This company deserves no stars! The service man initially spent all of 5 minutes diagnosing our ice maker on a Samsung refrigerator that is less than3 years old. He said it needed a new part which would be 400 plus tax. He called us a week later that part came n. Told us it would start working in about 24 hours. We then call him and he told us to empty our refrigerator/freezer and turn off for 24 hours. We did it for 2 days turned it back on on nothing still. We call back they send someone who came out and said oh you need another valve. It's 100 but we will not charge you for it. Mind you they replaced a part that came to over 400 after tax that obviously wasn't the problem. The 100 part came in and they came to fix and again made us empty our refrigerator again and said to call them if this didn't work. Well it didn't work. We call them back out and this time they are at a loss on how to fix. My husband is googling what it could be. They agree that maybe the whole door should have been replaced. Another 278 but owner said that is his cost he would sell it to us for 400 plus labor. After a heated conversation we decided that they will never fix and will dispute charge with our credit card company. They obviously are in the business of charging for unneeded repairs bc they have a disclaimer on the receipt talking about arbitration! We didn't see this initially. The man is a crop. We are out 450 dollars and our ice maker doesn't work. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! I will cost him a lot more than 450 in bad reviews. WE WERE LITERALLY ROBBED!!! All but one refused to come out and look at the issue. most were it's too far or the trip charge will be if we come out.. the tech came out and with i n 5 minutes found the issue in a safety device. it a 2 year old stove,, manufacture problem. found the parts which ate never cheap- installed and it works. they corrected the builder faulty install also. read more

I called King Appliance Service to look into an expensive appliance to have it repaired-the oven was not turning on- so Joseph Boyd came and determined that the electronic card was needed to be replaced even though it was only a few years old. He gave me a $1200 quote plus labor. I got another decent appliance company to come out here to which they replaced a part for $200 and after a few months it is still working. I called Joseph Boyd today to tell him what happened and that I would have been $1400 out of pocket with him, and he admitted nothing nor did he offer to refund me my service call of $69. He said that he was not mistaken and he was not going to refund anything. I believe his assessment was not in tune with wanting to "fix it" but more into the -make money! Taking advantage of a someone he thought my bit the bullet because it was an expensive appliance. Original repair person was on time and diagnosed to problem quickly. When quoted with $400 for repair I mentioned I might just buy new. Was talked out of it as he said it was cost me more and my machine was actually pretty good. Another repair guy comes when parts arrive and makes repairs. My wife complained to me that while he was there she could hear him swearing and struggling with the dishwasher. When I get home I notice he damaged out wall putting it back in. I decided to let it go at first. A couple weeks passed and I went to put the faceplate back on and notice that the flooring underneath was smashed to the back wall and there are random parts laying under my dishwasher. I contact the company and had to leave a message as they only seem to respond to their online appointments. He sent same repair man out that made excuses the whole time and was again unprofessional. I called the owner who said he knows he has a poor personality but is "technically good". And it's hard to find repair people. He left without fixing any of the issues he caused, but before he left he was sure to tell my wife that GE is junk and we should have just replaced it. I addressed with the owner that I would like a partial refund on labor as I would have to fix the wall and did have to pull the dishwasher to fix the floor. He rejected and reminded me I had a warranty on the fixes if it breaks again. I hope this isn't needed as I don't want this company back in my home. The repairs "fixed" the problem, but I assure you that you can find a more professional company somewhere else. My wall oven was malfunctioning. They were able to detect the problem very quickly. Unfortunately, the oven was too old and the necessary part was no longer available. They researched a comparable replacement oven and it was ordered and installed in pretty quick time. Everything was done very professionally. The technician diagnosed the problem on my Frigidaire refrigerator as needing a new control board and quoted a price f $453 to make the repair. I contacted the manufacturer and order the correct part from walmart.com $120. The new control board was installed but the refrigerator refused to cool down. I contacted King Appliance and asked to have another technician sent out or credit my credit card. They chose to refund the cost of the service call. The most troubling part of the service call was that the technician did not examine the refrigerator but simply used a laptop to make the diagnosis. read more

