Kim's beef pho is perfect for a cold, rainy day and the deep-fried spring rolls are a perfect pair. I also recommend trying the lemongrass chicken. One star lost because the quality of service there is inconsistent at times which can ruin a meal. read more

One of the best dining experiences I've had in memory. The food, service and ambience are incredible. I cannot say enough how beautiful and enjoyable the restaurant is. Pleasant staff took care of us while we ate. Do yourself a favor and get a few orders of the shrimp triangles as a starter. The beef Pad See Ew was delicious, as was the Pho Kim. Also, forgive the obscure reference, but if you are by some chance a fan of music heard on Hearts of Space, the iTunes jazz streaming service they pipe in will make you smile. It's just jazz but there is something ethereal to it. I've clearly given this place too much thought but that's because it's one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at. Pleasant, modern and clean atmosphere and very friendly staff. The over-abundant menu selection was a surprise; while my brother welcomed the chance to try something other than soup, it gave me pause about the quality of Pho I'd get. Can't do everything well, right? Boy, was I wrong. We started with salt and pepper shrimp and squid as appetizers. Both items were sweet, tender and clearly fresh. They were very lightly coated with flour before cooking and neither were overlooked. Excellent start. As it was our first time here we took baby steps. My brother ordered spicy beef with wide noodles; I ordered Pho with sliced eye of round. His was tasty and abundant -- so much so that he couldn't finish half the serving. Noodles were cooked well and sufficiently chewy, with the beef succulent and vegetables in a thin yet hot & non-greasy sauce. Close to fine Szechuan-like cooking. The Pho broth was clean (not oily) yet delicately flavorful. While it wasn't completely clear I attribute that to the rice noodle starch as it cooked in the broth. It was served really hot -- perfect temperature in fact -- and had excellent layers of flavor and spice with a nice star anise finish. No one element overpowered the others. But the eye of round was fantastic! For a moment I thought I had been given brisket as the meat was so tender, flavorful, juicy and yet wonderfully thin cut. Wow! Even the jalapeños that were served were excellent. Fresh, clean and moderately hot. The whole entree was so good I never bothered with sriracha for the meat or plum sauce for the jalapeños. Little things were great too: bean sprouts were super fresh, the basil stalks were crisp and green throughout, and lime was plentiful and juicy. It's worth mentioning because if a restaurant pays attention to the quality of little things, you can be sure it will get the big things right. Bun Bo Hue is completely on point thou it's definitely not able to compete with the one I had in the alley near my house in Hanoi. It's incredible how a simple dish can conjure up nostalgia whenever I had it. One more thing thou, this restaurant is understaffed and that has got to change. My boyfriend and I are regulars at this place. We normally come in a couple times a month for pho. Food and customer service has always been very good until today. We went to Kim's Pho today in the afternoon for pho, everything was fine until we sat down. The first waitress that was serving us was great, she was nice and friendly and got us what we want to drink. While this lady was taking our order, another lady said something to her in Vietnamese and she walked away. This lady in long ponytail stood in front of out table and pointed her pen at my boyfriend and said " you order". We were shocked by her attitude but just thought that she might be having a bad day so we went on ordering. We order the Vietnamese Wings and Pho. After we ordered I was still holding the menu and this lady waved one of her hands in the air telling me to move my hand while she pulled the menu away from me with the other. I was kinda mad then but we decided that she is probably having a bad day so we are going to stay and eat. Just as we thought she was just not happy at everybody, a Caucasian lady walked in and this lady was super nice to her.(My boyfriend and I are both Asian)I was very upset by how we were treated at this point but since we are halfway through our meal we decided to just finish our meal. When this lady brought us our pho, we were still eating our wings. She put down the bowl of pho pushed the bowl directly in front of me regardless of how my plate of wings was there. I finished my pho before my boyfriend did so I was just sitting there waiting. The moment I finished, this lady walked up to us and said "you finish, now check" and started collecting our bowls. My boyfriend and I were so mad then, we just took our check and walked up to the cashier. Since we know that they offer student discounts, my boyfriend give them his Id and the credit card at the same time. This lady took his credit card and swiped it without giving us the discount. When we ask why she didn't give us the discount, she said we need to give it to her before she swipes the card. When we explained the we gave it to her at the same time she said that she need my Id as well because she need one Id per check. We had only 1 check. My boyfriend and I were so mad at this point we just signed the receipt and left. Overall the food is pretty good but costumer service was nonexistent. We have been their costumer since Pho Deluxe and we never had any problem until today. Other waiter and waitress are nice but this lady was just very very rude. Waiting for my son to finish sports across street and craving Pho on a chilly day. Because I was in sweat pants and didn't want to embarrass the owners, I sat at the bar. Had large steak Pho and spring rolls. Rolls were tasty but too greasy. I asked for less noddles and more broth, but ending up getting almost all noodles. The broth was very tasty and I wanted more. The condiment platter wasn't as fresh and impressive as I'm accustomed to,but it was overall very tasty, nice service and inexpensive. Easy parking and I liked the ambiance better than most. I've been going to this restaurant for years, back when it was still pho deluxe. With the ownership switch, the quality of the food has gone down significantly, whilst the price has gone up. Their food is good, but I was very disappointed with their service twice, and we would not go there again. When we had lunch there, some of our friends did not order a meal, which I did not know when I made the reservation. When I paid for my food, they asked, "Are you paying for those who did not eat?" I was confused. Instead of telling us in the beginning that they would charge $3 for each person, they told me after everyone left! I know I was not obligated to pay legally, but I felt bad for them, so I paid. I totally understand their point, but HOW they communicated was very unprofessional. If they communicated it when we ordered, those who did not order a meal could order drinks or small dishes. Also, another time we went there, one of my friends noticed that her food was greasy. She was not complaining, saying, "I just want to let you know..." but the owner got very defensive and blamed her for not ordering in the right way... Good food, BAD service. We'd love to go back for the food but just by thinking about the rude attitude it keeps me from returning. This is especially true for the long pony tail waitress that was mentioned in other reviews. My 2 year old vomited in the restaurant because he was sick, we felt sorry for the mess but then the waitress came looking mad and asked "What's this?" in stead of show a little sympathy for the baby or help cleaning. We decided to leave and pack the food. At the end, she handed me the take out, I said thank you but she just keep staring at me as if I did something unforgivable. The ambiance of this place is a little classier than your average pho restaurant. This is my favorite place for pho. Not only is the broth flavorful, but they offer filet mignon in their pho! Great quality meat with flavorful broth = A+. It's a bit pricey for pho considering its around 14$ but I could care less about the as long as they continue to serve this here. I tried the soft pork and shrimp rolls - they were pretty good. Another amazing dish at this establishment is their honey butter chicken wings - oh. My. Lawwwwd. The wings were as crispy as can be with a hint of buttery goodness. Don't forget to drench it in the sauce before consuming it. The only reason this place is getting one star off is because the service was no Bueno most of the times I've been here; but that's not gonna stop me from coming back for the food. read more

