I've been coming to Kinder Cuts for several years, which is why this is disappointing to write. I have a child on the autism spectrum, so consistency and timing are very important for us. There was a serious incident where a stylist cut both of my son's ears and he was bleeding, and it was brushed off like nothing happened. I had to step in and ask her to stop. That alone was very concerning. On top of that, appointments have become extremely unreliable. I always call ahead to avoid long waits, but we've been delayed 30+ minutes multiple times, which is very difficult for a child who cannot tolerate waiting and can have meltdowns. Most recently, I was told 15 minutes, but it went well past 30 with no clear communication, so I had to leave. I basically just got up and left. I will not come back. read more

We love this place! Never a long wait but if a little busy it's okay because their play area is great! We especially love that they can do a great comforting scissor cut for our child who doesn't like loud noise (he's autistic) unlike other places we've tried, it's not overstimulating and loud! It's also not crazy bright or severely busy with 20 people cutting hair.... As usual they did great! They have many clean cars or other seats for them to choose from and a kids show on the tv.... I previously had Kim who was amazingly patient and caring to my son on the spectrum. The only additional support he needs to his haircut Is patience from the Barber. We went through a few barbers before being Kim's regular client. 1 of the 2 barrbers working this very morning reminded me that she didnt want to cut his hair because she had a bad experience (2 years ago) with him in the past. I asked her if she even wanted to try. She recited the bad experience from 2 years ago once again before telling me its up to me. I didn't feel confident in her patience so we left. My son has been a regular customer of this establishment since he was 2 years old. He's 9 now and it's kind of sad that this is the way we end this relationship. I took my 22 months grandson for hair cut and I showed her the picture and asked her to keep 1" and half longer , she said OK yes but she used the clippers and finished the hair cut in 5 minutes and it's all uneven. I am extremely dissatisfied with both the haircut and the customer service at this salon. If I could give it zero stars, I would. My daughter needed a haircut, so I scheduled an appointment for Monday at 4:30 PM with Ngan Kim. When we arrived, the receptionist saw us but walked away to assist another client. She stood at a barber chair and shouted across the room for us to "sign in" without even asking if we had an appointment. We ended up waiting for about 17 minutes past our appointment time. Normally, I wouldn't mind a short wait if it were busy, but this was a Monday afternoon, and they weren't busy at all. When Ngan finished with her previous client, I waited in line as she rang them up. During this time, she didn't acknowledge me at all. When she finally finished, I politely asked if they prioritize appointments or mainly take walk-ins so I would know for future visits. I explained that we had an appointment 17 minutes earlier and asked when it would be our turn. Ngan bluntly replied that she could take us now, without offering any apology or reassurance. As she worked on my daughter's hair, she was noticeably unkind and rough, even though I was right there. Children can be fidgety, which is exactly why we chose a salon that advertises itself as specializing in kids' haircuts. Initially, I planned for my daughter to get a full haircut, but after experiencing the poor customer service, I decided to only request a bang trim. Ngan loudly informed the store owner and coworkers that my daughter was just getting a bang trim and then called me something rude in Vietnamese, not realizing I could understand everything. To make matters worse, Ngan didn't even wet my daughter's hair before cutting. The result was a choppy and uneven trim. When I asked her to fix it, she kept cutting it shorter and shorter, completely ruining her bangs. She even tried to blame the uneven cut on a "cowlick," which my daughter doesn't have. As a licensed cosmetologist, I know I could have done a better job myself, but I wanted to treat my daughter to a salon experience because she enjoys it. Furthermore, after Ngan finished the trimming, she didn't even bother to dust the hair off my daughter's face. I had to grab a tissue to wipe them off myself. By then, she had already walked away, showing no concern at all. While I didn't say anything, it certainly left a bad taste in my mouth. Unfortunately, this visit was a complete waste of our time and money. I do not recommend this salon, especially the stylist Ngan. She didn't even deserve a tip. read more

