Got the soft shell crab appetizer to split among 4. It was very tasty. The seasoning was simple, it reminded me of salt & pepper shrimp. We also shared combo 1 and added 1lb of snow crab (two clusters). The House Cajun sauce was good, but heavy on garlic/"jarlic" and could have been saucier. Next time I'd ask for/order a side of extra sauce for dipping. The dish could have used more than 2 (halves) or corn on the cob. Everything in the boil tasted good! Some other highlights: 1) there's a shared parking lot to the side of the building as well as metered parking in the front. It was busy when I went, so I parked around the corner- for free. 2) I wasn't a fan of the ordering process. Before I get into why, I'd recommend browsing the menu ahead of time to determine what you want. That said, we had a reservation (on Valentine's Day) and the place was understandably busy. There wasn't a hostess station so we headed to the register to check-in. That's where we learned that before being seated, we'd have to first order (and pay). With how extensive the menu was, and crowded the immediate area was- the process felt a bit chaotic and overwhelming. 3) The space is cute. A good amount of tables, and simple but cute decor. After being seated, staff stopped by at different points with bibs, gloves, and disposable plates/utensils. 4) Food took a long time to come out, but I won't ding them because again... it was busy. However, having to remind and re-remind staff of missing items (rice, garlic bread) did leave an unfavorable impression. My hope is things are more buttoned-up on an average day. That said, while I'm giving grace for the cons I still rate it as okay. I'd be down for giving it another shot during a non-peak period to see if the experience is better or the same.

Went to King Cajun for my birthday dinner because I was craving seafood. It did not disappoint! We ordered Special Meal 3 with King Cajun sauce (all seasonings) at the order counter and we each got a beverage with it - I believe it was only cans or a water bottle. They don't serve alcohol and while you order at the counter, the servers did a good job refilling our waters. There's a small parking lot on the west side of the block that had plenty of parking for the businesses. Make sure to wear something you're comfortable getting messy cause I definitely walked away with a butter-stained sweatshirt!

Had a really good experience at King Cajun today! The food is always great. We got a variety of things with shrimp and squid boil along with the fried soft crab platter. All the food was delicious and the wait staff was also helpful. The restaurant is a little cramped, but it's OK. The decorations inside give a crabshack feel, I love the giant shark! Definitely recommend trying this place out.

My friends took me here for a late birthday dinner and the place did not disappoint. All of this amazing food fed three grown adults (two full grown hungry men). The service was efficient and friendly, always topping our waters off and making sure each table was good. All of food was very yummy and flavorful. The catfish and wing basket was coated and fried to perfection, same thing goes with the fried oysters. The vibe inside the restaurant was cute and spacious allowing you to eat in peace but also close enough to everything! 100/10 would highly recommend.

Had dinner here with family while visiting from out of state. It was my first time trying sea food boil and I made sure to add this place to our list based on the reviews and tantalizing photos. We were not disappointed! Great service,clean and organized space, and everything we needed such as napkins and trash cans were available at our table. We ordered the lobster fries and combo number 2 for the table and it was more than enough to feed 5 people! We even tool left overs home. The fries were crispy hot and delicious with the lobster chunks and garlic sauce makes me hungry remembering them. The seafood was flavourful and so delicious! I especially enjoyed the mussels,corn, and having a side of rice to soak up all the saucy goodness.

My boyfriend and I decided to stop here before an event we had. I love seafood boil and we've been trying new places every time we go! King Cajun has a nice parking lot so you don't have to find any kind of street parking! The inside of the restaurant feels clean and bright and has some goofy decorations that fit the vibe perfectly. You order at the counter or at your table i believe. It is a seat yourself place. The lady who helped us out when ordering was very kind and ready to answer any questions. We got shrimp, mussels, snow crab, and sausage. Every pound of seafood comes with a potato and corn. We ended up with quite a bit. We chose the house mix (all of the options mixed) and medium heat. Everything was DELICIOUS! Nothing tasted fishy, everything was well cooked, it was well seasoned and perfect spice for what we wanted. It was A LOT of food. They give u scissors to cut the crab, a bucket on the table (which i saw a review complaining about this , even though it is at every seafood boil place), gloves, and bibs. My only slightly negative thing i have to say is that it was definitely a little more pricey than other places we have gone and we always get the same combo of things. The sausage seemed a bit more expensive and to get extra sauce was a little steep. Also, their cajun fries were good but i felt as if they could've been more seasoned for being cajun fries. Overall, I would definitely come here again! I love that you can get full crabs unlike other places. I would recommend this place to others

There was parking at the restaurant. It was our first time and there was a sign to order at the front but our server came to us and said we could sit and order. We ended up ordering the combo and lobster fries with the king Cajun sauce in spicy. We had leftovers to reheat and eat at home so the serving was plentiful.

