I been to this store many times. I felt like this place had been most helpful compared to Pet Club. I was trying to get a crate for my dog and Pet Club wasn't helpful at all. At least this store, someone helped me in the past. I bought a cat tree here as well. The price was clearance since I adopted a cat for the first time a few days ago. Javier the manager was very helpful today for me. It made my day even better. I didnt catch the cashier lady name. She was nice as well. She helped me look at the cat tree that if it can hold a 13 lb cat, it can hold upto 40 lbs. Overall, a good experience here. read more

Attention Executives: went into your san mateo store to exchange some Top Paw female diapers for an extra large size. My dog went into heat today. I had a size large. It was too small for her and went in to exchange for XL with receipt. Manager said she cannot take the exchange because the package was open she said on the back of the receipt it says, it has to be unopened. We turned the receipt over. You can't even read it. It is so faint not legible. No apologies at all, Petsmart your a big business with local customers, please consider changing your policy and make sure your customers can READ the back of your receipts. Service was excellent. Greeted and directed as we walked in. We got our exercise walking to the back of the very large store for cat food, which was in supply. Check out was quick and easy and the clerk gladly rung up our purchase using the rewards that we garner from our regular weekly purchases at the Fresno store. This purchase was for our grand cats in San Mateo. The parking lot is adjacent to a creek and the ducks were resting in the shade. Nice treat. read more

I use the grooming salon for my puppers bath. I am appreciative of the staff that pamper my dog, especially because he has high anxiety in any place that I would leave him. He is a rescue and thinks he is being abandoned if I leave him with people he doesn't know. I've been to this Pet Smart and handful of times and it has a funky parking lot with maybe 6 spots in the front, but more parking once you first pull into the driveway and go towards the right and then straight back. Everything was well marked and organized by pet type and my dogs really like walking into stores and smelling everything. Haha This particular evening, we were coming back from walking around at Hillview Mall, or something like that, up the street. We got some new frozen food to try with their raw food diet. We make their food from scratch, but we like to add some kibble bits here and there. One of my Huskies liked the mixture with line-caught salmon and cod, but my Picky puppy only wanted to fish mixture. Hahaha Go figure! I shop here frequently because of proximity, but I'm thinking about finding another store. If u hit it at the wrong time, the line(s) can get long and "speediness" is not PetSmarts forte. Most of the time there is only one register open, even though u see other employees. But my latest peeve is the cleanliness. Upon entering the store, there was an "accident" - happens when dogs enter stores. About 15 minutes later when i went to check out, the accident was still there - instead of cleaning it up, it appears the employees were just letting the urine dry up (this was one time when i got to checkout and there was no line; however, there were 2 employees just chatting away). When one employee came to the register, the other just leaned against the counter and got on her phone. So if you're ever wondering why the store smells upon entering, there's a good chance you're walking on dried up urine! read more

