Additionally we chose a Shrimp Fresh Spring Roll and a Tofu Fresh Spring Roll. The Shrimp was definitely our favorite. Their peanut dipping sauce is soooo yummy! And we couldn't help ourselves, we also got an order of their Chicken Satay. Our eyes were bigger than our tummy's and we saved the Chicken Satay to enjoy the next day. Oh my gosh, it was delicious! And sir, I hope you read this because I told you I was going to write it and I do what I say! You were wrong to get so defensive with me. I got the Red Curry with chicken & the Basil (Ka Prow), both were really good and had lots of flavor. The egg rolls were very good. The cream cheese wantons were bigger than any other places I've gotten them from. Returning to San Diego from Corona on I-15, it was the middle of a hot afternoon and my eyelids began to get that droopy feeling, if you know what I mean. Coming upon Escondido's Center City Pkwy, I saw my chance to drop down off the freeway with the hopes of finding a spot to get a bite to eat and to refresh myself. That section of CC Pkwy was pleasantly wooded, but didn't offer anything in the way of resturants, or much else commercial, that is, until I reached the rearward side of a strip mall and the stop light at El Norte Parkway intersection. I saw my opportunity so did two quick rights into the mall's parking lot. Viewing the various possibilities as I drove slowly along, I spotted a Thai reasturant sign, Kinaly Thai Express to be more exact. Entering the place I found it quiet, being the middle of the afternoon, with the owner sitting behind the counter. She asked what I would like, whereupon, to her surprise, I responded in Thai. How so, you might wonder? My wife and I served in Thailand as Christian missionaries, starting over five decades ago till present--our two daughters having been born there--so my Thai was more that adquate to carry on a simple conversation. We settled into speaking in Thai, whereupon I asked her how authentic her restaurant's "Thai" the food was. Pretty much so, she responded honestly, saying her cook was Laotian. Laotian cooks are fine, because the two countries are conjoined, and the cultures are very similar, like the US and Canada. (Some employ Vietnamese help, which isn't too bad either, since their foods are not dissimilar, bordering Laos.) I was glad she said that; because, for convenience sake, many Thai resturants have Mexican help, including their cooks. Mexicans make great Mexican dishes, but it's a far cry from Thai cuisine. They do OK, though. I ordered something quick and simple, "Pat Thai w/Pork." We carried on a light conversation as I ate, code switching between Thai and English. And, her English was near perfect, having her American citizenship and being married to a "Farang"... Thai slang for a Westerner. My assesment of their Pat Thai? It was good; not unlike that which I might get anywhere in Thailand, be it Bangkok or any upcountry province. Generally speaking (IMHO), a major problem with the majority of Thai restaurants in the States is, they fix most all their various dishes way too sweet, thinking Farangs like sweet food ...I have no clue as to where they get that idea! That is not authentic Thai! Thai desserts are mildly sweet, as they should be, but not their main dishes, including currys ...except for a very few that are normally a little sweet, but most of these ones are not found on the typical Thai menu here in the States. One of these being the very scrumptious "Khai Luuk Kery," which could be said is a Thai version of "Deviled Eggs." Show this to the server in your favorite Thai restaurant next time you're there. Maybe their cook is Thai and can make it for you. Lastly, one pet peeve of mine here in the States is that many Thai restaurants have adapted adding sliced carrots to their dishes; because they're pretty, I was told. Nonsense.. That is not typical, so tell the server you want you order "sans" carrots. Some add finely diced carrots, which is passable, but without adding too many. Oh, one other thing that takes away from authenticity. Keep in mind that some of the special ingredients in Thai foods are not available in the States; so, that can also detract from the authentic taste. For example, Green Chicken Curry has a semi-bitter little herb the size of a large pea which is related to the eggplant. If, however, you find peas in your Green Chicken Curry, well, you can bet they went for the semi-authentic look, but not the real authentic taste, since these aren't available here. But then again, what do we "Farangs" know about it anyway? If they ask you if it's good, of course you're gonna say "yes." And it may be, although you've likely never experienced the real thing. Solution? Take a trip to Thailand and eat in some of the street-side vendors' spots found throughout Bangkok, starting around sunset. That is real Thai home cookin'. RM read more

