Prices have gone up, and they're still stingy as hell on the sauce, like c'mon, its not that expensive to make the sauce... Service here is about being fast, and efficient..you come in you get out. On a side note, I seen a lady reuse a paper bag over and over, when a customer changes their mind..omg that's kinda gross. I'm all for recycling and sustainability, but it's just a paper bag, and it soaks up oils from other food.. Therefore when you bag another item in it, it doesn't taste the same! Needless to say, I was the one stuck with the thrice used bag for my eggrolls. King Eggroll is great for parties. The chicken, shrimp balls and eggrolls are great for parties. You can order a big pan and pig out when everyone is drunk. Of course, when you're drunk you're self control isn't so great, so you'll end up eating way more greasy eggrolls than you should. I've never had anything but the three mentioned party platters, so I can't really say anything about the rest of the food. Too be honest, it has never looked appetizing enough to try. read more

Only thing is if you place a large order to go, make sure that you are prepared to wait 15-30 minutes as they do not make your order before you show up, even if you call in. The Egg Rolls were crispy and crunchy (not soggy like some I've had) and tasted delicious! They were aggressively seasoned in a good way and every bite packed a flavorful punch. We also ordered the Fried Shrimp Balls which were very good, even better than at most dim sum places. Lastly we had the Fried Xui Mai, which were pretty good. The food here is good but I prefer the Lundy locations taste. They are not that much different but Lundy is better. Also this location is a madhouse with no organization. You have to stand in a line to order, then stand in a line to pay and then wait around for them to call your number. Once the don't call your number you go up and show them your receipt. They look around and can't find anything so they ask you what you ordered. They grudgingly give it to you thinking you have just ripped them off. If you're from SJ, you know about King Eggroll because at Asian parties or potlucks, someone probably bought a tray or two from this place. They do take phone orders but make sure to give them enough notice. I'm not sure if I just got really lucky but on New Year's Day I ordered 3 trays over the phone around 7 AM and then picked up the food at 8:30 AM no problem. The food is pretty consistent and tasty if you're into all that fried and greasy goodness. The popular orders would be the shrimp balls (my favorite), the eggrolls, sesame balls, and fried chicken. They also have main entrée options such as broccoli beef, sweet & sour pork ribs, mixed vegetables, orange chicken and much more. These are offered in big trays which are great for parties and potlucks and are usually a hit. They do serve food for dine in where you can order at the counter but is typically is crowded so I suggest you take it to go. They also have the hanging peking duck and pig on the other side of the counter, and I usually get a pound or two for my mom when I'm in the area. It is a bit of a challenge communicating with some of the workers but if you're a veteran of the area, you get it and don't expect exemplary service, they get the food right and get you in and out as fast as possible. read more

My family and I have been going to King Eggroll for years but at a different location and I have not been there for ages so for Superbowl Sunday, I wanted some of their fried chicken and spring rolls (yes spring rolls not eggroll). Found this new location near my parents house so I decided to go there. But I decided to call in first to see if I can get my order to go faster because I know how long the wait usually is. I called and the lady on the phone said that they can't do phone order today and that I have to walk in the order. OK Drove here but got stuck at the light for a long time because everyone was trying to get in. Sheesh. I thought I wasn't going to get parking with how small the parking place is, but I did finally got a parking spot at the far end which I didn't mind because everyone was trying to squeeze in the front parking spots. Walked in and waited to order my food only to be directed to a different line. When I did finally get to order, I was disappointed that they don't have CHOW FUN party tray. BOO.. so I ordered 30 piece wings for $14.50 and a small tray of spring rolls ($14.25). Price isn't bad. So I waited and waited and waited. Numbers were being called, but my number wasn't being called. I thought that they had misplaced my order, but I was patience. Finally! However, this line moves quickly and within moments I'm in and my senses are filled with the welcoming aroma of fried golden goodness. I hear people ahead of me responding to questions by the staff with numbers- fifteen, twenty-five...seventyfive?!?! Yes along with a few other dishes, customers are getting what they know to be the best here, the eggrolls-and lots of them. Don't even get any of the other stuff here as I remember they provided a lot of dim sum foods and miscellaneous things. It's not worth it to begin with and the food actually tasted like they've been sitting around for awhile, hoping to be eaten one of these days. You should only be spending your money on the egg rolls here. If I recall, they were about $0.50 each, but oh man, were they tasty. The skin is very crispy and you can even taste some of the grease still tightly packed in there. And inside is jam packed with a lot of meat and other goodness that I can't identify. It's just so rich in flavor compared to any egg roll I've had elsewhere in the US, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Back in the day, this place was hopping and I really liked its bare bones concept. When I walked in, I noticed that there were fewer tables, like they didn't want people dining in. This is the worst place EVER! I ordered the 2 item special with noodles. I got the kung pao chicken and the sesame chicken. When I went to the counter to pay, I saw egg rolls up at the front. I asked the clerk if they had shrimp in them because I can't eat shrimp. I'm allergic to shell fish. She assured me they had no shrimp but failed to tell me that some of the other food they offer, does have shrimp. The noodles have shrimp and so does the rice. The right thing for her to do would have been to ask what else I had ordered to make sure I wasn't getting something I couldn't eat. King Egg Rolls many establishments can attest to its fame in the bay area. You know you've heard of it somewhere and may have even tried it without knowing. They cater so it's at all the family gatherings if you're ghetto like that. This is the definition of deep fried heaven. A huge menu with all sorts of fried foods, dim sum, chinese plates, and bbq keeps you coming back for more. The egg rolls contain a filling thats nothing special. It's the exterior crispy and flaky skin soaked in pipping hot oil that gets you good. Not the best i've ever had but pretty damn close. I also had the shrimp balls which were juicy and plump as well as the fried bananas which were sweet and a little sour. Both were also lathered in oil and highly recommended. King Egg Rolls is structured like a mini-market which gives it its ghetto charm. It's dirty there and the people look really shady. If you can phase all of that out then you're in for a good time. The food is good for a small snack but eating it for a meal will ultimately destroy you and your heart. Extremely cheap...for mere pennies you too may enjoy this oily feast. read more

