We decided to go to Kiki's because we'd had a great experience at a different location years ago, and every other restaurant nearby was packed--while this one was nearly empty. Given how slow it was, we were surprised by the long wait--about 30 minutes. Although we planned to dine in, our food was served in to-go containers, which was a little unexpected. Still, we stayed and ate there. We ordered the grilled chicken salad and the chicken and waffles. I got the salad without croutons, with vinaigrette and grilled chicken. It was simple, but refreshing and flavorful--perfect for a hot day. The waffles were extremely crunchy, which I liked. Just be prepared: they have that deep-fried flavor, almost like a waffle-flavored funnel cake. You can definitely taste the oil, but if you don't mind that, it's delicious! The chicken was flavorful as well. As for the downsides: the butter was solid and wouldn't melt, and the syrup was cold. Been to this Kiki's Chicken twice now and both times we had excellent service and an amazing experience. The store is big and have lots of tables for customers. Service is quick, food came out within 5-7 minutes. We got chicken sandwich combo and buffalo style fries. Came across Kiki's by chance because my girlfriend was inquiring about places she should eat while at work. I looked up a few suggestions and Kiki's popped up, and their chicken strips and loaded chicken fries caught my I. Until this visit I was unaware that Kiki's have like 9 other locations, with several being in the Sacramento area. I ordered the 5 chicken strip meals with fries, plus a soft drink. Order half of the wings to be spicy sweet chili and the other half in BBQ. As I went to pay the guy noticed that I was a USAA member, and was familiar with the fact that its for military service members and their families. So he was kind enough to give me a military discount which I appreciated. Especially just for the fact he noticed the card on his own. It was mid day during the week, and there was just a couple of other guests already eating. So my meal didn't take too long to come out, and everything came out hot and fresh. Headline: First time here and first time trying chicken and waffles. Verdict? Not bad but really hard to determine how good it really is. Kiki's replaced the burger joint here and gave me a reason to visit when it's talks about chicken and wings. Of course when I enter, my original plan was dropped to try out the chicken and waffles. As others have stated, chicken was a little bit dry but had a great crunchy batter. I think what saved it in this case was the butter and maple syrup which makes me wonder why I have never tried such an interesting combination. The fries we also picked up were great and we also rounded it out with a decent salad. Service was straightforward and easy. No problms, and it didn't seem that busy but took longer than expected. I've been to another location before and remembered liking the food a lot. On our visit to this new Elk Grove location, I decided to get the Kiki's Fries, which are loaded with chicken, cheese, ranch, buffalo sauce, and blue cheese. I took out the blue cheese but I wonder if I could've substituted with one of their other sauces. Oh and don't call them "loaded" fries. I labeled them as such on my Instagram story so people would know what they were, otherwise it just looks like a sea of white and orange. The Kiki's Instagram reposted it but relabeled my photo to make sure it said "Kiki's Fries." Gave me a good laugh but geez they could've at least said thanks for the support and free photo marketing... Food came out in minutes but we had to go enjoy it at a nearby park because they don't have any indoor seating or outdoor tables at all. Seems like they've got a good system going and workers know what they're doing. The size is really generous, you can get a medium or large, with or without chicken. I could only get through half of the medium, and my husband got the large tots with chicken and could barely get halfway! Usually loaded fries or tots aren't always the best when leftover so if you can split with someone then that's the way to go. I probably wouldn't drive all the way to this side of Elk Grove just to takeout but I'm sure we will be ordering again soon via DoorDash! read more

It was my first time here. Came around 8:40pm and it wasn't too busy and our orders came out within 10 minutes! It didn't bother me but I wanted to note that the only thing that was weird was that the lights kept shutting off and it was flickering a lot for a solid 5 minutes. I ordered a medium kiki's tots with chicken and it was pretty good! I recommend eating it fresh because that's when the tots are nice and crispy but after a while, it gets soggy from all the sauce! Some of the chicken was dry but overall would be worth a try! Our friends have been raving about their tots so we of course had to try for ourselves. Entering, the vibe of the place was pretty exciting with all their decor. The staff was very helpful. After reading a few Yelp reviews, we decided to get the tots because a lot of reviewers were saying that the crunch lasted longer and they weren't wrong. I felt like the crunch of the tots we're definitely more crunchy than the chicken, but the whole plate itself was delicious. Mr doesn't like blue cheese so we opted it on the side, but he ending up trying it and was pleased with their blue cheese. The fries itself was huge and so filling. Enough to share at least 3 people. Yay for a new hot spot! Kiki's is located where BurgerIM once was and I honestly think they are here to stay! They are down the street from me and I was super eager to come by on their soft opening day. They were hosting a fundraiser for an Elk Grove local, so all proceeds went to the family! I got in line about 10 mins before opening and it was very short, got to meet Kiki herself and had a quick look at their menu. Items were limited but I ordered one of each. Got their wings, tenders and of course the Kiki fries! It took less than 15mins to receive my order and the kind lady opened up each container to show me every item. Fry portions are HUGE. My mom, husband and I easily shared them and still had some left over. The chicken tenders were a beautiful golden brand and extra crispy, just how I like them. The chicken wrings were nice and crunchy too. I've never had kiki's before, but I thought the wings would be tossed in sauce. They're actually naked and they give you sauce on the side. However, the wings are a great size! Much larger than your Wingstop or fire wings size. Both the Chinese wings and tenders were extra juicy and moist too. For the sauces, I chose their hot sauce, bbq and mango haberno. The hot sauce has a nice kick for an