When I walked into Kim's, I saw how cute and unique the environment is. It is like a garden with leaves, birds and butterflies all over as well as nature sounds playing in the background. The ladies who work there are very nice and helpful. When I told them that I would like my dress pants hemmed, they told me that it would be only $6 and I could pick them up in a couple days. I was pleasantly surprised being that I've recently gotten another pair of dress pants hemmed for $20 elsewhere! When I picked up my pants I realized that they were a bit too long still and they hemmed them a little more and were pleasant about that. Each time I see them, I always feel comfortable and welcome. Fast, helpful and economical - as good as it gets! I called them when I needed a costume sewn from scratch on short notice. I found them on the web, and didn't know what to expect, but was blown away by how friendly and helpful the whole team was. Jennifer at the front desk made me feel right at home getting the design straight, and the sweet and smiling ladies at the sewing machines happily swarmed around to get measurements and brainstorm on how to make the idea a reality. I love Kim's Cleaners. My husband and I have been going there for 5 years now and we love the clean clothes. Its not expensive and since they know us we get a few discounts from time to time. We can drop off clothes and not go back for a month and its ok. Sometimes they even give me white shirts saying they are my husbands (which they are but he forgot to collect them) Since Kim retired about a year ago, his niece Jennifer has been running the place and is doing a great job! If you walk in you will wonder where you are - its a nice ambience with flowers and decorations, more open and with lots of stuff you can buy too. Dropped off a brand new jersey that I needed hemmed. I was worried about having the NFL patch moved and if it the slits on the sides would look the same. I walked in and I was barely greeted. I'm standing there after I put a couple dress shirts on the counter. The lady tells the little girl to come up to help me. (WTF? the girl had to be like 8!) Then she counts the dress shirts and gives me an absurd amount of $30. At first I think Wow, that's really expensive for just laundering some shirts but I don't usually pay for them, the boyfriend does so I figured I would just ask him about it later and figure it out. I finish paying and then one of the ladies comes over to put them in a basket and finds out there is one more that the little girl miscounted. (OMG! That's why you don't let the little girl do this!) Then she's like oh, it'll be $4 and whatever cents more. I was like... well, you already charged me. Then the usual lady who is walks in and asked me if I had a dollar and change. This really irked me because that's the price I thought we usually pay for each shirt. Then the other lady told her it's $4. I was really irritated at this point but they ended up charging the extra on my credit card again. After picking up his shirts, the boyfriend asked about the charges and I guess he figured they had jacked up the prices. Whatever the case, I will not be back. I hate to write negative reviews however this business absolutely deserves it. I took my wedding dress in for some minor alteration and to sew on beats and pearls 5 weeks before the wedding. Owner Jennifer appeared very friendly also informed me designing wedding dresses is her hobby, she quoted me $300. I was comfortable letting her take charge to decorate my wedding dress by providing her the beatings and pearls, also half payment of $150. Long story short, three weeks later when it comes time to see the dress, she informed she needed another week to work on it, now 4 weeks later she once again extended the pickup date saying she had some family emergencies, then another two days because she needed to do some final touches... at first I was thinking ok I do not want her to feel rushed and do a good job, now I began to think she has not yet worked on my dress!! So I said I would like to see the dress regardless of what you have done on it. Guess what, she had maybe 20 pearls sew on at random places and have not used any other beatings I've given her!! Her reason was they don't look elegant?? She spent maybe half hour on my dress in the 4 weeks she had it! I was on fire now my wedding is one week away, my wedding dress is not yet close to ready. I hate to say she has zero work ethics and she is deceiving to her customer, I'm sorry to say she cannot be trusted and i will not be giving her any businesses. read more

