The ambiance is outside, it's a walk up ice cream shop. The service was pretty average and expected at these type of places nothing spectacular in the customer service department. The ice cream was great, they offer a lot for the price. I'm not sure if they make their own soft serve ice cream but if they do. They definitely have to keep up the great work. I stopped by yesterday and loved my visit. I cannot tell you how many times I have marveled at prices at other ice cream places and what people pay to get. This place is simply AWESOME! Loved the Trash Can I got, as well as the quick service. Easy in, plenty of parking, easy order and short wait, and easy out. Plus, no shortage of toppings on the sundae. I stopped by for a quick bite of ice cream before the summer came to an end. I wasn't expecting much from a soft-serve ice cream franchise but the staff -- particularly Miles -- changed my mind. I was just there standing in the rain, waiting to order my dole whip (flavour of the week was mango), when I was suddenly called up. The young lady working the front was very nice and sufficient, quickly getting my order before I stood off to the side. As I waited patiently for my dole whip, it was like a flash of light. I look in the back of the ice cream shop through the window- only to see a young man working so hard, fast and professionally. When he handed me my door whip, I couldn't help but to ask for his name (Miles). We chatted for a while and let me tell you this young man was spriteful! His joy was a radiant beam, I could tell he was proud to work at Spad's Twisters. On top of the amazing staff, the dole whip was great too. This might sound fake, but I swear it's true -- there was a rainbow in the sky when I walked away. Can't say Miles caused it, but I'm not ruling it out either. Anyway, good place. Great ice cream. If you like minescule portions, flavorless ice cream, and limited choices, then this place is not for you. Huge selection of sundae options, as well as plenty of syrups and toppings to dress up a plain cone. And you get a lot for your money. My wife and I got small tin room sundaes, and the portion of soft-serve resembled a baseall with a cone attached. Plenty of chocolate syrup and peanuts surrounded that cone. The ice cream was rich with good vanilla flavor and the chocolate syrup didn't taste like the cheap stuff. Paid @ $4 each. Was there with a few other family members, who also marveled at the portions. My brother in law got a medium cone topped with about 5" of ice cream. And everyone was happy with the way it tasted. There is a small outdoor seating area, most of which was blessedly in the shade. There's also a path down into a local park if like a little more scenery with your dessert. Overall, a great place to hit for some cold sweet stuff. read more

We stopped to grab some ice cream tonight. I usually get the gold mine with the hot fudge and peanut butter. There were several teenage girls working this evening and none of them were overly helpful. Several people received their order before us that had been in line behind us. That's OK, maybe those were easier to make. I received mine and it only had hot fudge on it and everything was melting over the sides of the cup. I asked the girl if it was made correctly. She told me that the peanut butter was in the middle, I checked and nothing there. I went back and another person told me they didn't make it, but the sauce was usually at the bottom underneath all of the ice cream. Come to find out they made it wrong. There was no effort to add the one topping that I politely asked them to add. We will go somewhere else from now on. read more

Twisters always gives you more! A medium cone here would be a large at DQ. It was pretty difficult to eat it without a lot of drippage. I have also purchased a Flurry in the recent past here and (like another review) it really had too much candy in it. I would like to see a bit more balance in sizing and candy/add-in amounts. This much soft serve needs a larger cone base, for example. I was a little afraid it would fall in my lap. It lasted the entire drive into Dexter, taking the back roads. read more

Large menu, fast service, fair prices. The ice cream is pretty basic, but they have lots of options and give a large portion for a fair price. You can have a cone, shake, flurry, sundae, glacier. They have frozen yogurt, hard dip shells, and lots of mix ins. I left off a star because the dumpster was pretty smelly from the sitting area I ordered a small Reese's flurry and it was huge! They don't skimp on the mixins. It was simple but exactly what you expect and definitely hits the spot. Very family friendly. Good place to bring a pet too because everything is outdoors. read more

Great little ice cream walk-up in Chelsea. Good selection, and friendly people. The Turtle sundae in my favorite. Only downside to this spot is that there is no shade as you waiting in line or waiting for your order. Full, hot summer sun. You will have to order and walk over to the park next door for some relief. Good location, just wish they had a bit of shade from the summer sun. From their front window, it looks like they are huge community supporters. Love it! read more

GROSS! Ive had 3 flurries so far this year. The 2 cherry cordials had so much cherry in it that toward the end I was gagging and had to toss it out. Today I had salted caramel---it was a cupful of chocolate caramel candies, large chunks of salt and a little icecream. The giant chucks of salt melted the small amount of icecream. Always great ice cream, lines can get long, they have frozen yogurt, as well as ice cream, they have a lots of dishes and different flavors to add to the plain chocolate and vanilla! You can add a flavor into you cone or dish, get a rainbow of different flavors to add to them, or coatings like nuts, butter brickle, or a cotton candy shell coating, lots of options. Man, I should open an ice cream store. Know what it would have? A huge parking lot (though Twisters is better then most--good luck getting in/out of the Dairy Queen in Saline). A system for order taking that doesn't involve a teenage girl contorting herself to take my order through a small screen a foot below eye level. That's always weird, because you have to bend down in reciprocation in order to have any kind of conversation. And LOTS of ice cream flavors. I get it, now, that "Twisters" represents the fact that the only have soft serve (vanilla, chocolate and twist), but my kids were disappointed. Kudos, though, for the mini size option. Two small cones and a parfait for $8. Happy with that. Also, you can walk to the adjoining park and eat your ice cream in the shade (look for the trail across from the employee entrance door). read more

I was craving a hot fudge sundae on Labor day and thought I would give Twisters another try. My experience a few years ago was bad and I never went back. Nothing has changed. I was treated rudely then and was treated rudely yesterday. The girl taking my order for a hot fudge sundae was nice, but the snot who prepared it was very negative. I asked her where the hot fudge was and the cherry, ( which I had originally asked for and paid for) She said its on the bottom. I sat in my car to eat the sundae and I wish I would have had a measuring spoon. There couldn't have been a tablespoon of hot fudge in the bowl. It was a medium sundae. McDonalds puts more hot fudge on their sundaes and they are only a dollar. The ice cream was low end. It had several ice chunks in it. This will be my last visit to Twisters. too bad...I live less than a mile away from them. Bad service and low quality ice cream, I don't know how they stay in business.. I should have seen it coming when there was no line on Labor day at 6:30 at night. This is a prime time for ice cream. read more

Horrible Ice Cream!!! I hated it the first and only time I tried it. I thought about going back but then an article came out in the Standard where the workers were making fun of obese people and how much ice cream they eat. I think not. Since then I have not returned and I send people elsewhere. I wish we had better ice cream in town. read more
