We saw this place while driving through the cute Port Salerno area. This area is packed with a multitude of seafood restaurants, most of which are on the water. The cute outside tiki style dining area had a bar and a great island type feel. Unfortunately, it was packed, so we chose the inside dining area. Unlike the outside area, which felt quite tropical islandish, the ambiance of the inside dining area was... well let's just say, functional. First let's discuss the service. Our server was fantastic. Explaining the specials, keeping our drinks topped off and providing just the right amount of attention (not overbearing and not missing in action when needed). She was what restaurant "servers" used to be and are now degraded to "food deliverers". On to the food. My lovely bride ordered the salmon and I... although I initially intended to enjoy seafood at a "seafood restaurant", decided on one of the specials, duck with a blueberry glaze. We started our meal with the mussels in white sauce. The mussels were great and the white sauce was ideal for bread dipping which we chose to indulge in until the little rolls ran out. Salads were included with our meals. Usually when you get an "included" salad, it's an afterthought and tastes like an afterthought. But it was clear that these salads were not that. I ordered the Caesar's salad, my spouse the house salad. Both were great (except for the tomatoes on the house salad which were blah). Both salads were icy cold with just the right amounts of dressing. Good start. My brides salmon was prepared well but lacked something. We both agreed it needed some type of sauce to add a bit more flavor. Her side dish included lemon rosemary potatoes. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a hint of lemon or rosemary. They actually looked and tasted like breakfast home fries. My blueberry "glazed" duck was actually blueberry "bathed" duck. I have never had duck in an actual pond of blueberry "juice". It was too thin to be called a glaze. I must admit, once you overcame the blueberry juice, the duck was cooked to perfection. As a chef, I understand how hard that is to do. Not overcooked, crispy skin, juicy interior. This duck would have had it all if not for the blueberry "juice".. excuse me "glaze". My duck was accompanied by an ample serving of excellent fresh spinach with bit of garlic topping. For desert, we shared the vanilla/chocolate Tartuffe which was excellent. One of the things we found appealing was the prices. Everything was in the twenty + dollar range. Not bad in today's inflated dining market. The bottom line of any review is... would we come back? The answer is yes. This time we'd sit outside in the tiki bar area to get more of the island feel, hopefully get our server to serve us again and try a few more dishes. Perhaps something that included clams since the restaurants name is after all Mangia "Clam" Bar. read more

Dry pieces of bread... next we order the scallops which was bay scallops with a sauce and a side it looked very unappetizing. I needed up not eating it since I didn't want to take a risk. It was terrific! Diane greeted and sat us and Mary Beth was our sweet and efficient server! The drink I ordered was more than generous and my husband enjoyed a couple of beers. The atmosphere was casual and friendly. We weren't planning on going to Mangia's for lunch--we were out on our boat cruising around and just saw a docking area in the Manatee Pocket of Salerno, which offers a few good restaurants. So glad we chose Mangia's. We chose the outside deck area. Very high ceilings and beautiful off-the-water breezes. I happen to love Pasta Fagioli soup, but rarely order it due to past disappointments. This Pasta Fagioli was the BEST I've ever had! We shared a shrimp cocktail, which was perfectly cooked and chilled. I ordered eggplant parm and broccoli--both delicious! I loved that the broccoli was served with charred garlic cloves and olive oil. My husband ordered blackened mahi, the same broccoli and a salad--he said it was all top notch! Don't bother- don't waste your time, I asked a local at the bar about the food- she said "I hope you have a strong stomach!" Worst service, after taking 10min or so on a slow afternoon, Bill the bartender outside was fairly rude and non-hospitable, also he seemed drunk, which I'm not holding against him- just a grumpy drunky and after asking about the food on the happy hour menu a couple times he just repeated $1 off everything- I asked what he had for bottled beer- his reply was "not much" seeing a big selection of Bud Light etc- I asked for Rolling Rock He said in a angry reply it's very "Basic" , then asked a 3rd time what was the best food item on happy hour menu was- his reply "fish dip" it was disgusting, old watery, came with stale flatbread chips and chopped tomatoes, guess the kitchen isn't really Italian.. no veggies read more