Joe who was the owner of the company presented in a professional and timely manner. He opened our LG refrigerator in the back and was able to diagnose it as a "compressor failure" for which the cost to fix would be around $1200. I am not a refrigerator expert, I don't know if this is an accurate diagnosis. I called Joe Boyd at Kings Appliance Service to repair my ice maker, he looked over my refrigerator and gave me a diagnostics of the wires underneath needing to be replaced a cost of nearly $400.00. A week later when the part came in he and one of his technicians came over to repair the ice maker. Well after three days no ice, so I called and the technician came back spent about an hour or so and said he found the problem that the break was farther up in the wiring so it looked good for about two hours about two hours when about twenty pieces of ice fell and nothing since then. so at the end of next month I'll just buy a new fridge, my fault for not checking out this guy's work first. I regrettably hired this company to connect a washer and dryer at my parents' home. Joe Boyd, the owner, charged me $267.38 to connect the washer and dryer. I paid just over $400 for the washer itself when I purchased it. Unlike other service people, he didn't inform me what the cost would be before he performed his services(connecting a washer and dryer). Because I was in NY at the time, on business, I decided to just chalk it up as a lesson to not do business again with this company;for my appliances, as well as those of my family and friends. His reason for charging me so much was because he supposedly installed new cords or hoses. The hot water never worked on the washer for the first two weeks since King Appliance Service performed their servicing...and now, no water falls whatsoever. I contacted Joe Boyd today, and his response was that he could check it, but if the issue wasn't found to be caused by him, then it wouldn't be covered under "warranty", and he'd have to charge me additionally. If I chose not to have him fix the issue, he stated that I'd still have to pay $69 for having him come out. This man is a fraud. A good business practice is to let your work speak for itself. His less-than-mediocre work speaks volumes. Save yourself the trouble and money, and DON'T utilize this company's services. Your appliances will be left in worse shape than they started. I'm going to purchase a new washer for my parents...consult the BBB, and let all my friends and family in San Antonio know to steer clear of this fraud. read more

A very pricey experience for a 2 minute fix. Joe came out to fix our washing machine and no parts were ordered, just a "disconnect" which would fix the problem. $150 is a pretty expensive fix for this repair that required no parts, just wire cutters to make a snip. Joseph Boyd, owner of King Appliance Service came out to my property to assess a refrigerator issue. His diagnoses was that it was a "Freezer Temperature Control" problem that made the fridge stop cooling. At this point, he never moved the refrigerator to look behind or around, and diagnosed it very quickly. He said that in order to move forward, he'd need to order the part. I agreed, due to his urgency. The invoice that he gave me stated that I must pay for the repair 50%, which included the ordered part and was non-refundable. The next day, I had to cancel the service repair, due to illness (cancer), and asked if he would refund any portion of the the 50% ($193.00), that was paid. He refused. I then called, and in great detail explained the reason for the cancellation, and told him that I understand his no-refund policy, however, because I had already paid for the part, I would like to pick up the part. He refused, adamantly, and stated that because he had paid shipping on the part, I was not entitled to it. He then proceeded to, very rudely, tell me how he didn't care what my medical issues were, and that his business decision was not going to change. HE was entitled to the refund for the part, for his inconvenience, and was going to keep the money for that reason. No repair was ever done; only a diagnosed, which should constitute a trip charge, at most. After a 2nd opinion, which I did not share with him, the diagnoses was completely WRONG. It was a cord in BACK of the fridge, whicH, again, he never even considered. His pressure to make a decision on the repair was unprofessional, and his ability to take advantage of a person who is CLEARLY ill, is a stark example of the kind of person who should not work with the public. I recently used this company to repair my washing machine. Even after four visits and two VERY expensive parts, they never actually got it running correctly again and they refuse to admit it. They refused to issue even a partial refund or buy back their parts (because they say the parts are now "used.") I had to replace the washer altogether. This repair company values timeliness far more than expertise. The technician, who is the owner, wasn't able to properly diagnose the problem, even though I told the office when I scheduled the service that the machine was giving me a code of "nd" which means, not draining. He first repaired the door lock telling me that was the reason my washer wouldn't drain or spin and that would fix the problem. After he left, I ran a load and the washer gave me a code of F/dL (door lock failure). Humm....he had just fixed that. I opened the door and found that each screw was loose and one was completely gone from the hinge side of the door. I called the company immediately and was told that the technician would not come back and I had to schedule another service call. Later, when I spoke to the technician about this he told me that he was going by what I told him and if he came out again and found a different problem he would charge another fee in addition to the $397.00 I had already paid him. I replied that he was the technician and should have properly diagnosed the problem in the first place. He said, "The machine was working when I left" and reiterated that he would charge for the service call of he found a problem other than the door lock. Of course he would find a different problem since he had obviously repaired a part that wasn't malfunctioning in the first place. I argued this with him as well as my point that he only ran it through a spin cycle and if he had taken the time run a full cycle he would have known he hadn't fixed the problem. He argued that his schedule was very tight and some other nonsense about timelines. I gave up on him at this point. Do yourself a big favor and DO NOT CALL KING for any appliance repair. read more