Wow. Pleasantly surprised. Dropped my kitten off at a vet in town and was searching for a spot to pick up some lunch. My son is obsessed with noodles, so he decided on Thai. Naturally I yelped a nearby joint specifically somewhere with the walk up and order style. Not quite fast food, but didn't feel the need to have a waiter. This was the only place that fit what I was looking for so we gave it a shot. There was one other couple inside and no one else in line waiting to order. We were greeted but still took a good 5 minutes before they were able to take our order. Seemed strange, but nonetheless we waited. Well, it was worth it. The panang curry was delicious. Perfect amount of spice that added just a little kick to the dish. I have to say this was the first time i actually wanted to drink the sauce. The noodles portion was overdone and mushy like they used up all the scraps of the noodle. I'm always disappointed in this place. I love that there's a Thai place closer to where I live! The food is always so fresh. Also, the boba is SO good! I'm picky about my boba, because most restaurants serve it when the boba is hard and not so sweet. But, their attention not only to the drink but the rest of the food I greatly appreciate. I'm also highly allergic to seafood and nuts. I appreciate their attention to detail when it comes to food allergies customers may have. As for the inside, they keep it so clean! And it's aesthetically pleasing. As I'm writing this, there's a couple on a date. So if you're looking for a cute and informal date spot, this is a nice place to go to! We first noticed this place when we were going next door to get açaí bowls. There was only a sign over an empty business unit at that time, but that's all we needed to know. We were thrilled that we would be getting a Thai restaurant so close to our house. We've visited the full service location in San Marcos so this is a pretty good improvement on distance. We noticed they were finally open as we were driving by and spontaneously decided to stop for an early dinner. We arrived around 4:30 in the afternoon and were the only guests there at that time. It's an "express" location so you place your order at the counter like you would do at a quick service restaurant. The guy taking our order was friendly and managed to both take our order and answer phones. They actually received quite a few calls during the time we were there and more customers started filing in after we ordered. The space is fairly small with a few booths and a neatly arranged counter that's set up with chili flakes and sauces. The drinks are self service at the soda fountain. When you order an entree, the proteins are charged separately depending on which one you choose. We decided on classic panang curry with chicken, pad thai with beef, and a bowl of tom kha soup with chicken. The total cost came out to less than $30 not including the 25% off grand opening promotion. We also got free thai teas when we checked in on Yelp. The food took 10-15 minutes to come out. I'd say that we're pretty selective with our thai food and both my wife and I thought this place was delicious. You really wouldn't know it's an express location because there is no sacrifice to taste for the sake of convenience. The tom kha soup came steaming hot and they use the type of mushrooms my wife loves. The pad thai is served with the peanuts on the side and had just the right amount of flavor. I personally like a thicker curry but it still tasted great none the less and it came with a bowl of steamed rice. Considering I tend to drive further and pay more for the same kind of food, we'll definitely be coming here to get our fix in the future. read more

I ordered your Mango and sticky rice through Grubhub earlier today. Unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing. You served me an unripe mango with very little sweet coconut milk to go with it. Plus, you also served me a regular sticky rice as well. This was a waste of my money. A guy answers the phone as we're ordering cuts us off says "anything else" abrupt and rude we order more same thing... mid sentence cuts us off and so I'm already turned off by even picking up my food because I'm like this person clearly is rude and I don't want to give my business to a place that's going to treat me this way. Anyway.... Fast forward we go to pick up the food and he's even more rude in person his name was justice he looked like he was possibly on drugs and when being confronted about his poor attitude and crummy customer service he looked like a deer in the headlights and got even further confrontational.. when I asked for a manager he told me there was no one I could speak to he wouldn't give me a customer service line , HR, Manger direct nothing. AFTER-ALL said and done not only was the attitude and customer service disgusting the food was prepped sloppy , a mess and grease all over the inside of the bag. Great yellow curry! San Marcos feels like a food desert and I have to drive to Carlsbad, Escondido or Encinitas to eat something decent. I had their pad see you the first time and it was so good, the second time it tasted weird almost a little like chemicals and I didn't eat more than a bite. Their curry is very flavorful. I believe strongly in supporting local businesses, but those businesses should be executing and delivering what they advertised. The Crying Tiger dish that was delivered was essentially fajitas. Thick cut fatty beef with peppers and onions. Absolutely not what they advertise or what Crying Tiger is. Zero flavor or spice in any of the dishes. Pad Thai was mall quality. No bean sprouts, or garnish and no protein despite paying the up charge. Basil fried rice was disappointing as well. Save your money and order elsewhere.
