We were there this past week and were very pleasantly surprised at the excellent quality and freshness of the fish. The sushi and sashimi slices were quite generous. The place isn't very fancy and could use some freshening up but it will be our new sushi place from now on since we have been very disappointed with other places we went to lately and that we had been going to for months. First off... This is a small mom & pop establishment. Please don't use a delivery app to order from them. Call them and get off your lazy rear and go get it. The sushi here is very very good. Not the absolute best in Huntington, but definitely not the worst. What really stands out here is their other dishes. Particularly the Teriyaki menu. Miss Sakura Huntington ON JERICHO TURNPIKE REUSES/RECYCLES THEIR SASHIMI! On February 1st 2020 using DoorDash, I ordered a "Miss Sakura Platter A combo" which comes with sushi, sashimi and miso soup. Towards the end of my meal, to my horrific disgust, I discovered a piece of discolored salmon sashimi that has pieces of rice and a layer of white chalky film on it. Upon this appalling discovery, I called the restaurant to inform them and question them on how they handle their food. Being Asian myself, I was able to communicate my concerns in their native language. The person on the phone asked me to send him a picture of the sashimi on his cell phone. Immediately after receiving the picture, he called me back to say the sushi chef may have had rice on his hands when preparing my sashimi. This would have been an acceptable answer if the chalky film was not present on the sashimi. I told him the few grains of rice would have been fine, but I was concerned about the chalky film; I asked him about the chalky film and he denied seeing it on the picture. I told him I will drive over to the restaurant to show him. Upon arrival, I spoke with the manager, sushi chef, and delivery guy. They assured me that they use fresh sushi every time and they are careful with food handling. I asked them to explain what the chalky film was, they got visualizable worried. Given that I spoke their native language, they were not able to conspire to get their stories straight. Then the brilliant sushi chef told me that the bag had miso soup in it, so the heat from the soup container may have cooked the salmon and that explains the discoloration. I assured him I knew how to cook and if that was the case, I would not be there to question them about the chalky film. I continued to ask them what the chalky film was... They did not have an answer. I told them that the chalky film looks like overly soft rice grains that sat around/under a damp area for too long (for those who know me, you all know I can REALLY REALLY cook). I told the manager that I did not want to cause any trouble for his business and I just wanted to know what the film was and I wanted some sort of apology for the poor food handling. With no apology, the manager then had the audacity to tell me to take my issue to DoorDash and DoorDash will give me a refund. I went to my car to handle the DoorDash complaint... and the app offered me a $4.00 credit... hummm DoorDash? I go back into the restaurant letting the manager know about the situation. When I walk in, I see the manger, the sushi chef and the delivery guy hovering over my plastic sushi tray with a plastic bowl of hot miso soup laying on top of the sashimi think they were Robert Oppenheimer figuring out how to split an atom in the Manhattan Project!?!?! I told them "look, I will stand here for 20 minutes with them, but the bowl of soup will not recreate what happened to my food." Then the brilliant delivery guy tells me that they are not responsible for the food when it leaves the restaurant, implying that the Door Dash guy or I did something to the food. In Chinese, I called him out on it and of course, he back peddled and told him even though it was delivered by Door Dash it is still a representation of their establishment and the onus is on Miss Sakura. I then asked him, if you received food in the condition, how would he feel... no answer. His response was "well you ate most of it." I took a deep breath and explained to him that I save the salmon for the end because it's my favorite piece and I did not finish the other piece once I discover the appalling sashimi. Then all three said that if I dined in, they would be able to do something about it, but because it was through DoorDash their hands were tied... I said "ok, my hands are tied too" and walked out. Through the whole thing, all I wanted was a reasonable explanation and apology... I did not hear a single apology, but I heard a great deal of non-sense, deflecting and finger-pointing. read more

I can only comment based on my own experiences with Miss Sakura. I get Miss Sakura via Uber Eats. Sushi rolls have been consistently edible. Nothing to write home about, but I've had worse sushi. Nothing remarkable either, but no offense, sushi east of Queens is not great. Even in Syosset, where I used to live. I mean, how much fresh fish do you think they're selling consistently? As a rule, I try to avoid spicy sushi anything, as that flavoring hides many sins. For maki rolls, I try to go with a rainbow roll, since there's a variety of fish, and no gimmicky strong flavors. Was craving sushi so I figured I'd give a relatively new place a try. Got the titanic roll and the sexy dragon roll. Clearly this was my first mistake. Both rolls are about the same thing except for what's on top. The spicy tuna was definitely spicy on top of the sexy dragon roll so 1 and a half stars for that. Emphasis on exceptionally fresh ingredients, not just on the fish, but the meats and veggies are exceptionally fresh and high quality. The gyoza are clearly made in house, light, fresh and delicious. The lomein noodles also give the same impression. They did not taste or feel mass produced in any manner. Hibachi Chicken was juicy, smoky and perfect. Tempura is also a go to from here on out. I went to this place last weekend with a friend. After seeing the reviews I decided to check it out. As someone who has ventured to other sushi restuarants on Long Island that are all you can eat based, this is the only place that I've been to that does it under categories in price. For example, you're limited to certain dishes off the menu depending on what you pay for. So if you pay for the first option (cheapest) of all you can eat, there's only a certain amount of dishes you can choose from. If you choose the second option for all you can eat (which is a few dollars more), then you can eat the more exquisite dishes such as sushi pieces without the rice. I'm not a big fan of this because other places I've been to allow you to eat anything you want off the menu under one price. They should keep it to one price overall for everything off the menu. The quality of the fish is decent here, and the staff were very pleasant during my first experience. What keeps me from giving them 5 stars is the limitation of the menu and the explanation that came with trying to understand what dishes were under which pricing category. The place is also very small. Probably about 5 tables altogether that could sit a max of 14-15 people. So if you like to eat in a place to where you can have a nice conversation without someone next to you eavesdropping, then I'd probably suggest another place. It was pretty quiet when we were eating. The early delivery man aggressively knocked on my door. As I frantically ran to answer the door, the knocking got increasingly louder. Horrible place!! I ordered dinner on Valentine's Day through seemless, the order took over an hour and half when it said on seamless one 50 min to 1 hour. I called to ask about why it may be taking so long when I called I get the lady who sounds confused and seems stressed about how busy the place is, I had to repeat myself numerous times, and finally they I get told 10 min, but it didn't take 10 minutes from then took another 45 min.
