A great quality shabu spot in an area of Torrance that doesn't have too many shabu options. Love that parking is a plentiful and free. You can't miss it, just look for the giant inflatable duck. They have a Happy Hour menu with $2 oysters, yakitori and apps 4-6:30pm on weekdays and 3-6:30pm on weekends. I enjoyed the yakitori skewers, spicy miso broth, tonkotsu broth and the Course A combo.

Started the evening with happy hour on the patio, which was the perfect way to ease into dinner. We ordered the Shrimp Skewers, Wagyu Ribeye Yakitori, Pork Belly Yakitori, spicy edamame, the Yuzu Shochu Highball, and the Matcha Green Dragon. Everything was flavorful and paired perfectly with the drinks. The pork belly was rich and tender, while the Wagyu yakitori had a great smoky char from the grill. After happy hour, we moved inside for the shabu shabu experience. We ordered Course A with the Tonkotsu soup base, which included ribeye, chuck roll, and beef belly. We also ordered Course B with the spicy miso soup base featuring jumbo shrimp, Japanese scallops, Atlantic salmon, and fish balls. The broths were , rich, and packed with flavor, especially the spicy miso with its nice kick. The quality of the meats and seafood really stood out, and everything tasted fresh. We also tried the Japanese A5 Miyazaki beef, which completely melted in our mouths and was easily one of the highlights of the night. To finish the experience, we sampled a few premium sake selections from their massive sake menu, and each one paired beautifully with the meal. The staff were super attentive and friendly throughout the entire experience. The ambiance and overall environment truly felt like being transported to Japan, making the whole dining experience even more memorable.

Found a shabu shabu spot near the beach! Walking in, you can already feel the Redondo Beach vibes Kicked things off with drinks -- CHILL And the most memorable part? $2 oysters each!!! Can't believe I can satisfy my Asian food cravings while enjoying the ocean breeze IG: socalhkfoodies

Honestly feel like I've been going through a bit of a divide in terms of AYCE shabu shabu. Either it's all you can eat at a reasonable price and you exchange quality for quantity/value, or you pay a lot extra for quality. King Plus Shabu Shabu appears to be a rare place that strikes the right balance, get the basic AYCE menu for regular occasions (and a balance tiled more towards affordability), get the premium menu that includes ribeye and brisket for when quality is on your mind (and stomach). They are plenty large enough inside, have ample parking, and the additional portions of noodles/veggies are quite generous as well. We love going here, although they're a bit out of the way for us-- always fun to watch us all roll in from directions all across the map because some of us love the place that much. Last tidbit: regrettably have not come here for the oyster special.

Loved the vibe of this place! It feels modern, clean and upscale yet also relaxed, warm and inviting. Easy parking in their own lot Great shabu shabu, Japanese bbq, and other specials! - the broth choices are delicious and the meats and veggies are high quality! My favorite broth is the sukiyaki which is a little sweeter and the Tonkatsu which was creamy. The Sea kelp is great for those who need a lighter broth. We got Set A and B for the beef and seafood options. The combo comes with protein, a bowl of veggies, noodles or rice, a listed appetizer and a drink. All was so satisfying. We also tried some Wagyu and it melts in your mouth! We also loved their sake menu which had so many options to start learning about it. The grilled Saba mackerel fish was also AMAZING and my favorite bite. Service - amazing, they checked in often and brought our food quickly, out servers and management were also so kind and helpful! Tip: check out their special events, lunch and happy hour deals! Thanks to Wing, Brian and Paloma who were so wonderful and added to the great experience!

Full transparency we only selected this please because of the Resy credit thing but I was pretty impressed. The place was really clean and modern. I love the single serve pots which felt clean. The selection of veggies and noodles from the selection was great. Only one bad thing was we had to wait a while for the meat to be cut. Only because there was one guy cutting the meat and honestly I kinda felt bad. However once we got the meat there was a lot and the quality was great! I would definitely come again! Really enjoyed the food and vibe overall. Healthy, clean food with great vibes, what's not to love!

Had a reservation, arrived to a restaurant with only 3 parties, we waited about 10 minutes before being seated. Party of 4 on small table that quickly be came crowded with all the bowls and plates. We started with calamari, spring rolls and cucumber salad, then 4 orders of All you can eat. Service was ok, food was ok, but we expected a lot more based on the reviews. Price was $40 per person for AYCE which is reasonable, but just not something that we would do again anytime soon as it was just ok.

Modern spot with great shabu-shabu! I went for a sake-tasting event and everything exceeded expectations! The food quality was excellent, and you can actually see them slicing the meat at the cutting station in the middle of the restaurant, which was really cool. I tried both the sukiyaki and the bone broth, both were rich and flavorful. The appetizers and sake pairings were spot on and really elevated the meal. The space is clean, the staff are super friendly, and there's plenty of parking since it's in a plaza. I'll definitely be back for that wagyu!!! It was so tender it melted in my mouth!!

