They're very friendly here. We needed a cat toy and they do have a buy 3, get 4th free for any toys mix and match. This cat wand was $8.99 and it's one of the favorites! The feathers are made of plastic and the stem is made of wood so it can break easily. You can get something similar on Amazon for cheaper but if you need a toy ASAP, they have a decent selection and the average price for a good one is about $10. Do note that there are no live animals here and it's a fairly small store but has all of your basics. There's lots of dog showers in the back. What great service, love for pets, compassion for pet owners. The workers here are absolutely wonderful, and you can see that they care about the service they provide. GIVE THEM ALL A RAISE! lol. I came here a couple days before I was potentially adopting a puppy. One of things I needed to bring was a temporary dog tag with contact phone. I had asked an associate if I can just get a tag with the phone number, because I may want to change my potential puppy's name which seemed like it fine. I came back a week later after deciding to keep the puppy's name. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to add the name to the tag since it's 1 sided. So they made me a new one free of charge. I was totally willing to pay for the new tag, but they insisted. We chatted for a bit and my new pup "Yam" got a couple treats and a couple more for the road. So nice of them! Their prices match Chewy. SPACE: They're located in downtown Burlingame. They are right next to two parking lots, and there is street parking. It can be hard to park in Downtown Burlingame in general, but lately, I haven't had a problem. You can bring your pet into the store to shop with you and they even have a self-wash dog area in the back. This has huge built in tubs that you can hook your dog's collar on to easily get the job done. SERVICE: There is a girl named Olivia who works here who is so sweet and extremely knowledgeable on their products. She provides great information and makes recommendations without being sales-y/pushy, which I really appreciate. Everyone else is great too. I was looking for a specific puppy kibble and didn't see it with the brand's other things. They looked it up to see if I could get it delivered. In general, I love Pet Food Express as they offer raw food, lots of treats, dog wash, and best of all, friendly, knowledgable staff who are willing to see if you need help and give advice...Never been to PFExpress i didn't like....well, the San Carlos one, had some issues but that is now closed....very telling. I came to this location as my pups have a poster in the store representing the rescue: Adopt a Doggie, Castro Valley....ah yes, my 'celebrity' doggies located above the stroller section! haha YAY! I love coming here! The staff is always so nice and welcoming. Halle has always been a pleasure and she's so knowledgeable about their products from treats to toys for a new puppy. I recently switched my Frenchie to a raw diet and she told me what I needed to know first and then we started with freeze dried patties. I bring my dog here during the cold months to give him a bath. He isn't too fond of getting baths, but he loves it here. The water is warm, and you get the option of choosing which soap you'd like to use. The people who work at the store are really nice too. I think one requirement for any pet store would be "a love for animals." I genuinely get the sense that all these people love animals. My biggest qualm with most pet stores is the smell of urine or feces. I know the pets can't help it. But the employees at this store keep the place really neat and clean. Pet Food Express is one of my favorite pet stores because of their excellent customer service. The employees are always friendly and helpful, and you can tell they are huge animal lovers. Pet Food Express has a wide variety of toys, treats, food, beds, and any other things you might need for your pets. I have 3 dogs, and one of them is old and can't chew well, so I like to get the Wellness Soft Puppy Bites and Fruitables Skinny Minis chewy treats for her. Prices can be a little high, so I usually get a few small bags of many different types of treats and foods, and then once I find one my dogs like, I order in bulk online. The great thing about Pet Food Express is that if your dogs don't like the kibble or treats you purchase, they allow you to return them (even if you already opened the package). You obviously don't want to take advantage of this system but it really is a lifesaver if you just bought a 20lb bag of Kibble and your dog refuses to eat any of it! They have a DIY grooming salon in the back of the store, so if your dogs are scared of being groomed by strangers, this might be a good option for you. read more

Did I ever mention how much I spoil my two puppies? I love visiting pet stores and when I'm home in Millbrae, this is the best pet store around (I can't wait for the Millbrae Branch to open). They carry the TOP LINE foods for you and your four legged best friends. Like seriously. Raw food such as Primal, Freeze-Dried Food such as Grandma Lucy and The Honest Kitchen, and good kibbles such as Nature's Variety. They have this really good policy of dog foods that has been recalled won't get put on their shelves unless they get some kind of papers from the company saying that the food is okay again. (GOOD because I do not keep up with what dog foods are recalled!). Prices are very reasonable. It's hard to say because they do sell some of the food at Petco for cheaper at times.. They also have lots of variety of treats and toys. So your puppies do not end up destroying the house! Wish I had bought more toys earlier because I have random carpet areas where my puppies tries to tear up and chew.. Prices for toys are cheaper here I think. One last thing. I love the SELF-SERVICE DOG WASH. It has saved me from chasing down my GSD for a bath in my house! This is my go to pet store when I am back home visiting the parents. On a steamy hot day in the bay, we were on the hunt for some poochy ice cream treats. We checked every level of the frozen food section at Safeway, Mollie's and found nothin. I mean, don't get me wrong. My pooch would love nothing more than a 3 pack of It's It ice cream sandwiches. He'd probably be a huge fan of the oatmeal cookie and the ice cream and all that, but that's not something we wanted to give him. We walked in here and the store is super clean and very large. Semi friendly customer service made it a breeze to find some treats for the pup. They have a wide variety of food options for man's best bud. Just walking around made me realize that we treat our pooches pretty darn good. Gluten free cookies, pork products and everything in between. Good when you just need to pop in for treats or supplies. Came in today to do just that and the dirty blonde at the counter approached our dogs. Now our dogs are well behaved and socialized so it was fine, but it was kinda weird that a pet store employee wouldn't know the etiquette to ask if she could handle our dogs. Further than that, she gave me unsolicited advice for one of dogs to "grab him by the hips to calm him down, it's showing dominance like humping" and then proceeded to do just that and my dog SQUEALED. She claimed he wasn't hurt, but it dId the opposite of what she said it would do and he was freaking out even more. Halle, Rick, Cooper, Thomas, Trevor, Gigi and Daniel. and the entire staff are very helpful and courteous! There is a wide selection of cat and and dog supplies and the "Buy 3 get the 4th free" for food, litter and toys saves me a lot of money! Cats a notoriously finicky and being able to return unopened food is a plus. The store is staffed well so there is always someone to assist. They do the small things right, example if there's a line for check out they'll call someone up to help out. I highly recommend Pet Food Express in Burlingame! read more