Always drove by this place and finally a chance to try it out. It is metered street parking. The restaurant is pretty much self-serve everything. You order first at the register then they will seat you. When we got there, there was a line and waitlist. We only had to wait about 15 minutes on a Saturday, which wasn't bad. After ordering, it took about 15-20 minutes until our food came out. They have a self-serve table at the entrance. Here you can find water, sauces, bibs, plates, napkins, utensils, and togo boxes. Most tables do have a sauces rack. People who order Togo can grab everything they need here. They do have gloves but the waiter has to bring it. They do not have any crab crackers here but they give u a scissors to cut the claws if needed. Since it was our first time here we decided to share. They do have individual and combo platters. We went with individuals. For every 1 Lb or seafood, it does come with 1 corn and 1 potato. The sauce for the seafood is typical of any seafood broil. Seafood broil- we ordered 1 lb of head of shrimp and 1 lbs of crawfish. This was cooked in the house mixed (everything thing in it) at mild spicy. We ordered 2 clusters of snow crab legs in house sauce with medium spicy. The spicy level was not really spicy for mild or medium. Thought bf would not be able to tolerate medium so we got medium for 1 bag but it wasn't bad. Some places medium can be really spicy. They do have regular hot sauce on the side to dip if needed. 3.5/5 I really like that this place leave the seafood in a bag which I prefer over in a plate like some other places. I feel like it keeps the flavor in. However, I don't like that there was not enough sauce in the bag. I wish they really drenched the bag. So it was a little disappointing. Got an order of Cajun fries. I've have a fair share of Cajun fries from seafood broil and this definitely did not taste like the typical Cajun fries. Nothing about it was Cajun. Tasted like fries with some seasoning on it. It was crunchy and sauce was good. 2/5. Overall not a wow experience for me. The seafood was normal. Nothing really special. Sauce was ok. Probably had better sauces at our places. Everyone was nice and helpful here. May come back Tuesday-Thursday to try their combo platter special. Seems like a great deal though!

The food was less than. I ordered the family on NYs Day through DD. The lack of sauce was mind blowing. Literally had to left all the food and scrap the bottom for sauce. I only gave them a 2 star because the level of spice was perfect. Other than that, no, never again for that price. The Luscious Crab has the same menu item for less! My daughter wanted a sea food boil for her birthday so we did some looking around and landed on king Cajun. The Cajun wings are a 10/10 my son is 4 and ate 5 to himself. My daughter got the seafood boil with a cluster of crabs and shrimp. She loved it she says 8/10. I tried the lobster fries which I give a 7/10 overall great experience and great service. My boyfriend got the lobster fries but didn't like them and they swapped them out for wings. read more

King Cajun is the place if you're craving seafood! The establishment was clean and we appreciated the "help yourself station" for anything you'd need for a great boil experience. You'll find tons of great options on the menu - however it is a bit pricier than other seafood boil places. Staff was friendly and service was fast. Although the space is small, it is very family friendly. We look forward to dining here again! read more

May not be a surprise but this place is obviously not Trans friendly. I'm not Transexual. I am intersex but I constantly get treated as if I am. The dude at the front was rude to me and polite to all the people around me. Whatever, the only difference is how we look. Bogus, that shit was definitely some subconscious hate and ruined my appetite. Music is pretty wack too I'm gonna be honest, but super dope that they do the whole overly expensive seafood for poor service and a trash can on your table. Definitely would not recommend for Queer people that are not passable by colonial standards. read more

