Honestly, this place was getting 5 stars before I posted the reviews, rest assured that the food actually good so I do think the five stars is warranted. The guy that took our order was great though. Best personality and set the tone for the meal with the best energy as soon as we walked through the door. He recommended the mango lemonade to start (YUM- so glad I listened) and it was super refreshing. I ordered the ube michi pancakes and he recommended the pork fried rice with eggs for my husband as it was one of the more popular dishes. The pork fried rice was really good. The portion was just big enough and I'm not surprised at all that it's a top dish. I think the ube mochi pancakes were the star though. The text was good and the ube flavor really comes out, so much that I didn't want to use any coconut syrup for fear of drowning it out. I ate one without syrup and one with and the coconut syrup really compliments the pancake. Both flavor come out nicely.
Had a great breakfast! Just wanted to highlight that this is not a sit down with service restaurant, you order at the counter and then find a table. Everyone has pancakes except me, but I did try them and they were a delicious batter! I went with the corn beef hash, eggs over easy and their homemade biscuit. Biscuit was light and fluffy, eggs perfectly over easy, and the hash was the BEST I've ever had!!!! Highly, highly recommend the hash of you're a hash person.
This was my first time visiting this location of Kihei Caffe. I've had breakfast many times at their other locations. We were in the area, so we stopped in for lunch. I ordered a House Salad with Grilled Chicken Breast and Papaya Seed Dressing. The salad was fresh and delicious. I loved the salad dressing too! I loved the décor in the restaurant. I want to try other items on the menu next time!
Solid 4 stars for a brunch spot! Slightly different method of ordering here -- you walk in, place your order at the counter, they assign you a table based on the # of people you have in your party, and they bring the food to your table. Staff service is pretty light in that they're not bothering you too much, but they're around when you need them. Our fave dish by far was the French toast with macadamia nuts and bananas! Super soft bread, thick slices, and you don't need any syrup at all. We also tried the Loco Moco but it was just ok. I've had better at other places. My boys liked this place that we tried the Kīhei location as well but ordered take out. I'd come back again for sure!
Really solid breakfast spot. We loved everything except the pork fried rice which was pretty mid. I especially liked the loco moco. I love the extra gravy and the patty being more than enough to have extra for the egg to rice ratio. Overall 4.3/5 definitely would come back!
Long lines , very good reviews, time to check it out. It was early Thursday morning and the line stopped just after door, but line moved quickly. Just like the Yelp reviews. Two cashiers taking orders. There is also dedicated to-go order kiosk. Nice! Took few minutes to take our orde and we got a basket with utensils and napkins. Our drinks came out almost simultaneously. We found the table nearby and our food started to come out. Some foods comes out faster. Value: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Cleaness: another 5 My Ube drink was delicious, so was the pancakes. Fried rice was ok. Cinnamon rolls are in the hotel room still, yogurt parfait was pre-made and granola was chewy instead of crunchy. Over all, 5 stars and repeat business is necessary.
Loco moco would be a 7/10 it's yummy but wouldn't come back just to get it again, safe choice very yummy Mom got the egg breakfast, basic but does the job.
This is a must-try when you're in Maui! Expect a crowd, but don't let the line discourage you--they have the process down. You order at the counter, find a table, and they'll bring your food out when it's ready. We always have a great meal here! Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. The Loco Moco was rich and comforting, with a perfectly seasoned beef patty, fluffy rice, and delicious brown gravy. The chilaquiles were packed with flavor and topped with perfectly cooked eggs and fresh green onions for a nice crunch. I do have to mention that they're a little on the spicy side, but absolutely worth it! The cinnamon roll was the perfect way to end the meal--soft, warm, and topped with just the right amount of sweet icing. The service was efficient and friendly, and the atmosphere was casual and welcoming. If you're looking for an amazing breakfast or brunch in Maui, this place is definitely worth a visit. We'll be back every time we're in town!
Service was good - our order was taken very quickly and accurately at the counter. It was busy inside - 8am on Sunday had plenty of both visitors and locals. It's a good, family friendly restaurant. Food was good as well. We ordered the French toast and the loco moco. While eating the loco moco, I bit on something quite hard - I found that there was a small, black pebble in my food. How did that get in there? Thankfully my teeth were okay. Because of that, I give this place 3 stars. I'd come back, though I will be chewing very, very carefully.
Came @ 8 am for breakfast on a Thursday and surprised it was not as crowded as I remembered. That was also a few years ago. Casual dining, order/pay first and find your own seating. Ordered the loco moco. Good flavoring, but the beef patty was a bit tough & dry. Had it not been for the gravy saving it.... The So Ono macadamia nut coconut cream ice coffee is a nice sweet drink, if that's what you like. But if you like a coffee drink that actually tastes like coffee and want something stronger, skip this drink and just order plain coffee. Also ordered the meat lover breakfast. It's decent. Something you would find at any other breakfast joint. Service was quick and staff are friendly.
Food quick and delicious! Wait time was very minimal and highly recommended for a breakfast! Was an excellent choice as the pictures show the food! A little noisy because place is packed but enjoyable with background music from 60s and 70s.. mahalo
So this confused me just a bit. Kihei Caffe in Lahaina... I could have been eating here everyday but never tried. Now that I have I'm soo mad I'm no longer in Lahaina. I got the chicken fried steak. My how this was comfort food at its finest. The sausage gravy was perfect, the biscuit was perfect and the main event was perfect. If you decide to go here. Get that.
Located in the plaza, this spot was busy for Sunday brunch, and there was a small line when we arrived. Thankfully, it moved quickly, and our food was served shortly after we ordered. Everything we tried was delicious, but our favorites were definitely the French toast and the pork fried rice. We also ordered the loco moco with kalua pork. It was good, but the kalua pork wasn't really our preference. Overall, we had a great experience with delicious food, efficient service, and would definitely come back.

