3/5: Food was good but service was too too chaotic We were a group of 4 on a Friday night walking in at 8 pm. The wait was an hour and a half, so we walked down the street to drink wine and chill. When we got the call, we walked over and were seated right away. Vibes are nice, lots of young people, and outdoor seating is always good in the summer. There's no visible signage from the outside so that's confusing but no big deal. It was my first time at Kiki's and our friends are always raving about it so was excited to try. What we ordered: We got the zucchini chips, tirokafteri, spanakopita, Mama's roast chicken, and later got Nico's cheesecake. We also ordered grilled octopus but that never came. Food: Zucchini chips were really good, would definitely recommend! Tirokafteri has a really goat cheese-y taste to it, if that's what you like. The bread and pita that came with it were grilled but hard and really cold. I thought the spanakopita was really good, but my friend said it kind of tasted like the TJ's frozen one. Chicken was super juicy but not really that flavorful. Somebody on Yelp said it was life changing but honestly, a Costco rotisserie chicken is about the same. Cheesecake was recommended to us by the server, but it was really sweet and the bottom crust was an inch thick and SO hard to cut through, and it was nearly midnight and we couldn't be bothered to eat it. Service: After we ordered, the server kept asking if we wanted anything else, but we wanted to see how hungry we were after eating what we ordered to order more. Three of our small plates came, 45 minutes passed until we decided to ask about our food, and another 15 minutes before we were able to find our server again. She said our chicken would be on the house. Another 15 minutes later, we saw the server walk by, kind of gasp, and run back to the POS. Another 10 minutes later, we got our chicken. The server apologized and said dessert was also on the house. Kind of chaotic, and a little concerning they didn't check on us for an hour. Finally checked out this neighborhood Greek spot. They even expanded during the pandemic so they're on both sides of the street. The food is simple but delicious. Everything is reasonably priced and the portions are generous. The octopus was perfectly cooked and the eggs over fries were addictive. Service is friendly but slightly unorganized. I've been here twice and each time the quality and service has been top notch. There's always a bit of a wait to get a table but it's never too long and always worth it. The interior is cozy, warm and welcoming. The tables are kind of all squished together but the ambiance is comfortable. Because I'm Greek, I have a high standard for Greek food. Kikis is the best I've found in New York hands down. I cannot wait to bring my dad here. The pastitsio is creamy and flavorful. The feta is the perfect texture, and the Greek salad is perfect. The lemon potatoes aren't better than the ones in Greece but it comes close. The chicken is dry in some parts and the lamb dish is a bit hard to eat but overall it's incredible Greek food. I actually didn't realize until like halfway through dinner, Kikis takes up both the space under the "printing" sign and the space across the street. We were a party of 10 and they were able to get a table for us when we came around 30 min before being seated to wait at the sister bar down the street to wait for the rest of our party to arrive. What a cute Greek restaurant! They have quite a bit of outdoor seating, on both sides of the street. We got here around 6:30pm on a weeknight and was seated immediately for a table for two. It got quite busy as the night went on, and there was definitely a line around 7/7:30pm for people waiting for tables. We shared the tzatziki, grilled octopus, and lamb chops with fries (medium-rare). The tzatziki came with a side of pita as well as some bread slices (which I was a little surprised by, I personally preferred the fluffiness of the pita more). The octopus was flavorful and very tender, and the lemon on the top really brought out the other flavors. The lamb chops were my favorite part! The dip that came on the side paired super well with the meat and the fries (I even put some on a piece of pita as well). read more

My girlfriend and I walked in, asked for a reservation. They asked us to wait 1.5 hours and yet a group of 6 Caucasian people walked in and got seated with no problem. I came back an hour later asking for a status update and the hostess gave me attitude saying "we said an hour and a half right?". A true 5 star NYC gem. This is a restaurant hidden in an old Chinese print shop, and they haven't changed the sign, which makes it feel very cool/almost like you're at a secret location. The place is deceptively big - I love how you can be tucked in a corner in a crowded restaurant, yet it can still feel like an intimate meal. Aside from the actual restaurant, the food is just delicious. I went with a friend who is a restaurant pro, so she was in charge of ordering. The outside is a regular signs storefront and doesn't have the name kikis outside but it's on a corner. There's lot of tables inside and it's a pretty big place but it does get packed. This is my first ever review because of the unprofessionalism of the owner/manager we experienced yesterday. We were having a great time and when we got the bill we were told that we had to pay cash only (this is not a cash only establishment btw) and weren't told that before sitting. It is easy to walk past this place. I have done it many times, and due to its proximity to Chinatown, it is reasonable to see why. The awning over the Division Street storefront is displayed in Chinese characters. The signage over the entrance declares it is a Chinese owned shop. But it is all Greek to me. My wife ordered a lamb dish and was told they "are all out". But they still had lamb chops on the menu though. Huh? I had the Greek version of shepard's pie. I liked it, and although the serving size was generous, i polished it off. Not usually a fan of eggplant, there was thankfully little of it and it was hidden in the mound of ground meat.
