C has this breaking new thing you see.... It's called social media. It's just getting started, no telling where this thing could go! I think she may be on to something here. You log into an app on your phone and there are all kinds of people saying things, calling attention to themselves and others, making videos, sometimes of themselves, sometimes of them using products and telling you to buy things. Most recently she is on some food reviewers that review food in their car while they eat on camera. Big Term and the Pizza Guy I think are their names. Big Term got his teeth done since the last time she showed me a video of his. It must pay well. His wife stars in some of his videos and she is extra gross with all that open mouth chewing. Ewwwww Personally I can't stand watching folks smack their mouths and eat food in the car. I find it absolutely vile and most unentertaining. How did we get here as a society? It's nasty. I don't even take pics of food with bites taken from them. Just ewwwwweewwwe Now.... You may ask.... Why in the hell did I start with that? This is how I got here. These folk infiltrated my girls feed and have got her wanting to go to some interesting places we would have never gone before. Walk in and it's a hodgepodge of stuff going on inside. Some BB King memorabilia, some cool rock and roll murals, that kind of thing. It's an interesting vibe. There are a couple conditioned patios that provide majority of the seating. Multi levels inside that would prove to be difficult for me a year ago. Now I am a real boy again though! We were sat near the front entrance. Folks waiting for to go were abound. They do a great take out business and stayed busy with take out the entire time we were there. Food took every bit of 45 minutes after we ordered. The first 15 min of that was because our server never rang it in to begin with. Pair this with it taking 15-20 to actually take our order to begin with, and it's a really long time to wait. It's ok. But not really though. Most people came and went while we sat without food. Finally someone who looked like a manager recognized we had been there for an excessive amount of time and gets things going. Thanks man. Food arrives and I am starving! C's pancakes looked great and my chicken and waffle looked pretty promising. I had never had C&W before but this seemed like a good place to start trying them. C liked her Chef breakfast with pancakes and did not even use syrup on them. I did use it on my waffle, which was pretty good of what I could eat of it. It was way more dense than I expected. I got seasoned chicken wings and they were cooked and seasoned well. The sausage is really tasty! I started this as a 4, but slid to a 3 as I wrote it, and here is why. The dang plastic ware they give you with your meal. It's the absolute cheapest you can get I would bet. People make mistakes, forget things, and kitchens get backed up, but serving that plastic crap is a choice! I'll bring my own in next time if we make it back. I gave up eating my waffle because I could not cut the damn thing with that liquid knife and fork you gave me! The knife folded under any pressure at all and the fork would not penetrate the waffle. Please buy better stuff for your guests to eat with. You have plates and cups, why not silverware? '25 - 104/111

Chicken and waffles for the win! Great spot with the most beautiful pancakes I've ever seen. The servers are nice as well. My only critique is the janky plastic cutlery. Their food is too good to eat with plastic. Highly recommend they upgrade since it's tough to eat waffles with what they have now. Big fan!

I love when new places come to Memphis, especially in neighborhoods where you would least expect them. This establishment is really nice. I love how it has a modern and traditional decor style. It feels trendy and homey at the same time. The staff was very welcoming and attentive our entire visit. Our food experience was just as good! I had the Bond's Classic. It comes with creamy grits paired with two crispy slices of bacon, two golden pieces of toast, and two eggs. I added a savory sausage link and a side of perfectly crispy tater tots. I couldn't finish all of it. I also added a pancake and it was delicious. My hubby had the Cajun Shrimp and grits. OMG! I will be going back for those. The chicken and waffle were good as well. It's not a huge portion, but it was filling for my glambaby. I'm glad this spot is here and I look forward to going back soon!

Had a fun time at Memphis Toast. Service was excellent. Shout out to Brittney. She was fantastic. We also met the chef and she was so nice. The owner took a picture of us at the photo area. Everyone was so welcoming. The restaurant looks small from the outside but is quite spacious. The rooms have decor representing that area. There is an Elvis Room and Beale Street room with street signs. I made a reservation for 6 and we were seated pretty quickly. The parking is a tad tricky as the street is narrow with cars parked on both sides. Maybe smart to carpool. The food was really tasty. I ordered the Chef's breakfast that came with three of the fluffiest pancakes, two eggs, two pieces of bacon and a sausage patty. I ate half of my food. Had a fabulous time with friends. I will be back. Really enjoyed myself.

Memphis Toast a new black owned restaurant in Memphis is my new favorite brunch place now. You can park in the parking lot or the neighborhood street parking. The staff were really friendly and answered any questions about the menu. I ordered The Cajun shrimp and grits and of course it was 10/10!!!!! And don't forget the bread. I should've asked for more bread honestly. The decor is nice. It's a representation of Memphis. I'm definitely going back to try the other items on the menu.