When animals are there for months they are usually heavily discount or just sell them at 100% off. Last night my sister saw a bird there for free which I had seen for months there. She asked about it and was told it was reserved for someone until closing tonight. She asked if she could put it on reserve in case that person doesn't show up. manager said they couldn't but that I could call in before close the next day to see if the bird had been picked up. If not I could come and get it. I call them 10 minutes before closing the next day and I'm told the bird wasn't picked up but that it's already been reserved by someone else. So the manager lied to my sister and she let someone else reserve it. I have many birds, dogs and cats. I can't continue to support this location after this. I want to leave a review for the amazing customer service I received from Marina. My cat was constipated and I walked into the store to find something that could help. Marina went above and beyond answering my questions and made many suggestions on what I can do. She patiently explained her experience, what worked, what didn't, what I should try and how to administrator the dosage. I got better tips from her than an actual vet! I am extremely disappointed with PetSmart's grooming department. This is now the FOURTH time they've canceled my grooming appointment without notifying me. Every time I show up, I'm told the groomer isn't available or the appointment was canceled--yet I never receive a call, text, or email. The worst grooming department ! Alexis is the rudest unexperienced groomer. She has zero customer service and does not treat dogs well. My mother in laws little 5 year old Maltese left this place terrified. He has been going since a little puppy to this Petsmart grooming and has never had any issues until today. Alexis claimed he was not cooperating and couldn't do the haircut/bath and called me to pick him up. I found it strange as he's been getting groomed for five years here. Upon picking him up he was covered in his own feces (uncleaned, messy and terrified). She made it clear that it's all about money to them. "Petsmart has to make money" were her direct words. Spoke to Hapi the so called grooming manager and she was zero help as well. Defended her employee, justified her poor customer service and spoke bad about other groomer's. Completely unprofessional as a so called "manager". To all the fellow dog owners please be mindful of your pets. We love our dogs as our own children and am not okay with our pets being treated so poorly. I took my 4mo Cavapoo to get her 1st grooming - clear up around the eyes and trim her paws - nothing major. I don't even think these groomers know what a Cavapoo is supposed to look like. They cut all her face hair and teased out all her fur. I am going to have to bathe her again myself and allow for her fur to grow back on her face so she actually looks like she is supposed to. This is a review for the training. We took our Airedale puppy (7 months old) to the training session-we tried to enroll in puppy class, but we're informed that the dog was too old. You should know that pet smart does not allow the use of chain collars or other training collars: they only allow flat collars, which makes it very hard to control a dog who is obviously there to be trained in the first place. After just one session, I was unimpressed. The trainer did not know how to control the dogs-her solution for a rowdy pup (who was getting rowdy because because a classmate dog was "egging him on") was to have us "walk around the store a few times." Out of a one hour class, I would say we only spent 20 minutes doing actual training. If the dog did not do what she wanted it to do, she just gave it a toy and moved on to the next client. I found this highly unprofessional. The last straw was when the trainer did not know what a basic dog term meant. She did not know what the word "heel" meant, and had no clue that in dog sports, the dog has to walk on the left side of the handler. You should also know that it is almost impossible to make up classes that you miss. With most other dog training programs, you can come back the following week or another time: Petsmart wanted us to reschedule completely. We did not even bother to finish the class. Go to San Bruno Dog Obedience school or San Mateo dog Training club for a better and more knowledgeable experience. read more

I can't lie...after reading the reviews, I was nervous to take my girl here. But for the price of $41 for a puppy cut before 5 months old, I took a chance. I figured they would do a better job than I could have. I met the ladies there...they were so sweet, kind and gentle. I felt comfortable enough to leave her in their care. We discussed our wants and her behaviors being a 20 week old. We let them know if she is in any discomfort to call me and I'd come get her. Time kept ticking and not one call. I figured it had to be going well. Sure enough, Hapi did an amazing job as you can tell in the AFTER photo! I will definitely be going back to her. Thank you Hapi!!! read more

Grooming too stressful here! My 14.5 beloved yorkie had a grooming on October 12th, 2023, I paid for express $15 extra, they told me it will take 1 hour, actually took 2 hours and after he came out from there he was very lethargic and didn't want to eat for 3 days, took him to vet and they said it could have been stress. To make story short my dog died 6 days after his grooming. I know he was old but he was not sick when I took him there and he suddenly changed right when I picked him from this place. read more

We normally take our pet to PETCO where we have always received phenomenal attention, however I could not find an appointment and in my search engine I found this site, I scheduled an appointment and everything was going well until in the end we received our beloved pet still wet, smelling very bad to the point that I had to take her a day later to PETCO where they could give her the proper care for which I had already paid. Went in to make appointment the girl would not even look at me. I have four huskies and spend about 600 dollars each time I go in to get them groomed. Then I spend a couple hundred for chew sticks and food while there. I feel she hated men as she would only talk to the ladies that walked in. I am really disappointed of the service here , I took my white little shitzu for a bath and what a horrible service. I paid for her bath with an upgraded shampoo , teeth, bow and nails , when I picked her up she didn't have a bow and the person who came in front to give me my dog was mean and said oh pick the bow and put it yourself ... so she wasn't now even looking good , her pows were black like they just did a regular wash here and there, she usually looks so white and you can tell they just wash her here and there and out some coconut perfume that stayed for that night and that's it . This is what happens when you try to go "cheap" ( not at all , 60 dollars ) compare to other places they were offering 75..