What happened to Pho Deluxe? It used to be my go-to pho stop in the area. I'll try to break my overall rating down to smaller details. Interior: 4 out of 5 - the place looks so much better now compared to how Pho Deluxe was. they even have a legit bar now. You can clearly see that they put effort and tried to make it look nice. The only problem is, the high chairs near the bar are a bit uncomfortable after a while. Also, there's not much space to move around. the chairs from one table to another are literally bumping to each other. Service: 1 out of 5 - the service back in Pho Deluxe wasn't that great, but at least it wasn't terrible. Now, when we got in, they just pointed to the clump of tables near the bar like we know which one they're pointing at. As soon as we got seated, they immediately brought the water, which was +1 on my book. Then the server just stood there and said "I'm waiting for you" LOL. Usually, servers would be like, "Are you guys ready to order, or do you need more time?" I'm not sure if that's just how he speaks, or maybe he was rushing us because we came in an hour before closing time. So we ordered appetizers and Pho. My friend emphasized to the server that we're ordering appetizers because he (we) hate(s) it when appetizers come with our main order. But guess what though? Yes, the appetizers came with the Pho. I sometimes wonder why restaurants even bother bringing the appetizers out if it comes out that late. Another thing is, we didn't get any utensils. I had to ask for that spoon. We didn't get any napkins either. I had to steal the ones at the other table. Did I mention that our server doesn't know what personal space is? Yeah, his elbow was rubbing my shoulders whenever he comes to our table to get the menus or clean up the bowls/plates. His legs were rubbing on my knees too, like damn I didn't know we have that kind of relationship. At least buy me dinner first, right? After we finished eating, we waited for like at least 10 minutes to get rang up. It probably took longer, but I forgot how long exactly. Nobody else was there by the way, it was my table and a table with couple. Food: 1 out of 5 - this is why I really miss Pho Deluxe. I feel like the Pho changed. The broth didn't have that flavor that good Phos do. The noodles seemed like they were in the broth for too long that the texture seems soggy/bloated. There's not much meat in it anymore too. The overall taste is just average at best. The calamari didn't have any sauce and the portion is pretty small for the price. The wings came out lukewarm like they sat there with the pho for a while. So overall, I would pick the quality of food over anything else when it comes to Pho. I don't care if I have to sit in a plastic chair that's about to break. I don't care if your service isn't that great. When I go to a Pho restaurant, I wan't good authentic taste of Pho. It seems like Kim's Pho + Bar is trying so hard to cater for the "americans" to expand its demographic that it forgot what's important: THE QUALITY OF YOUR PHOOD. read more

Meh. The service was awful - super slow and one of our servers kept muttering under his breath so we couldn't hear him. Then he would disappear and ignore our table for what seemed like forever, even though the restaurant was virtually empty. Pho should be a pretty quick experience, but we were inside Kim's for well over an hour. On top of the slow speed, the pho broth was just missing something -- it had quite a bit of star anise, I believe, but just not much depth of meaty flavor. And their spring and summer rolls and wing appetizers were acceptable, but just not that flavorful either. I used to go here all the time before the owner changed. Pho Deluxe used to be here and it is a lot better. I ask for no cilantro in my pho and guess what? There's cilantro! When I send it back, they pick out the main area the cilantro was at and bring it right back out. I ask for a refill and it takes them 10 minutes for the water to come out. The service here is ridiculously slow and terrible. Never returning again. read more