I asked for two pairs of pants to be hemmed. At first I asked if they could keep the original hems and was told "yes." Next I told him I needed them same day. He pointed at the back and wasn't sure. I have never been so disappoint and frustrated at any service in my life. DO NOT take your laundry or alterations to this place. I took my pants there for hemming and a coverlet for dry cleaning. I was promised that my pants would be ready by noon time and I even gave them a grace period and arrived around 1ish. To my disappointment, they were barely working on it and I had to wait 20 mins for it. Of course I was frustrated, but I was even more livid when I saw my coverlet. I dropped it off in the original form..all white, soft, shiny, and no stains. They lady (Kim) brought it out and the whole thing was grey, hard, and dull. I asked her why is it grey and she said she didn't know. "let me ask the guy in the back." The lady was sweet (fake) and she said ok, but I had my doubts that they could succeed. First of all, why would you even bring it out in that condition..WTH! I came back a week later to pick it up and she got the grey out, but it was not as white. The material was so hard and the shine had disappeared. I was disappointed and upset by that time. I even brought in a sample of my pillowcase for her to see. I tried to argue with her that I'm not happy and they need to replace it. She assured me that this was the best they could do and they did as instructed therefore they will not replace the damage. Then she tried to explain that they could not 100 % predict the outcome of the material in advanced. I agree, but they should have warned me in the beginning and given me an option if I want to do it or not. If this is a business that she runs daily then she should be able to look at the fabric and let me know ahead of time what to expect. They did no such thing..all they wanted was money...greedy and very unprofessional. Warning!! Don't ever go there. I took my coverlet to another dry cleaner called Charleston Cleaners in Mountain View for a second opinion. The owner was very professional and he immediately gave me the facts on the material. While still my go-to place for alterations since it's so close to my house, I'm a little disappointed that of the 3 times I've brought in jeans, twice they have not been ready on time. I thought the first time was a fluke because the woman who usually does the alterations had her baby, but I showed up today at 2:30 (they were supposed to be ready at 2), and I was told to come back. When I asked when, she said she'd do the alterations now so they'd be ready in 15 minutes. So now I'm sitting on a bench outside the shop waiting for my jeans to be ready. I have been going to this place for years, probably since designer jeans became trendy and since I'm short I've had to get them all hemmed. My experience at Kim's and the quality of work as always been good. My only complaint would be my pants were not always ready on time, but I was ok with it since the work was good as well as the price. I recently took in three pairs of pants. Two designer ones, that were definitely over $100. I wanted original hem on the jeans and regular on the slacks and skinny pants. When I picked up my pants and took them home,I found that the jeans were not original hem and were too short! My skinny pants were also too short! Fortunately, my slacks came out right. I thought my jeans were not were ruined and I definitely did not want to ever wear them looking the way they did. I am very particular about my hemming especially when you pay so much for jeans these days. I took the jeans back more to complain since I thought they couldn't do anything about them. To my surprise they said they could attach the original hem since they kept the pieces for a few days. I was surprised and wasn't sure what I was going to get, but it couldn't hurt for them to try and fix them. I came back and they actually fixed them correctly. I was hoping they could make my other skinny pants that they hemmed to short a little but longer since they offered to fix the other ones for free. She tried to charge me for a mistake that they made. I was pretty shocked. The owner implied that it was my fault that they got measured too short. What ever happened to the customer is always right? These garments are not cheap so when they are altered incorrectly, it's a pretty big deal to me. Based on the attitude I received and poor quality work, I will never come back to this business. It's unfortunate, since I have been coming here for so long. I found another place closer to my house and I should have followed my instinct to go there initially. Stopped by bout 11am for a same day job on a new sport jacket, just needed the sleeves shortened a bit. Service was good, The ladies were nice. They told me come back at 6:30 and it was ready to go. They charged 30 bucks for this and I don't have alot of stuff altered but the price was on par with another place I called so I can't complain. (quick tip, they don't take Amex.) I would never recommend this place to anyone if you need to do alterations!! I had a simple alteration for my dress, all I needed was to shorten the length of my cocktail dress. Because there are three layers of my dress, the Vietnamese woman at the front (by the way, she never smiled) said it would cost $45 and i can only pick it up in a week. I was not in a hurry so I agreed. She said there were also some stains on my dress and I should add a dry cleaning. The total cost was $53. When I went to pick up my dress after one week, I noticed the inner layer of my dress was longer than the dress itself. The woman at the front asked the other woman (I assume that was the tailor) in Vietnamese and said I should come back later this afternoon. They said they would fix it. It has already been one week for me to get my dress altered and without any apology, they asked me to come back again as they had to fix it! I finally went to pick up my dress later that afternoon (they did trim the inner layer again but it was obvious the cut was not straight and it was not professionally done!) and I did not want to argue anymore as I did not have time for them to fix it again! But somehow, I was able to see some stains on my dress. I asked: Did you really do the dry cleaning for me? They just said yes. I went home and tried to hand wash the stains off and it came off very easily. That was surely my first and last time to Kim's Alterations and Dry Cleaning!!! read more

