This place has been on my list and I'm so glad I got to try it out! Lots of vegan options or the ability to make vegan and don't pass up the dessert. Everything I tried was delicious! This place is very popular and busy so you may have to wait; but the weight is worth it!

    Massaman Curry - Chicken

TLDR; yes, the food is worth the wait. Came in on a Saturday afternoon around 2:30p. Greeted and seated promptly. It was a nice little lunch rush, QR codes at the tables for the menu, very open, clean and modern interior. Prices: It's California, and it's quality. You can do with that information what you will. Food Items: Chicken - Massaman Curry: 4.8/5 - Awesome flavor profile. Chicken was tender and you get a drum and a thigh. A few potatoes, a few peanuts, a few onions. Wish I had a bit more of the curry to use the rest of the rice. Highly recommended though. Chicken - Pad Thai: 4.7/5 - Great portion size given the quality. Friend seemed to enjoy it. Pork Belly - Ga Prao: 4.8/5 - nice presentation. Great favor. Friend enjoyed it. Service was pleasant, and yes, there is a wait. It was well worth it, good food takes a min. Overall, yes, go, support, eat. I will be back to try more items.

Came here for dinner with the wife. She had been here before and said the food was really good. She doesn't really eat Thai food but this place is really yummy. I arrived and there was street parkin and we found a spot pretty close to the restaurant. It was free parking for 90 minutes I think which is great. There are quite a few good looking restaurants on this block that I might try later. We didn't have a reservation but there were only a couple of tables taken so we were told to take any seat we wanted and sat down right away. The place is an average size. Not too big at all. They have a bar area with stools and the main dinning room. I didn't go to the back by the bathrooms so i don't know if they had tables down that way. The server brought us water and I started to look at what I could eat. There was a little QR code on top of each table. My wife and I had decided on some things but also asked the server for recommendations. He said we did pick out a lot of the good items and suggested more. I started with a Thai green tea and it was very tasty but not much in the glass with the ton of ice in it. The regular unsweetened iced tea is the only thing refillable without paying more. I tried the corn fritters and they were very good. I always liked my grandpa's so I gave it a try here and didn't go wrong. The Thai curry puffs were just ok. I thought they were too thick and a little dry. The wife liked them. I wouldn't get them again. I wanted to try the soft shell crab with curry sauce but I hate soft shell crab. I don't like the eating the shell. The server said that he could just use crab. I had to get it. OMG the flavor was great but a little spicy kick to it. The wife also loved the flavor but the spice was too much for her, So it was all me , yeah. I took the spice. totally recommend this dish and so did the server. The last dish was the egg wrapped pad Thai and it was really good. This place was really nice and we had a great time here. The service was great and the food too. We will be back again to try more.

Downtown Sacramento has a lot of new eateries, and of course it's my moral imperative to try them! I was excited to try this family owned Thai restaurant. It's downtown so parking isn't going to be easy, but we do what we do, right?! The place was packed, and I was super excited because with so many people, I figured the food would be tasty! I'll save you the long read and tell you that the food was just mediocre and expensive for what we received. We start our meal with the Thai barbecue chicken skewers ( satay) and the crab wontons. The chicken was underwhelming, lacked flavor, and taste tasted like cardboard. The wontons on the other hand, were pretty tasty, despite having much crab and mostly cream cheese filling. We both ordered Thai tea, and it definitely tasted smoother than most, but lacked the rich flavor. We thought we would try the Thai ravioli because it sounded interesting. It wasn't. The meat on the inside of the noodles was overcooked and I was expecting something light and fluffy and this was more hard and dense, and not flavorful at all. The sauce that accompanied it wasn't much better. The rest of the meal kind of went downhill beyond that. Including dessert, which was the mango sticky rice. The mango itself was OK but definitely not as sweet as it should have been. The sticky rice tasted like rice with sugar. I've had this dessert numerous times, and this definitely was missing. It's mark. Had we ordered less than my mindset would be that maybe we needed to try some other dishes, but at the end of the day, most if not all dishes at a specialized restaurant should be good, and this just wasn't.

