My order request that was NOT honored. Again!
Tae G.

I haven't eaten here in a while b/c orders were often cooked incorrectly. Once again, my order was screwed up. I SPECIFICALLY requested NO chicken, NO tomatoes in my tom yum soup and got BOTH! I don't know if the staff can't read, pretend they don't see requests, or don't care to cook food as customers request. But, multiple mistakes of the same thing tells me, the staff doesn't care. God forbid someone has food allergies and gets sick b/c a request isn't honored. It would be detrimental to this staff. I won't be back!

Today I tried the Kra Pow for my first time and also ordered a Pad Thai and Satay. Before I individually rate the food, I would like to say that the atmosphere was very small. The restaurant was very tight, but when greeted inside it felt very authentic and comforting to me because I could hear the staff discussions as we are waiting like when you are at home. I also loved how respectful and sweet the staff were. If you are the type of person to enjoy restaurants with little space but feels authentic, then this is for you. Firstly, recieved the Kra Pow and it tasted very soft and the meat was very fresh. Sadly, I wasn't a fan of it. But it is my first time trying so maybe it just wasn't to my liking. I tried so many Pad Thai restaurants and the Pad Thai didn't taste anything outstanding or different. But however, I did enjoy the satay. Of all the Satay I have tried so far, I loved how flavorful and tangy the chicken was. But overall in terms of experiance, I would rate a 4 star! Enjoyed the satay so much I could daydream about it in my sleep. Thank you all staff of Khun 9 for the experiance!

Tom yum - we ordered it medium the first time and it was a tad to spicy, ordered it mild the 2nd time and for me, it was perfection.

We have drove past this spot countless times and never stopped til last week and I'm thrilled we did!! The food is so good! It's a small Thai eatery but there are a couple tables to eat inside. You order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. The employees are friendly and service is good. We've been 2x now in a week, we enjoyed our first experience so much! We have had the beef laab, Tom yum soup and papaya salad. Amazing both times!! We no longer have to drive to Gardena for Thai food, we have found our new go to favorite spot, right here in Torrance!

Thai Sausage and Som Tum / Papaya Salad so good!!

As someone who is Thai & extremely picky with thai food in the states, because i'm always chasing the taste of my mom and aunts home cooked food, this is pretty authentic. Glad i found this place & the woman up front is very friendly. I will definitely be back!!

Great neighborhood restaurant, if you drive too fast, you might miss it. Mom-and-Pop-operated restaurant with authentic flavors at an affordable price. Small restaurant with just a couple of tables, and most of their business clients are takeout. The Papaya Salad has a fresh, and well-balanced flavor. The Ka Na Moo Krob, Crispy Pork with Chinese Broccoli over rice is the ultimate comfort food. Crispy, fatty, and sweet and salty. The serving size generous.

Great neighborhood find! This is a small mom and pop restaurant with authentic Thai food with excellent prices and good portion sizes. Got the pad see ew with pork, fresh (salad) rolls with chicken, Thai tea, and panang curry with tofu. The curry was available as a combo that came with rice, salad and a fried wonton. i really liked how my noodles had an abundance of meat and Chinese broccoli. Their tap water is fruit infused which is a nice touch. Friendly service! There are only a handful of tables so I imagine they do a lot of takeout. Parking in the back, but there seems to only be like one or two spots. I checked with them to make sure we were in the right spot as we didnt want to get towed.

What do you order when you're being lazy at home and don't want to cook but still need to eat something heartwarming? Khun 9 Thai should be on your list of places to hit up to get that fixing right away. My friend and I ordered two dinner specials and were happy with what we got. I ordered their Tofu Penang Curry which came with white rice, side salad, and a fried wonton. I wasn't able to have the wonton but the curry itself was good (although it's hard to mess up coconut milk & curry paste). It definitely had a kick to it and I did ask for spicy, so I was happy it turned out that way. You don't normally find good dinner boxed sets at most restaurants anymore so it's a nice change of pace to see one being offered, especially at a Thai restaurant of all places. Thanks Khun 9 for the fast, simple, and tasty meal.

is this really a pork dish

Boat Noodle Soup

I recently dropped by here for lunch with several coworkers and was surprised there was a Thai restaurant in such a unique area. You can tell that this is a family-operated joint and that they all work as hard as possible to take care of you and make sure you are content. I ordered Thai Tea and Boat Noodle Soup with medium spice. I know, I know, with the current heatwave going on, why would I order spicy soup? Nonetheless, this is what I ordered. The Thai Tea was oddly, really sugary, more so than I have had. The Boat Noodle Soup was okay, despite ordering medium spice, I tasted none. It really lacked flavor compared to other Boat Noodle Soups I have had. One thing that I do have to caution you about is parking can be really bad here. I found some street parking and took it as soon as I could find one.

