While driving through Half Moon Bay recently, I stopped into this shopping complex twice. Both times, I noticed this shop. Kibbles 'n Gifts. It's a pet supply store. I noticed it because I noticed all their furry clients and human parents coming in and out of the shop. Their diverse furry clientele looked exceptionally happy as they entered and exited the shop. It's small business owned. They specialize in pet food, supplements, treats, toys, leashes/collars, accessories and bunch more. If you're vacationing in HMB with your fur baby in tow, this would be a great place to drop by with them. I love a good pet supply shop, especially one that is a small business, and Kibbles 'n Gifts is phenomenal! We were in the area escaping the heat and noticed this pet shop. Staff are all very friendly and helpful without being too pushy. I found a few interesting treats and goodies that I haven't seen in other stores. I was a bit thrown off by the pigeons in the store (they're caged) because it's not a common sight to see, but they weren't bothersome to humans. My silly dog would try to get close to them, and the birds did not like that. read more

This is the type of pet store I'm looking for when I'm visiting a local pet supply store that is not a chain. They actually offer different things than the big-name pet supply stores. I wish I lived closer to this shop or that they have another one in my neighborhood. I would say that the store itself is not big, but the way they organized the layout and the shelves was very efficient. They were able to offer a variety of options in food, treats, toys, etc - they even have things for humans too LOL. The lady working in the store was very sweet and helpful. She immediately noticed new customers entering the store and asked us if we needed help despite her already being busy doing something else at the moment. She was also very knowledgeable! It's not common when you go in a pet supply shop where the staff can actually offer you specific suggestions regarding what food/treats are good for cat UTI. No one ever told me that freeze-dried treats/food are dehydrating for cats and that we should probably stay away from that if the cat is prone to UTI or doesn't like drinking water. When I google "freeze-dried cat food", all it gives are the benefits of freeze-dried food. I left the store with my hands full of cat treats and toys, which we already have a whole bunch of at home. By a "whole bunch", I mean a mini fridge + cabinet drawer + a closet full of cat food, treats, and toys. If it weren't for the fact that only one of my cats can eat regular cat food right now (the other one has to eat prescribed food), I would've bought at least a bag of cat food (kibbles) + more snacks. Oh, there were pigeons inside a giant cage. That was my first time seeing so many pigeons indoor so I was surprised. read more

Been here three times, and each of those times I've been asked if I'm enrolled in the store's loyalty program. I tell them I'm not and that's the end of it -- they don't offer any additional information on how to actually sign up. Went in yesterday for a bag of Zuke's dog treats and asked the employee if they had a larger sized bag. She asserted rudely that the 6 oz bag they carry is the only size bag Zuke's makes because "everyone knows training treats only come in small bags" ... except that this is categorically false and Zuke's DOES make a 1 lb bag. Not a big deal that they only carry one size, I get they're a small store, but no need to make me feel dumb especially when I know I'm right. I love supporting local businesses when I can but I could spend less elsewhere and save being infantilized so I think I'll do that instead. read more

I have lived in the coast for 4 years now and been working in half moon part-time for over 7 years. -- I made my first purchase at Kibbles N gifts yesterday and had an epic experience! Sue helped me out with excellent service as I wanted to get some new food for my 2 y/o pup. Not only did my dog love the food, I picked up a dried sweet potato for him, and some pumpkin for when you switch food. They even sell it w/o the can! From high-end products, frozen ice cream for dogs, to brands that are of quality and family ran, this pet store in the coast is a total gem! It's Clean, organized, friendly, and up to date with all that's going in in the pet food Retail Biz...It's not overpriced and rude like some people may think, it's really a place the supports the dog loving community that lives on the coast. The so called loyalty program they use here is a joke. The computer system running it all must have been written by a middle school kid as a class project in 2005, because it is routinely a headache every time you check out at this store. Need to quickly pop in for something? Good luck with that while the system lags and you get asked for your name 4 times. it's completely obfuscated, so you have zero real time visibility into how close you are to the free thing, which is critical so that you can just get it and never come back. Second of all, the items that encompass the reward program are sorted by size, so you need to buy 12x the specific size of the thing, as opposed to any size. Finally, and this just happened to me this week, when it's magically your turn for the free thing, you are completely at the mercy of their system. They couldn't even figure out how to get me a free bag of kitty litter because the system wasn't honoring my loyalty credits and apparently only the owner has the authority to do something about it. The manager's proposed solution was to charge me full price and then write a physical note to leave for the owner for next time. What year are we in? Honestly, they should just swap to a punch card system or something, it's that bad. People love their pets and maybe that's why they love this place too, but the central fixture of the store is a dirty ass pigeon cage. Save yourself the hassle, folks. read more