I wish I'd checked Yelp before I asked Joseph Boyd to look at my washing machine. He came in out of the rain with muddy shoes, no greeting and asked where my machine was. Less than 3 minutes later, he stated it needed a $368 part. When I said I needed to decide whether to fix it or buy new, he said fine, that will be a $69 service fee. When I handed him my American Express, he refused it saying he only took Visa or MasterCard. All of this would have been helpful to know up front. Later when I went back to the laundry room, I found that he hadn't bothered to move the machine back. His customer service is nonexistent and his prices are high. They came to repair my Samsung refrigerator. They claimed to be qualified to repair Samsung. They said the problem was the fan motor and they would have to order the part. I had to pay half before they placed the order then they would be back to install. They also said it could also be the control panel on the front but worst case it would be around $500.00 but they expected it to be $370.00. They came back, installed the fan and then said "Sorry, it was the compressor also and they could not refund my $370.00." So, $370.00 and no working refrigerator. Enough said. read more

After repairs were made to the referenced washer, I noticed the following damages. A dent on the body of the washer, a crack and scratches on the door. We have been pleased with service in the past and is why we decided to contact King Appliance company for the most recent repair. I went ahead and took photos of the damage and emailed it off in hopes of getting a quick response to the problem...no response ! I thought maybe the email just got lost so I went ahead and sent it off again...nothing. I called my husband and told him that I had not heard from King Appliance , so he decided to get involved. (The following conversation is from my husband) I called King Appliance and spoke to the lady that answered and explained my frustration to her about our now cracked, dented and scratched washer. She was very nice and said that she would let JOE BOYD , the maintenance guy who worked on the washer, know of our concerns. JOE BOYD called me back to let me know that he had seen the photos and that there was no way that he could of damaged the washer like that . He went even further to say that he showed the photos to a colleague of his and they reaffirmed that in no way he could of done that damage. Obviously the reason why we did not get a call from the first 2 emails we sent Joe BOYD was he was too busy covering his tracks by finding another person to agree with his opinion. JOE asked me ,"What do expect me to do ?". I said that I wanted King Appliance to repair the damage back to the way it was before he started working on it. JOE BOYD told me, "that's not going to happen !" and hung up. I then called the lady back at the store to explain to her what JOE said , and then everything changed with the nice" customer service". I was told that they fully trust their employees and that in no way would one of them lie about damaging something. So basically they are calling me and my wife liars. It sure is funny that we would call a place back after they had fixed our dryer 1 year ago and then have them come repair our washer, oh and then falsely accuse them of damaging our washer. I am extremely unhappy with JOE BOYD and the way King Appliance rallies behind their employees based on what they say. The Right thing would be to investigate the problem, make sure the customer is happy , and chalk it up to the price of doing business. Instead , you have a very unhappy customer that will tell everyone NOT TO USE KING APPLIANCE , and if you decide to use them, do not let JOE BOYD work on your appliances. I am in an industry that is directly related to residential and commercial real estate and will make sure that I let everyone know the horrible experience that I had. One final note, JOE BOYD decided to call me back again today to let me know that he got a third opinion......REALLY !!! Sounds to me that GUILT is running RAMPID !!! read more
