First s'mores cone of the year!
    Cristina B.

Kilwins is, without a doubt, my favorite place to grab a waffle cone and some ice cream. This location is no different. We stopped in this evening after a date day in Ann Arbor. I absolutely loved the ambience and decor of this location. I truly felt welcomed, almost like I was in a family's house around Christmas. The scooper was kind and let my boyfriend and I sample a few flavors. I was a bit bummed they didn't have the s'mores flavor in stock (it's my all time favorite) but it gave me the chance to try a new flavor instead! I got Cake Batter in a homemade waffle cone (spend the extra $1 and get the waffle cone! They're fresh and seriously the best!) I loved this flavor! Not my favorite, but still good. My boyfriend opted for sorbetto in a cup. I believe it was raspberry and lemon flavor. It wasn't my favorite, but he said it was delicious. The best he ever had! Can't wait to come back again on game day!

Stayed in town for a week and stopped by Kilwins 2x. It was soooo good. Had a small Sunday the first time with super creamy ice cream and rich chocolate sauce. Second time had a blueberry single scoop cone. Delicious!

It's funny because I tend to go to Kilwin's more when I'm out of town, say in a vacation town like Saugatuck, then I do to the location in my own town. But whenever we go here I always ask myself, "why aren't we here more often??" The ice cream is delicious. The location is great. They're open late in the spring and summer months, and the small bits of seating outside make a lovely place to enjoy your cone on a nice summer evening. And the line is always much shorter than the other ice cream place down the street (which I also love but am always daunted by the line). I've never made a candy purchase at their candy shop next door but for ice cream? This place is solid.

Kilwins is by far the most average-ly solid ice cream place I've been to in awhile. Its homely, factory aesthetic provides a nice atmosphere to enjoy ice cream in and the workers were all fairly friendly and didn't mind some small talk while getting ice cream. Mind you, I also came at a very unbusy time. In terms of seating, I counted a total of 10 seats within the parlor which isn't necessarily a bad thing because most people walk and eat ice cream. However this place certainly would be hard to visit with a medium sized group of people since the area of the parlor is also fairly small. Also they have a waffle making station at the windows of the ice cream parlor which felt really out of place and awkward. The worker there wasn't super friendly and I just felt like I want intruding on her work. My friend and I got the Heaven's Hash with some waffle cone pieces in it and it was fairly good! The ice cream itself was a nice rich and creamy texture. I thought the flavor could have been more present but it was still there. The waffle pieces really added a necessary crunch that spiced up the ice cream because the flavor really wasn't pulling the effort. In conclusion, this was fairly good! I saw nothing wrong, except for a slightly lack of flavor and slightly expensive ice cream.

    The happy place

It's a great little spot tucked off the high end restaurants off Main Street. I stopped in after dinner and drinks with a sweet tooth that was screaming for ice cream. Besides only Kilwins can satisfy me when it's desert time. The place is very clean and very warm and inviting. A reminder of mom and grandmas house during the holidays. Always baking Christmas goodies for family and friends and filling the air with comforting smells. The service was spectacular and she had me try the salted caramel ice cream and it was heavenly in every way. I had my usual mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone and relaxed inside while I slowly favored every lick And bite of the savory waffle cone. I would recommend this gem of a business to anyone that likes ice cream and many selections of quality sweets. I promise you'll be completely satisfied.

Wow!! Just wow on the ice cream and chocolate!! Once you enter you leave with lots of amazing sweets. Stop and enjoy.

    My happy ending!

Loved the chocolate ice cream! They don't accept cards for less than $5 bills. But I used to really like the drinking chocolate here!

You notice the great smell right when you walk in. Tasty ice cream, traditional flavors, all good. A bit pricey at $4.25 for a single scoop.

I also got the double dark chocolate, which was decent but a little more lackluster than I expected. They have a huge variety of flavors though and it definitely feels like the kind of place you need to come back to multiple times to really explore the menu. Every time I walk by there's basically a line around the block, so clearly people love it. Thankfully when I actually went, the service moved pretty quickly. Definitely somewhere I'd come back to try more flavors.

I feel like if you like Rum Raisin ice cream, you'd like the flavors of this! It was pretty decadent but not in a chocolate-y way. This shop is located across the street from UM campus in one of the busier and more appealing commercial areas in Ann Arbor. On this stop, I'll note that the service was up to B&J's standard and the prices were what I would expect. My wife and I generally split a two-scoop cup when we visit an ice cream establishment in order to moderate calories and conserve cost, but mostly to allow for us to sample more than one flavor at a time. It also allows us to experiment a little with mixing complementary flavors. On this trip, we mixed an old favorite with a different option (for us). Chunky Monkey is a longstanding favorite for us but Tonight Dough was a new revelation. It's been around since 2015 but we have never tried it. Created in collaboration with Jimmy Fallon, it is a mix of chocolate and caramel with chocolate cookie swirls, chocolate chip cookie dough and peanut butter cookie dough. It pairs well with the wonderful banana flavor in Chunky Monkey. It was indeed a treat. I'll look forward to trying this combination again. I'll also look forward to my next trip to the UM area to make another stop at this particular shop.
