Second visit today, for dinner.... Since moving back to ATL last summer, I have wanted to find a "favorite " neighborhood place....and, had really hoped that Kindred would be the one. I made a res online for "early" - old people early, early bird early. (I am retired so, I can eat early IF I want. ) A couple of hiccups with our seating...ugh. On to cocktails - hiccups be damned! Not so fast - an issue with locating an ingredient for on of our cocktails....sad trombone. Moving on to food - we both ordered filets - a little hiccup with the chef over cooking temps caused my filet to be redone. Much better second time....just a suggestion to Kindred : please put # of ounces, as is common in steakhouse menus. The filets were no more than 6 oz each which was a disappointment. My dining partner loved the sautéed spinach . Had the crème brûlée for dessert - very good. This is a great neighbor restaurant with a great atmosphere - will definitely return just hopeful for minimal hiccups next time. Photos for context. read more

Terrible service. It took 70 minutes to get our lunch--in an almost empty restaurant! And the sandwiches were only of average quality (steak sandwich and chicken melt). No warning about a long wait time--in fact, no contact from a server until he brought the food. Unless you just enjoy sitting and waiting for so-so food, I'd skip Kindred entirely. There are most definitely better restaurants with better, less expensive food and more attentive service nearby. read more

Kindred is by far our favorite go-to. The service is fantastic, food is equivalent to any Buckhead or midtown spot and the ambiance is elevated, cozy and good for special occasions or spur of the moment dinner. read more

Drinks were amazing and I would come back just for a happy hour to enjoy those. Apps are overpriced. Lamb lollipops under-seasoned and octopus flavorless and extra chewy. We were told it's the best octopus in the city...not sure who they polled. Steak well cooked and that's about it. Our waiter was lit and all our food arrived at once which is a huge pet peeve especially for the price you pay for apps. My husband and I were very excited to try it but honestly the food at kitchen six was better and priced more reasonable for what you received. This is a fantastic neighborhood place with great food and atmosphere. The cocktails are great too- they make a fantastic martini. We've been several times for lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed. For lunch we've loved the grouper sandwich, the Cobb salad and the steak sandwich- and the side salad (usually an afterthought) is delicious. For dinner - you can't go wrong with any of the steak options (sourced from Oak Grove Market next door) and the starters (pimento cheese board, burrata, and the grilled octopus are all delicious.). Definitely give this place a try if you're in the neighborhood! read more

We arrived at Kinoted for our first visit tonight. I refreshed my yelp password expressly to give this review because this was so disappointing. First the food was excellent. And the service delivering the food was excellent. However, the evening began with (and was over shadowed by) a first ever-- the hostess slid back the chair and table to squeeze my wife into a back seat, then to slide in the table for me to sit opposite her, with diners 6 inches apart from us. This was a terrible experience. We got to hear the other couples conversations the entire evening. even when I asked to be reseated, the only other option was that bar. Electing to continue, I got to hear the couple on the left incessantly complain about the lateness and over doneness of their meal. I learned even more from the couple on the right. The couple in the left were so disappointed that they dressed down the manager and because we were so close we couldn't ignore the whole ordeal. It did not start our evening off on a good note. Eventually, the left, left and the right did too. This made the ambience more bearable. But it was still claustrophobic. Particularly as one could see if the restaurant really needed to turn another table there was space on my far right to do so. As I completed this review, I heard another couple comment that the tables were too close but, again the hostess was blasé- providing a quick assurance that 9 out of 10 folks make friends. Overall a good restaurant that is too inflexible in seating. I won't be back but perhaps my and other complaints will free up some space for more enjoyable evenings by others. Or not. read more

We went for Thursday night prime rib. The rib was tasteless and unseasoned. It was like chewing bubble gum. The sautéed spinach was so salty rendering it inedible. The baked potato was small and tasteless. We paid the bill, left a good tip and went to another restaurant for dinner. read more

Tuesday special at Kindred was outstanding! My son & I enjoyed the lamb and beef burger with Taziki sauce, lettuce & tomato on a delicious bun. It came with home fries that were perfectly seasoned. I've heard the steaks are top notch, but I generally don't order a steak when I'm out. However, what I do order is seafood and beer. The shrimp and grits are some of the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, buttery shrimp on top of corn grits, I could probably eat this every day. Next up the chili garlic crab claws. I'm from Maryland (yeah I'm pulling the 'Maryland all blue crab knowing card') and love blue crab claws. The sweet, firm meat is very underrated and overlooked in my opinion. I don't think A) I have ever seen blue crab claws on a menu B) I don't think I have ever had them tossed in a chili garlic sauce. Amazing! Other items like the grouper, bouillabaisse, clams, and of course the Thursday night oyster special are all highly recommended as well. Summary: the menu may change a bit, but you can count on any seafood dish being a winner. The tap list is fairly small, only 6 taps, but the taps are always an interesting variety of local (or regional) craft beers. There is Creature Comforts Tropicalia (of course), but the rest of the beers are not generally the brewery's flagship beer (examples: Skyway IPA from Green Bench or Vacanza Key Lime Pie Gose from Wild Leap). This leads to a more unique tap list than other restaurants. Short version: every food and drink menu item I've had has been phenomenal. Go! read more