I must say I absolutely adore this little pet boutique! The customer service is outstanding, everyone is so warm! We had the pleasure of being assisted by Riley and he went out of his way to assist us, was so friendly and sweet to our little brat Gypsy, a Teacup Schnauzer . Very convenient and easy parking and a must see if you love your pet! I just couldn't believe the cute bowls, dog socks and harness selection they had in small sizes. It's been very hard for us to find options for her because she's so small and they had plenty. We went for socks and ended up buying a pink flower harness, and an adorable dog scarf with pearls on the edges because Riley kept showing me adorable things, lol. Awesome pet store. Walked in and was prepared to be looking at generic stuff but I was caught off guard. The store is divided into the man's BFF area to the left and the Kitty corner to the right. What got me the most was the 10 year old Beagle named Champ. We almost didn't see him hiding under the kitty condos. He was under one of them while there were two older cats lounging around. Champ would do anything for a treat! I would do anything for Champ to see his skills. That dog has mad skills! He could do 360 degrees turn, lie, sit, stand and stay! He can talk too! Awooooo.....! Champs dad was an awesome guy who truly loves him. I trust a guy with a nice well educated dog like Champ anytime for pet supplies. I just wish I live near the area! I want my own doggie! read more

It features the gourmet pet food brands like Zignature and Stella & Chewy's (what my cousin who works at Bark Avenue feeds her dog). Plenty of eco-friendly BPA-free toys for your four-legged friends. Small area for fish, reptiles, rabbits, and rodents. (I used to have a pet snake so I look beyond the stock for the four-legged furries) Knowledgeable staff. read more

Nice and neat store, very conveniently located for all your critter's wants and or needs. The owner was very helpful and guided me to the items I was looking for. The staff do bring their animals sometimes. So if your hesitant about dogs just be aware there may be a few around. Good selection of items for a variety of animals. Doesn't simply have animal products but cute gifts for your human friends too. Cost is probably higher then big box stores, but the convenience and personal service is worth the extra expense. Christina and the people here at Kibbles 'n Gifts are not just experienced with animals but experienced in the business as well. For a while I had a hard time getting an organic soy free chicken feed that was the gold standard in chicken food. Either places were out of stock, or only had small bags. Another place promised to order it, dragged their feet for three weeks, then said they couldn't order it because it was "out of stock." Even though Kibbles seemed to not be a livestock store, I tried it as a last resort. After I told them what I wanted, they got it in within TWO DAYS. Since then I have regularly returned for my three bags of 50 lb chicken feed every few months. No problems at all. Of course the products here are top rate, too. They do not stock poor quality dog/cat food. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The store is clean. They offer to help you with your 50 lb bags of chicken feed (this way I can feel comfortable letting my mom pick up the food if I cannot that day.) read more

Love this store. I used to go in when I lived in HMB, but had forgotten all about it, Dog toys glorore. Dog treats galore + natural, if you are unaware of the poison in most ALL dog treats look this up, as almost are sold in the US are made China and linked to poisoning/death/illness in dogs. This was an unexpected overnight visit, bought a long-sleeved pima cotton shirt & a baseball cap, with a caption, "Dog is Good" - $21.99. Shirt after a wash is hard to get unwrinkled no matter how dry I get it in dryer, then using downy mist laying it flat to remove wrinkles - $27.99 15 minutes there: Shirt, cap, dog mug & matching bowl, (made in Japan). Lots of natural dog treats, a napping bed & 2 cans dog foods. A few extra treats for the pup. Noticed a few dog sweaters & will bring pup in to try on and puffy coats, next time I'm out there, The buyer for this store has great taste. I like the non-pushy staff. I take my grandmother here once a week when we do her errands for the week. She shops here for all her cat needs. The sales associates are always so nice and helpful. There is the cutest shop dog (an old beagle) in store most of the time. The store allowed us to return items, for store credit, even though we did not have the receipt. This was great, no need keep something you can't use. I gave 4 stars, instead of 5, because the selection is not as big as other pet stores. The cat food we buy, only is carried in small 7lbs bags. I wish they carried a larger bag. I will continue to take my grandmother here to get her pet supplies :) read more

