After hearing for years that Kinchley's Tavern serves the best thin-crust pizza in Bergen County -- maybe even in NJ and NY -- I finally made it in. It absolutely lived up to the hype. The thin crust is exactly what you want: crispy, light, and perfectly balanced so every bite has that ideal crunch without feeling heavy. The sauce has great flavor and the cheese-to-sauce ratio is spot on. We also ordered the fried ravioli and mussels, and both were excellent. The ravioli were crisp and flavorful, and the mussels were fresh and well-seasoned. You can tell this place has been doing what it does for a long time -- it's consistent and done right. Have been there before of course. Wanted to wait out the rain after going to the movies in Suffern, New York Lafayette Theatre to see Godfather II Even Tho it was very crowded . I only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table . I Ordered medium pizza with mushrooms and sausage. Came out in about 12 minutes beautiful fresh nice sized mushrooms fresh indeed . it's always bad when a restaurant serves canned mushrooms because they make the pizza wet. Not here sausage also very good. The sauce is flavorful A little sweet good balance with the sauce I like that very very thin crust, crunchy. Suggestion You should let the pizza cool down a bit before you eat it because the toppings can slide off when it's too hot. The only criticism there was not enough cheese on the pizza even though it looks like it was . This doesn't happen when you get a cheese pizza but when you have a few toppings, the cheese is a little bit light, However this IS delicious fresh pizza great atmosphere. They have a pretty extensive menu but I've only tried pizza and once I had a meatball Parmesan hero, which was very good I would say probably stick to pizza and hot heroes like sausage Parmesan meatball Parmesan BIG thumbs up to this place, I go here often after I see a movie at the Lafayette Theatre in Suffern celebrating ITS hundredth anniversary this year. But a pizza place is nothing without a good atmosphere but Kinchley's has that right too! It is the perfect lighting, the perfect retro vibe, and beautiful decorations. The place has the decor of a standard pizzeria which is totally fine. The service was fast but honestly not very hospitable. I felt very rushed inside the restaurant and was asked if I was done while I was literally eating additionally was not asked if I wanted dessert or anything they just slapped the check on the table and walked away. The place is also cash only so keep that in mind. The food was mixed. I ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer and the meatball parm sandwich for the entree. Stuffed Mushroom ($10) - would honestly not recommend this. The mushrooms were extremely soggy and the stuffing basically fell out of them as soon as you touched them. The stuffing itself was a soggy mix of bread and sausage which was the texture of unappetizing goop. Meatball Sandwich (17$) - this is the entire reason to go. The meatballs are homemade and are extremely good. The bread is crisp and as a whole the sandwich is really delicious. Would 100% order this again and recommend. Beers served in small old fashion glasses, drinks served the same. Old school bar on one side and a sit down spot on the other so you do have to be near kids if you don't want to. I heard good things about this place but to be honest I was pretty disappointed unfortunately. I could barely eat the crust since it just would break apart. I usually really enjoy all styles of pizza including thin/Chicago style but I'd this was just ok for me personally. Oh also it is cash only... this spot is very packed and a big hit with families too. there is a bar area with bar seating, but not many. i grabbed the dessert ravioli which are a must get. theres only 4 in the order, but they hit the spot and are unique. the vodka pie was my fave, but beware, its super salty. 2 slices max for me. get a beer in hand to chug it down. we got the garbage pie and i didnt get meat on my side. i didnt love this. to be honest the veggies were over powering and messy. the regular pie wasnt bad, but again, a bit salty and sweet with the sauce. id come back and try more of their unique sauces. ps their house beer is good. read more

Service not with a smile. Have been coming to Kinchleys with my family since the early 1990s. Walked in today and the first words out of the hostess's mouth were " did you make a reservation?" No we did not. As I looked around there were 7 tables occupied out of about 20 (yes I counted). We then asked if we could sit in a large booth. Hostess retort was "well how many of you?" To which we replied 4 adults 2 kids. Hostess replied with "well how long are you going to be?" To which we replied not long. And we weren't. We were in and out in 50 minutes. Anyway, finally sat down but the whole encounter left us feeling a bit off. Our waiter however was wonderful and efficient. Drinks and food delivered quickly and the bill was only $47 before tip. My time at Kinchley's Tavern is one of my favorite pizza experiences. When I entered, the place was busy with activity. The seating area was packed with families enjoying Sunday Pizza. I managed to get some seating at the bar. The classic, wooden bartop is a staple in all good taverns. The bartender and staff were very friendly. They recognized and conversed with regulars and were very attentive. I started with a glass of Kinchley's Red Checkered Ale while I enjoyed the wall decorations. These consisted of street signs, famous sports stars, photos, model trains, historic photos, and excellent quotes like, "the truth comes out when the spirits go in." The pizza came out super fast! Now that's good service. The Original featured a cracker-thin crust, the epitome of a classic bar-style pizza. The sauce and cheese were fresh and delicious. The Vodka pizza had some of the best vodka sauce I've ever experienced. Both pies featured plenty of cheese that melts over the the side of the crust and chars in the oven. Each pie had a perfectly toasted base and crust with good structure. I had a truly enjoyable time eating pizza at Kinchley's Tavern. Upset I don't live closer. I had a pizza with ricotta and breaded eggplant about 3 months ago. Every day since, I have thought about it. I ordered a creamsicle float and they brought it to me in a 40oz Oktoberfest glass. It was so comically big that people were coming over to the table to look at it and ask me what in the world I ordered. I felt important. French onion soup was good. Salads were good. The cannoli raviolis were TERRIBLE!! They obviously get a pass but these shouldn't be sold so bad!! Another cool thing is you can choose Original or Fra Diavolo sauce when ordering your pizza. I did not know that they add mint to it, which distracted me from the flavor and was not appreciated. Calamari was overcooked and chewy. I ordered a small white pie, but the ricotta was mixed with SO much pepper that it was inedible to me. Even my boyfriend that loves pepper said it was way too overwhelming. If I could rate the vibe, decor, service separately, this place is a 5. Once you introduce the pizza, it gets brought down to a respectable 4. You have to respect this place. It's one of a kind, been around forever, and is a fun, family friendly place with a bar in the back, and the same wood paneling since forever. You should try it at least once, and I could easily see myself coming here if I lived closer. We got the buffalo wings (different, not in a bad way), and a plain pie half pepperoni. They have some really fun options too, which might be worth trying in the future, but when I go to place for the first time I always have to try the plain. The sauce to cheese ratio is pretty good, the crust is thin and crispy. There was ALMOST too much oregano, but that is a personal choice. We were going to the Ren Faire in Tuxedo and spent the night and came across this restaurant for a family dinner . It was exceptional . It's not fancy , and it gets crowded so make a reservation . The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone . Cold beer on tap , generous drinks as well. We had zucchini sticks ...best ever !!!Not soggy but flavorful with a nice crunch . A root beer float came in a huge mug and was a meal by itself . My girl had a burger that was terrific . Pizza is cracker crust NJ style . It's awesome , but perhaps not as filling as you might expect . A medium pie can easily be eaten by one person . I was looking for a place to get a quick dinner at around 9pm on a Tuesday. It feels like everything is closing earlier since the pandemic. Not Kinchley's, they were still going strong. The wait staff were all pleasant and professional. I was with my daughter, her boyfriend, and one of her friends. We ordered two large pizzas and mozzarella sticks. The sticks were great, perfectly fried with quality mozzarella. We got the fra diavlo sauce with bacon and a plain cheese pie. The four of us took both of those pies out!
