I needed to get a smog check and just Googled "smog check places near me." This place popped up with the highest ratings and for good reason. The service was courteous and quick. I was in and out in about 20 minutes (it would have been faster except there was one person in front of me). The price was really fair. They were also bilingual (English and Korean). Quick and easy. $50, which seems to be the standard cost for this sort of thing. I could find some cheaper in the depths of the Valley, but I'm not doing all that to save $5. Open on Sundays. Just go here and stop wasting your time. They don't do the no pass/no pay thing, but will discount retesting if you fail. I think it's $30 to retest. read more

The gentleman on the phone said the transmission fluid is for life unless I'm towing or carrying heavy loads. When I questioned why I see that it's recommended online he says that dealers will recommend this service all day but if you check the Toyota maintenance manual it says you don't need it. Man! I haven't even been to this shop yet and I'm already getting a good feeling about this place. It's a bit more expensive for an oil change than other places that have quoted me, but I like that they use factory parts including Toyota oil filters. Stay tuned.... 6/29/26 - Brought my Sienna in for an oil change + complimentary 30-point inspection (since it was my first time there). Jared took the van for a spin, brought it back and lifted it up. They found a little oil seepage coming out of the transfer case. I let them know that I did see a transfer case drain/fill on the CarFax report before I bought it. Jared thinks they just didn't torque it properly so they were going to retorque and clean up around the area and keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario, they would need to order a new drain plug gasket and I'd have to come back to get it replaced. Thankfully, the drain plug just needed to get tightened. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour just as Robert promised. Thanks The Toy Shop team!! Pro Tip: they are booked out at least a week in advanced so make your appointment ASAP!

When I ran the quote through ChatGPT I was told they were charging me dealership pricing for an independent mechanic for that type of work in LA. So I brought the truck here to Speedway where I had Minor worked done before and had a good experience. They told me my bearings need to be replaced and did the work for lesson than a quarter of the price I was quoted at the other mechanic. Work was finished in a day and the truck has been running perfectly since then. Had I spent to 4800 at the place it wouldn't have even resolved the issue, which means I would've had to come out of the pocket even more after the initial work was done. Obviously a truck of this age is gonna have some problems and when they inevitably happen again I will be back here at Speedway to take care of them. Highly recommend this place for integrity, quality, efficiency and fair pricing.

Anyone who builds off-road vehicles knows that finding the right shop is a niche and personal choice--you want a team you can trust with your rig. I had originally received a quote from a shop in San Diego, but when I realized there was a shop right here in my own backyard in Burbank, I wanted to try and keep my business local. I reached out and sent them the itemized list of work from the previous shop to see what they could do. What followed was some of the most unprofessional behavior I've ever experienced. The guy who called me back came out swinging, practically yelling at me over the phone. He was incredibly defensive, snapping, "Just so you know, we are $275 an hour for labor, and I see you cut this invoice out from someone else's estimate. We are more expensive than them." He sounded deeply insecure and visibly furious that a customer would dare to shop around for the best fit. He later left a voicemail asking me to call back. When I did, a different guy answered the phone and spoke to me like I was a debt collector harassing him. When I answered his question about who I was looking for and our previous conversation, he rudely interrupted me mid-sentence, blurting out, "OKAY, WELL I HAVE ANOTHER CALL SO..." and literally just trailed off into silence. I just hung up. Why would I ever let people who treat human beings this way get anywhere near my vehicle? How does a business survive operating like this? I had a $12,000 job ready to go for tire replacements, a suspension overhaul, front bumper replacement, roof rack and heavy maintenance work. Instead of securing a massive project, these clowns let their egos and hostile communication skills ruin the transaction. Out of principle, take your hard-earned money and your rig somewhere else. Go to a shop where people actually practice basic kindness, respect, and professional communication. The way this entire crew came across was like a bunch of snakes. Save yourself the headache and go to another off-road establishment. And know that this place charges an hourly labor rate of $275 an hour.

I've been going to Kim's for years now and have always received excellent customer service. I never have to wait and they're very time efficient. I have always passed until yesterday when I brought my 90 year old parents Mercedes to get smogged. They don't drive it often, very common with Mercedes owners, so the catalytic converter portion of the smog test failed. They told me to Google drive cycle and follow the steps to reset my catalytic converter sensor. This worked and it passed the smog test this morning! A friend recommended Kim's to me years ago, saying everyone she's known has always passed. I would recommend Kim's to anyone who'll listen. read more

I brought in my old school 1995 Lexus ES300 that I purchased month ago, needed to do a smog check in order for me to do a name change at the DMV, however, I was recommended by my mechanic that this place is legit, very professional when time of my smog check inspectionon. Guy is not friendly. I had check engine light on and off and made sure w/ my mechanic before i went there. Unfortunately, He immediately sent the failed result until he made sure i will have to come back to him paying $20 more. Though this place is small but it is fully neat and clean. The staffs here are friendly so I always come for my car smog changed or oil changed while it (my car) needs. They take the solid servicing charges that are why I come here for any type of my car related necessaries. How blessing service it is! read more

They are open on sunday~~~ Thank God they open on weekend. I visited Kim's smog check on Sunday afternoon . It is clean and fast service. Also they charged $50 . I tried other place couple years ago got charged $60.. They open 10am -3pm on Sunday so good for people working hard on weekday. read more

Love Mr. Kim's! No frills and super nice man who has a clean shop with little waiting area in his shop with fans and chairs for you to wait while he conducts the smog checks. He's very efficient for a one-man business. I've never had to wait longer than 5 minutes. Highly recommend! read more
