But in this case, I feel it's important to share. I came to this office years ago after moving to Cerritos, right before my wedding, simply looking for a new dentist and a routine cleaning. They had great reviews, which is why I trusted them. From the start, I was told I had extensive issues--multiple cavities needed to be redone and several crowns were recommended. This was surprising to me, as I've consistently gone to the dentist and had never been told I needed such drastic work. Still, I trusted their assessment. The procedures that followed were some of the most painful dental experiences I've ever had. They took hours, felt extremely aggressive, and left me in severe pain afterward--far beyond what I've ever experienced with dental work. I have a high pain tolerance, and this felt very wrong. What was most frustrating was what happened next. I returned multiple times explaining that I couldn't sleep, eat, or function due to the pain. Each time, my concerns were dismissed and attributed to things like not flossing (umm I couldn't floss because of the extreme pain), which didn't make sense given the level of pain I was in. After pushing back repeatedly--especially with my wedding just days away--I insisted something was seriously wrong and requested further evaluation. It turned out I needed three root canals as a result of their prior work. Separately, the crowns that were placed caused ongoing issues. Eating anything with texture would cause gum pain, and I noticed unusual gaps that trapped food. When I brought this up, I was told the only solution was to redo the crowns at additional cost. My crowns also came off. Later, I happened to see a different dentist at the same office (a female provider who may have been temporary), and she immediately noted that the crowns had been placed at an awkward angle. She corrected them, and since then, I've had no pain and no further issues such as crowns falling off. I ultimately switched dentists and have not needed any major dental work since--just routine cleanings every six months, with no recurring problems. Based on what I went through--particularly the aggressive treatment, the outcome, and the dismissal of my concerns--I feel it's important for others to have full context before making a decision.

So NO YOU DON'T DO LABS!! If you lie to me once you don't get a second chance. I will be looking somewhere else for my urgent care needs. Training is key. UPDATE: The response isn't what I was told. It wasn't a miscommunication problem. Your girl, I came in contact with needs training. She is the first person the public comes in contact with. I don't remember her name but I remember her attitude. I ask specifically if you did labs and testing her answer was NO we send it to a third party. Unfortunately, what they lack ends up a longer list. The first MA was unable to get a vial of blood and said someone else would try on my other arm with a straight needed (vs butterfly). She left me without even putting a bandaid on the arm she poked and I had to struggle to put the bandaid on one handed while still maintaining pressure on it. Next MA comes and draws blood and when she's done she yelps I don't have a cotton ball (to put on the vein she just drew out of) and my blood is just pooling while she puts a bandaid on. Luckily I'm well versed enough to know I needed to put pressure on my bandaid. The NP who saw me was new to (per the MA) she really didn't put my mind at ease. Her expertise and knowledge seemed lacking based on the answers to my questions. First thing she asked me was, why are you here and not the ER? I told her my PCP sent me here because she didn't feel it necessitated a ER visit. She wanted me to be evaluated by YOU to assess and in your medical opinion, do I need to be seen further or what course of action next? She swabbed me for flu and covid and I verbally questioned her because I had isolated severe GI symptoms. She said sometimes those present wither GI only. Does it? I don't know, I'm not an MD but I'm also someone who works in healthcare and it didn't feel like the proper procedure. When I asked if she would be ordering any stool samples, I heard through my closed door "do we do that?". Ok, she's new, I'll give her that...but she comes back in and says "if you'd like to have the order for stool testing I'm happy to give that to you." Am I the md or am I the patient? I came here for your professional medical opinion! Do I?! So after I kindly communicated that I am looking to her for her opinion as the expert whether or not my symptoms necessitate an order, she still doesn't quite give me a direct answer! I haven't been to that many urgent cares, but I've come to see a trend that many of the urgent cares that are owned by a company with multiple locations don't have MD's on staff physically there. That said, I've also noticed the trend that many provide sub-par care.

I've been Dr. Kim's patient foreverrr!! I went to him to get…read moremy baby teeth pulled out. Now I'm 25 and I just got an extraction done by him a couple days ago. I actually live pretty far from the area but I make the drive because he's the best! He does all the cleaning and scaling himself, even though he can hire nurses to do it.. simply because he wants to maintain his skill.. He never over charges.. actually, in most cases, I think he undercharges if you're paying out of pocket. He's super friendly. He gives a dad-like vibe. He does/did a lot of volunteer work overseas, giving free dental care to the underprivileged -- just adding in that fact just to show you how nice he is. All of my friends and extended family members love him too. He's the best in the industry.

best dentist ever…read more.. been here for everything....teeth pulled as a child, braces, wisdom teeth yanked out, retainers, mouth guards, fillings every gross and horrible dental experience you can think of however I still like the doctor which mean hes great! he speaks english fluently and all the staff are extremely friendly and calming! only reason its not a 5 is that hes so busy getting emergency or just any appointments can take awhile

As someone who has always had intense fear and trepidation regarding dentist visits...Dr. Shimizu and his team inspire confidence. Dr. Shimizu has an incredibly calm but confident presence. It calms me down considerably. Additionally, my experiences here with his office have been exemplary, and I would recommend him and his office without hesitation. 5 stars isn't nearly enough. Bonus to the receptionist and also to the hygienist Vanessa, who is also incredible and has a very light touch. Had my cleaning today and my teeth have never looked better! Thank you Dr. Shimizu and team!!!! Awesome as always!