Went with eight people. All satisfied! Every dinner was amazing. The service was very good but I felt a little rushed. We sat in the outdoor tiki bar by the water which was cool and calming. Went out to eat with a large group of family. We sat outside on the water. There were a couple of appetizers order all delicious. They have the best calamari. The the waitress was very nice and thorough. The food came out in a timely manner and was hot. I personally had the chicken marsala. The serving size was really big enough for me to take half home. Stopped in here with my parents when I was visiting for spring break, it's a cool place, and we sat outside on the water. Service was good, attentive and friendly. We took advantage of the happy hour specials and tried a little bit of everything from oysters, to bruschetta and shrimp, it was all delicious and fresh! Went and had dinner on christmas eve with eight people and we were so disappointed with the food, The chicken in the chicken franchise was so tough, we could barely cut it with a knife. The filet mignon sandwich barely had any meat in it, and the bread that it was on had a really weird smell. We will never go back there again. read more

I really liked this place prior to the current owner. The staff really liked being there and it showed. Now it seems all the usual staff left and the new owner is running it to the ground. This was our first time visiting the newly opened Mangia Clam Bar. It's a beautiful Waterfront Restaurant with indoor & outdoor dining. The restaurant has spectacular bars both inside & outside -- the outside bar is a tiki bar, with a very relaxing water-view ambiance. For food & drinks, we started with cocktails, which were different & amazing. They bring you complimentary bread. We ordered the fried zucchini as an appetizer, which was delicious. We didn't realize that they had an early bird special, which included everything for under $22 -- and the portions were huge! For the special, we started off with choice of soup or salad (my husband and I tried each). For dinner, we both had fish and were very happy with our meals. The fish was fresh and my Salmon was perfectly cooked. We ended our meal with chocolate cake & Napoleon cake. So glad this spot opened up nearby in Port Salerno. starting with our server, she was professional and told us the specials for the day. we had Salmon and eggplant dishes. both delicious and came with salad and vegetable. cooked perfectly! we sat inside so it lacked some of the ambiance of the tiki bar but, for us, it was perfect. good value for a very good meal in Stuart. would go back again. read more

immediate seating...ordered fish..wasnt hot after first bite.."smashed" the end to show server it wasnt hot..was returned to kitchen. put back into fryer AFTER i had it in my mouth AND touched with my hands.returned to me in a yellow pool of grease.. didnt eat dinner nor was i asked if i wanted anything else in its place..pasta fagioli soup, which was informed its made "in house" more like a can of tomato soup with rigatoni type noodles and a few beans. crackers with the fish dip were stale..needless to say not a good first impression. when informing the restaurant, was basically called a liar and told they DO NOT put eaten food back in the fryer..maybe not but i was reserved a piece of fish IDENTICAL to the fish that was sent back..been going there since it was manatees..but its not the same..they wont go out of business if we dont return but its not on our list of places to dine again ;-( read more

My blood sugar was dramatically low upon arrival and mentioned this to the staff who jumped on it and brought me food ASAP. It's kind of embarrassing, but it was starting to look blurry. Scott, the manager was a great leader in hands-on manager , rolling up his sleeves and jumping in to help the staff. The food was great. The teamwork was unbelievable. Sierra, our waitress was top-notch attentive, caring, and very customer service oriented as was everyone that worked here. Sorry food was awful. I ordered two separate pasta dishes the fettuccine alfredo with chicken and the linguine w/ the bolognese sauce. Completely flavorless and bland. Also ordered two appetizers the meatballs w/ ricotta. The meatballs had no seasoning tasted like WAWA meatballs. The wings were just thrown on a dinner plate w/ no real thought. The pasta fagioli was watered down tomato sauce with noodles and a few beans. I felt bad for the gentleman singing so we gave him a $20 tip. My parents found this gem about a month ago and decided to take us while we were there on vacation. Let me tell you, if you get the chance you have to go. There summer menu has unbelievable pricing. You get so much food for the price tag. Coming from a NYer this was good Italian cuisine. I will definitely be returning when I come down again. Let's just say there was one to two days worth of leftovers to enjoy. There was live music outside and a spacious inside air conditioned seating where we ate.
