This place has long been my go to place for soup. Wonton Noodle soup which is very good and filling. Recently there has been an odd odor to the shrimp (they usually put one large shrimp in the soup) so I have asked them to not include the shrimp. Their Dim Sum is also well prepared and reasonably price. The people working here are very friendly. I have asked about their sandwiches but from what I could understand from the young lady working there they no longer make them even though they are posted as menu item. I haven't been here in years but decided to come in to buy some food for family. 1st off they are NO LONGER tied to the Orignal King Egg Roll on Berreyessa & King and half their menu is no longer available. No more soups. They have maybe 10 entrees to chose from. They now go by the name Royal King Egg Roll, but didn't update their signage. I wish I had taken the extra few minutes drive to Berreyessa. If you've never been here, you have to try the egg rolls. I was tossing up three or four stars, but ultimately landed on four stars since their egg rolls are so good. I also had some dim sum which was decent, but not great. They somehow made an already greasy food item even greasier. Note this is not your healthy trans fat meal option. Come here if you're ready for greasy, but relatively tasty food. I think everything I've eaten here has been pretty unhealthy. It's cheap and a quick eat. I just read someone's review below saying dim sum is now $2.00 an order, which is actually really expensive given other places I go to. If you come here, I recommend getting the egg rolls and nothing else really. Given the amount of fat and grease, you probably don't want to eat this more than once a month (even that is probably too much) unless you're ready to take some serious years off your life. After I eat here, my pores leak grease, and I feel my heart struggling to pump blood through my arteries. There's a small parking lot, so it can be a mess parking here. It can also get pretty loud and crowded inside (I'm Asian, and you know how it is when a bunch of Asian people get together in a smallish setting). I haven't tried anything else so this review is for my three visits to pick up veggie and pork eggrolls, both of which are fairly tasty and not too greasy, especially for eggrolls. The service is okay but not great. I think they get slammed with orders for dozens (sometimes hundreds) of eggrolls and they cannot keep up. I suggest pre-ordering, if they happen to answer the phone. Even after I ordered for a specific pick-up time, I still had to wait around 20 minutes. Love this place and always have, must be the msg in the food? You have to go in early if you want any of the steamed items, by the end of the day they are sold out. They only make so much so when they sell out they are done. They take credit cards now, it use to be cash only. I never have been disappointed in any of the food here and give a recommendation for the fried chicken wings. They are huge, most likely hormone filled too, but they are fried perfectly crispy. I have been a long lasting customer here and would normally state this place is a solid 5 star but not today. The general-mango helped me first stated that the dim sum I wanted want there like normal since I always order a large quantity. Told him I am willing to wait with him also apologizing not even some of my items were even out since it wasn't busy all day. I'm giving this place a 4 star because of the service. We called and ordered a tray of 30 egg rolls about 2 hours before pick up time. We specially said we would pick up at 12pm. We arrived at around 12:05 and our order was not ready yet, which is confusing because they are known for egg rolls so you would think they'd have some ready at all times. Ordered food for a company and right when i ordered off the phone the lady told me to hurry up bc they are busy(the call was less than 5 minutes) I had the lady repeat the order to me 3X bc she was talking to fast and she was not understanding that she was not talking clearly. Then when our driver went to pick up the food and brought it to the company , they messed up our order by giving us the wrong party tray, And when speaking over the phone to complain i had even asked the lady if she wanted the fried chicken back and she said no its ok you can keep it and pick up the eggroll since that was there mistake . If we had to pay for the eggrolls then i wouldnt have sent my driver the 2x and been done there. Called this location 30 minutes prior to pickup. I actually thought this was the King Eggroll located off of Berryessa near the San Jose Flea Market, but this is the one closer to SJSU. We were on our way to a Christmas party and I guess we didn't realize it was potluck. We were coming from San Ramon and didn't have time to stop anywhere else. The lady said you can only order on the phone if you pay over the phone or else you'll have to order in-store. Since we were in a rush we payed by phone but it was kind of difficult to understand the lady when I was giving her the credit card number. Anyway, the order went through and by the time we got there our order was ready to go! 30 pieces of chicken eggrolls cost $29 and with tax $32. Pretty expensive at over $1 a piece but it's good quality. You have the option of chicken or veggie eggroll and it doesn't cost more if you want meat. The place was actually bigger than what I thought it would be and it had plenty of seating. I didn't get a chance to look at their entire menu but it looks like it would be a good place to get lunch or dinner. Service was friendly when we were picking up our order. I know the other King Eggroll joints are better, but both places did not answer my phone call when I called them multiple times. Knowing that the Milpitas King Eggroll was less busy, I jumped into my car (15 mins prior to my potluck) and ordered a tray of 12 eggrolls and 12 shrimp balls. 12 eggrolls and 12 shrimp balls was around $27 including tax. $27 would the amount if I had to cook something from scratch. It also took them around 3 minutes to order and wrap the tray for me. They also included free sweet and sour sauce. My job for the potluck was easy thanks to them. Easy and fast. (1) Eggroll length is as long as your hand and half the width of your hand! DANG! That's a might gigantic eggroll! Unless you got tiny midget hands then double that. (2) Affordable for the quantity and quality. That sucker is packed with meat and veggies! Every bite is gushing with savory flavor, and the crispy flour wrapper is perfectly crunchy. (3) Bomb sweet 'n sour sauce. It never feels like there's enough sauce because you have to drown that fried sucker in that sweet sauce mm. Some inconveniences are that parking is terrible and they take cash only, but you have to realize you're in a very Vietnamese, Asian-oriented area where it's immensely populated and many places only want your cold, hard dough. Coming to the Story/McLaughlin Area and treating it like it's supposed to be some 5 Star Michelin restaurant-- you're going to be severely disappointed haha and the service around here is notoriously "Asian" aka non-existent. So just go with the flow! Their other items of Chinese foods, dim sum, and BBQ are also very tasty!