We went back to one of our favorite shabu shabu spots over the weekend, and as always, it didn't disappoint! We love coming here because the place is super nice, clean, and comfortable. One of the things I appreciate most is that they allow our fur baby, Louie, to join us -- that's a big plus and one of the main reasons this spot is one of our favorites. It's never too crowded, which I love because I prefer a calm, relaxed dining atmosphere. The food is always consistently great -- the broth is flavorful, and the beef is always fresh and sliced perfectly. Another bonus is that there's a car wash nearby, so it's perfect to get your car cleaned while enjoying a delicious hot pot meal. Highly recommend this place for good food, good vibes, and pet-friendly dining!

My wife and I had a great time at this Yakitori and Sake cocktail event. The quality of food and service was outstanding. The vibe was great, the people who run this Restaurant really made an effort to ensure that everyone was having a good time. We found this advertised on social media and then realized they have so many good deals throughout the week from all-you-can-eat to Oyster weekends. We're definitely gonna come back and try this Sunday Oyster happy hour. I'd recommend anyone locally to try it.

    Course A Beef
    Jenny T.

I love the set menu options here, King Plus Shabu Shabu has it listed as courses. My friend and I tried Course A and B for a mixture of beef and seafood. Each course came with broth, veggies, rice or noodles, a choice of one of the listed starters and soft drink. The sukiyaki and tonkatsu soup base was really good, really flavorful! The interior is well light, spacious and clean! The meat is cut fresh in the middle of the restaurant which is nice to see. My friend and I both enjoyed the meal!

Shabu Shabu: ribeye steak, highly marbled wagyu-styled beef, pork. Ramen noodles, hot sake, two different cooking broths. Bounty!
    rich ..

Absolutely FANTASTIC! The restaurant doesn't show well in some of the pictures on Yelp to me, but do know, it's an excellent and wonderful setting indeed! The meat was super fresh, amazing, and delicious. The restaurant was spotless clean, the staff exceptionally friendly. I think the owner was actually slicing some of the meats, and he was incredibly accommodating, engaging and attentive. It seems more and more these days that places don't care whether you give them business or not, but he was genuine in greeting, and valuing, all the diners that came in. And it was a ton of really good food, and we were stuffed! Highly recommended!!!

    1. Shabu Shabu: Great quality meat -- they cut the meat with a machine right in front of you by the bar section. Great service as well. The staff is quick to respond and get what you need even though they are overwhelmed and super busy. Nice and clean environment. Highly recommend trying the sake flight if you're interested in tasting different kinds of sake. Two that stood out to me were the plum green tea sake and the yuzu one -- so good. They also serve ice cream at the end with the combo. I thought they would simply serve a scoop, but it actually comes with cream and syrup -- the whole deal. 2. Sake & Yakitori Night: They also host a Sake and Yakitori night as an event. It's a ticketed event, so check out their posters. About the event: you get 7 courses of yakitori and try different sake pairings with each. The flavors are awesome, and there is a sake expert explaining every bottle and the story behind it. You get to try each type for a few shots, or more if you'd like to drink. They are not stingy about it -- very welcoming hospitality. Have fun and get drunk!

Giant Ebi Mayo: shrimp (huge!) cooked perfectly and also so delicious! Elote Corn Ribs: excellent flavor, but there are only four very small pieces so not worth the price (to us). Skewers were all good: Momo Teri, Mune Ume, Wagyu Beef, Unagi, Tsukune. We would definitely order the wagyu beef, Tsukune and Momo Teri again. (The others were good but not as good as these three.) Compared to other yakitori restaurants, the selection might be a bit limited, and die-hard yakitori fans may find it a little lacking, but it is definitely worth visiting at least once! My personal favorite here is the Chicken with Honey Mustard! The Karaage sauce is also incredible!! And finally, the desserts -- always something to look forward to! Every single one tastes like it came straight from a fine pastry shop, and I'm always blown away. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! Next time, I'd love to come for lunch and try the Yuzu Shio Ramen.

The food highlights were easily the gobo chips and the skewers. The gobo chips arrived as an impressive, light-as-air mound dusted with seaweed seasoning... super crisp, savory, and addictively easy to snack on. The pork and wagyu skewers were masterfully executed as well, coming off the grill tender, juicy, and packed with rich, smoky flavor. The toasted eihire (stingray/filefish) was another great traditional touch, perfectly chewy and ideal for dipping in the spiced Japanese mayo my favorite.. On the flip side, a few dishes lacked the depth I was hoping for. The chicken karaage was fried well, but the flavor itself was a bit bland and needed more seasoning or marination and soft. The pressed rice rolls also fell flat, particularly the mentaiko roll.. it felt skimpy on the cod roe, and because the mentaiko seemed cooked through, it missed that fresh, raw texture and punchy brine that makes the dish shine. As for the space, it's quite dark, compact, and packed tightly with tables, which makes it feel a bit cramped when it's busy. However, seeing the dining room constantly full tells me that their best dishes keep people coming back. While there were some inconsistencies in taste, the highlights made it a solid experience, and I'm looking forward to returning to try more of the menu and updating my score!

