My wife and I ate there yesterday. I used to like going to KK cause I would go there alot with my mother before she died. So as I was saying my wife and I went there and the food was horrible. The burgers had no taste and seemed like they were right off the factory floor. My wife's chicken gyro was dry and bland. And sorry to say the fries were already hard after just coming out of the fryer. I was hoping to to have a nice experience there as I used to have there with my mother. Definitely did not. After I got the food home and the order was wrong and the parts of the order that were right were so soggy it was inedible I called the store the next day to complain about paying $60 and not receiving what I ordered. Your typical King Kong experience -- which means you go here for a hearty meal, especially if you're in the mood for burgers and gyros. On my recent visit here, I picked up the sirloin dinner for about $10. They also sold me some fries for an additional $3, which was unnecessary because the dinner comes with pita bread and Greek salad. The sirloin was good, however, and remains a great deal for a fast food steak dinner. I opted for drive through, and it's worth noting the fries were soggy by the time I got home. I've been working in Omaha now for several years, and after watching the commercial for this place over that time period wrote myself a note to finally visit... And it was just Ok. I ordered a Gyro sandwich with no onions... Got it to go so I could go through Airport Security. The sandwich was loaded (as in way too much) special sauce and tomatoes that are way out of season. I heard that one day someone made the mistake of pronouncing gyros like "jy-ros" when ordering and where promptly swarmed by the staff. After a quick double-powerbomb through a table on the ignorant customer, it was decided to feature the correct pronunciation in their commercials. True story*. It's also true that the burgers here are really big; they earn the King Kong name well. I come here hungry (that's the only way) and always think that THIS will be the day that I go all-out and get the insane quadruple two-pound burger. But remembering that I don't want a heart attack not quite yet, I stick with the single half-pounder. That, plus an order of fries, or more than enough to make me think of skipping dinner (if I visited for lunch) or skipping through lunch the next day (if I visited for dinner). The fries are always hot and crisp, and you get a lot of them. The seasoning for the fries is also very good. The burgers, as I've already said, are huge and very tasty. They also don't skimp on the bacon here; if you order it, you will get plenty on your burger. Like I've said in a past review, I hate spending extra money on bacon and getting a puny piece of limp crud bacon that looks...depressing. Not here. You'll get several chunks of big, healthy, All-Varsity, All-American bacon. The food's not cheap, though. You're looking at 5.99 just for a plain burger. They don't do combos here so the fries and drink are another three or four bucks. Right there you're looking at about 10 bucks a person, or 12-13 if they want bacon, cheese, or other toppings on their burger. Can't give the place more than three stars though because of the service. I understand that it's a family kinda place and most (if not all) the employees are Greek (I think) but it would be really, really, really, really helpful if they would place someone proficient in English on the registers. Every time I have been there they have either messed up my order or someone's order near me in line. I've had to dispute over-charges before, as well. I wish I could give zero stars. Worst food experience ever. Worst customer service experience ever. I've been going to King Kong for over ten years and I will NEVER go back to King Kong due to this experience. Yesterday I ordered the top sirloin special cooked medium well for $13.99 in the drive-thru. Medium well is supposed to have just a little pink NOW when I got home and sat down to eat my food it was clear that the steak was rare! Not only was it undercooked but it was also tough when I was cutting it with my knife. I tried a couple of the fries and they were not seasoned. I called King Kong and a lady answered I told her about it and how I wanted a refund she wrote my name and number down and told me the manager would give me a call the next day. I waited and waited. for the manager to give me a call he never did so I took the initiative and called up there. A man picked up the phone and I said: "Hi, may I please speak with the manager?" The man makes a groaning sound. So I asked, "Am I speaking with the manager?" He just groans so I figure I'm speaking with the manager. So I go to tell him about my experience and he rudely cuts me off and says with a heavy accent "I can't give you no refund we are not making much money here. The cooks are great here. You should've checked it before you left" WTF! He didn't even apologize! And I DID check my order before I left and everything was there but how am I suppose to check the food quality? What am I suppose to do cut a piece of steak and taste a fry while in a drive-thru with unclean hands? Then he repeatedly said, "I can't give you no refund, I can't give you no refund!" A hot burger....you can't get that at those big chain burger places. This places makes a mean gyro. They also have daily specials, but their best one is a sirloin steak/salad/greek rice served on Sundays for $7.99. Other than the good food, there aren't many frills. The staff are not usually very friendly, but you only interact with them for a short period of time, so who cares? Usually, the dining room is clean and the drive-thru service quick. read more