After several months of wanting to try this place, we finally decided to dine-in here. The restaurant is clean and has a fairly open layout. Everything is self-service, which I think is great. The employees were friendly and quick to provide service. We ordered 3lbs I'd crawfish and 1lb of shelled shrimp with head on. We chose the house sauce for both. To our surprise, the crawfish were HUGE and very meaty, which is a plus. The shrimp were pretty normal sized for seafood boils. The seafood itself was good, however, we were super disappointed in the house sauce. As we took the first bite of seafood boil, my husband and I both looked at each other in disappointment. The sauce was very bland and tasted almost watered down. The sauce and seafood were not seasoned well. Typically, corn soaks up the sauce, but even the corn tasted extremely bland. I dont know if we maybe just got a bad batch, but we were highly disappointed. Not sure if we will return to try again. read more

Having been to many of the Seafood Boil resturants in the Twin Cities King Cajun definitely finds itself highly rated on the list! The quality and quantity of seafood for the price is on point the seafood was perfectly cooked the snow crab was easy to crack and the meat was super tender and flavorful. They offer a wide array of sauces, we tried the King Cajun, which is a mix of all the sauces together and had a great amount of flavor going on. The potatoes, corn and sausage were all tasty and well cooked. While they might not be the cheapest Boil spot around you certainly get what you paid for at King Cajun. We will be back ready to stuff ourselves with more delicious seafood! read more

I will absolutely be back! This was the best seafood with a cajun flair that I have had in the metro area. My date and I ordered the Meal #3 and it was perfect for the two of us! I love the many options, the fresh seafood, and the excellent taste of their house mix sauce. Lastly, this place ensures their guests can get down and messy if need be - they provide bibs, gloves, lots of napkins and more. Can't wait to eat at King Cajun again! read more

Crawfish size is solid and enormous! Ordered takeout, make sure to double check your add ons are included at pickup. I wish the consistency of the shrimp size were all the same. The gumbo had mini shrimps. We all love a good crisp corn included! If you go during busy hours be prepared to circle the area a couple times for parking. This area has other popular businesses around. read more

This is a heck of a place to go! The initial setting of restaurant is different where you order at the cashier. Then you are seated with bottle of waters and your equipment to eat your meal. The food comes out 10-15 minutes after we were seated. It was very good flavor. We also ordered a side order of rice and garlic bread. The rice was sooo good. Highly recommend using the rice at the end either sauce! Overall great meal!!! read more

I've been waiting for a chance to visit and tonight was it. Celebrating my granddaughter's birthday. From the pictures online the place looks so much bigger. But still has enough seating for a nice crowd. Only not sure if they could handle a full house. We tried quite a few of the fried appetizers and all were very good. Very good calamari and Gator. Excellent Catfish. Good shrimp balls. But the Hush puppies were lacking in taste. All with very good dipping sauce. They were out of a good number of them. They were also out of my of the pop. All they had was diet Mt Dew and diet Pepsi. They also had Sprite. And water. Because of the kids our seafood wasn't very spicy. Also most of the Boil was a bit overcooked. And that was very disappointing. There was a good quantity of food. Service was excellent. And even with only one person doing ALL the cooking and one bussing and the one taking orders the food did come out in a timely manner. Will I return. I'd like to. I hate that I love food and have had some outstanding Boils in Charlotte so I may be a little picky here. I do recommend this place. read more

Pretty good cajun - could use a bit more heat and seasoning for my taste, but all in all solid. Had the catfish sandwich - basically reminiscent of a po'boy - and the dozen shrimp, both of which were scrumptious if not mind blowing. Recommend for when you have the cajun craving! read more

omg i Love King Cajun!!!! it is the best best cajun seafood restaurant!! I was sooo sad when their old location closed down cuz it building got burned (Thien's Cajun) but they reopen as King Cajun and it is awesome! new location is beautiful, i love the bright colors! nice and clean space Friendly workers! easy online ordering I LOVE the seafood, build your own. the chef's special sauce is so good and you can choose your spice level, i prefer it spicy! ALSO YOU HAVE to get the THIEN's FRIES!! Thien's fries are amazing omg. they are sooo good, i always get my own order of fries all for myself. I love them owned by a super cool vietnamese guy! they should add some specialty vietnamese dishes to the menu Lol so happy to have them reopened yeah! read more

A lot of people recommended this place to and happy they did! Price was pretty good and the portions were huge! We got the two lobster tails (26.99) and combo meal for two (59.99). Everything was brought out on one big plate. We got our seafood in house special sauce medium spice and the sauce was so flavorful, but would go up another level of spice. The seafood was perfectly cooked, hate it when seafood is over cooked and they did not overcook anything. The place was super clean. Fun fact, this place is Vietnamese owned and the owner was so nice as well as the staff. read more