It might not be the absolute best Vietnamese food you've ever had, but it's good enough. I LOVE the #6 togo combo box with fried rice, BBQ beef rib, THREE SHRIMP BALLS, and one eggroll. The beef rib is deliiiciouuus [/singsong voice] and the shrimp balls are a must-try. And it's only $5.50!!! Other combo meals are $4.50 and $5.50 as well. A good meal for cheap. You can also buy other togo things likes sandwiches (never tried), goi cuon, dim sum, fried chicken, tofu, drinks, whole duck, etc. But I'll just stick with my #6. ;) King Eggroll is a splendid and affordable place to come get your Vietnamese fast food fix. I came here to eat lunch for old times sake, and I think history should not have been revisited! I ordered the chicken chow fun and my dad ordered the king combination noodle bowl. Both were abysmal at best. The prices have definitely gone up for food that should be given out for free! They have done something really extraordinary with the chicken chow fun, by completely transforming a perfectly normal asian delicacy into a salt, MSG, and vegetable concoction with the consistency of porridge. The noodles were extremely over cooked where they would melt in my mouth or on my fork. Many of the vegetables were undercooked and looked to be thrown into the plate as a filler. The chicken seemed like it was just taken out of the orange chicken dish and added in. The noodles were ordinary at best, but came out on a disgustingly wet platter, with the napkins and utensils arriving wet as well from some unknown substance. We ate there since we didn't want our car to smell, but the restaurant itself has definitely gone downhill in the sanitation department. The service wasn't the best, as they only carried over my dad's bowl, while making the chow fun a to-go order. Probably one of the bigger things that urked me was that the siracha bottles seemed deformed and old, and the sauce itself seemed to be blended with something else in order to get a larger volume and save money. By the way, when I got home I threw up as a result of my overconsumption of salt and MSG from the chow fun. If you are wanting to visit this place, please save your time, money, and well-being and go to TK or Saigon Restaurant down the street. Surprise surprise...the EGGROLLS are BOMB. They are huge, crunchy, and hot and it'll only cost you 75cents for one. 2. Not only are the eggrolls amazing but the shrimp balls are equally as good. I went here today seeking decent, fairly fast food since I was in the neighborhood. The stupid woman "helping" me forced me to go and order from the wrong line. Been here enough to know how to order what I'm getting, but she gave me her shitty attitude. (Also been here enough to know better, but my memory had faded over time.) Because she forced me into the wrong line, nobody bagged my VERY SIMPLE, TWO-item order. Waited over half an hour. Watched all kinds of people who came in after me get served much larger orders than mine. Got plenty of opportunity to observe the horrendously stupid, slow, and disgusting customers. Wouldn't you know it, I got to be directly behind some guy with the worst dandruff I've seen in years. I don't know why I hung around even waiting for my order after I'd already lost my appetite and my patience. I think I was so beaten down from the flea market that I was just paralyzed. As usual, after I finally got served, I had to request the sauce to go with my egg roll. Fine, I get that they won't give you EXTRA sauce at no charge, but give me what I do have coming to me in the first place, you sneaky bitch. I was so irritated, I wanted to get the hell out of there as fast as possible (45 minutes). Did I mention I only ordered TWO items? What the fuck? If you know you're this busy, hire enough f*ing help to serve your customers. Period. The bitch actually halfway apologized, knowing she'd royally f*ed up, and I didn't even make a scene. Perhaps she could see from my eyes that I would've gone postal had I had the energy. I opted to eat in the parking lot in my car where some wannabe was blasting rap music w/ lyrics about people of another race that consisted primarily of the N-word.