We have been going to the Kihei location for years. So happy they opened a location closer to where we stay. We have ordered take out here before. First time dining in. This place gets a bit busy in the later morning time. We got here at 8am, ordered and sat outside. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. All the food is so good here. Friend and I always share the pancakes and fried rice and still have leftovers. Kihei cafe is on the corner in a shopping center so there is plenty of parking. Be pono and tip generously. Customers do have to order before being seated. So it is a fast paced environment. It's a nice size seating area and they do have outside as an option. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs & a root beer as a drink. Total came up to about $28. $21 for fried chicken $4 for drinks and includes taxes. For $21 I expected a bigger thicker chicken steak. Quality was good it was just quantity I would say? read more

We came here for breakfast. We had pancakes with macadamia nuts and banana slices, and the chorizo with scrambled eggs with corn tortillas, very delicious. Good music, good service, food arrived very quickly. It's more of you order at the counter and they bring it out to your table. Iced water is self serve. Great place for breakfast and / or brunch. read more

Great breakfast options! Ordering and getting a table was easy, and the food came out quick. The service was a little weird, I feel like they should give us table numbers instead of shouting our name for everyone to hear. We ordered the breakfast burrito, Maui omelette, huevos rancheros, and chorizo scramble. For drinks we got orange juice, lilikoi lemonade, and coffee of the day which was an iced coffee with ube, coconut, and macadamia. I would go back just for the Maui omelette. It was delicious. It had spinach, mushrooms, ham, and goat cheese...everything you would want in an omelette. The breakfast burrito was simple and tasty (which is what I wanted). The coffee of the day tasted a little burnt but the ube flavor made up for it. read more