Never again! I never really cared for this place but my kids seem to enjoy it and my son, who's autistic, really loved this place. Never cried here. The haircuts were decent. But after yesterday no more! There was three ladies in there. One stopped cutting hair to clean up around the shop. While she was cleaning up the shop, she goes to the back of the store where me and all of my kids are playing on the little jungle gym, they have back there, and there's a piece of the foam mat that I guess was apart from the rest so that the lady saw my kids playing and just pushed it off to the side no big deal. The other lady who was cutting some kids' hair, turned around to stop what she was doing to be nosy to what the other lady and my kids were doing. She was mad she was pointing at my kids and I don't know what she was saying in her language to the other lady.But all of a sudden, she starts going towards my kids and says, in a very angry voice/tone move it, please! Just because you put the word please at the end doesn't mean that you're not being rude. My kids did move, but so did I i got up, went over to her and told her to never speak to my children that way. I have been taking my son to this place for haircuts since he was a baby, he is now almost 8 years old. Mimi is wonderful! She is patient, kind, and does a beautiful job giving my boy a handsome haircut. For years he was afraid of the hair trimmer and she took her time with him building trust with him and just using scissors until finally she was able to use the trimmer without him crying. She worked magic! We ended up moving up to Brentwood and made the long drive all the way down to San Jose every time he needed a haircut because of her excellent service. She is worth the drive! I can't even express how happy I am that we found this place. Everything was SO fast, our appointment was at 4:30pm, we were out by 4:40pm! We even waited for a little bit and honestly I think letting my son play with the toys and get a feel for the store made him more comfortable to sit for his haircut. He chose which car to sit in, and she got started on his hair right away! There's so many things in the store to distract them like other cars to sit in, the tv, toys, paintings on the walls, and of course other kids getting their hair cut too. She was SOO fast and I'm so impressed with his hair! Of course he doesn't have a perfectly straight line up or anything but its a kids haircut! I came with my 10 month old son to get him his first hair cut. Many friends and family told me about this place and how great it was so we decided to give it a shot. We first checked in on their iPad and waited to be called. Once it was our turn, the lady told us to pick where we would like for our son to get his hair cut and we picked one of the cars. She asked if it was his first haircut and we said yes and she was nice to give us a lock of his hair and a first haircut certificate. The downside was when she asked us how we wanted his haircut . I explained I wanted a number on top and another number on the side. She said, "what do you mean? I don't understand with numbers" Um ok. Then she said I should have come in with a picture of what I wanted. Why can't I explain it? I tried explaining it and she kept saying she wanted a picture. So I find a picture and she gets cutting. They charge more than it states on the service menu and up charge even more if you use a credit card to pay. I went in with my 7 year old for a simple cut and the menu said $25. I was charged $27 for a "scissor cut" and apparently they charge more than stated on the menu for that. I was charged even more because I was paying with a credit card. Surprisingly bad experience just now, compared to my first experience. Lady opening was rough with my child. I arrived at 10:25pm they open to the public at 10am. Lady there was not prepared or ready for the day at all. Lights were off and nothing was prepared at the front desk, I even had to turn on their iPad and log into the check in app for the lady. The employee arriving late to work isn't my fault, totally on her and bad for the owner since her employee can't even open on time. My son hates haircuts (he's 2 what do you expect), didn't help the situation by being rough and holding his head forcefully. Then afterwards she proceeds to tell me I need to hold him tighter on the body to hold him down for next time. Seriously?! I literally wrestled my son to keep him steady for you. I would have gone to Angel Cuts on Branham and Meridian but the lady we like was on vacation so I came here instead. Usually I Tip these women $20 on top of the $20 price for the haircut. This is the first time I tipped only $5 I would have tipped $0 but that isn't me since I'm not heartless. I understand these women probably work for low wages. But how they treat the children and the parents greatly will influence their tip range. To the owners please educate and develop your team with their interactions with young ones especially the ones already afraid of the haircuts. And check in to make sure they open your facility on time. That doesn't mean work starts at 10am. They should get their 15-20 min to prep and make ready everything so when 10am rolls around they are ready and not rushing around which puts them in a bad mood from the start. Unfortunately this will be my last time here with any of my children. Hopefully you all have a better experience then what we just had. read more

Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2015 Kinder Cuts is my go to place to have my toddler's haircut. Ian had his first haircut when he was one year old in Los Gatos with his Lola Beth; his second haircut was at Kinder Cuts. Kim is the only hairstylist at Kinder Cuts that has cut my son's hair. She is careful, precise and does an amazing job of cutting hair when he was a little one up until now. The entire shop is clean and well maintained. Upon entering you'll see the front desk and on the right you'll see the area where they have hair products for sale, on the left is the waiting area for the parents and kids with a tiny activity table. In the middle of the shop there are cars for boys and girls that your little one will sit inside when they get their haircut. They have this fun activity area towards the back of the right hand side of the shop with puzzles, books and toys. On the left hand side area of the shop in the back they have play structures with slides etc. They very back of the shop is an extremely clean restroom with changing table for those who have little ones in diapers. Moms and Dads can get haircuts here too (though we've never tried it out). Kim is the main reason I come back here because she's a fantastic hairstylist and works hair magic with my little one. I love the welcoming environment, the cleanliness and the televisions that play kid friendly movies which keep everyone entertained. This is definitely a favorite in my Yelp Notebook!
