The best ice cream we found in Charleston. A must do if you are anywhere near the City Market or Waterfront Park. I found the price - around $5 for a single scoop in a waffle cone - to be reasonable. It turned out to be MORE than enough. I love me some ice cream and I could hardly finish mine. The waffle cone was also still warm, so I liked the fact that it was freshly made. Wow. Just wow. That's the only way to describe the decadent sweetness that comes out of this place. They have pralines. And being from Louisiana I was hesitant to try them, especially considering I make pralines myself, but they were really good. I was even able to give the guy a tutorial on the proper pronunciation of the word hahaha. I decided to have the New Orleans praline ice cream on a sugar cone. Delicious! They let you sample what ever flavor you'd like so there is no buying remorse. The selection of chocolates and candies was overwhelming, but in a good way. I was just browsing downtown and came across this place and I am a fan of State Fairs, and the caramel/peanut covered candy apple was the best I have ever had. Before the South Carolina state fair was my go to, but this place, I never need to get a candy apple from the fair again and its only 20 mins from the house. Definitely recommend. Delicious ice cream, and very nice looking other sweets. Went here on Sunday with my wife and parents, as we were getting ready to head to the airport. It was very good. The staff was nice, and the ice cream was delicious. I got the Waffle cone, which is made in-house, and it was really good. Single dip was plenty for me and the rest of my group, so consider saving yourself the extra scoop cost (it's sort of expensive ice cream to begin with). You can also get a mixed scoop of two flavors, which was nice. I can't write how much gratitude I have for this establishment and the employees. They are very polite, friendly, helpful and has great customer service. Well, I have so much gratitude for one particular staff by the name of Karl B, to whom is a manager at this establishment. I am very grateful for him because of his loyalty, honesty, commitment, concern, and humanity towards his customers. I left my cellphone at the establishment after purchasing some goods. I didn't realize I left my cellphone until I was halfway back to Charlotte. I remembered Kilwin's was the last place I had it out at. I phoned the establishment and they were waiting for someone to call the phone; so they can let them know they left it. So Karl mailed it out on the next business day and he made sure that it was returned back to me in one piece back to Charlotte, NC, after traveling for a weekend getaway to Charleston SC. I can't believe I forgot that we went here. My wife actually told me to get the a milkshake as she heard they were to die for. When I saw the price, I see why-$8.50! While walking around downtown, we went in and man, the smell of homemade fudge makes you feel as if you had died and gone to sugar heaven. They had fudge, cookies, twinkies, pretzels, oreos-you name it, all dipped in chocolate. They had many ice cream flavors from vanilla, chocolate to key lime pie, cake batter, cookie dough, etc. Oh, what to try other than a little of everything. I gave in to temptation and my wifes recommedation and got a key lime pie milkshake. It was heavenly. Perfectly mixed and creamy with little pieces of pie crust mixed in. Even when I ordered it, the clerk said are you sure because with tax it will come to $9.34. Hmm, don't think you should steer the customer away from making a purchase?? Anyway, not nearly worth 9 dollars and change but what hell, I was on vacation. As far as my kids, my oldest got a Key Lime Pie ice cream and sugar cone, my youngest had a pretzel rod dipped in milk chocolate and finally, my middle son got the carmel apple. Well, anywho, as a skinny fat person I can say that the chocolates and fudge here did the trick. We came in to try this place since we wanted various ice cream flavors and we were visiting out of town. We asked the lighter skin African American girl behind the counter wearing a visor. At this point she proceeded to roll her eyes before opening the case and scoop a very large size sample on a small sample spoon. She begin to gossip with the other girls behind the counter and this being our first time she didn't try to assist at all. We asked the other young lady behind the counter can someone else help us out because clearly the other employee did not want to. Once we asked the lighter skinned girl let out a big "HA!" At this point we just wanted to take our business elsewhere because why should we fund a business that employs people like this. I have always loved kilwins. Yes i still order superman and no real superman isn't just rainbow vanilla. It is like frutti tutti rainbow sherbert and vanilla or sweet cream ice cream hooked up and had the best oops there could ever be!!!! It resulted in the birth of an angel. But if this isn't your style try any of the other flavors they have, there are plenty. More "adult" palates can be pleased. Multi sweets are available for purchase. The caramel apples are really good and worth every penny. If you have a dollar to spare try a caramel. Also sample some fudge and buy some! The peanut butter chocolate type is good because you can't really go wrong with that combo. The sea salted caramel chocolate fudge is also a pleasrable experience for the taste buds (at least for me) if you like that salty sweet kind of thing. Drop in after walking down the market. While we enjoyed our ice cream, it's not quite top-shelf the way a site-made creamery might be. But the biggest issue was more that it's a very small shop packed with shelves and products, and it gets noisy and difficult to navigate when it gets busy.
