King Kone just feels like summer to me. Giant soft serve portions, even down to the kiddie size, which is enough to feed most adults for dinner, which is often what we do. Cash only, but you don't need much. It's not like most ice cream stands where you blow 30$ on a few cones. Great nostalgia stop due to the building and signage and the basic ice cream menu that has the standard flavors as well as a bunch of rotating specialty soft serve flavors to mix it up. I just purchased a "small" in a cup with jimmies for $4.45 and it was smaller than the person who bought 2 "kiddie" sizes before me. As you go larger the quantity increases, and although the large will certainly fill you, it is also $8.55 with jimmies. That's $10.00 with tip for a soft serve ice cream cone. I suggest anyone in the area to reverse directions about 3 miles and go to "The Big One" in Merrimack. They may not have as many varieties, but their quantity and quality is comparable if not better and you don't have to rob a Brinks truck before ordering. read more

Firstly, the parking is tiny. Such a pain to get anywhere near this place when it is busy. There is no seating areas anywhere apart from two benches which conveniently reside right next to the line of people waiting to get ice cream. Multiple times that I have visited, the ice cream has been rather inconsistent, with the regular change of milk. The place is ran by kids, to which it becomes highly disorganized and chaotic. The cleanliness is my biggest concern, you have a mixture of hot and cold food which firstly isn't what you want. It's a mess....an absolute mess out back. The tiny space mingled with all the functions of an ice cream hut has resulted in the place looking like a pig sty. I wouldn't let my dog eat off the counters that they make your food. Ice cream and milk everywhere. No washing of hands when dealing with different types of food. I am surprised a health inspector has not paid a visit. Many on here that rate this highly would most likely think again when they take a peak in the hut next time they are ordering. I did....never going there again. read more

Love this place! My favorite flavors are the lemon and lime whenever they have either. We got our pup a doggie cone, vanilla ice cream with two milk bones on top, which was super cute. I was short a few cents, and they said it was no problem. Nice people, yummy soft serve. read more

Even the girls selling GS cookies took credit cards with a phone ap. 3). Ran out of vanilla ice cream. Finally found parking, walked up and then after standing in line was told cash only, my bad for not seeing the 4x2 brown napkin with small pen writing. Leave to find an ATM... return and after finding another spot, waiting in line, again... informed they ran out of vanilla. It's getting harder to support local owners like this when it's less convenient, service doesn't care because they live on the volume of people who either don't want frozen from a store, don't want to fight traffic to drive to DQ, or will pay nearly $15 for two cones. I grew up across the street, er, highway, from King Kone. Many an afternoon was spent gripping my little brothers hand and dodging cars on DW just to get tacos and ice cream before Mom got home. Childhood obesity what? Ok, the cones are way oversized -- but I love ordering a kiddie Twist with Jimmies and being able to share it. The tacos are greasy and good -- but so not authentic. You're in Merrimack silly -- what do you want? The hot dogs are ok - steamed if I remember correctly. Chili dogs are good fuel. My fondest memories will always be having the woman (owner's wife actually) being on a small wheeled chair -- sliding back and forth from the windows taking orders and barking them out behind her. Came here at 8:45pm on June 12. There were 4 teenage staff members crammed in the small building, and not a single one was wearing a face mask. This goes against every COVID-19 guideline for a food service establishment issued by both local & federal government, and the CDC. Best Soft Serve! Although sometimes the line can be a mile long and take forever, in the end it's always worth it. Only complaint is that their prices seem to have gone up. (The only other awesome Soft Serve place I will give 5 starts is the Piazza in Keene, NH) Overall, the portions are worth the money you pay, they have interesting flavors available throughout the summer. They always have vanilla/chocolate and usually have 2-3 flavors besides that. (Banana, Peanut Butter, Mint, Black Raspberry, etc) As far as ice cream, they also have "Frazzles" which are basically like the Dairy Queen Blizzard...these are also good. They also have hot dogs (steamed, not that good) and Tacos. The Tacos come in a hard shell, with beef, cheese, lettuce and mild, hot, or very hot sauce. I know it might seem weird to get a taco at an ice cream stand but trust me, do it! They are really good and nothing can beat a King Kone Taco and then an Ice Cream for dinner! Only down side is that you usually get your ice cream first so if you get a taco and ice cream in a cone, you have to do some damage control first to prevent major melting. I honestly don't think a normal human is able to eat the large cone before it melts... well, maybe if it's like 32 degrees outside you could make it happen but dang it's huge! Be aware that this is a cash only ice cream place but I don't think they have anything over $6 on the menu. All of the ice cream is soft serve with custom flavors changing on a regular basis. They also have tacos, hot dogs, and corn dogs. The're okay... I would recommend buying one just to help even out your blood sugar from the giant cone you are about to eat! With a name like "King Kone" expectations are high. If it was "Vicount Cone", I wouldn't be so judgmental, but it isn't. Oh yeah... I gave it 5 stars. They have great creamy soft serve! Best In the area. Seeing as I think they are also the only place that has soft serve in the greater Nashua area that isn't Dairy Queen, it's not that big a deal. That being said, it IS very good. Just cold enough to survive a trip back from the counter without melting down your shirt. The sizes are huge. The large is somehow defying physics. How something that soft can maintain structural integrity is beyond me. But it does. The small is more than enough for the average aficionado, but the medium & large don't come with a side of judgement, so indulge if you want to. The toppings are fairly standard. This year is the first time I saw they got into the "mixed blender" of stuff in your cup biz. And again the toppings are typical. It's the ice cream itself that is worth the drive. I love King Kone. I even own a t-shirt. They cones are huge, so beware on the really hot days because anything bigger than a small will probably melt all over you before you get close to finishing. The ice cream itself is great and its really cheap (though prices have risen with the new owners and probably the bad economy). They have some food, like tacos and hot dogs, that I've never tried. We love King Kone...Have been coming here for over 20 years..I do miss the bags of popcorn they used to sell... I went there the other night to get ice cream for me, my husband and my son. The line was long but the staff handled the crowd well by communicating and streamlining the customers. My attendant was nice enough when greeting me but he did mess up my order BUT he quickly apologized and remade the order.. I could see him hussling in the small space they have. I did have to ask for a bag which I was a little surprised by since i said it was to go and I did have 3 ice creams but I was still very happy with the over all service, even with the ice cream mix up. Perfection. Nothing beats King Kone. I've been coming here for... my entire life I think. Always a classic treat. Okay --- I'm a soft ice cream fan and I've been looking for a cone to compare to the fabulous soft ice cream I'm used to in Pennsylvania. Looks like I found something to come close to my expectations. Soft without being so hard that you feel a need to BITE the ice cream off the cone. Creamy . Lick-able.
