Whenever I have to go to Merrimack, I plan my errands around stopping in at King Kone for their delicious soft serve. The flavors change weekly, so check their instagram for the latest ones. The peanut butter is my favorite! During my most recent visit, I had a delectable kiddie size lime/berry swirl cone. Yes-kiddie size because the portions are humongous! My husband got chocolate/mint which was also quite good. Prices are very modest, so make sure you tip the staff well! Note that King Kone is open seasonally. It has a tiny parking lot, which can get filled up quickly when the weather is lovely. Seating is sparse, so many opt to sit in their vehicles.

I a good soft serve. King Kone is on my short list for favorites. This is someplace I could (but definitely should not) come several times a week. The favors vary so check the website if you have have a favorite. I got a baby and it was almost too much. I can't believe people get larger sizes. I had pistachio. So good. There is parking but I hear it is often full. The team is very helpful and efficient at getting those cones out quickly. The vibe is great. You just knows generations have enjoyed the same.

Delicious generously portioned soft serve for the price- fast service. The only downside is there aren't a ton of flavors to choose from

A spectacular small little ice cream stand off of the highway that serves perfectly giant soft serve ice cream. I came on a Thursday afternoon there were a few others coming and going as it was a super hot day. The service was quick and there's umbrella tables for you to enjoy your ice cream. I ordered a small pistachio caramel twist, two different and interesting flavors of soft serve that I haven't had before. I'm amazed at how they have such a perfect consistency that keeps the swirl to go up to high. I would absolutely stop here again as they have weekly rotating flavors. You can always get it in a cup if you're worried about it dripping too much in the cone too. Overall, a great place for a summer treat!

Soft serve only with limited flavors. Large portions so choose wisely. They take cards. A few tables out front. Looks like they serve food. The chocolate mocha frappe was just ok so I'll chock that up to soft serve vs hard ice cream for the lack of flavor. Eating more like a 3.5. Worth a stop if you are craving soft serve.

For such a small ice cream stand, King Kone was packed! The line looked long at first, but it moved incredibly fast -- so fast that my daughter had her ice cream in hand before I even finished paying for the rest of the family. The service was impressively quick and friendly. They accept both cash and credit, which is convenient. I ordered a small hot fudge sundae, and it was so generously sized it felt more like a large! Great value for the price. The only minor downside is that they offer fewer than 10 softserve ice cream flavors, so choices are a bit limited -- but everything we tried was delicious. They also serve food, which is a nice bonus. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

One of my friends recommended this place when I mentioned we were visiting NH & ME. It wasn't exactly on the way to anything but we had fun incorporating it into our route. We both tried the orange mango flavor of the day. I added crunch which was great. The hot taco reminded me of something we might have for a weeknight dinner growing up. Definitely American style, not terrible.. wish I would have asked for sour cream. We both struggled to finish our small ice creams. I should have seen the smaller sizes! ‍ Loved how classic this ice cream spot is.

Had ice cream every day of our east coast trip and some local friends recommended here. Fun road side stand that had patio tables glad we stopped!

This is my favorite soft serve place! The kiddie is huge (like a large most other places) and the flavors change weekly, with the staple vanilla, chocolate, and twist always available. I can't speak to anything other than the soft serve, but if that's what you're looking for, look no further!

TL;DR: Best God Damn Ice Cream I've Ever Had…read more Ice Cream: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Decor: 5/5 New Hampshirites eat the most ice cream per capita of all fifty states in this great Union, and being born in the Live Free or Die I'm well qualified to say that this is some of the best god damned ice cream I've ever had. Needed my fix of proper New England sweet frozen cream while back in the Olde Country for Christmas. I'd just finished up at the outlet mall just ten minutes away, and after all the boasting to my new wife about how superior NH Ice Cream is to the rest of the plebian horse shite out there, I needed a place to prove my point. Enter Hayward's, a brand I'd never heard of, nestled in a strange stand-alone establishment off a strip mall on Route 3. I sauntered into their sleepy scoop-room (which I should mention has a drive-thru if you're in a rush), and their staff were absolutely enamored--ENAMORED, I tell you--that I chose their creamery as my proof that New Hampshire ice cream is superior to all else. My wife ordered the black rasberry and I ordered my favorite, cookie dough. You can usually judge the mettle of an establishment by either flavor. Black Rasberry is exceptionally difficult to get right--too much rasberry, you have cough syrup. Cookie dough less so, but if you over-sugar your dough then you're dunced and liable to get a cavity to boot. Our girl came right up. We asked for one scoop each and got a veritable pound of ice cream in each cup. Live Free or Die portioning, God Bless New Hampshire! Damn the calories, full speed ahead! We sat at the pleasant, functional bar seating they had and began to devour our cups. The Black Rasberry is the best god damned Black Rasberry I've ever tasted in my life, and I've tasted Black Rasberry from Seattle to Scranton. The Cookie Dough was generously portioned with dough morsels, and an extra helping of chocolate chips for good measure, neither too sweet. I'm from the eastern part of the state and only go there on holiday; Merrimack is forty five friggen minutes away. But you better bet your last lemon drop that I'm trekking my way out to this excellent establishment! Ten out of Fucking Ten will drive 45 minutes for Haywards. Update: I drove 45 mintues out there again. 10/10 staff still enamored. 10/10 Ice Cream still good.

As far as ice cream parlors go, Moo's is legendary amongst Derrians (not sure if that's a term…read moreused, but I'm going with it) for their high quality, damn near luxurious style of frozen pastries. If I could describe Moo's in only two words, they would be: quality control. Funnily enough, I rarely go here. In fact, I haven't had the Peanut Butter Cup ice cream in YEARS! I had nearly forgotten how smooth and creamy their ice cream is. The way they can make vanilla ice cream also taste peanut buttery is a feat familiar only to magicians and wizards. In other words, their stuff is just THAT good! Ultimately, I'm glad wifey talked me into coming back here on a whim. It's just that I'm hardly ever in the mood for dessert of any kind. But every once in a while....I get a sweet tooth for something with peanut butter in it. And now that my taste buds have been reminded of the elegance this ice cream effortlessly carries, I think I can manage to find an excuse to come here slightly more often. Only problem is they're mainly open during the warmer months. But....I totally get why. It's just a shame I failed to take a pic of the ice cream, since I was too lost in the abyss of ecstasy that was my sweet treat. Besides, I didn't want it to melt. Ah, well. Might remember next time. One last caveat: they don't really have their own parking lot. So, you just kinda....pull into one of the adjacent lots on either side of the place and hope you find a spot. Mildly dubious parking aside, I'm gonna give Moo's Place in Derry 5 Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cups smoother than a Milky Way out of 5.
