The kiosk you pay at asks for tip amount that starts at 18%, a few in our party had a conversation about this and they believe if you stand order, you shouldn't give a tip I did regardless. They have a water station where you also get your own. The two other people in our party got their order and they forgot to enter mine and I realized it after a few people that were seated or served before I was, but they brought my food after I asked -didn't apologize. Let's start off with stating that their website states they open at 6, but they do not. They open at 7. We were the first customers of the day. When my wife and I arrived stated they had no open tables because they were all reserved despite the restaurant being completely empty. The reservation portal on their website is non-functional. We were told we could sit at the bar. I'm sure we looked confused... but then we were told that there was one table open. I'm not sure why we weren't offered that first. The pancakes had good flavor but were way too sweet. The biscuits had a strong rosemary flavor which I liked but didn't work in the chicken biscuit. The flavors seemed very haphazard. Also, they use chicken thighs for their chicken biscuit which was way more weird than I would have expected. The hash browns have to be a joke. Pressed potato patty for $4? Overall decor was nice and service was fine. Way over priced for what you get and 100% not a "diner feel." read more

Confused, because no one else was waiting & there was no a waitlist online, she told me they had reservations all day so we would have to wait. Taking reservations when you have a total of probably 10 tables accompanied by a rude hostess is only going to steer walk ins away. So.much.potential. We had some great food when Kinfolk was at Hog & Hominy (particularly the cinnamon toast and the banana pudding tiramisu), so when Kinfolk opened we were excited to go. First the good: biscuit, pecan pie spread, cook on the eggs, and the ideas. Unfortunately everything we ordered (other than the biscuit) was deeply out of balance. Too much salt. Too much fat. Too sweet. Even hours and liters of water later, we are still feeling the salt. My partner said she would prefer a Cracker Barrel, but I want the creativity and quality of Kinfolk once they find that missing balance. read more

Chef Cole is a wonderful and talented chef local to Memphis, TN. He is SUPER well known by the city of Memphis as not only a top notch chef, but also a great human being that is kind and humble to everyone around him. He cares deeply to share his work of cooking food and sharing stories about the background to how he was inspired. Kinfolk began as a pop up that quickly grew in recognition. After a long wait, many were happy that the restaurant finally opened up. The menu is vast. The staff are great and friendly. The atmosphere is soothing and diner like. Obviously the food is great and all of the ingredients are sourced premium. Chef Cole too works in his own establishment which makes me see how passionate he is to be not just a business owner, but also a team member and leader. My friends and I brag about his food, his restaurant, him, and everything that is attached to him. Parking is accessible. I love this place for breakfast but my god the prices are out of control. On the menu the breakfast burrito is advertised as 11.25. In the description it includes protein, but they add THREE DOLLARS to add a protein. Then they have a 15% gratuity for to go orders.