This place is probably one of the better fast food experiences you'll have in town, albeit it on the slightly pricier side. I would give it a better score if Yelp was a fast food reviewing website, but alas! Don't let this stop you from trying this bizarre and awesome Omaha staple. They have such an odd selection there and they are not always on their game with all of it, but it is really close to work and I've only been burned a few times out of the countless times I've been there so it will always be a regular lunch choice for me given the dearth of worthwhile options in and around Ralston. I would have to say that while their burgers, phillies, steaks and gyros are pretty dang good, I would suggest to try their greek salad sometime (with any meat you'd like or without) and you will be pleasantly surprised. The vinaigrette on there is pretty incredible and you will get some feta, cucumbers, tomatoes and a few pepperoncinis added in there for good measure. Oh! It also comes with a toasted pita bread to dip into the remainder of the vinaigrette! You can also get a 2lb burger there if you so wish, though If I'm going to burgtown, I always go for the smallest (1/2lb!). The combo of that along with a heaping pile of deliciously crunchy fries usually makes my stomach feel as if it is going to rupture...in a good way... If you dine in, prepare to be confused by the bizarre stuffed gorilla rock band that is set up at the end of the dining room. It is so awesome. read more

My family and I make stops to king kong about every 4-6 weeks. If you are hungry this is the plave to go. There dishes are very large and often times have to take home left-overs. They make good fried and are relatively quick. However, you are not going to King Kong for the qulaity of their hamburgers, steak or Greek food. As there are other Greek establishments that are far and away better than king Kong. The greek salads are big but often times I will get lettuce, feta and olives without any tomatoes or Onions. Remember quantity not quality. The food is OK. There prices have increased over the last few years so the value has declined some. Overall, the food is "just OK, at best" But it it meets a need after spending all day at our kids ball games on our way home when everyone is really hungey and dont want to make something at home. read more

Okay! Warning to the feint of heart. Their King Kong burger is really huge, but very delicious. Apparently this place was started by a Greek cook in the 60's decades ago and somehow he got the right to use the King Kong name and silent movie era pictures as his restaurant decor. The fries are a bit on the salty side, and I highly recommend you tell them to ease up on the salt they put on yours. Also, great gyros here. read more

The daily special we got today was a top sirloin which included steak, a salad, and either fries or rices and potatoes for only $9.99. This was a great deal, and all of the food was very flavorful and well seasoned. We also got my dad a triple cheeseburger (1.5 lbs!). This didn't seem worth the cost ($16.99) but we got it for him anyway. After seeing it, I still don't believe it was worth the cost. This didn't even include fries which we had to pay for separately. The fries were very tasty (just as all other reviewers have mentioned). We will probably try this place again but eat inside the restaurant because they give you more food when you eat there. read more

They have ridiculous drive thru. I had to wait approx 10 mins to put in a order and I was the only one in the drive thru. Once I arrived to their window a Spanish speaking person with strong accent gave me incorrect price. I got my one simple gyro sandwich and the price was $8.31 including tax. That is outrageous price!!! I could have went to MCds and paid for the same but it would include fries and a drink. Food was ok. You can tell it was sat out for a while and it was not hot. I have gotten King Kong before and I always get the sirloin salad. I went in today and got a sirloin salad and the meat was absolutely awful. The meat was clearly old, it smelled rancid, and the texture was gummy. As I was waiting for my order I remember reading the window "check your food, no refunds." Stopped by the King Kong off of 72 nd St in Ralston. In an attempt to help the local business in Omaha. I have seen this guys adds for years. I was the only car in the drive thru so I studied the menu for a few minutes and settled on a gyro plate for my wife and I. A little steep for my world at $13.00 bucks a piece but we need to support our locals right. After picking up the bag and driving home and sitting down for a meal and discovered that we got one gyro plate and another container of a glob of what looked like potatoes, beans, rice and some kind of meat not a gyro plate. Even though we live 15 minutes away I went back to get the meal we ordered. When I got to the window the person was helpful until the "no JYRO - gyro" guy showed up and accused me of lying and stealing from him . I do admit that after I drove all the way to the store and my dinner was cold I did not think it out of line to replace both dinners. I Won't be returning for a less than average meal. read more

I have eaten at and loved this place for years. I will never ever eat there again! I went through the drive-thru and ordered a gyro sandwich which costs a little over $8.00 with tax. When I opened it the foil wrapper instantly burned my hands. This is odd because I eat there all the time and this had never been the case. I noticed an odd smell and tried to bite the meat but was unable to. The meat was ridiculous hard and tough. I am not sure but if I had to guess (coming from a restaurant background) this was from a previous day, week, month, or even year. When I informed them of the problem and asked for a refund they simply said "no refunds". Well they have lost a long time loyal customer. The steak special on Sunday is a great deal and I've had it many times. Today the steak was great as usual with the exception of a substantial amount of visible fat. More fat on a steak than should be and more than I've ever seen on a steak here. Also, the restaurant was filthy. The tables had not been cleaned and I ate off my tray which I hope was cleaner than the table.