Some of the best Thai food around. This is really a kitchen vs a restaurant, so the ambience is not fancy.

Again I called on a Thursday 09/15/22 and still no answer what is going on?

They also posted to Instagram they would open on 10/3. I know where I will be having lunch that day.

It's a Wednesday and they're not answering the phone did they close down?

They are not closed permanently. They will reopen in August. The owner let my lunch group know she was going to Thailand and closing for July. We ate there three days in a row after we got that news.

Is this place still open? I drove by here and they were closed. Does anyone know what is happening?

Yes, they're still open but may have changed their hours.

Worse experience ever? I said easy ice for the Thai tea and they charge me extra 50cents, and yes I am ok for it, but only for this time.

Its not uncommon. Some places do that.

When you dine in they bring metal cups with an icy cold carafe of cold water to your table. Customer service is efficient. The person behind the counter is very soft spoken and gives you a slight smile but gets your order correct every time. Hands down so don't argue with me they have the absolute BEST orange chicken. It has a slight crunch on the outside while tender and juicy in the inside. The orange sauce is perfection. It has a great balance of salty and sweet without being overly sweet like an orange candy. It's not tart and you can tell the ingredients are fresh. They put the right amount of sauce so it is not drenched. Pair it with the garlic rice and the salad that crops and fresh no dressing is even needed. Order this and you will be happy. The regular white rice is good too! The Zapp chicken is crunchy, juicy and spicy. I normally cannot eat spicy but this one is perfect. Since my 24 year old son told me about this restaurant I've been here four times in the past month. Simply delicious!!!

The sesame soy sauce was better. Neither was the ginger green onion that I would expect at other Hainan places. Garlic rice had nice flavor. 2. Fried gyoza: Fried well. Liked the filling. Good with or without the sweet dipping sauce. Overall, both items were good and would get again but I prefer the ginger scallion sauce.

I always order it when I go to Thai restaurants or places that have it. So I HAD to try theirs. My husband and I went last Wednesday night to order the mango sticky rice but they had sold out already. (The worker recommended I call them prior to going there to see if they still have some available) The worker was nice and friendly. The next day, I went with my kids because now I HAD to try it. This time, I called prior to see if they still had some on hand. When we arrived to the restaurant, the mango sticky rice was already stacked in containers ready to go - which is new to me. I've never seen that before. I ordered 2, we didn't order anything else. Idk if I had a bad batch or what but my kids & I thought it was ehh. It was .. okay I guess? But it wasn't the best we've had. Probably an unpopular opinion because all the reviews I see state it's the best they've had and i just didn't taste that. We didn't even finish it. The worker the second time I went wasn't the friendliest either. Parking is great since it's part of a big shopping center. There's tables & chairs outside as well where you can eat, which is where my kids & I ate. Tables are shaded so that's good.

When we arrived it was apparent the "chef@ was also the hostess. As a result we waited quite a while to be greeted and seated. I should note that the chef did arrive about thirty minutes later. I ordered the Waan Om Khom Kluean yellow chicken curry and my guest had the deeb Sao Thai Pad Thai with shrimp. I also ordered a Thai ice tea and the server forgot to bring it. I had to remind her after my meal was almost finished. To me the chicken curry had a terrible unappetizing presentation. It looked like shredded chicken and big lumps of potatoes. In fast that's what it was. While the taste was pretty good, the over abundance of potatoes felt like a filler for less chicken. It was a decent dish but far from one of my favorites. The Pad Thai looked a lot better. My guest said it was good, not great, and that he'd order it again. Now to the price. Nearly $70 including the two dishes, one Thai ice tea and rice. This was not fine dining. I realize they have bills to pay but it was much more than I've paid at other Thai restaurants for similar meals. All parking is on the street. One need a bit of courage to park on PCH as passing cars make it scary to open the driver's door. Cars were flying by in the 40's and 50's and it's a very unsafe parking location.