My favorite neighborhood go-to for excellent cocktails and tasty appetizers or a meal. Recent cocktail offering, Ciao, is especially good and their Sticky Ribs are a treat. Oysters on Thursday with an icy cold dirty martini is my fave and the prime rib is a delicious deal. I call Kindred My Happy Place. read more

While it had a nice intimate vibe and the staff were very friendly I had to almost shout to be heard even though my dinner mates were less than 2 feet away. Too noisy. Limited menu. Wow, the food here is really excellent! The craft cocktails and wine selection are good and the service was excellent. We shared the pimento cheese board among the 3 of us and it was plenty. We all had steaks and were very happy with the quality. It's a little loud in the restaurant and the volume could have been turned down... though it was a Saturday night. Unfortunately, the grouper sandwich is not worth it. While the flavors were OK, $24 for a sandwich the size of a filet o' fish was a surprise. We used to go to Kitchen 6 (previous incarnation of this restaurant) and never had food surprises or disappointments. Maybe the cost of grouper is up, I don't know. But I can go to a local restaurant just down the road and get a Carolina trout bahn mi for $10 that is much better. I'll go back and try other things on their menu, but not this item. read more

First time visit and an excellent evening from start to finish. Friendly greet and seating by maitre d, attentive yet didn't rush us service by Steven, and food fantastic. Well crafted wine list and menu. Started with a shared special appetizer shrimp and crab cake, on to steaks, filet purist with diver scallops, hanger bistro with scallops, mashed potato's and shared an extra side of spinach. Dessert choice was a chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla ice cream, caramel and chocolate. Food quality shines here and is noticeably high standard. Ambience great -- decor fits with the name, Kindred -- loved the art portraits and lighting, plus live band on Wednesday night. I'd recommend for a special occasion, date night, meet with friends over shared appetizers & drinks, or eating out night whether solo or with a group. Thoroughly enjoyed. read more

My family of 13 ( 6 adults & 7 children) celebrated a birthday here. The staff was very accommodating.The food was amazing! The crab claws ,mahi-mahi and steak were great! We would highly recommend eating here. So glad that we came here! We were going to go to Ray's on the river but they did not seem to want to have all the children.So Ray's lost out and we had a great meal. The only thing I would change is the volume of the music. Use to be good. First few times were excellant. Suppose to be full bar. But, no bloody mary. Then they purchased a bloody mary mix from a store and chatged $12. A $12 charge for bloody mary should be made at the resturant. Not an experienced bartender. Last 2 times I went chicken was dry. For, the prices they charge it should be excellent. Good service, bad music and the food....sub average and for some items, inedible. A poor replacement for the decent Kitchen Six formerly operating in this space. The waitress told us all the meats and vegetables come from Oak Grove market! I'm not sure this is a positive selling point. Caesar salad wedge was ok. Octopus and veggie tacos were fine, but the $28 pork chop was terrible. Overcooked, no seasoning (tasted no salt or pepper) and so dry it was a choking hazard. The cornbread crumbled on top was laughable....WHY?! I can't stop thinking this is a pig with lipstick ~ oak grove market food dressed up in a "swanky" restaurant. If they don't make changes, I'm afraid they won't last long. I recommend Sprig just up the road for this type of food read more

The three share plates we had were CRAZY GOOD. (Grouper cake/crab claws, scallops, and lobster tails). The grouper cake was better than any crab cake I've ever had. Also has the pimento cheese plate. Drinks and atmosphere was awesome. First time there but will definitely be back. read more

I had the pork chop here. The meat itself was flavorless. Had a sauce on top that was trying to give it something, but it didn't do much. My girlfriend had the crab claws. It was a pretty strange food item. Came in a bowl and had a large amount of the tiniest claws you can imagine. She said the flavor was good. But because the claws are super tiny, it's a bit of an investment to finish them. Our server was a tall younger man who never smiled and it was pretty clear he wanted to be somewhere else. We'd smile and ask him for x, y, and z. He would apparently listen and then just walk away without saying anything to us. The mashed potatoes I substituted came out after I had almost finished the meal. The looked awful and neither of us ate them. The server made a comment that mashed potatoes are just not something he would have ordered here. Pricy meal and not something we would return to have again. read more