This is my local pet store. I've been coming here since we moved here. I love coming here and picking up treats for my huskies. They carry a lot of natural and healthier treats. Plus a lot that are made in the US and not imported chinese junk. They also carry my hard to find dog food (Eagle Pack) and cat food (Wysong). The employees there are always friendly and they always offer to help carry the food out to my car for me. They carry a lot of dog food and treat selections but also toys, cat stuff and fish stuff. Also a good selection of gifts for pet lovers. Plus they have several kitties who hang out there and are very friendly and always open to petting. Although this is also the reason I can't bring in my huskies to pick out their own treats :) read more

I bet your thinking yeah the cheaper brands, but no the $$$ brands are just as guilty and it's deplorable. I could talk about it all day but instead encourage you to read "food your pets die for" by Ann Martin. I walked in for a dog bed and was pleasantly surprised. They had some of the best brands of kibble you can buy and they offered a decent selection of raw food. They had primal brand if I am not mistaken. I recommend raw connection in Carmel for an even bigger selection if you can't find it here. I am always happy and impressed with a local pet store carrying responsible diet options and knowledgable on pet nutrition. I recommend giving this place a try :-)! read more

I'm fairly cautious of what I feed my dog and tend to research any dog food that has been recalled but this place sells brands that are, for the most part, holistic. I typically go to pet food express because they carry the brand I like but this place offers much more. This place is located close to pillar point which is perfect for dogs and decided to come to this place on a whim cause it was on the way and wanted to get my dog a treat for his birthday. They have adorable apparel, leashes and collars with a wide selection of toys, food and treats. Definitely worth popping in. read more

We purchased a much needed cat tower scratcher to place in our RV. We were camping and couldn't wait to buy one. Figured the prices would be extreme due to being a Bay Area community store, selection was a bit scarce, but we found a pretty decent sized one that would do just fine. Tried a little friendly barter on the price, didn't work but that's okay, got a little weird vibe from owner after that. Cashier was very pleasant as we went ahead and bought it. Good news! The cats loved it even as they watched us unloading it from the car to the RV! This is a cute store located in the Safeway shopping center of Half Moon Bay. read more

This is a tough place to rate. I think the selection is good and the staff are really helpful. The owner is often there which is helpful. Recently the selection has been culled down a lot so I hope they are not going out of business. For their sake. And now for the "but..." The employees will sometimes bring their dogs and most of them are totally cool. I especially liked the polite and handsome blue pit that used to be there. But, that growling, prowling Greater Swiss Mountain Dog that has been there recently is going to sell your store for you if you keep letting him threaten people. I don't know why this has become a 'thing' to bring your suspicious, territorial and not-so-nice dogs to work and let them be the point of contact for customers. It is such a liability and not very good for the dog either. Despite the nice goods they sell I'll take my business elsewhere where I'm not wondering if the growl will lead to a bite. read more

This is a great store! For a smallish space, they have a great inventory. They have a huge variety of dog and cat food and products, as well as some supplies for fish, rodents, and birds. They also have quite a nice gift selection including frames, books, door mats, calendars, etc- all pet-themed. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. This is your high end pet place on the coast. Kibbles 'n Gifts caters mostly to cat and dog clientel. This is no Petsmart. It's boutiquey. And, they do have gifts for humans too. You can buy animal-themed purses and knick-knacks there. What I absolutely love though about this place is that they will order anything for you - anything. You need bird, turtle, or other non-mainstream pet supplies, they will get it. It might cost more than if you drive over the hill and got it at Petco, but they will get it. read more
