Okay, so this tiny cafe is located in the Atrium office buildings and would be hard to miss but they have a really beautiful window design that just pulls you right into their tiny yet mighty delicious cafe. Our 1st experience was really satisfying & a great impression was made w/ a vegetarian Bahn mi sandwich. We just ordered online for a 2nd go at the menu and again the experience was great. We had another sandwich along w/ their spring rolls which by the way were exceptional. I had a Thai iced tea to wash it with & the meal was extremely satisfying. I was originally going to go to Mr. Pickles next door, but came across this gem instead. I always prefer supporting small/local and I'm glad I took a shot and walked in! I had the Spice Pork and Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Sandwich itself is small in size, but it did get me full! Bread is a little too much on the crispy side for my personal liking, so next time I will ask for it less toasted. It was flavorful and delicious! This is an updated review and a level up. I was able to place an order online with the modifications on my bahn mi sandwiches so everything was ready when I got there. They also send a confirmation text of when my order was ready which was great! I ordered a grilled pork and a grilled chicken bahn mi (no jalapeños), 3 piece fresh spring rolls, and a pork bahn mi with spring roll lunch special. The bahn mi in the special was 4" compared to 6" but the 3 piece spring rolls are the same as the 3 piece I ordered separately. The special is a great deal as the sandwiches are $8 each and 3 piece spring rolls were $7.50 I think. The specialist with a smaller sandwich but same spring rolls $12.50! Anyways, everything was packaged nicely, easy pick up. The spring rolls were fresh with a great chew, great sauce. Definitely smaller than most places but fresh. The produce crunched! I also noticed the carrots in the spring rolls are pickled! This is a first! It gave it a nice flavor instead of bland. The sandwiches were loaded with a good amount of seasoned meat and the bread was crunchy and soft, so good! Located in a small parking lot for a company building, this banh mi spot was a little hard to find because it was so hidden. Inside, there weren't any tables or chairs; similar to most sandwich spots, you order inside the small shop and wait outside. Their menu didn't have a lot of options, but they had the classic banh mi options like cold cuts/combo, grilled chicken, etc. I ordered their cold cuts and was slightly disappointed because I didn't taste any pate, which I was used to having in banh mis with ham. I just visited this unassuming restaurant today. A virtual hole in the wall with a counter to order food and zero inside dining. The woman who took our order was cordial and smiled. I ordered the grilled pork banh mi and my wife ordered three spring rolls. Woman said about five minutes wait. We then went outside to a seating area which occupied two parking spaces of an office building surrounded by shrubs on the street side and a wooden planter box on the end of the parking space. The food was picked up inside and we ate at the tables set up within the parking spaces. Banh mi was ok as I expected more of a grilled on the grill type of meat, thinly sliced. Instead, it kind of reminded me of pulled pork before pulling apart and just sliced. On the plus side, pate was included while others charge for it. Taste was good with a warm flavorful moistness and good balance between pickled veggies and meat and pate. Wife enjoyed her spring rolls but expected a peanut sauce instead of fish sauce. Overall a good experience with a ding for not power washing the grease and dirt apparently on parking spaces where customers would consume their food. Looks dingy and not inviting. I just returned from two weeks in Vietnam and tried 4 different recommended places for banh mi. Nothing could compare to kibis pork banh mi. My partner and I got a 6" combo, 4" grilled pork, and some shrimp spring rolls. It's an odd place to start, but the most memorable thing about the meal how soft and delicious the bread was - and that's not a knock to the proteins at all. I'm just used to bahn mi bread being really crunchy/hard and while this bread was crunchy, it didn't piece the roof of my mouth when I ate it and it was just...good! We both really enjoyed the combo sandwich the most which had a delicious balance of pickled veggies, jalapenos, and meats, and my partner said they put enough pate in the sandwich to where you could actually taste it! The grilled pork was fine, but overshadowed by the combo and the spring rolls were clearly premade and refrigerated so I'd recommend skipping in both. If you've been trying to find a go-to banh mi spot in the Walnut Creek/Pleasant Hill/Concord area and you haven't tried Kibi's Cafe yet, I suggest you give it a try! Kibi's Cafe is like a little hole in the wall type of place and it's a tiny little shop that you may miss the first time you go there. I've tried banh mi's at multiple Vietnamese restaurants in the area but they were all just not it. But Kibi's Cafe banh mi's are spectacular and have been the best in this area so far. I first tried this place in May 2021 and have been there about 5-6 times now. I've tried the Grilled Pork Banh Mi, Shrimp Fresh Spring Rolls, Vietnamese Coffee and the Ruby 3 Colors dessert. I usually get the 4" banh mi + 3 spring rolls combo & a drink or dessert and it's very filling for me. Everything I've tried was really good. I believe they make their own banh mi bread so it's always served hot and fresh. The banh mi's are packed with flavor and everything goes together very well (in terms of flavor and seasoning/saltiness). The ingredients in the spring rolls are very fresh and the peanut sauce is bomb. The Ruby 3 Colors dessert could be a bit sweeter in my opinion or maybe adding less ice would be better because it does get pretty watered down by the time you get home if you order it to-go. Btw you can place the order in advance online through their website or you can even text them through their business number if they don't pick up your call. Amazing Vietnamese food! I had the grilled pork bánh mì and the ruby 3 colours dessert in their adorable outdoor seating area. Their portions are quite generous considering the reasonable prices (although I did read reviews that this place is affordable for Walnut Creek in particular) but the food was still so high-quality. I couldn't stop raving about the grilled pork to my friend and the bread itself remained crunchy when I had the rest of the bánh mì hours later. It's rare for me to like a place in the first place since I'm so picky when it comes to food but I'm more than willing to drive 25+ minutes for Kibi's Cafe. WHY am I discovering this place just now? Don't crucify me but I've always found banh mis to be mediocre because something would always be dry -- the meat or the bread. But not at Kibi's. I don't know what substance they put in their peanut sauce but it is absolutely sensual with the grilled pork and char siu. The bread is crispy without being overly hard.
