I Went with a few friends who were not happy that it could be spicy so they went with the mild . Well they complained it was to spicy but as they continued eating it lol when finished both said " I would definitely come back again." If you never ever have spicy food even the tinniest amount seems to explode in your mouth but once the initial shock was over they realized heh this isn't bad at all. It actually added a nice level of flavor. Needless to say we all went home satisfied and happy ! No wondering why after 38 years they are still in business. I ordered lunch from the king and I today. I called and asked if they could swap the chicken massaman curry for shrimp but she said they couldn't. The lunch deal was $8.50 and came with rice. She said I had to order the dinner portion which was much bigger- it was $14.95. Fine. My friend who DID order the chicken and my order were proportionally the same BUT in different packaging. Overall, not a huge deal because the food was worth the $14.95! Flavorful, with just enough "kick." The woman was friendly, the dining room is clean. It is inside an "eh" strip plaza and it isn't the prettiest on the outside but it is nice on the inside. I recommend stopping in because they have great food for decent pricing. Strip mall location, easy parking. This is one of my favorite places to grab lunch when I am in the Stratford-Bridgeport area. No matter what you order for lunch specials, they are quite delicious. The service is personal, caring, but without being overbearing. The common restroom is always clean. Four of us arrived early at 5:30pm. It took over an hour and a half! There was only one server for the whole restaurant. Even though it wasn't crowded because only three tables were occupied including ours. Each table had two or four per table. Still service was at a snails pace. My appetizer was grossly overcooked which wasn't received well when I told our server. Although my dinner curry was pretty good. I did notice that my dish was smaller then my other two friends that had the same entree. That is really fishy but I didn't point it out to the sever. The po pia and the wontons are good appetizer options to order the sweet garlic sauce they're served with is better than other places I've had Thai food. The drunken noodles come with beef chicken and shrimp and it is so delicious when your craving a good noodle dish, you should opt for spicy it's not too spicy and it really elevates the flavor. Really great Thai food. Have come here several times including recently. Each time, I come away wanting to come back again. The place is non-descript from the outside, but pleasant on the inside. Service is attentive and, importantly, spaced out the dishes right. And its a place that when it says "spicy", it means it. And that's a good thing. Pad Thai - excellent. The food here is on par with some of the best Thai places I've tried. I'm not crazy about the tunnel setup of the restaurant. For some people I'm sure that is part of the ambiance but for me it is crowded and cramped and noisy as well. The service is pretty good and the food comes out quickly. If you just want to eat great Thai food, this is your spot but my advice would be to order takeout and enjoy it off site. Perhaps on a quiet night it could be a good date spot. If it isn't loud and crowded I'm guessing it can be very intimate. It can never be a good business meeting spot if you have documents to spread out. If you're bringing in some big boys or girls you might want to rethink this as a choice as well. I typically order the duck but I've had the whole fish and practically all the curries. They never miss. The portions and prices are reasonable and if you want to try something new the chances are good you'll enjoy it here. I typically like to share appetizers with the table and try a little of everything. We discovered this place by chance a few years back while looking for a new dining experience. We had never had Thai food before, and decided to give King and I a shot. Suffice it to say we were blown away by the freshness and the flavor of the food here, and have been back many times. There have been occasions when the service has been a little... tedious. I'll chalk this up to a different pace in lifestyles, as the folks here in the Northeast can be a bit hurried and impatient (talking about myself here). For the most part the staff have been friendly and prompt. This place doesn't get packed often, but we have seen it happen on occasion. They've done a decent job with the decor considering the location. There are a few things on the menu that don't appeal to my palate (larb, crystal noodels), but the dishes that I do like, I like A LOT! The chicken satay, duck with crispy basil, Ped Grob, any of the curry dishes and the drunken noodles are really delicious! The dishes that have coconut milk, peanut sauce and the accompanying cooking oils aren't the most healthy ingredients you can ingest, but they do create a delicious flavor explosion in your mouth. Definitely worth the extra calories. The pan fried dishes are pretty good, and they also have a surprisingly decent selection of wines (nothing extravagant however). Now we've been to the west coast, and had Thai food that makes anything here in CT seem sub par. However, for this part of Connecticut I'd say King and I is one of the best Thai restaurants in the immediate area (outside of NH). The crap that all of the Asian fusion places try to pass off as "Thai food" doesn't even come close to what you'll get here. Well worth a try. I've always been a fan of King and I even before they did their renovation or opened their location in Fairfield. As other reviewers have commented, it is nondescript - located in a strip mall to the right of Vazzi. It truly was a hole in the wall when I first discovered it years ago that offered outstanding Thai food at a reasonable price. Today, the restaurant is renovated on the inside but the food is equally outstanding. I've tried a number of dishes from mild to HOT and they were all tasty and enjoyable. I've been to the Fairfield location and I've never been as impressed with the food or atmosphere as I have been in their Bridgeport location. That said, the food is good in Fairfield, but if you're indifferent about the location, I would definitely recommend Bridgeport. Check it out peeps! read more

Bad. Pad Thai with gloppy sauce. Ordered take out which I have to do frequently due to my job. The car smelled like @ss and I almost didn't eat the food - wish I hadn't. Awful, over-sauced dish with 5 slim pieces of chicken and undercooked noodles. Asian noodles should be soft, not al dente. Sauce has peanut butter thickness with a face-smashing amount of fish sauce. I had to drive with the windows down for twenty minutes to clear the foot-stench of the food from my vehicle. Poorly cooked, unbalanced food in a small quantity for the price paid. I absolutely love the food here! I feel really fortunate that this was one of my first introductions to Thai food because it sets the bar extremely high. I alternate between Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Pad See Ew but all three are delicious. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal. The Pad Thai is made with a thick peanutty sauce that coats the noodles in goodness. I love the crunch of the sprouts mixed in with the soft rice noodles. The chicken in all three is always juicy and perfectly cooked. We can't have King and I without having apps. We usually get the Thai spring rolls, chicken wotons, and satay. The first two are fried to crispy perfection but are never greasy. The chili served with both would taste great on anything - I wish I could get it bottled! The satay has a delicious marinade and wonderful grill/char-y goodness. I'm in love with the peanut dipping sauce - I need a bottle of that, too. The only downside is that they don't deliver, but luckily Moms lives right around the corner. It never takes more than 15 minutes for the order to be ready.