They did a poor job cleaning my wedding dress. When I received it back, the stain I had pointed out to them was still there. They took it back to clean the stain, but I noticed the beads around the area were all discolored afterwards. I thought they didn't use chemicals, but they do. Don't be misled by the "Green Cleaner" sign on the front. read more

They do a great job for the price. The prices are cheap btw compared to most other shops in the Palo Alto and MV area. I had a pair of pants hemmed for $6 and they dry cleaned my winter coat for $8. This is about half of what other places charge. I can't speak to the speed though because I've always dropped off things about a week or two before I actually want to pick them up. They're always ready for pick up when I go in about two or three days after my garments are supposed to be ready, so speed hasn't been an issue for me. read more

I left my husband's clothes at this place to get dry cleaned last week. This week i picked it up and at home we realized that a pair of pants is mussing. When we called and asked them to look for the pants and return it to us, the lady on the phone said they can't find them. Also, their prices are quite weird: my husband and I get charged differently... they do not have prices posted anywhere... just write them on the piece of paper for you... i am giving them 2 stars because they do clean well, but i am pissed about them losing my husband's pants! Super fast turn around for a bridesmaid dress. My previous experience with a small alterations business had me waiting for a month, while Kim's Alterations had my dress done less than 24 hours later. First, about a year ago, I brought both mine and my daughters dresses in for alterations for a wedding we we both in. I waited until the last minute, and couldn't find anyone willing to do a rush until, KIM'S so kindly saved us! They took our dresses in and had them done within just hours. The work was beautiful and both our dresses fit perfectly. The second visit, I brought in my stained yellowing wedding dress that had been hanging in my closet for the last 10 years. Kim pulled through for me in a big way! Needed to have alterations done to my daughter's TKD competition uniform, but couldn't get it dropped off since I was sick. An hour and a half before we had to leave for a tournament out of town, I finally made it in to Kim's shop. Showed her that I needed both sleeves and pant legs shortened. We noticed that the top was also dirty on the sleeve. She asked when I needed it and I told her in an hour. Not only did she have it done, but the alterations were perfect, with the original stitching the uniform had. AND she told me that she also saw that the top was dirty in more places than the sleeve, so she went ahead and cleaned the top for me. I really like this place. The ladies are very friendly even though many do not understand English well. They do a good job with all my hemming and dry cleaning. I like that they have a changing room so that they pin my hem right there instead of me having to tell them to cut off 3 inches or something. After searching for a New Years Eve dress with a budget of $80 I finally gave up and decided to look in my closet. I dug deep and pulled out a few bridesmaid dresses that I felt were still in style. I had recently watched the movie Sex and the City and remembered the beginning scene of Carrie walking in a white dress with a huge flower on her shoulder. That same night I saw The Sound of Music and saw a similar older style on a formal dress worn by the Baroness. So I decided to show these pictures to Jennyfer and she amazingly created the flower with the extra material they had cut off to shorten the dress. We had a small wardrobe malfunction after she tried to pin the flower, but I suggested they put a strap and they immediately contrapted an elastic strap covered by the same material. Her design was unique, artistic, and beautiful. I gave Jennyfer my idea and she created a dress that will never by found anywhere. The best part was that it was done in less than 24 hours! Earlier I wasn't sure of if I wanted get my Linen shirt dry cleaned or just regular wash. I bought two pairs of dressy pants on sale (way on sale) and they fit poorly (as most dress pants off the rack do :) ) I had never been here, but the lady came out, made the marks (I needed the waists brought in and the legs hemmed) and a week later, I got them back and they are PERFECT. They fit absolutely perfect, the hem length is perfect - everything about how they fit now is spot-on! (she even did the invisible hem!)
