I love Kiki's food and ambience of the lower east side! It was a nice escape from the chaos in midtown. The street was quiet and it was an enjoyable afternoon catching up with old friends at Kiki's. It was actually my first time trying Greek cuisine and I'm so happy that everything we ordered was a delight. I've been a loyal fan of Kiki's for years and have recommended it to countless friends. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience today around 7 PM. I briefly sat with friends who were finishing dinner outside, and a waitress (red/blue chest tattoos) approached us in an unusually aggressive manner, insisting I couldn't sit without speaking to the host. I fully respect restaurant policies, but the way it was handled felt unnecessarily rude and abrupt. It soured what was otherwise a happy, spontaneous moment. Kiki's has always been a favorite... One of the hardest spots to get into because they don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait for a table - but once you're in, you'll understand why Kiki's is so loved. Kiki's offers classic Greek dishes at such a reasonable price for the city - all of their main plates were under $20, I believe...which is an incredible deal!! First off I Love their french fries - perfectly seasoned, crisp, just everything you'd want from hand cut fries. And the homemade mustard sauce is just right! My Dakos salad was exactly what I wanted. Filling and light. There's barley rusk in there, not just veggies and cheese. The seasoning is awesome. Octopus isn't the best I've had but it was pretty damn good and went well with my salad. Perfect lunch! Just wish they weren't so crowded for dinner, it's impossible to get a table. The saganaki was so good. A combination of savory and sweet, but if you're not a fan of cheese, I would avoid it as it is very cheesy. The lamb chops were amazing! We went to Kiki's for a Sunday dinner after hearing good things about this place from a Greek friend. We got seated quickly at the bar around 6:30 pm - the line got longer later in the evening. They don't take reservations, so I recommend coming in early on the weekend. Grilled Loukaniko ($14): this orange peel-flavored sausage has a unique citrus taste. The lemon squeeze balances out the meatiness pretty well. The sausage skin is on the harder side (which I prefer). However, $14 is a bit overpriced for likely just one sausage link. Spanakopita ($15): The crispy layers are thin, light, and soft, filled with a generous amount of spinach and feta in between. It's a little bit on the salty side likely because of the feta but not too salty. My first time trying this traditional Greek dish and it did not disappoint me. Moussaka Plate ($17): My favorite dish! It's like a Greek version of lasagna, but instead of pasta, they use mashed potato as layers. I'm normally not a potato person but this mashed potato is so creamy and light. It's not flavored too much which pairs perfectly with the minced pork and beef which is tomato-y (kinda like the red pasta sauce). The top of the potato layer is baked to crispy which adds texture to the dish. My only complaint is the lack of eggplant - I only had one small piece of it but overall the dish is great. The restaurant is located in between Chinatown and LES which probably explains the hipster/chill vibe of itself. I find it very interesting that the restaurant doesn't have an English sign but instead, it has a Chinese sign (which directly translated to Kiki's Greek Bistro). So if you find yourself at the corner of Division and Orchard looking at a restaurant with random Chinese signs, dw, you are at the right place! read more

Tucked away in a corner of Chinatown, Kiki's is popping, even on a random weekday. The streets are closed off so it's nice to see many people dining and drinking outdoors. I doubt there's any other place where you can get Greek food for this affordable of a cost with so many options. This was my first time at a Greek restaurant after having been craving the cuisine and after having heard Kiki's was as good as you could get I naturally showed up as quickly as I could. For 8 dollars per appetizer dip that came with pita and bread, you're really getting a steal. The pita was warm and soft but the bread was really nothing special and kinda dry so none of us ate the latter. I have nothing to compare the dips I tried to anything else but the eggplant garlic one was my favorite of the two. The saganaki had the most beautiful crusty exterior and the cheese was just a touch melted. Admittedly the flavor of the cheese was a little too strong for me so I didn't enjoy it that much but I really loved having the chance to try it. The fried zucchini was the best part of what we had. Soft and melty in the middle and slightly crunchy on the exterior with a sprinkle of cheese on top. Will be back to try more of the menu! read more

