Pistachio Crusted Mahi $21 w/ Sweet Potato Fries (+$1) and Plantains (+$1)

What a little hidden gem! We moved up from Deerfield a few years ago and there's a wonderful place there that is exactly the, unassumingly delicious seafood nestled in a small little restaurant. The staff were all working together to make sure everything is seamless. They have a kids menu but it's not printed so you have to ask. Everyone definitely left with happy bellies. U would highly recommend!

Came for lunch on a Wednesday a bit early and was lucky to get in. The restaurant opens at 11.30 am and there was a wait even before opening. By the time we left it was packed. Service is a bit slow but the waitress manages here tables well. The restaurant is small but perfect for what it is. I ordered the grouper sandwich with onion rings and it was very good. Fish to bread ratio was good, and also very fresh. Definitely recommend coming here.

This is by far the best seafood I've had in the last 5 years. The menu is diverse and location is quaint and charming. Not too many tables so you get incredible service from Kaitlynn and Dan. I am a huge fan of Conch Chowder, and this is better than anything I've even had in the Bahamas or Caribbean. The prices are more than reasonable and I'm planning on eating here now at least once a week. Don't even think about it, just get over there!!!

A friend recommended me to this place and he did not disappoint with this one. Ronda is a sweetheart and made me want to return just because of her service. Good food, great service, and even better people.

YOU MUST STOP HERE FOR FOOD. Not to mention the service was INCREDIBLE. The soup is an absolute must have. Also had the calamari, coconut shrimp and mahi & grouper tacos. Absolutely insane how delicious it was. My server was the nicest lady ever which was a huge bonus. Will be back every time I come to this area!!!

The food was hot and well seasoned. Got the blackened seafood platter. The scallops were a nice treat. There is not much parking here but we went for dinner at an off time so were able to sit down immediately. Very quaint little seafood joint.

This is a staple fresh seafood place with very unique daily specials based on the catches from the local fishermen. Get there early because they are a small place with limited tables, definitely worth the wait!

This restaurant visit was perhaps the biggest surprise of our trip thus far. While enjoying the pool at our rental condo, we heard someone talking about King Neptune. I went right to Yelp and found a lot of reviews with great ratings. That is where we had our next meal. The restaurant itself is very unassuming-in fact we would have probably never stopped there if we hadn't heard the recommendation. Restaurant is quite small with just a few tables, high tops and counter seating. We arrived shortly after opening and was happy to get a table as within about five minutes, there was a wait. Lunch menu includes soups, salads and a wide variety of seafood dishes. I had blacken mahi and my wife ordered the fried grouper. Dishes came with coleslaw (which my wife declared was outstanding) and fries. I upgraded to Tabasco onion rings. Nice and spicy! What a perfect lunch we both had! We both thought the fish was as good as any we've had so far. Our luck with great service continued here as well. It is too late in our trip for another visit. King Neptune will definitely be on our list when we come back next year!F

For our entrees, I had the seafood platter, my bride had the shrimp scampi. Finally for dessert we shared a slice of the caramel cheesecake. THE ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant is on the water with bar seating and white cloth table dining in several rooms. If you're looking for seaside dining Pirates Cove will suite you fine. THE FOOD: Our appetizers... My French onion soup was made like a traditional French onion soup with plenty of melted cheese and oodles of onions. There were plenty of mussels bathed in a delicious white wine and butter base for my brides mussels appetizer. Our entrees... My seafood platter featured a small serving of white fish, which was nice and juicy, two small stuffed shrimp, which were quite tasty, two scallops made properly (not under cooked and slimy or overcooked and rubbery). My brides shrimp scampi featured 5 small shrimp over a bed of linguine. The dish was well made with hints of garlic and butter in the balanced cream sauce. The dessert: Our caramel cheesecake dessert was creamy and rich. THE SERVICE: It's always a challenge for a server to serve large parties, but our server did great. Delivered our drinks in a timely fashion watched over us for any needed refills and clearly explained any questions we had. THE BOTTOM LINE: As always with my reviews, the "customer so what" would I return is complicated for the Pirates Cove. My answer... probably not. Why not if the food was prepared properly, the ambiance was fitting for a seafood restaurant and the service was fine? The answer lies in serving size, price and add on charges. I don't mind paying premium prices for a premium meal but Pirates Cove charged $40 for a seafood platter that should more realistically be called a seafood sampling. At $36 My wife's shrimp scampi should have featured large shrimp instead of the small shrimp she received. And, finally, the add on prices which included a 3% service charge and a whopping 21% tip. I don't mind tipping heavily for good service and our server would have probably gotten 25% if it was my choice. However, I HATE having a restaurant dictate what I'll tip! I understand mandatory tipping for a large party but I've never seen it set at 21%! As for the service charge, it was placed on every bill whether you paid with a credit card or not. One of my guests asked if that was a credit card fee (which I hate as well) and was told if he paid cash, our servers would take that fee off. How many people didn't know enough to ask that question, and end up paying that fee when paying with cash?? I hate underhanded trickery like that and discourage it by not returning. In summary you'll have to ask yourself before dining at Pirates Cove, is the food, ambiance and service quality worth the rest? If it is, enjoy. As for me, I'll skip it. There are too many other great seafood places that will provide quality dining, great service and atmosphere without the unwelcome luggage included.

The cute outside tiki style dining area had a bar and a great island type feel. Unfortunately, it was packed, so we chose the inside dining area. Unlike the outside area, which felt quite tropical islandish, the ambiance of the inside dining area was... well let's just say, functional. First let's discuss the service. Our server was fantastic. Explaining the specials, keeping our drinks topped off and providing just the right amount of attention (not overbearing and not missing in action when needed). She was what restaurant "servers" used to be and are now degraded to "food deliverers". On to the food. My lovely bride ordered the salmon and I... although I initially intended to enjoy seafood at a "seafood restaurant", decided on one of the specials, duck with a blueberry glaze. We started our meal with the mussels in white sauce. The mussels were great and the white sauce was ideal for bread dipping which we chose to indulge in until the little rolls ran out. Salads were included with our meals. Usually when you get an "included" salad, it's an afterthought and tastes like an afterthought. But it was clear that these salads were not that. I ordered the Caesar's salad, my spouse the house salad. Both were great (except for the tomatoes on the house salad which were blah). Both salads were icy cold with just the right amounts of dressing. Good start. My brides salmon was prepared well but lacked something. We both agreed it needed some type of sauce to add a bit more flavor. Her side dish included lemon rosemary potatoes. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a hint of lemon or rosemary. They actually looked and tasted like breakfast home fries. My blueberry "glazed" duck was actually blueberry "bathed" duck. I have never had duck in an actual pond of blueberry "juice". It was too thin to be called a glaze. I must admit, once you overcame the blueberry juice, the duck was cooked to perfection. As a chef, I understand how hard that is to do. Not overcooked, crispy skin, juicy interior. This duck would have had it all if not for the blueberry "juice".. excuse me "glaze". My duck was accompanied by an ample serving of excellent fresh spinach with bit of garlic topping. For desert, we shared the vanilla/chocolate Tartuffe which was excellent. One of the things we found appealing was the prices. Everything was in the twenty + dollar range. Not bad in today's inflated dining market. The bottom line of any review is... would we come back? The answer is yes. This time we'd sit outside in the tiki bar area to get more of the island feel, hopefully get our server to serve us again and try a few more dishes. Perhaps something that included clams since the restaurants name is after all Mangia "Clam" Bar.
