering the restaurant, the smells of the delicious dishes being prepared in the kitchen, we get seated and the beautiful waitress explained what the dishes were and recommended . so i went here in the afternoon for some lunch and ordered a few things. we ordered a cherry compote to drink and some water at first. the water had a bug in it and they brought out the wrong compote. we then waited for the food and tbh it was all ehh. we decided to pay ahead of time after eating so that we can sit and talk about stocks and before we were going to leave we were planning on leaving a cash tip but our waiter jenya or jake or whatever the guys name was. he was extremely rude and came to the table mid conversation and said we should make sure we tip before we leave. very very unprofessional. after him saying that and walking away very rudely. there was absolutely no way we would leave a tip after that. so rude. would not recommend to a friend read more

I've been to many restaurants and I love to compare the place where I'm eating and where I've ate and so far this is the best place, we've ate the steak skewer, salmon skewer, Khinkali which we ate every kind they had, seasoned fries, and the mushroom marinade, it was all so amazing and our server Halyna who recommended me the Dry Armenian wine was great, she was a great help and influence on our food decision as well as the desert which we ended up eating all the deserts on the menu. We had never tried Armenian food before and thought "why not, it is great Yelp reviews". Once seated, we learned why -- Service is outstanding, they never leave you high and dry in terms of how to eat your food (which does take some explaining if you're a total noob like me). Food is HEAVENLY. We ordered far more than what two people could rationally eat and devoured everything super quickly. Price was reasonable -- well worth it. Ambiance? Interesting! The restaurant itself is a little hidden in this back alleyway type-deal so it has a unique charm that other restaurants in the area may lack being right on the busy street. A nice joint. My girlfriend and I were exploring Glendale and happened upon this place. I was looking for something unique that I hadn't had before, and this place fit the bill. Online google described it as 'casual,' and that may be so to some, but I thought this seemed like a pretty nice place where you wouldn't look out of place if you were dressed in business casual clothing. Our service was swift and our server was very kind. We started our meal with an appetizer of dolma, which I personally would not recommend. I love dolma, and it seemed like these ones were homemade, but they didn't taste particularly fresh or spectacular to me. On top of that you only get four dolma that are about two and a half inches long for $10, which felt a little overpriced. The khinkali, on the other hand, felt like a great deal at less than $3 a pop for a plump, healthily filled dumpling. They have a full menu, but obviously the khinkali are the things to get when you come here. My girlfriend and I are vegetarian, so we got a few boiled mushroom khinkali and a few fried cheese khinkali. I don't eat dumplings very often, so the texture was new to me, but they were totally delicious and I would definitely order them again. read more

We started our meal with a pickled vegetable medley that included pickles, cabbage, green tomato, cauliflower, and carrots. Definitely the best spot to have some authentic Georgian dumplings, it comes with an option of beef cheese or mushroom, to me beef boiled is just a must and cheese and mushroom fried are sooo good. Also khachapuri (the cheese bread) is amazing along with a salad is a perfect combo. Fairly quick and pleasant service, great Georgian wine selection. I believe they also have a live music every weekend, which is very nice. Genuinely good restaurant, with chachapuri - and I'm from Tbilisi, so I know my shit - one of the best and most authentic chachapuris I've ever had:) Super good khinkali and surgeon too. Extremely disappointing food. The xenkali was so so ... but the shish-kebab was terrible. Dry little pieces of meat on a tiny thin skewer. Two pieces of thin lamb kebab for $13 that was completely burned and dried out. The chicken kebab was also very dry and not marinated. This place is less authentic than Luna Grill. I was immediately greeted at the door by attentive staff and assumed a seat at the bar. I noticed the Kashke Bademjan on the menu and gave it a chance. This is an eggplant dip that is relatively easy to mess up. But here it's absolutely delicious. Perfectly prepared. Reminded me of the stuff my grandmother used to make. In anticipation of the kebab, the server brought me pads of butter, raw, sliced onion, and sumac. These people know exactly what they're doing. I can't tell you how many times I've been to Persian restaurants where these essentials were not provided. Whereas normally, I would have to ask for these things, and often restaurants will lack these these essentials, they were brought to me here before I even asked. Very impressed. Then came the koobideh. And I was genuinely impressed. It was tender, juicy delicious, full of flavor. The saffron rice was also well prepared, and I enjoyed every bite, the entire experience. If you're looking for Premier Persian cuisine look no further. This is the place. As we say, "dastet shomah dahd nahkohn", literally translated to "don't hurt your hand", an expression of gratitude towards those who serve you and provide fantastic meals like the one I had here. I'd go again and maybe try the pork chops next. My partner got the combo Lula, and it was decent, but to me it wasn't exceptional compared to other local kabob spots (cause there are a lot of good kabob places in Glendale).