Parking can be a mess here, be careful. Seating was immediate and the resturaunt was nicely put together when it came to the decor. Service was great, staff were very attentive. Khao Soi: 2.5, the curry tasted pre packaged and lacked a lot of the senses that Khao soi usually brings. The spices were there but didn't mesh well. Yellow curry: like the khao soi, the curry definitely tasted prepackaged. 2/5

Great Thai spot in Sac... Boyfriend has been talking about this spot for a minute, and we finally went tonight. We got the eggplant salad, I got the masaman curry, and he got the ga prao. Eggplant salad was a good start, and my masaman curry was flavorful with a perfect spice level. Both proteins, so the chicken in mine and pork belly in the ga prao, were cooked great. Service was also good. Water cups were never close to empty, and the music playing were jams. Will be back.

Kin Thai caught my eye while strolling Downtown Sacramento. It's warm interior and welcoming ambiance pulled me into the restaurant. The restaurant wasn't very busy, even at noontime. We ordered the Chicken Curry Puffs, Tom Yum noodle soup, Yellow Curry with beef, and Mango sticky rice. The chicken curry puffs were good, but they were a bit on the drier side. I was hoping to see more chicken inside, but it was mostly potatoes. Great flavor though. The Tom Yum noodle soup was CRAZYYY spicy in my opinion. There is a thick layer of chili oil at the top. Great for spice-lovers, but not my cup of tea. There are many ingredients in the noodle soup, not mainly noodles and soup. The Yellow Curry with beef is my personal favorite! Like the Tom Yum noodle soup, there are various ingredients in the curry, like green beans, eggplant, onion, and zucchini (i'm pretty sure). Loved loved loved that crispy garlic on top. Added a playful crunch! The Mango Sticky rice was great! The mangoes aren't very sweet, (they're probably not in season), but the rice was nice and warm. I also want to add that the rice was a little bit on the drier side. Finished the whole plate! By the way, even with two people eating, their tips suggestions are calculated based on with sales tax included.

    Hard Kombucha

Came here on a Monday after work because my friend kept hyping up their crab fried rice. There is street parking but you do have to pay. They don't really serve alcohol besides kombucha, so we did a little pre game outside before heading in. We were greeted right away and sat at the bar style seating. Service was smooth and the food came out pretty quick. The crab fried rice was really good and had actual large pieces of crab, not just small flakes. Definitely the highlight. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside, tender inside, and not dry at all. It came with a tangy, sauce that made it even better. The only thing I didn't love was the rice that came with it since it had a curry flavor and I'm not really a fan. The vibe was nice, low lighting, cozy, and not too loud. Busy for a Monday but still comfortable. Only reason for 4 stars is the limited drink options, but overall I'd come back mainly for that crab fried rice.

Dined at Kin Thai for a colleagues going away lunch and what a lovely time we had. We started the afternoon off with the chive cakes and egg rolls. Both were delicious but the chive cakes were the star! For entree I enjoyed the massaman curry with rice and a side of roti. I am a curry girl but the massaman was new for me. The cinnamon, clove, cardamom elements proudly stood out. Not too thick not too thin, the texture was perfect and the roti was a wonderful compliment. Shout out to our server Chris who recommended the roti with curry. I love Thai iced tea but had never tried Thai iced green tea..I am a new fan! Kristen also helped service our table. I'm looking forward to returning with my hubby. All of the guests enjoyed their food so I've got more dishes to try. Thank you, Chris and Kristen!

    Mee Pad See Aew
    Anh T.