My family really enjoyed this place! Lots of yummy options for everyone, including delicious drinks!! Very generous portions and great prices! I got the kalua pork loco moco, I couldn't finish it it was so big! I will say tho I wouldn't get it again as it was very salty and way too much sauce everywhere, I ended up getting tired of the taste. But I know there's so many other good options still! I did love my Hawaiian Punch cocktail, so good! Mango mimosa was good too. Note that this is quite a popular place, line was long but luckily we had no issue getting a table. This is a pay and order then get seated with a number type restaurant. Ambiance was fun and upbeat and service was fast and kind employees! read more

We have been to Kihei cafe 2x during our stay in Maui. They open 7am for the early birds. Lots of ample parking. You put in your order at the front with the cashier and they will bring out the food. There are indoor and outdoor seating. You can also order to go if you are in a hurry. Plates are pretty big. We shared between 2 adults and a 7 year old child. Food was very tasty. We got the loco moco with corned beef, French toast with chocolate chips, and catfish. If you like ube you have to try the ube coffee it was ONO. I highly recommend Kihei cafe read more

For how highly rated this restaurant was, it left me wanting and desiring for more. The menu is displayed on televisions situated above the line of vision. This would be very difficult for elderly. If possible, see the menu beforehand. Once you order, you're sent to another station where refreshments are given to you. I had a vanilla latte and it was mediocre at best. The kids' POG was not flavorful. Coffee was lacking. Once seated, our food arrived promptly. The Mac/banana pancakes were good. The remainder of the food was okay. The loco moco wasn't very good either. This restaurant was very touristy and I'm shocked it is so highly rated. Skip it and see if you can find a more local and tastier breakfast place. read more

I ordered food for take out. The service was friendly and they got my take out order promptly. There were indoor and out door seating. I preferred the Kula Pork Loco Moco. Beef loco Moco. French toast. The loco mocos were great! Both protein were great, sauce were great. I'd recommend that place! French toast was good, not too sweet! read more

So close to the elusive 5 star review. Nice place, huge menu, lots of great choices, quick service, most everything was great. So what's the problem? The menu said "hash browns"...see the picture? Those are home fries/American fries/roasted potatoes. Not hash browns. These were carelessly prepped and cooked--some in huge pieces that weren't quite done, other pieces overcooked so badly it was hard to cut through them at all. Yecch. Not a deal breaker, but c'mon Kihei Caffe--do better! (edit...they used to have hash browns, but said that having two types of potatoes got confusing. please fix the menu boards.) read more

We grabbed some breakfast to go from here and it did not disappoint! Between my husband and I we had the French toast, crab cake benedict and the loco moco. All were delicious! The picture of the french toast speaks for itself honestly. On top of that the staff was friendly and we got our food in a reasonable amount of time. read more

Kihei Cafe Lahaina has great food, I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast w/ bacon and eggs. My son and daughter shared the chocolate chip pancakes and my wife got the fried rice. I tried all three dishes I loved the fried rice the most because of the Portuguese sausage. The service was great as well, we originally were brought the wrong order but that immediately corrected the error and we were satisfied with what we ordered. If you are ever in Maui check out Kihei. Get there early as the line form's pretty quickly. read more

If you're looking for a good breakfast place, this is the one! I was so excited to try the ube latte, and it did not disappoint!! The food was great, i recommend the banana mac nut pancakes!! Great personable service from a busy restaurant. The line may seem constant but don't let it dissuade you. It moves quite quickly and the food comes out quickly after being seated. Wasn't really hungry so we just grabbed a few tasty items. Maui Omelette recommended for anyone with a mighty hunger. It's quite large and stuffed to the gills. Great Home Fries!! Fried rice reminds me of old school local style with the eggs your way. I couldn't eat it all but I did take that bad boy home for later. Chicken and Waffles. Chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside complimented with a light and crispy waffle. The portions are great and they provide take out boxes upon request. read more