Biggest turnaround I've ever experienced with a restaurant. We went when it first opened, and to be honest, completely horrible experience between the wait time after ordering food, the seats themselves, and the food. Just went yesterday and they've done a 180. Solid menu, solid portions, very comfortable seating. The breakfast burrito, sticky sandwich, and double egg omelette were all legit. Nice little spot for the locals and good music vibes. Good job guys o

The food was delicious and came out swiftly, and our server, who is the owner, was very attentive. He also offered us a tour of the rest of the place, which was really nice. We enjoyed all the Memphis artifacts, and great music was playing!

This is such a cute spot in north Memphis! I loved how each room represented a different piece of Memphis culture. The staff were incredible friendly and even gave us a mimosa on the house! We enjoyed the chicken and waffle as well as the shrimp and grits. The beignets are good if you need something sweet to go with your meal. Go here for the vibes!

I wasn't so sure about this place from the outside; I would have totally overlooked it if I hadn't been looking for it. But inside was very nice and comfortable. The staff was busy and very friendly. The food was all very good, but the seafood omelette was outstanding. I'm still thinking about it days later. I would have gone 5 stars if not for the fact it took nearly and hour to get food after being seated. It was busy, but it's not that big of a place and several tables got turned while we waited.

I was looking for breakfast while charging my vehicle at Crosstown. I got the shrimp and grits. They were about to close, they are not open past 3pm most days, but they had enough time to feed me. Very flavorful. Would like to try some other items eventually. Nice to support local.

    Seafood omelette

Omg! if you're looking for a good brunch place, this is it. The food was immaculate. The drinks was just as good. The customer service was even better. I give this an overall excellent experience. I haven't been out in a restaurant where it felt like home and the food felt like back in the day. I am definitely coming back again and friends. I forgot to get photos at the beginning sorry yall.

    Seafood Omelet w/Brioche Toast

Stopped in after looking around for a brunch place. Outside looks cute, like a diamond in the rough. My husband and I walked in and almost every table was full. The servers were wonderful and attentive. We both ordered the seafood omelet. We did see there sign at the front that said everything was made fresh, please be have patience. After about a 45 min wait, we were given the best omelet I have ever had. The food was worth the wait. Only downfall was like many other reviews- the cutlery. Although I had an omelet, I was a little shocked that the cutlery was so flimsy. I agree that their food was too good for plastic cutlery, but if you are to have that, at least have the sturdier plastic. Highly recommend!

Very clean facility. There is a side room with table games and yard games. We stopped in for breakfast on the weekend and they weren't busy yet but it started to pick up rapidly as we enjoyed our meal. Super friendly staff. We'll be back!

Sunrise Memphis did not disappoint. We stopped in around 12:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and didn't experience any crowds or much of a lunch rush. That being said, after eating here, I completely understand why people mention waiting hours on weekends. The ordering process is simple: walk up to the counter, place your order, grab a number, and seat yourself. I appreciated that they offer both breakfast and lunch all day because it meant we didn't have to choose between the two. I ordered the chicken tenders with tater tots and an Arnold Palmer. Everything was fresh, hot, and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave in the middle of a long road trip. Kyler ordered the Kitchen Sink, which came with eggs, bacon, hash browns, grits, and a biscuit. He asked if he could swap the cheesy grits and biscuit for biscuits and gravy, and they ended up bringing him everything anyway! It was a massive meal, but absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also loved the fun, eclectic atmosphere. The colorful Memphis touches throughout the restaurant gave it so much personality, and there was even a bar area that made me think this would be an absolute blast for brunch with friends. Sunrise Memphis ended up being one of our favorite surprises of the entire drive. If you're passing through town, do yourself a favor and stop here.

The owner and the servers are very friendly and strive to exceed customers' expectations, but the staff seems a little undisciplined at times. When we stopped by for breakfast about 815am on our last day visiting Memphis, there was a growing line of customers standing patiently outside while the staff was getting the restaurant up and running behind schedule. We waited outside for another ten or fifteen minutes before the hostess invited us inside and sat us right away. The owner stopped by after we had received our meals to check in to make sure we had everything we needed and apologized for the delay in opening, which was a nice gesture. She also explained a bit how the restaurant's menu was comprised of dishes she'd developed over the years while cooking for her children as they grew up. The menu includes plenty of tasty, filling breakfast and brunch staples, both savory -- a variety of omelettes, benedicts, bowls, and breakfast sandwiches -- and sweet -- several innovative pancake and french toast options. I had the house-specialty Salmon Cakes platter, consisting of two salmon croquettes with homemade honey mustard glaze served alongside two eggs, grits or potatoes, and toast, which was excellent. My dining companion had the Garden Omelette, filled with tomatoes, broccoli, caramelized onions, and mushrooms, which she really enjoyed as well. We will definitely be back next time we're in the area! PRO TIP #1: The Garden Brunch Cafe is only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8am til 230pm.
