This is one of my go to places for desserts in the area. Unfortunately, they're not open 24/7 as you'd want. Or it must just be me that has a crazy sweet tooth like that. I recommend the chain for ice cream, chocolates, cookies, candy apples, etc. The pics should make you . Give it a shot if you haven't already. Although there's a Coldstone nearby I'll still choose here that has more variety and not just ice cream.

If you are ever on the water and just want to grab something sweet stop by Kilwins. They have tons of ice cream options and options for my dairy free people. They also have different cone sizes and types. They do not have seating inside but there is plenty of space outside for a nice ambiance to enjoy. The service is great as they have efficient lines and can get lots of orders out. Def will be back this summer.

Came in on a cold day for a cold treat. I got the praline ice cream with a waffle cup. My friend got chocolate with chocolate fudge. The workers were sweet and let us sample their favorites and gave us recommendations. It's a cute shop with candy and other chocolate goodies as well.

Look at all those ice chunks in the ice cream, yuck

I had tickets to a Nats game and was walking the neighbourhood looking for ice cream before going into the stadium, so this place drew me in with their promise of ice cream. It was a clean store and well-situated near the stadium. But it was also empty (on a hot day, right before the game) which should have been a warning sign. There are tons of other stuff like chocolate and non-ice cream things in most of the footprint of the store, the ice cream station is at the back. I was not thrilled with any of the flavours but I had not seen ice cream anywhere else nearby and the Nats didn't seem like a team that would have dippin dots (unlike the Rockies) so I took my chances here. My two berry pie, small, ended up at almost $10. It was the dullest ice cream I had ever had taste-wise (think of water flavoured ice cream) and as I took it for a walk around the block to finish before going into the stadium, I realized why it was so bland. Most of my cup was legitimately just ice. I took some photos, there are ice chunks in my ice cream. How is ice in a two berry pie? That would be a lousy pie if ice is one of the berries. Ice ain't no berry where I come from. For $10 skip this place, their ice cream is bad and they should feel bad selling ice chunks disguised as two berry pie ice cream.

Ordered a chocolate covered pretzel for $2.99 and the pretzel was stale. The service was nice and the chocolate was good which is why i gave it 2 stars.

An overall very good experience at Kilwins on the Washington Nationals baseball stadium grounds. The ordering process is often very quick and efficient. The customer service is OK and the ice cream is always consistent. The ambiance is very appropriate for an ice cream parlor. It is very reminiscent of an old town, but upscale, candy shop and ice cream parlor. Although this is a good location the parking is a nightmare, so unless you are already in the area, on foot, it is almost impossible to drive into this area for an ice cream-only mission without having to double-park or pay for parking in a nearby garage or lot. Also, entry can be a challenge on game day, so consider these circumstances when planning a visit. I will continue to come here when in the area. Give them a try.

Visited Kilwins after walking by it a few times. It's a beautiful decorated ice cream shop. It has a wide array of sweet options. The staff were nice, but a bit slow on making my milkshake. It wasn't crowded and there was no line, so a 10 minute wait for a milkshake was too long in my opinion. The butter pecan milkshake was nothing special, so I didn't bother finishing it.

My photo says it all. This ice cream is so phenomenal that I forgot to take a photo before I devoured it! We got the cookies n cream, salted caramel and the praline, which stole the show!!! 15/10 creaminess. 15/10 flavors. Maybe the best ice cream in DC.....

I love Kilwins. They have amazing sweet items. There is a variety of fudge, chocolates and other treats. This is a great place to buy gifts, especially for special occasions. It is just down the block from Navy Yard metro.

In terms of decorations and everything, it is very clean along with the fact that there are souvenir items such as chocolates, gummy bears, and candies stacked in the display cabinets when you come in. Over at the front counter near the cashier, there's the ice cream selections, and when I went on to try some of them, the sample portions are huge, and so is the ice cream portions themselves too. I got the toasted coconut and the chocolate toasted coconut, and they taste exceptional. I like the fact that the coconut chunks are crunchy, though since the portion is huge compared to other ice cream stores in the area, the ice cream tends to be a bit too sweet the more you eat it. For the price, it is a great value. 8.8/10 for the ice cream, rounded up for the service!

Wow, the ice cream was amazing. I had a scoop of vanilla ice cream; it was so creamy. The service was great, super friendly staff.

Great ice cream, great chocolates! Tried two flavors; pistachio and sea salt caramel, both very good. I also tried the orange peel chocolate and the chocolate covered marshmallows, loved it!

Delicious ice cream but on the expensive side for premium ice cream, even in an expensive city like DC.

Amazing ice cream and especially good ice cream cakes. Never ever been a fan of ice cream cakes but this one "takes the cake." Pun intended.

But then I finished my coffee in the thermos and wanted more for a full-on coffee day. Searching what's the nearest coffee shop, I found this one, which is placed within the Hirshhorn museum. It was a typical museum cafe, with essentially a 'stand' within the lobby of the building, where both coffee shop customers and non-customers lounged out. Of course I had first checked to make sure they had outside seating. Initially nearly no one was there, so it was very quiet--but the nice thing is sitting outside in the courtyard, when one looks up, one sees the perfect circle of the rotund building--I took a nice photograph of the circle with the blue sky and clouds in the middle. I had a regular (large) brewed coffee with milk. Staff was friendly in guiding me to where I could charge (once my laptop started to die after many hours of work outside). There was a charger in the lobby, and I could sit there once one of the few chairs nearby became free. They had bathrooms downstairs, along with a water fountain. Very good place to get work done--all the ingredients were truly present. Even if the mood was not full-on coffee shop style.

I was able to observe the baristas making the drinks and the quality seemed inconsistent among individuals. Milk was poured heavily. I ordered the coquito and it was practically milk instead of the expected Puerto Rican eggnog. The coffee was brewed weakly, so I was dissatisfied by the lack of fragrance and caffeine. It needed more warm spices and a nutty base to justify being one of the most expensive beverages on the menu. I would not visit Dolcezza again, even though it was convenient. I would rather walk nearby for a decent cup of joe.

My friend who used to live in Baltimore told me her and her mom loved Pitango. She is gluten-free and pretty much all of their gelatos are gluten free. The person who was working there was extremely kind and let us try whatever wanted. I tried the dark chocolate and bacio flavors and ended up choosing those as my gelato for the evening. The smallest cup was a regular and came out to able $9 with tip. There was a lot of seating options outside. I'd recommend this spot for a sweet treat.

They had a larger than expected non-dairy selection so I ended up with two such flavors in addition to one more conventional gelato flavor. All of them, including and almond nougat creation that was new to me, a bitter chocolate sorbetto, and a kiwi flavor with little fruit pieces, delivered amply on flavor. The price was more eye-watering than mouthwatering. I suppose it's both a premium location and premium quality, but that was a small cup for over $10. As an occasional indulgence, I do recommend it, and given that it's a Baltimore brand whose original location is near the water, there's something appropriate about it being on the wharf.
