Yummy! Burger is pretty good but nothing super special. Fries and custard= delicious!!

Great frozen custard! Def recommend a stop by here. I had the Cookie Monster sundae and my nephew got some chocolate ice cream and loved it.

The only five star review for our OBX vacation goes to Kill Devil's Frozen Custard and Beach Fries. It was the latter part of the name, the beach fries, that lured us in, and we were not disappointed. These were outstanding. The custard - a relatively new item to my kids -- was good too -- thicker than ice cream, but just as good. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the BBQ sandwich. I'm not a big fan of the eastern NC version of BBQ, what with the heavy vinegar on everything. But this sandwich was long on fine pork flavor, with only a hint of vinegar. The chili dog was big and covered with a thick, tasty chili, so I enjoyed that as well. The ladies at the counter were friendly and efficient, so we can't wait to come back! read more

VERY disappointed. We ordered a hot fudge sundae. The custard was melted. I have had soup thicker that this. The staff should know better than to serve custard this way. Some might say that the hot fudge melted it but not like this. Too many other custard shops at the OBX for us to ever go back to this one. read more

Went to try the custard because I good custard will keep u coming back.....but stay away from the cookie custard sandwich as it's premade earlier in the day and wrapped in plastic wrap and it's not even the cookie u get with the monster cookie sundae. Not worth the $3.50... sad read more

Shared the Sea Turtle Sunday. The custard wasn't like Milwaukee but for NC it was okay - they tried I guess??? With all custards you must remember your location first & foremost then look at the price. In reality it's thicker ice-cream. Quick service for July 4th weekend (I assume everyone went home by the time we got there) and relatively cheap. This place is great. The line was intimidating but it went fast. You can order your ice cream with your other food and choose to pick it up afterward. I had the better burger, beach fries and the frozen custard. I would eat here often if I lived close! read more

Addicting! My family came across this place one night while vacationing and returned every night the remainder of our trip! They always have vanilla, chocolate, and a flavor of the day, but we typically got pints to go (more fun flavor options that way). You can also do mix ins or sundaes if that's your thing. read more

Delicious custard, just wish that there were more than 3 flavors to choose from. When we went, it was vanilla, chocolate or banana. I opted for vanilla which was delicious and bf opted for chocolate. There's tables/benches for you to sit and enjoy your food. There's also an extensive menu of non-dessert items, though when we went it was mostly ice cream and shakes for everyone. read more

Who needs Dairy Queen when you can get frozen custard, and Kill Devil's is definately worth a stop. This small outdoor eatery serves up 3 flavors of frozen custard every day: vanilla, chocolate, and a daily changing special. The large is 3 scoops and you can mix and match flavors. You can definately tell this is custard and not ice cream, the custard flavor comes through. I can't speak for their other food offerings, but the custard alone is worth a stop to cool off after a day at the beach. read more

Cute little stand but not much parking and usually a bit of a wait for food. They explain why the custard is pricey but the portion size leaves a bit to be desired. I can definitely recommend this place for a really great lunch. Great custard, much better than Rita's. Also, unexpectedly fantastic burgers! I got a cheeseburger and it was on a delicious bun, the meat was flavorful, plenty of standard burger toppings. My well-traveled bro-in-law said it may be the best burger he's ever eaten. My SIL had the veggie burger and said it was great too. Kids loved the corn dogs. The fries were good, straight from the potato. We wanted to go back the next three days in a row, it was that good. We got the corn dogs and fries and they were so delicious. The gulls were of course circling for fries. We got a brownie sundae and they told us they make their custard fresh every few hours which is why they have so few flavors. It's very good so they're doing something right! read more

I can only speak to the custard but - wow - it was great. They had three flavors the night that we were there. We got all three and shared - amazing. All super smooth and creamy. Very over priced. $20 for two milkshakes, a small dish and a kids cup. Banana milkshake was so thick it wouldn't even go through the straw. Peach didnt have much flavor. Was ok, but not the best I've had. Think twice as we might have been over charged; no receipt given. read more

Went tonight and was very disappointed. I paid over 7 dollars for the smallest hot fudge/ peanut butter sundae. I was shocked at the scant amount of hot fudge that was added to the sundae, maybe one teaspoon at best. I did think the custard tasted incredible but was shocked at the small size and scant toppings relative to the high price. read more

One of the first places we stop each time we arrive in the Outer Banks. The beach fries with cheese (or chili too) are to die for. The pics don't do them justice. Also, their custard is amazingly creamy and hits the spot on a hot day. Try their BBQ sandwich too for a change of pace. read more

When you're driving north on 12, look for the windmill before you get to the Wright Bros monument and there it is! What else can I say that hasn't been written? Amazing. custard. The hot fudge sundae is my favorite... and the homemade whipped cream is great. The custard is super rich. Super creamy. Super delicious. Line is out into the parking lot most nights, so go early... or be prepared to wait. Lunch is pretty good here, as well... we usually split the large beach fries and I usually get a couple corn dogs or a burger. Really good food. We stopped here on 2 different occassions on our recent trip to OBX. It's well-placed and easy to find with perfect location on a corner on the main strip & great signage & flags even! The first time we stopped is because we wanted an afternoon snack and saw the sign said "frozen custard & beach fries." What the heck are beach fries, we wondered? Apparently, they are super-fresh-never-frozen-0 trans fat-ordinary 'ole fries. Don't get me wrong, they were very fresh and good, but just plain 'ole fries when it boils down to it. We wanted to come back later in the week and give their custard a try, so we brought the rest of the family back a few days later. We each got something different--husband got a frozen custard sandwich, dad got a banana split, family friend got a brownie sundae, mom and sis got a blizzard, and I got a waffle. The brownie sundae was too rich and melted too quickly because of how hot everything was on it. The 2 blizzards were ok. The banana split was huge and was shared by everyone--definitely a win! My waffle (2 waffles actually with a scoop of your flavor of frozen custard in the middle) was YUMMY! The custard sandwich had a good flavor but was super super small (esp for the price). Overall I thought it was good, and would go back, but the rest of the family wasn't impressed. It got mixed reviews for the frozen custard from our family, but was worth the stop. read more

I was pretty disappointed with my visits here. The friends I was traveling with really wanted to eat here and we ended up going twice. In those two visits, they messed up our (fairly simple) order four times (which is frustratingly impressive). The food was good, but when they make a mistake, move to fix it, and then make another mistake instead it takes a bit away from the experience. Seems like it could have been a nice place. read more
