Fantastic smog check place. Owner is friendly and no nonsense. Failed the first time but he gave us a discount and told us what needed to be done before attempting to retest. Did as prescribed and drove for an hour to clear whatever sensors or systems needed to be cleared, came back, retested and passed! Would definitely come back here. Definitely recommend. Honestly, this is a very "no frills" place to come if you're just looking for a simple smog test. I'm not sure if appointments are taken but be prepared to come with a book or something to do in any case. Fun fact: I didn't pass the first time! To be clear, it's not that I didn't pass exactly but just that some of my sensors weren't ready. I was a bit sad and worried but Mr.Kim (I think?) was kind enough to tell me what to do to pass the next time. I followed his instructions and came a few weeks later and passed! Just in time for the holidays :) I'll come back next time I need a test... super chill spot for sure! read more

In a need for a smog check, I came here on a Saturday afternoon at 11:20 AM, there were a couple people here already so I waited about 25 minutes give or take. Make sure you bring the piece of paper that says you need "smog certification required at a STAR station." Around 11:50 AM, he started to do his thing on my car. He finished at 12:05 PM. At the end of the service, he hands you one paper entailing the details if you passed the tests or not. Total it costed around $50, but if you leave a yelp or google review it costs $45. I have a 4 car sedan. I'm not experienced with determining the cost-service efficacy for smog checks, so take what you will out of this. Will I come here again? Most likely when I need a smog check since my dad and family comes here. -Tony read more

Went to get my car smog check done and had called before going. The car had not passed 1 month earlier due to monitors not being ready. They were finally completed and I go to get it smog checked. The guy working there states it will pass smog but he can't do it there. He told me to take it somewhere else. I'm not sure if it having not passed before has any impact on his shop but he didn't want to do it. He then refers me to another shop with no clear explanation as to why he didn't want to smog the car. I just didn't like the fact he gave no explanation as to why he wouldn't do the test. The location does have convenient hours but just didn't like that I wasted my time driving there with 0 explanation as to why the car xouldnt be smoged. I did go somewhere else where the car passed with no issues. read more

The gentleman on the phone said the transmission fluid is for life unless I'm towing or carrying heavy loads. When I questioned why I see that it's recommended online he says that dealers will recommend this service all day but if you check the Toyota maintenance manual it says you don't need it. Man! I haven't even been to this shop yet and I'm already getting a good feeling about this place. It's a bit more expensive for an oil change than other places that have quoted me, but I like that they use factory parts including Toyota oil filters. Stay tuned.... 6/29/26 - Brought my Sienna in for an oil change + complimentary 30-point inspection (since it was my first time there). Jared took the van for a spin, brought it back and lifted it up. They found a little oil seepage coming out of the transfer case. I let them know that I did see a transfer case drain/fill on the CarFax report before I bought it. Jared thinks they just didn't torque it properly so they were going to retorque and clean up around the area and keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario, they would need to order a new drain plug gasket and I'd have to come back to get it replaced. Thankfully, the drain plug just needed to get tightened. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour just as Robert promised. Thanks The Toy Shop team!! Pro Tip: they are booked out at least a week in advanced so make your appointment ASAP!

When I ran the quote through ChatGPT I was told they were charging me dealership pricing for an independent mechanic for that type of work in LA. So I brought the truck here to Speedway where I had Minor worked done before and had a good experience. They told me my bearings need to be replaced and did the work for lesson than a quarter of the price I was quoted at the other mechanic. Work was finished in a day and the truck has been running perfectly since then. Had I spent to 4800 at the place it wouldn't have even resolved the issue, which means I would've had to come out of the pocket even more after the initial work was done. Obviously a truck of this age is gonna have some problems and when they inevitably happen again I will be back here at Speedway to take care of them. When I did, a different guy answered the phone and spoke to me like I was a debt collector harassing him. When I answered his question about who I was looking for and our previous conversation, he rudely interrupted me mid-sentence, blurting out, "OKAY, WELL I HAVE ANOTHER CALL SO..." and literally just trailed off into silence. I just hung up. Why would I ever let people who treat human beings this way get anywhere near my vehicle? How does a business survive operating like this? I had a $12,000 job ready to go for tire replacements, a suspension overhaul, front bumper replacement, roof rack and heavy maintenance work. Instead of securing a massive project, these clowns let their egos and hostile communication skills ruin the transaction. Out of principle, take your hard-earned money and your rig somewhere else. Go to a shop where people actually practice basic kindness, respect, and professional communication. The way this entire crew came across was like a bunch of snakes. Save yourself the headache and go to another off-road establishment. And know that this place charges an hourly labor rate of $275 an hour.

I've been going to Kim's for years now and have always received excellent customer service. I never have to wait and they're very time efficient. I have always passed until yesterday when I brought my 90 year old parents Mercedes to get smogged. They don't drive it often, very common with Mercedes owners, so the catalytic converter portion of the smog test failed. They told me to Google drive cycle and follow the steps to reset my catalytic converter sensor. This worked and it passed the smog test this morning! A friend recommended Kim's to me years ago, saying everyone she's known has always passed. I would recommend Kim's to anyone who'll listen. read more

They are open on sunday~~~ Thank God they open on weekend. I visited Kim's smog check on Sunday afternoon . It is clean and fast service. Also they charged $50 .