Unfortunately, the food told a very different story. We ordered a wide variety of yakitori since the glowing reviews repeatedly highlighted it as the restaurant's specialty. Instead, what arrived was surprisingly inconsistent. Nearly every skewer had a heavily charred exterior that crossed the line from smoky to bitter. Good yakitori should showcase careful grilling that enhances the ingredients, not mask them with burnt flavors. The proteins themselves didn't taste particularly fresh, and the seasoning was all over the place. Some skewers were so lightly seasoned they tasted unfinished, while others were aggressively salty. Consistency is one of the fundamentals of good yakitori and it was noticeably lacking here. Having visited plenty of izakayas and eaten more than my fair share of yakitori, I'm not claiming Michelin-level expectations. I simply know the difference between properly grilled, well-balanced skewers and ones that miss the mark. Based on this visit, the food was below average and failed to live up to the hype. With the volume of positive reviews, I expected a memorable yakitori experience. Instead, I left wondering if I had visited the same restaurant everyone else was raving about.

I understand yakitori is cooked over a grill and the smell is part of the experience, but sweating through dinner in a small shop is not charming. Turn up the AC or improve the ventilation. Service also felt cold. There was no warmth, no hospitality, no sense that anyone was glad people were there. The grill master mostly stared through the room, which made the whole place feel more awkward than welcoming. As for the food, some skewers were good, but others were noticeably over salted. For something as simple and focused as yakitori, the execution has to be tighter than that. There are plenty of yakitori spots around. If the food were exceptional, maybe the uncomfortable room and flat service would be easier to forgive. But right now, the flavors aren't strong enough to make the experience worth repeating.

If I had been able to eat crunchier / harder stuff (I had dental work done prior), I would have been more adventurous with the menu. They had so many delicious looking options! That being said, the skewers were AMAZING. Their chicken skewers, the scallop, and the veggies were cooked to perfection. I felt like I had just walked back into a legit izakaya in Tokyo. The vibes were amazing, the staff was so friendly. I will absolutely be back. 10000000/10

Home-y vibes izakaya at a strip mall…read more Went for a Friday dinner. Parking was easy at the time, but do know the plaza can get a little busy in the evening. The inside decor was home-y, with regular seating and a few tatami rooms. Had a rsvp for a booth and was sat immediately. Ordered a few different dishes: - Sweet potato tempura - Agadashi tofu - yellowtail jalapeño sashimi - soba noodles - chicken curry rice Everything was really good - but the chicken curry rice and sashimi stood out. They also did get our soba noodle order wrong and received udon, but the udon was good also. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food you get. Would come back!

I usually read through the Yelp comments and look at the photos before trying a new place, but this time I only checked the rating -- which was great -- and decided to go based on that and the FB post. Looking back, I probably should have read the reviews first. We didn't realize the bento boxes are only available during lunchtime, and we were also surprised to find out they don't have yakitori. Those were two things we were hoping to try. We came with a party and ordered several items, including the Akatsuki Special Hot Pot, which was recommended to us, along with other dishes. The tempura and karaage were definitely the highlights -- both were really good. The rest of the food was okay for our group, but unfortunately it didn't really satisfy our craving or stand out the way we were hoping. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff was friendly. I think the biggest thing was that our expectations were set by what we saw on FB, and the items that caught our attention weren't available when we visited. I would recommend checking their current menu before going so you know what to expect. Maybe we'll come back another time to try their lunch menu and explore more of what they offer.

Tempura consisted of shrimp (2), onion, pumpkin, zucchini, bean, and bell pepper. The beef teriyaki was the star! Steak was so tender that you could cut it with a fork and was cooked perfectly!!! I always order the beef medium rare, and they consistently get the temperature right. That reliability honestly stands out to me because I have been to actual steak restaurants where the doneness can be hit or miss. At Azuma, I can confidently ask for medium rare and trust that it will come out exactly that way without having to order it rarer just to compensate. The teriyaki sauce is also really well balanced. It has enough sweetness to give you that classic teriyaki flavor without becoming overly sugary or masking the taste of the beef. One of my favorite parts of the meal is actually toward the end, when the white rice has soaked up both the teriyaki sauce and the savory juices from the steak. Mixing everything together makes even the remaining rice incredibly flavorful. The macaroni salad is another pleasant surprise. I'm normally not much of a macaroni salad person, but theirs is one I actually enjoy and willingly finish. Add a little of the teriyaki sauce to it and it gets even better. The shrimp fried rice is also worth ordering. They are very generous with the shrimp, and these are actually large, substantial pieces rather than the tiny shrimp you often see tossed into fried rice. The rice is mixed with egg and green onions as well, making it savory, satisfying, and substantial enough to enjoy on its own. Overall, Azuma continues to be a reliable favorite for me. The perfectly cooked teriyaki beef is easily the star, but the balanced sauce, solid sides, and generous shrimp fried rice make the whole meal satisfying. At this point, ordering the teriyaki beef dinner here is less of a decision and more of a tradition.
