We have been coming to Creekside Diner for many, many years. Every time I'm in Sacramento visiting…read morefamily, my dad and I always have breakfast here before I head home. It has become one of those traditions that just feels familiar and comforting. One of my favorite little things about Creekside is that they use random coffee mugs at the tables instead of matching ones. It gives the diner such a homey, personal feel. After my mom passed away in 2018, we brought in 12 light blue coffee mugs that had never been used. On this visit, I happened to spot one of those mugs sitting on a table, and it honestly stopped me for a second. Seeing that one of her mugs is still there eight years later warmed my heart more than I can explain. It felt like a tiny little piece of her was still part of a place that has been part of our family routine for so long. My dad ordered off the senior menu and got his usual Denver omelette. Since he has to watch his carbs because of his diabetes, they're always kind enough to let him substitute the potatoes and toast for cottage cheese and fruit. He's definitely a creature of habit and orders the same thing every time, but he's always happy with it! I decided to go with a grilled ham and cheese sandwich and substituted a side salad for the fries. I loved how much ham they piled onto the sandwich. They definitely don't skimp! The staff is always so friendly and helpful, and you can tell this is truly a neighborhood diner where the locals come regularly. My dad even comes here on his own when I'm not in town. Creekside Diner is more than just a breakfast stop for us at this point. It's part of our Sacramento tradition, and we will always come back whenever I'm in town.

We were seated quickly and the service was quick to get our drink orders. After we were brought our waters, we placed our order. I decided to try the California burger with cheddar cheese instead of the Monterey Jack cheese. The burger came out really juicy to my surprise! My friend went with the unlimited soup and salad. The gumbo was good in flavor and the garlic toast was a nice touch. She tried the chili next and did not like it as there were so many beans in it. She did like that it had a little kick to it.

Drink refills were frequent and she checked on us regularly. I had the Riverboat omelet and my mother had the Mississippi skillet. On my mother's it lacked spice. She ended up asking for salsa to help with the lack of taste. Mine came with chili luckily. The omelet alone had little taste and I think that's because of all the veggies in it. But once you added the flavorful chili it was really good. The hash browns were crispy and brown but a little greasier than I like. The restaurant was cute. The music and vibe were fun. The punctures on the wall were fun to look at too.

If you are looking for bad service , do not come here…read more Today, I was introduced to this gem of a community diner by a friend. Right away, Mama Goose (the waitress confessed this as her nickname) greeted me with a no nonsense and friendly attitude. This is a person you would hope to greet you, and at the same time you would never want to cross. The interior was very throwback to a time when this diner likely first experienced its hay-day several decades ago. Everything was clean, and the bathroom was so big, it was the size of my first apartment in San Francisco. Water refills were fast, and I ordered an omelette with no meat. It was very tasty, but the potatoes really stole the show with its perfectly crisp and seasoned portions. The prices are very fair/affordable. I felt welcomed here, just like I was visiting a friend in their home. It is clear that regular patrons keep coming back, and all are remembered by the staff. I highly recommend this experience!

It's the last day of my PTO, my car is getting fixed down the street, and figured I'd give it a chance I know it's been here forever, and it showed.... literally everyone who came in after me was addressed by either their first name or as "Mr. Smith." So...a lot of regulars. I pigged out...ordered the chili cheese omelette with a pancake on the side. The omelette was good...not the best I've had, but would not mind returning for it. The breakfast potatoes were near perfect....hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the middle. Just cut down on the seasoning, as the delicious potatoes were a tad salty. The pancake had a nice flavor too them, so kudos on the restaurant's batter. I'm not typically in this area, especially in the morning, but on those rare instances I may be, I'd definitely return
