I'm the first to admit that I spend money without consideration but $26 for 1 large cup and 1 medium cup to go?

I think I've made a habit of stopping in here on random holidays and honestly, no regrets. I first…read morecame on Valentine's Day when my now husband couldn't celebrate because of his situation, so I surprised him with a box of multiple desserts. They were a hit then, and they're still a hit now. This past weekend we picked out 12 different truffles with the intention of giving one to every guest who walked into our Friendsgiving... but the 5 of us who arrived on time ended up doing three rounds of tasting instead. Zero complaints, every single one was amazing in its own unique way. Norman never disappoints.

I recently received a box of chocolates from Norman Love Confections as a surprise from one of my…read moreclose friends. I was definitely caught off guard and the moment I opened the box I knew I was in for a treat... that said... you know what they say... you never know what you're gunna get. I opened the box to find that it included ice packs to ensure the chocolate didn't melt while on the way to my doorstop - much appreciated. Inside was the most beautiful packaging ever. It was branded, bright green, and even included a one sheeter on what each chocolate was. Once it was all unwrapped I was blown away at how incredibly goregous the chocolates were. I stood in awe for a minute and it took me a hot second to decided which one to try first. I'm not going to list out every single one but my favorites were the tiramisu, sea salt caramel truffle, pistachio, tahitian carmel, and strawberry. I made sure treasure each one and I'm still dreaming about them. If you're looking for a lovely gift for someone, or even looking to treat yourself, you won't be disappointed, I promise.

I will always Stan C'est La Vie in Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch. This location is always busy so get…read morethere early if you have your eyes on a specific pastry. Actually, just get there early anyway because the pastry items are fresher/better. There's indoor and outdoor seating. I typically skip trying to park next to it and just go to the garage and walk over. The service is more attentive than a typical French cafe overseas but not as on top of you as a typical place in the US. You can definitely order at the counter in French if you want to and I've had a waiter there flip between English, French, Spanish, and another language (maybe Romanian?) in one order. The sandwiches I've had were all lovely, and had a little side salad that could benefit from a better dressing (they serve an okay vinaigrette though). I've yet to encounter a single bad pastry - the elcairs, mousse cakes, and flaky pastries like chausson pommes are on par with the typical boulangerie/pattisserie in France and don't make me think US adaptation at all. Prices are reasonable.

I got the poularde crepe, wanting something savory. This was solid and tasty. Everyone else got nice little meals as well. I do feel like the portion and the quality is a little lacking for the price. That being said, I don't know that there are better French options in the area. I also got a palmier pastry and I should have gotten a croissant, the palmier tasted a little stale. The locale was adorable, with beautifully tiles tables really setting the scene. Overall, not terrible! Worthwhile if you're really feeling French.