after taste but not very spicy, considering I was told it's their spices one. I really enjoyed their mango haberno though, it was a little tangy with a little punch. Covid-19 guidelines were all in place. They had every standing 6ft apart. Menus were passed out but rather you scan a barcode to view their limited menu. Plexiglass was put up as barriers between the registers and everyone wore masks. So lets start off with the negative since it can't be that bad right? I'm giving 4 stars. The chicken was inedible. I took one bite and could taste that the oil needed to be changed in the fryer. Like, desperately. I was super disgusted if I am being honest. I tried taking the breading off and feeding it to my dog and even she wouldn't eat it. I understand how bad that sounds given this is a chicken place, but based on everything else in my experience and all the other reviews here, I will definitely be giving them another try. Stuff happens and its possible there was a miscommunication or something got missed. It was nasty though. That being said, the fries were 5 star! Maybe 6 lol. We ordered fries and chicken here. We received the fries and chicken about 10 minutes later. We had one piece of strip chicken that was obviously from a frozen bag of chicken strips that you probably could've just gotten from Costco that was cut into a few pieces on top of the chicken. They were all covered with , what seemed like Frank's red hot sauce and watery ranch. It had very very little cheese on it as well. The fries were absolutely from a frozen package and they weren't even crispy. We were extremely disappointed with the quality at this place. Literally all this place does is make fries and pieces of chicken. You tell me why they have such a difficult time cutting a potato and frying it or cutting a piece of chicken, putting it in batter and frying it so there is 100 times better ? I think I need to say that again. All you literally do at this place is cook fries and chicken. Why is it that your employees are incompetent and unable to cut a potato with a fry cutter and fry the potato instead of using more expensive and pour quality frozen fries out of the package? Why is it that you own this business instead of buying chicken breast, cutting them into a strips and then dipping them in batter and then frying them is so difficult? FOOD: -0.5 stars. I saw pretty much all pictures of their Kiki fries/tots, but I'm not a fan of the sauces (Buffalo, ranch, and bleu cheese) so I wasn't that intrigued to try this place out. My partner loves chicken wings though and I was looking for something he would eat so wanted to give this place a try. Got the 10 wing bone-in combo with shoestring garlic fries (special request as it normally comes with "regular" fries)($15.99), an a la carte waffle ($4.99), an a la carte chicken sandwich ($7.99), and a kaikai's (kids) 6 tender combo with tots. The chicken was hella dry y'all :(!! Didn't matter if it was bone-in or tenders, it was just super dry and relatively flavorless (though I did get them naked; note: some were garlic Parmesan and those didn't have much flavor either). The real winners were the non-chicken items: garlic fries and waffle. The shoestring garlic fries were delish! You definitely need to be a garlic lover though. I prefer shoestring fries and for a lot of people they probably would've been considered overdone and too crispy, but I enjoyed them. And it was definitely worth it to get as a combo, they give you basically a whole container of fries! I barely even put a dent in them; if you didn't know any better you wouldn't think i ate any at all there was that much. The waffle is a basic Belgian waffle, but I got it because who doesn't love chicken and waffles? But really, I just wanted to try the maple bacon butter. That was yum! I would recommend trying the waffle just for that. Overall, the chicken was a huge disappointment and I wouldn't go back for it. However, the sides/non-chicken items got me thinking otherwise. The counter in the middle is modern, while the rest of the place is more old school with records and posters. Paint was kinda scraped up from tables and/or chairs, which I was a bit confused by since I thought this location opened relatively recently and there's no dining at this location. I did like that they had chair spaced out all around so plenty of places to sit and wait for your food. Kiki's is my go-to place when I don't know where to eat. Their customer service is always top notch (this goes for every Kiki's establishment I've been to). Kiki's Fries WITH chicken never disappoints (you always have to get it with chicken) and their chicken sandwich is pretty good too. However the quality of food is still great like the other one. This one seems a little more organized then the drive thru location. We were excited to see a new Kiki's open up in Elk Grove - and on the east side at that (we need more options on the east end). Went for opening weekend and was happy to find the line not snaking around the parking lot sidewalk as we had seen during the first days of their soft opening. Although, we did purposefully go during an off-peak hour too. They have a scannable QR code on the door so you can look at the menu too. They're all set up for social distancing, complete with hand sanitizer at the entrance door & clearly marked spots for the waiting line. No tables are set up, as they're only offering takeout & delivery right now - but the chairs for waiting are conveniently distanced. The place is spacious (could just seem that way because there are currently no tables), but the parking lot does always seem extra busy. Staff is friendly, and the food is great (as always). Opening weekend did not disappoint. We got the Kiki's Fries, Kiki's Tots and a Chicken Tender combo meal for the littles to share. Everything was great! SO glad they're open in EG now! read more

Tried Kiki's at the soft opening yesterday. Pretty long line at 5 pm, but they did a good job getting it moving. The wait was probably 10 minutes plus about 5 minutes after ordering. Great job staffing up to make the soft opening so smooth. I am a pretty big fan of fried chicken and eaten more than my share so I was really excited that they were opening in Elk Grove. We ordered three 5 piece tenders and a Kikis fries. The tenders were good, not great. As others have commented, without the sauce, they weren't the most flavorful. The fries were more flavorful with the Buffalo sauce and cheese, but they could have used another couple of minutes in the fryer. We only live about ten minutes away but they were pretty soft by the time we got home. I will guess that given how busy they were, they were batch frying so things were not as fresh as it could be.
