I've been to their location on the Landing many times, and I was very excited when they opened their Edwardsville location. I've only been there once and for some reason I found the experience mediocre. Maybe because it seemed that everything went up in price. This place is new and I was hoping for some other Korean foods but it looks like they focus on fried chicken, kimchi, and veggie bowls. The dining room is spartan and very plain. We got our food to go. A chicken sandwich and a veggie bowl (Bipimbap) with tax came to $27. The sandwiches are $9 each and are about the size of a Chick-fil-A. Similar in quality but here they add pickled vegetables. Lettuce and tomato is $2 extra per sandwich. We were given a sample of kimchi and I will admit it was very good, hence the name of the restaurant. Food was good but a little pricey considering this is a fast causal restaurant. I ordered 2 bowls, 2 drinks, an app (which was almost as expensive as the bowls) for my daughter and I, and then a quesadilla to go for my husband. I added a tip as well since my daughter and I dined in and the total was $72 and some change. Ordering was quick and easy. There are kiosks so you can order yourself whenever you are ready or you can use the QR code that is at your table to order that way. The restaurant is clean and modern. First of all, I was super excited to have this open up on my side of the river! I've been wanting to try it for a while. I went on the website to check out the menu and found that I can place my order online for pick up, so of course I did that! Then when I got there I found out there are many ways to place your order. You can order at a kiosk when you get there or at the front counter. They also have QR codes at each table that you can scan and order from the table as well. I ordered my very first Bibimbap Bowl with beef bulgogi. My order was ready on the shelf when I arrived. I went ahead and just ate it at the restaurant because I was excited to try it. All the ingredients were very fresh and tasty. It came with chopsticks and a fork a a spicy sauce on the side. It was good! We tried out the brand new kimchi guys restaurant this morning, and we were not disappointed! We have been waiting for this place to open their doors for a little while now. I will start with the positive. Service was fast and friendly. The food was just OK and overall, it was too expensive for what you get. Our meal was over $63 for three people. It's not a sit down restaurant, it's more of a Korean fast food. We expected Korean (we love Korean food) and we expected it to casual, but we won't be going back with those prices. Fast casual place with counter or kiosk ordering and food delivered to table. Kitchen is easily viewed from counter when ordering. I had the spicy chicken sandwich with cucumber kimchi. The sauce was good with a nice level of heat that was flavorful without searing your tongue, however the chicken was dry, tough and chewy. The bun was cold which didn't add to the experience. I would have liked a bit more of the cucumber kimchi as it was unfortunately the best part of the sandwich - service was pleasant and friendly. This was the worst restaurant take out that we have ever had. Most of our order wasn't even in the bag and what was there wasn't good. I tried to call but got no response. I wrote a bad review on another site and got a half hearted apology from the owner and an invitation to give them another chance. LoL like that's going to happen. I applaud the bravado of this establishment in charging the prices they are charging for what amounts to a small step above fast food. Hey, to be honest, there's a decent amount of money in this area... and people love trendy things even if they aren't great and are severely overpriced... so maybe it will work. However, I cannot imagine a model where the overall experience isn't terribly different than Mcdonalds, yet they're charging 2-3x. It's okay to pay a little more for service, though, right? Food and service was great! It was a little pricey for lunch. I had the wing combo with a side of kimchi fried rice. I got the spicy original sauce. The wings were a little spicy, a little sweet, with an amazing crunch, and great Korean flavor. Since I have been to the STL Landing location a couple times; I was disappointed that they do not serve whole pieces of chicken at the Edwardsville location. The half bird was my go to in STL. I would highly recommend the Spicy Fried Chicken Taco Combo. Also, it comes with the most amazing fresh chips and kimchi salsa.

My first time visiting this restaurant and we found it to be extremely clean and a staff that was well trained and polite. We were a little confused on what to order because of our own knowledge. I ended up with a four piece combo and my wife a bowl. The food was fresh and well presented and served to our table in about 5-7 minutes after ordering. One negative thing I have to mention is that I feel the restaurant is extremely pricey for your meals. You be the judge, but the taste of the food was wonderful. read more

Chicken tendies cost way too much, you need to cut it!!!! I know others have expressed this but Kimchi Guys in Eville really needs to lower these prices. It's borderline a crime to be charging people $18 up front for a handful of chicken tenders AND doing so through a kiosk. I mean?? Went around 7:30pm last night on a Friday evening. Only two staff were on the floor but apparently more were in the back. The young man at the POS didn't know how to ring our 25% discount. After fidgeting for about 8 min. he went to get the manager who apparently manages the Drunken Fish and Kimchi Guys. As far as she was concerned we did not exist. After paying, we discovered that he had added an additional meal we had not ordered. Again, he didn't know how to process a credit. He went for the manager again. She expressed her obvious discontent at being disturbed a second time and again we might as well have been ghosts. I'm still waiting to see if my credit was processed correctly because no updates registered on my credit card. Our food came out in spurts. I finished my 3 tacos before my wife and daughter's six piece chicken wings came out. They had asked for half honey butter and half spicy Korean but they got all spicy Korean. By this time it was approaching 8:30pm and the comedy of errors was too much to bear. They ate their food despite the mistake because we knew it was hopeless to ask for a correction so close to closing. During this wait, the soda machine was out ice and a guest had to ask for ice. Two additional workers emerged from the back but disappeared again. The manager while processing our credit, clearly perturbed, said she was clocking out. The kitchen was dirty and messy. Metal trays were piled in the return. All in all, it was a horrible experience. For the price point, it was definitely not worth it even with a 25% discount. read more

We were excited for this to come to Edwardsville but unfortunately will not be back. We have been to Landing location and always enjoyed not for sure what happened here. Staff was rude and acted like we should know the menu when we tried asking questions. We both got chicken sandwiches they were over cooked, chicken didn't was half the bun and very expensive. I tried this today with a friend of mine. We will never go back. First thing, it is grossly overpriced and the food we had was not good. We paid $45 for a sandwhich, fries, along with my "monster" rice bowl and 2 drinks. He paid about 16 dollars for a chicken sandwhich with fries and a drink . Then we were charged an additional $3 for a piece of lettuce and a single tomato slice.......so $19.00. The bun was wet and cold. Disgusting. I ordered the " monster" Korean rice bowl. The portion was quite small for the money and the title. The bed of rice was overcooked , tasteless, and extremely mushy. It appeared to have been in a steamtable for quite some time, and it was only 1130am. I got "double proteins." They both amounted to a smaller portion combined. It was basically slop. It was about $19 and then a drink was another $3.00. So...$22.00 wasted. I used the mens room to wash beforehand, and I was irritated that they only had an air dryer and no towels. The door only had a handle with no foot bar or arm bar to open, so I had to get toilet paper in order to not touch the filthy door handle. This is one of my biggest pet peeves in any restaurant. While eating, I watched an employee go in and come out and then right back to work without rewashing. I knew he had just grabbed door handle before returning to work. It wasn't a pleasant thought.