First time here. My church members invited my family and I. So it was a big group of about 12 people. We order the family special (one spicy and non spicy). Customer service wasn't good to start off with. Thank God for remind me to keep my cool. I usually don't get mad easy but it's always a long Sunday. We had an employee name Kim; her tone of voice wasn't nice. She acted like she didn't want to deal with a big group today. It has only been 1:30pm. I'm saying because Sunday is always a busy day for my husband and I. But I won't be giving anyone attitude just because it been a long half day. Another employee name Jenny came in to help and take over. She was so sweet and kind. It made my first time experience at this place better. Food was good and Jenny made it better. Another employee name Saruda took our order. She was so patient; as it was our first time. I enjoy her calm attitude. If I came back again I only hope to get them again not Kim. read more

This place is awesome! We got 1 lbs of crawfish, extra spicy with the king cajun seasoning(my favorite) and then the other one was the $22 plater. Honestly it is top notch seafood boil in minnesota!! the inside was clean and they have everything you need to get down! Although street parking was limited you will have to park in the neighborhoods and walk. No reservations unless more than 5 people as well. Place is nice, friendly, and helpful ! read more

I would like to start off by saying that crab boils are my favorite type of food in the whole world. I've had the opportunity to try lots where I'm from, which is Idaho, one in Hawaii, one in Tucson, Arizona, and one in New York, all of which are amazing experiences. With so many positive reviews, I thought I would give this place a try! I was very excited to get my food which I ordered through Uber Eats, it got here pretty quickly and when it showed up, it was warm, except for the rice, which was very, very cold surprisingly. they didn't include any napkins or utensils. Since since I'm staying in a hotel, I kind of had to eat out of the bag , which I have no problem with. I got the snow crab cluster with one corn, one potato, and I added an egg, plus of course, a side of rice. Everything was cooked really nicely and the crab cracks great. The huge downfall for me was the sauce .... I'm not sure how other people like it, or if my order was the only one that ended up like this, but the sauce was very sickly sweet, had an odd smell, and it wasn't butter?....It was just pure oil which started to harden on the top. They didn't include gloves, and the oil actually stained my nails, which I just got done. The smell wouldn't come out of my hands for hours, no matter how much I washed. I've had many many crab boils, and I eat them a lot, I've never tasted a sauce like this, or one that was just pure oil with no butter. I really didn't want to waste the food, so I did my best not to let the oil touch the crab, and plugged my nose and just powered through it. I'm very curious if this was just a mess up, or if this is how they make all their boils, and it's just really not my style. ‍‍ read more

As a Southern Californian living in the Midwest, I missed Boiling Crab/Kicking Crab/cajun-style seafood and I can honestly this is what I was looking for. We stumbled on this place as we were driving by and I'm so glad we did, Thein and his brother are doing things right. 200% recommend! Spice levels on the King Cajun sauce are spot on, even as the sauce gets spicier it's full of flavor not just spicy. I eat a lot of spice so we got Hot and that had an after kick of spice not too bad, second order we got side of Super Hot sauce and that was make ur lips red/breathe through your mouth spicy but still SUPER tasty. Shrimp is cooked well, not mushy, not overcooked, Dungeness Crab portion was generous and delicious. Corn was fresh, and andouille sausage was flavorful! Staff is super attentive, they diligently spend down time deep cleaning empty tables, condiments, even wiping down the walls. Food: 10/10 The boiling seafood with chef special sauce is a perfect match for the green mussels, lobster, and King crab--high-quality and delicious seafood. Although the prices are a bit on the higher side, it's worth it for such fantastic seafood in the Midwest. The Lobster fries are a must-try--crunchy fries with creamy and tasty lobster sauce, and real lobster. The Lobster fried rice and Crab fried rice are both so good, I can't decide which one I prefer. Vietnamese dishes are also a lovely addition to the menu. Goi Muc and Goi Tom are refreshing and yummy, and the Crab with tamarind sauce is my favorite traditional seafood dish, with the perfect balance of sour and sweet. The snails are okay, but not my favorite. The space is spacious and clean, perfect for a seafood place. If you're coming with a big group (more than 6 people), it's best to call ahead for a table, as the place gets crowded on weekends.
