We had lunch today at King Neptune Restaurant. This was our first visit to this restaurant. We both ordered 1 of the lunch specials, which was the Grouper Tacos. The Grouper was a very large portion, dipped in batter, deep fried with a tasty sauce and coleslaw on the grilled soft taco shell. We each received 3 Tacos, with French Fries, and a portion of coleslaw on our plates. Overall the food was delicious!! We will definitely be returning to King Neptune Restaurant!!! read more

I live in the neighborhood and wanted to take some visiting friends for dinner. There were four of us. When we walked in there was a larger table open and we asked if we could sit there. We were told that it was a table for six people and we would have to wait for another table to open. It didn't make sense to me since there was no one sitting there and it was not reserved, but she said it was their policy to not sit less than six at that table. We pointed out that there were tables for four with only two at them. She was firm about the policy and told us to come back in about 35 minutes. We walked around and killed 35 minutes and went back. There were still no foursome tables open and the table for six was still empty. They still wouldn't seat us. We left and we will never, ever go back. It was incomprehensible. read more

Don't miss King Neptune when visiting Stuart. The food is fabulous and locally fresh seafood. I had the Blackened Mahi over Ceasar Salad. I expected a small portion but I was pleasantly surprised. Two of us could have shared the meal. The Mahi was flakey and white and the blackened seasoning was perfectly balanced so it did not over power the fish. King Neptune Seafood is one of those rare culinary dining experiences. However, once you begin to experience the aroma of other diner's entrees and take a look at the menu, you begin to understand this restaurant is different from any other dining experience you've encountered. My husband and I shared 6 oyster shooters. They were nothing short of incredible! For entrees, my Husband had a half pound of fried shrimp. The breading was perfect, not too thick, the shrimp were huge, wild shrimp. He also had a side of cheese grits with his meal. These were also phenomenal! Even the French fries were great. I ordered a listed special, the lobster roll. My meal had beautiful large pieces of lobster with a light mayonnaise sauce base. The lobster was perfectly seasoned and included much more lobster than roll. The fries and cole slaw were also perfectly prepared and very tasty. Excellent food, service and atmosphere! This place is amazing! We are from southern California and asked our friend for recommendation. He had never had anything bad there. We went there for a birthday celebration and also to unwind after a very very busy weekend of work! All we can say is AMAZING!!!!!!!!! We live Neptune!! Been coming here for years. Oyster shooters and cracked conch. Can't. Beat them anywhere. Come either early or late during season it gets crowded fast. You can even bring your own catch and they will cook it how you like it. We do that often in summertime. read more

Great hole in the wall! My only complaint - there's no sweet tea. Is this restaurant in south Florida, or the northeast? Have come here twice and it's always a great experience. Come a little earlier than the dinner rush, otherwise you'll be forced to wait for a table to clear up. The restaurant has only 40 or so seats, but the churn is usually 15-20 minutes. My go-to app is the escargot, but I found out on my second visit that it's only kept on the menu when the snowbirds visit. Damn. If it's here while you're here, go for it; dip the bread into the juice, and you'll write home about it. Otherwise, all the seafood is your generic stuff, except King's ensures that it is fresh (ie. peel/eat shrimp, clams, etc.). Specials: Tuesday is $0.39/clam. Take. Advantage. (!!!) Otherwise, they also offer specials that aren't too new, more just interchangeable throughout the week. Go for the pistachio-crusted maui if you love regular maui (or even if you don't); the crust really adds a heightened flavor ten-fold that still melts in your mouth. I compared it to the regular maui, but they must put something special with those pistachios... Overall, pleasant dinner, better for pairs/duos, trios, or small (smalllll, as in 5 or less) groups. There's no liquor, but pinot would have gone great with all of my entrees. read more

Had a great dinner with lovely wine tonight at King Neptune. We waited for a table for about 1/2 hour but it was worth the wait. We were served some drinks outside and they brought us chips and a bean salsa that was delicious. There are only 8 tables in the place but the service is quick but you don't feel rushed. My husband had some oyster shooters which he loved followed by seafood chowder that was rich and delicious. I got the pistachio crusted Mahi with citrus rice and loved it. My husband got the Shrimp Scampi and he said it was in his top 3 . For dessert a couple we met outside told us to get the pineapple upside down cake which was the highlight of the meal. It was outrageously great. We will go back where I will get an appetizer and the cake and not share. I only gave it 4 stars because the decor could use some updating.
