Who doesn't love visiting a chocolate shop while on vacation. The block this store is on had quite a few gems and this one one of them. The staff greeted us despite being busy. We were taking our time to view options and had quite a few questions that the staff did not mind answering for us. We only went for gelato and the case is right when you walk in the door, so I did not look at any chocolates or coffee options. The gelato case had 12 options in it, but no cookies and cream gelato. My friend mentioned it was her favorite and the staff member said they had just made some and grabbed it from the back for us. Amongst our party of three we got the cookies and cream, PB & j, roasted banana and dark chocolate. All of them were very good. I had the banana which was definitely real banana and not artificially flavored or colored bright yellow. I also had the cookies and cream; the cookies were blended in rather than in big chunks. It made the ice cream more chocolatey and the cookie flavor was not missing from any bite! This was my first time here and I have been missing out. They have a huge selection of truffles and they also have so many fun flavors of gelato! During my first trip to Asheville, I discovered many wonderful chocolate tears. I have to say, this one was my favorite. The consistency of their truffles is delicate. Not too dense, not too fluffy. I tried the raspberry and the salted caramel. They were both fantastic. And it's always great to see an artist at work. When in Asheville on a mini-vacation, we stopped at Asheville Chocolate for an afternoon snack/dessert. The shop was air conditioned, had indoor seating, and unlike other dessert shops in Asheville, there was no line outside the door. But don't let that fool you- Asheville Chocolate has amazing gelato. The staff members were patient and let my husband and I sample several flavors before ordering. You can also combine two flavors. I ordered the straciatella (chocolate chip) and dark chocolate, and my husband got the peanut butter and jelly and almond flavors. Surprisingly, the PB&J gelato was our favorite. The dark chocolate was almost like brownie batter, and both of us said that if combined with the PB&J, you'd have a Reese's peanut butter cup in gelato form. I can't speak for the coffee or chocolates, but the gelato here is a great way to beat the heat on a hot summer day. read more

Wandered in here looking for vegan treats and we were very pleasantly surprised. They have multiple vegan truffles and lots of dark chocolate. We ended up getting two scoops of pink grapefruit sorbetto and dark chocolate gelato (made with oat milk), all 100% vegan. The dark chocolate gelato was INCREDIBLE - highly, highly recommend. Stopped by to pick up some dark chocolate lavender cream truffles as a Xmas gift. Discovered a gelato bar with many flavors including pumpkin spice and banana. Sampled both and banana won out. The rich sweet dense 2 scoops of banana was delicious. Didn't have time to explore the shop more but it appears to have a variety of offerings.