On a weekend afternoon, Kin Thai was crowded during their lunch hours. My friends and I ordered off of their diverse menu and received our food within 20 minutes. I tried their Mee Pad See Aew. The noodles were thin and chewy, contrary to the wide noodles that I also love. There was a good proportion of chicken to noodles and veggies. It was savory with a touch of sweetness, and the portion size was filling and I had enough for leftovers. As we finished, we saw another table with a delicious-looking Thai Tea, and this is something that we would love to try next time!

update: For 2026, Kin Thai did not keep their Michelin Bib Gourmand. I've been here a few times this year and I can taste why. The food is still good, but inconsistent. I almost always order my favorites and sometimes, the dish is a little off. For instance, the egg pad Thai, the shrimp was a little undercooked. The empanada was a little dry. The service and staff are still really nice. I will probably still come here for some Thai food. I think this place is one of the better Thai places in Sac.

Decided to go here on a whim and did not leave disappointed!! My favorite is usually green thai curry but I especially loveee the pad thai here. Not too salty, noodles are perfect texture, and perfect portion. I did wish they had bamboo in their curry as thats my favorite, just a personal preference! The calamari is pretty good as well although my friend did not like it because the calamari itself had no flavor. I personally like it because of the crunchy breading and juicy squid texture. Lastly, the thai green tea was superrr refreshing!!! Not too sweet and thick compared to when I had it at other places. We came on a Sunday holiday so parking wasn't too hard to find. Keep in mind it is street parking. Service was okay but other than that I would definitely come back to try their other dishes!

    Ga prao w/ ground chicken
    Ayro P.

Overall, this place serves good-quality food and has great presentation, but I'm not a huge fan of the restaurant's layout. I'm willing to come back to try it again since I only tried one dish. This place had a Michelin sticker on the door (not a star), so that raised my standards a bit before even walking in. It was dinner time on a Thursday night, and the place was full, with only a party of six ahead of us. They took our name down to call us when our table was ready, but it only took about five minutes before we were seated. The fact that most, if not all, the seats were benches with no back support is what's holding me back from giving this place five stars. In addition to having nothing to lean on, it was raining outside, so we just had to stack our coats and bags next to us up against the wall. While our party of four still had space, it's an inconvenience that I don't experience often at other restaurants. Aside from this, the table was clean, and the staff was quick to take our order. I only got the Ga Prao since I'm trying to stick to my diet better this year. The ground chicken wasn't anything to rave about, but it's ground chicken, so I shouldn't expect anything more, really. Nonetheless, I love a good fried egg on top, and I appreciated the crispy ring this one had for sure. Also, the basil garlic-chili sauce was delicious and really helped to bring the chicken to life.

I'm not sure if management or chef has changed but their food is not what I remembered from years ago. We initially ordered their tofu pad thai and gai yang and immediately noticed how pricey their menu was. They have a wall of specials and I remember being shocked that their orange chicken was $24. I didn't mind paying more than what I was used to for my pad thai because I remembered their food was delicious but I was shocked when my pad thai came out. It was literally drowned in sauce and looked like it was a bowl of noodle soup. I was still optimistic hoping that it tasted better than it looked but it just tasted like sweet rice noodle soup. I was hesitant to bring it up to the waitress after two bites but so glad I did because I would have hated myself if I left without saying anything. The waitress was kind and offered to remake the dish. Instead, I opted for something else because I was afraid to be disappointed again. I ordered their tofu drunken noodles since I've gotten it here before and remember it being tasty. I confirmed that the drunken noodle was going to be a dry noodle dish and thankfully it was. It was good but not the best I've ever had. My boyfriend had their gai yang which is a marinated grilled chicken dish. He said it was pretty dry without the sauce on the side but the sweet chili sauce provided was pretty tasty. It's probably not worth $26 given the how dry the chicken was and he said he would never order it again. Overall, the customer service was great and portions were good. I had to deduct 3 stars from my previous review as the food quality has significantly gone down in my experience and doesn't justify the high menu prices in my opinion.

Real mango brought a natural sweetness that worked instead of overwhelming, and the sauce had depth. It felt composed. The vegetables could've been more evenly distributed and the chicken was just okay, but overall this was the standout and absolutely worth ordering again