The Lahaina location is pretty central to the West side of the Island. If you are staying in Kaanapali, this is a 5 minute drive down to town. Easy parking and accessible seating for all. They have a patio area if the inside gets crowded (it will be crowded). Food: Eggs benedict was ok. It just needed more sauce, but overall tasty. The cinnamon roll was something I had at the Kihei location and I was looking forward to ordering it here. It was stale, didn't taste as fresh as I remembered. The banana mac nut pancakes were the highlight. Be sure to grab one of the Coconut Syrup, or ask the server for one. I ended up having to go up and getting one from the front/self-serve coffee area. Overall, the place gets really busy and the staff seemed to be hit with the rush of customers. The food was ok, definitely a place to stop by if you are looking for a quick breakfast or brunch. read more

The Lahaina location of my favorite breakfast restaurant on Maui. Wherever I stay on Maui, I will drive and stand in line @ the Kihei location. The Lahaina was recently open and it opens early (6 am?) for those ET and PT folks adjusting to HT. There was no wait at 8 am HT on a Wed morning. The cornbeef has was as delicious as I remembered. The hashbrowns were undercooked (potato was al dente) and not crunchy, making me think they were reheated hashbrowns. The biscuit was smaller than I remembered, but still fluffy and tasty. There was butter but no jam. Hubby had the omelet and he said it was good. I would come back to this location because it's convenient and I think they are working out startup opportunities. read more

Good friends of ours recommended Kihei Caffe, but the original location. When my husband and I saw this place close by our honeymoon we thought it was a worth a shot to go to the Lahaina location and it was excellent. Still not use to the HST, as we are from Georgia (so it was already 12pm our EST time!), so we LOVED that this place opened bright and early, which means we also beat the lines! The man behind the counter (sorry, I didn't get his name) was so sincerely helpful in his recommendations. COFFEE: I got a cold brew with MacNut flavor and was very pleased, but we were BLOWN AWAY by the "Coffee of the Day" which was an iced latte with Ube, Coconut and MacNut (YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE). We were fighting for the last sips. So, so, good. 5/5 FOOD: The hubby ordered a traditional Loco Moco and I ordered the Banana Macadamia Nut pancakes. It was our first go at Loco Moco, and I was surprised I liked it (to be honest, gravy and a beef patty do NOT sound appealing to me at 7am but I could get on board with this). The triple stack of pancakes were fluffy and dense at the same time (don't ask, just try them) so I just made it about halfway through until I tapped out. Portion sizes are generous at this place, and we truly could have only ordered one entree between the two of us, if wanted. SERVICE: 5/5 stars. HOLY SMOKES. The people here are so incredibly helpful and kind. Dawn seated us and checked in with us regularly and made sure we had everything we needed. She also chatted with me about some recommendations for our honeymoon trip. Plus, almost as soon as we finished boxing up our leftovers, someone was out to bus our table for us. These banana pancakes would make Jack Johnson proud. Came here on a weekend which was kind of a mistake because the line was out the door but it moved really quickly. The system is you order first, then come to another staff who seats you. It's efficient and despite being so busy I got seated immediately after ordering. The banana pancakes were so good and the portion sizes are big. I also got their pre made chia pudding that sits in the case by the register but that's where I had to take away a star because it was old. Some of the fruit had gone mushy and the coconut flakes were oily and old. It's tough because my experience in the restaurant including service and the food made there were so good. It was just the extra chia pudding I bought from the front case that was bad. read more

How long is the wait on a Saturday morning?
Don’t be discouraged if you get there and the line “looks long”. It moves vert quickly and the food is definitely with the short wait.

I saw on the local news here in the bay that this area was safe from the fires. The restaurant was featured on the news and they were asking people to come in and dine. There is usually a long line but 2 weeks after the terrible fire, the restaurant…

It's pretty much busy from open to close! But the line does go by quickly!!
When do they switch over from breakfast to lunch?
they dont. lunch and breakfast are served from 6am to 2pm.
Is this location cash only or do they accept credit cards?
Kihei Caffe in Lahaina accepts credit cards.
Are they actually open until 7? Swung by yesterday and it was not open at 4pm.