My partner and I went here for date night and while it did not miss on the ambiance, I was a bit disappointed in the food. The restaurant is very cute. It has 2 different sections and both are good for either a date or friends. It also is a place that you could wear any clothing in terms of how casual or fancy you like. The staff were all really helpful and friendly. We had great service and a much shorter wait than we were anticipating. The only downside was that we just didn't think the food was our favorite. Kiki's is a hip, LES spot in "Dimes Square". Very casual--nothing fancy about it. The food is best described as Greek home cooking. That said, it's better than most similar Greek restaurants around New York. They have a solid spanikopita, a flavorful and vinegary eggplant dip, and decent lamb. If I were to find fault with their menu, it would be with the salads. Would love to see a lettucey, vegetabley, big salad with protein options. The vibe is fun and lively. I was a bit disappointed in the lamb dish, though. I thought the sauce was really thin, and I would've preferred it to be much creamier. For $18 though, it is a great deal. The spinach rice was disappointing. I've had it before and it is a favorite of mine. I wasn't expecting spinach rice soup. Threw me off. Horiatiki salad - it's a greek salad without the lettuce. Giant slab of feta. Tzatziki - good but felt ripped off. Maybe it's presentation. Small circular slab of spread on a large rectangular tupperware. It makes it feel like there should be more! I was introduced to Kiki's about a year ago by my most artsy-fartsy friend. I hate that term but struggled to come up with something better that gets my point across. He is also the friend that takes more pride in his food choices, and genuinely thinks he has better taste than most everyone on the planet, maybe in the solar system. But in fairness he does rarely miss so... I'm rambling. Locking back in. I met him at Kiki's and really just was struck by the energy that hits you right when you walk in, or even near this place. It's a youthful energy in the best way possible. People are eating outside, laughing, smiling, and seemingly just enjoying life and their presence in here. That discreet corner where Orchard and Division meet is magical. For food, that Mama's oven roasted chicken is actually life changing. It is cooked to perfection and fell off the bone, served with lemon potatoes in a sauce that was to die for. At $16 I'm putting it in my inflation buster category, as the portion size is easily enough to split with someone, unless you're a big dawg like myself. The Marousalata salad is one of my favorite salads I have had in the city. Since popping my Kiki's cherry wit Mr. Artsy Fartsy, I have been back 5+ times. Kiki's was my introduction to Dimes Square, and I have since fallen in love with it. The only place in NYC that I feel challenges East Village as a cultural mixing pot layered with character is Dimes Square. I adore it. The menu offers lunch options, hot and cold plates, salads, entrees, and a drink list. We came here for an early dinner, and we were seated within a few minutes. Had a nice lunch at Kikis, which I had been meaning to try for some time. Two people shared Tzatziki, grilled octopus, and Imam Baildi (eggplant with peppers) and it was a good amount of food. The tzatziki was good but nothing out of the ordinary. The octopus was very lightly grilled and moist. I prefer octopus to be a little bit more charred, but Kiki's lightly grilled preparation is probably more authentic. My favorite dish of the meal was the Imam Baildi, which was eggplant with peppers on top and dusted with cheese. I am not a huge fan of eggplant generally, but it is so good in this dish and the tomato sauce and peppers pair very well. In terms of service, the resturant was full including the bar seating, and the two servers were obviously not able to keep up with all of the tables. I felt this was unfair to both the customers and the servers, who I am sure would get better tips if they were able to provide standard service. I hope someone was just out sick that day and that Kiki's doesn't routinely understaff lunch service. read more

Considering the restaurant space consists of conjoined nooks and crannies, most of the tables are surprisingly isolated and not cramped. For the price, you've got to be kidding me. Whole fish and lamb chops under $30 each. I lived in Greektown in Chicago for years and though as a purely Greek restaurant Kiki's has a few peers there, it has to be the most memorable. After my friend got takeout from Kiki's one day, she insisted that we visit in person. They seemed to have two locations right across the street from each other, but it was confusing because neither of the locations had a sign that said "Kiki's." You are supposed to ask to be seated at only one of the buildings and although it looked packed, the location surprisingly had many rooms. It was a bit crowded and loud, but still a comfortable atmosphere to dine and converse in. We decided to order three small hot plates to share and then order our own dessert. To share, we chose to get the patates me avga, spanakopita, and calamari. The patates me avga consisted of an interesting concept of a sunny side egg laying on a bed of fries and a mayo-based sauce. The fries themselves were pretty average, but the egg was a game changer and really elevated the plate. The spanakopita was smaller than expected and came as one square, so it was slightly difficult to share, especially since the exterior was a bit tough. However, the tasty filling was nice and warm, and the crust was satisfyingly flaky with a buttery aroma. The calamari was nice and crispy, but it was bland, so I recommend dipping it in the sauce that came with the patates to give it some flavor. The small plates didn't completely fill our stomachs, so we each ordered our own dessert. My friend got the baklava and I ordered the cheesecake. The baklava was underwhelming, didn't look as expected, and tasted like cinnamon toast crunch. However, it didn't taste bad and my friend still happily finished it. I LOVED my cheesecake. It had a very thick graham cracker crust and the cheesecake itself wasn't too solid, so it was easy to eat.
